Building a protolanced industrial park layout

Do it. You can get all your thoughts down and get the world's input on it.
Good thinking. I could actually think and reflect on the work I do!
Sawyer; visited your blog as well as downloaded the RTS software. I'll play around with it when I have time.
Jordan; I had two of those videos a while ago; both from a while ago though. Here's the one I didn't delete. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZoMLGPMykw
I also have a playlist of two videos following Train 41T; the New Poland Turn, which runs across the whole layout except the staging yards. This is the most up-to-date video; but there have been a bunch of changes since I filmed it.

I'm going to film a version of the tour without all the camera shaking in the current version; this time I'll make sure to ge tthe staging yard; I filmed it but the camera lost it...

School doesn't begin for another month over here...
I'm paiting WRS' GP9 at the moment...
I have a fair amount of time, it's just that I lack motivation to work on the layout mostly. I occasionally try to run it, then I get depressed when it runs poorly and I go and do something else...
The backdrops on my layout are 1/8" masonite, painted blue and fastined to the plywood base with small (1" by 1") L braces with small bolts/nuts holding the pair of L braces (one on each side of the backdrop board) together with the backdrop sandwiched in between.
Each backdrop board is blended together with aluminum tape. I would recommend using something else, like drywall putty or something instead, as the joints between the boards aren't very smoot, there are a lot of wrinkles on each joint...
The clouds are made with stencils and an airbrush. I use New London stencils, using a technique I learned in a clinic by the makers of the stencils at the Springfield, MA train show.

Ugh, Band Camp Starts for me...tommrow...and I haven't totally memorized the songs completely...looks like I'll have to guess...
I'm glad I graduated. But now I have to go to college near the end of August. Then I have worked at my job for a year (means a raise, more train money)
I'm serisouly thinking of quiting college an working for the CSX around here. I think I'll see if I have an insane or biased instructors this semester.
As for me working on my trains, I usually don't do much unless I think it needs it. Right now I'm working on the following:
2 GP30s, Superdetailed; airline hose and rerail frogs fell of on seperate units
U28B with sound needs a horn, The non sound has just gotten programed with speed match with the sound one, just need a horn.
GP35, needs a motor, driveshafts, and worm gears. (that or me to modify a P2k GP30 chassis I have). A guy at the MR club has some left over from his older athearn units
SD9s, new decoders and LED, just needs some programming and paint the insides of the shell black (LED shines trough, even the black part of the shell), the old lightboard wouldn't allow me to use LEDs. I also found out NCE is really good.
The FTs I have are all good, but the GP9s are away and need to have the back ends straightened out. (the shell and maybe the frame are bent down in the rear of the units, same is happening to my GP30s)
Vincent
Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....
2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Sure do. I always get more done during the summer's rainy days...
I got my best clips up, (finally.) Here it is!

WRS - Best of 2008!
Enjoy!
I'm ba-ack!. School starts in around 2 weeks here
And before you ask, yes, I did see a shark at the beach. It was a 3-4 ft. shovel head shark (member of the hammerhead variety). It stayed within 20 ft. of the shore mostly, and even got to within a yard or 2 of me. That was awesome.
Heh...
GG! That has to be the strangest thing i've ever seen.
That goes along well with coal burning diesels...
Pretty Odd Eh?
I'm thinking of just cutting it down to an A-A loco, and scrapping the B unit. I'd be using 2 of the new Bachmann's, so the MSRP would be $250.
If I were to do that, I'd have one unit with a 2 trucks, and the second unit with 1, and that would slide onto a pinon the first unit. That way it would be able to swivel. The locomotive is going to be going through Testing on the Quebec & New England, out of Bellows Falls. While the axle loading isn't too heavy for White River Southern, its expected their curvy mountain route is unsuited for the monsters... Tyler, Imagine one of these on the New Poland Turn!
Sawyer, you sure it wasn't JAWS? lol.
School starts on August 18th here. Way to early. But this is my last year of high school! WOOHOO!
In the meantime, I am finally beginning purchasing lumber for my new benchwork on my new layout. Look on page 49 of August MR to see the trackplan.
Nice!
High School sucks! yayz...
lol, thats a bit better.
At least I start after Labour Day!
Went out and photographed my GP30 earlier. I'll have photos of my GP35 when my dad's friend brings it over (he bid on it for me since I don't have an ebay account).
and here's my progress on the layouts:
Added paper towels for moubntains (not soaked in hydrocal, but in plain water, we'll see how it all works out).
I've moved the loco servicing to a single long track (it only services 2 locos).
(sorry it's blurry)
Quebec & New England? Did Yoshi change the name again?
You're right Alex, that wouldn't really work on my curves... 22" radius would be a little tight!
I finally succeded in strapping my camera to a gondola (My flatcar tipped to much when I tried it) to make a train ride video. It's not a front view; as neither my video camera nor the regular camera that I used for this would clear the edges of the ROW, it's as if there's an HO scale hobo with a video camera... "Side Door Pullman" On the WRS
I took this over the Dooley-West Concord stretch and in Concord itself. The pass wouldn't work because all you'd see was the side of an unfinished hill, plus the camera clipped the trees... Conrail C40-8W #6089 did the honors of pushing the gondola.
Awesome Ty! I tried that with my camera, but it has since died, and I was just testing with it at the time.
Packers#1, great stuff there!
