We're blanketed in snow again here in Ohio. February has been the least amount of snow on record here. In 2005 we had 185 inches, so far this season we barely made it to 20 inches.
All because I bought a new snowblower?

Good morning everyone, I sure do hope Chloe gets here with that order of eggs and toast soon.
I saw two starnge things yesterday, a Monarch Butterfly and a Red Winged Black Bird. I'll bet it has been ten years since I saw either one of those in Cape Coral. They are very common in the center of the state, but seem to stay away from the coastal counties.

Good morning, diners. It's a lazy Saturday morning here, so I'll have bacon, eggs, and black coffee.
This whole week has been almost completely unscheduled. It's been nice. Now for the change. Starting tomorrow, the next week is busy. Not looking forward to it.

And here in Delaware we're getting our first snow of the season. It's not supposed to last, and the outside temperature is 37 so it won't collect.

Dianne and I found out today that we will have a grandson. The reveal party was a lot of fun. They revealed the gender by having two friends in Power Rangers costumes, one blue and one pink. The Rangers had a mock fight were initially the pink Ranger tossed the blue Ranger to the floor (gently) so we thought for a moment that the baby is a girl, but then the blue Power Ranger jumped back up on his feet and trounced the pink Ranger, ending the skit by putting one foot on the now prone pink Ranger's chest. A boy it is!
Were actually weren't too surprised. There hasn't been a girl born into my family for many generations. Cole and Kaitlin wanted a boy so they are very happy!

Several of you have mentioned your mild winter. We are the opposite. We still have snow on the ground, and it's been cold. I expect there will be melting today with temps in the 40s.
I can't think of anything on my layout that would work for a gender reveal, but I immediately thought of my old Lionel train with a watchman who would come out of a door when a train came by. Rig up something blue or pink to come out of the door instead. Sorry! That's about as creative as I can ever get.

Good morning everyone. It is going to be another warm day down here, but the high is only expected to be 82, so we are getting some relief. The highs should stay in the low 80s for the rest of the week.
I am buying the trim for the soffit project today. I ran out of angle brackets, and they won't arrive for a week. I have about 40 feet of soffit left to install, but I will start on trim for now. So many supplies are still hard to get.
At least lumber is plentiful again.

That sounds like a great gender reveal. Almost everyone in Florida does it with fireworks. The fireworks suppliers have some very interesting options, some of which are simply amazing and creative.
Too many Floridians try to go off the scale with the fireworks and add too much, then Florida Man makes the news again.
Attuvian1Alright, guys, put your thinking caps on and propose ways of doing a gender reveal using your model railroad - well, maybe somebody else's.
My friend Danny used his Garden Railroad for his gender reveal. He loaded a train with boy's toys and backed it into a tunnel.
Of course, he and his wife already knew at that point.

I lived in Slaughter, Louisiana (outside of Baton Rouge) for a year in 1981-1982. The exposure I had to food changed my life. I am sure I will never be able to make Red Beans & Rice like I experienced there.

I looked back through the January Diner but I could only find the theme we have used for February, so we are open to suggestions.
I like the ideal of doing different kinds of rolling stock. It would be fun to see some of the rarer brass creations, both locomotives and cars.
What does everyone think?
I will move the Diner unless someone else would like to do it.

Kevin, you mentioned crazy weather. We have snow on the ground, but we're having a thunderstorm right now with rain.
The trouble with the rain is that the ground is still frozen and the water all runs off before it can get into the soil.
It would seem that we have a small consensus on the theme for the March Diner. I think that showing some different and unusual pieces of rolling stock could be quite interesting.
Are there any other suggestions?

In North America having gender reveal parties has become the norm, but I'm in agreement with you that I would rather wait until the baby has been born in order to find out the gender. I guess what really matters is that the baby be healthy.
I do have to say that the reveal party was lots of fun! The Power Ranger skit was really well done. We got to see a bunch of Cole and Kaitlins' friends that we hadn't seen for a long time, and all had a good time.
