I think I was simply adorable back in 1973.

I could not pull off this look now.

I apologize, no fall colors here. Still a great look at lower Manhattan in the 1930s. Take me to Grand Central, please.

We always dressed up for church. I guess that is what you did back in the 50s or 60s or maybe that is only a Presbyterian thing.

Well, Br. Lion, we certainly had our Sunday Best and in my neck of the woods it just wasn’t for Presbyterians, in fact formal wear was worn even for just going to town!

Some great photos being added!  Nice to see what people looked like way back when.

BTW, that second photo of me was taken over 25 years ago, when I was at my worst.  Had let myself become depressed and was unconsiously eating myself to death.  I weighed in at 325lbs then.  Today I feel much better about myself after losing 125lbs. (even got told I am handsome by a very pretty woman I have gone walking with lately).  I look more like this at the moment.  Photo is from about 3 years ago.

Not just back in the 50s or 60s.  I still dress up every Sunday morning -- it's a Lutheran thing for me.  There are many in my church who don't dress up anymore.

I wore a tie everyday for 45 years.  When I retired I got rid of most of the ties, but I kept about ten for Sundays and for my burial.  I wonder which one my wife will pick for my last tie?

Good Morning,

Cloudy here but should get up to 55 or so today. Will clean the soil out of more pots today. If you don't they will crack when frozen. Have about 15 to do today. I have done some but many more to go as my wife planted about 100.

TF, we had a very nice day here yesterday and I was grilling too but just in the yard. I did butter chicken burgers with peach chutney. Butter chicken is an Indian dish.

People here don't dress up like they did even in the'90s. I used to wear a jacket and tie to go out for dinner and when we went to the opera everyone did.

Got a new dryer vent installed yesterday as the flap on the old came off . That should stop the cold air from getting in along with critters.

We have been feeding chickadees live meal worms. They come about 4 pm and start buzzing us until we put out a dish. They will take them from the dish even when holding it in your hand. We go though about 50 worms in an hour. Love chickedees.

Well that is it in my exciting life.

Time for another coffee.

We always dressed up for church when I was younger, first a Lutheran and then a Methodist.  We still dressed up in the 90s after my daughter was born.

A year or so ago we went out to a fancy steak restaurant here in Delaware.  White linen tablecloths and all that.  We got dressed up, and our waitress actually thanked us for being well dressed.  I looked around, and what had been a dress-up place a year earlier was now "beach casual," even in October.  Shorts, tank tops and sandals.

At least I don't need a jacket and tie to get on an airplane.

I do too.  We're kinda bummed out as they removed the big long hedge on the front lawn.  Came as a surprise as I have no idea why they removed it.  There was hundreds of chickadees that lived in that big bush.  It was interesting how they would all at once decide to fly over to the other hedge.  I think they all moved over there now.

Your story with the chickadees and the mealworms reminded me of a fond memory Charlie.  When I was a young man at the resort I had an old friend Harry who lived across the lake I would go fishing with.

He had all the chickadees tame over at his cabin.  I loved going over there as the birds would fly down and take peanuts out of your hand.  They would land on my shoulders while waiting their turn.

Funny thing though.  When I'd get back home and try to feed the chickadees out of my hand over there, it didnt work.  Perhaps I didn't have enough patients to keep at it long enough.  Harry must have spent alot of time taming the birds across the lake.

I haven't heard of butter chicken.  I ran it by Judy and she hasn't either but we both want to look into that oneDinner

Good afternoon

I've never been a suit kinda guy.  Sure, it's good to dress up and look respectable when I have to.  There's just something about a shirt buttoned all the way up and a tie.  Feels too restricting and gives me neck and shoulder stress.  Can't wait to get out of that monkey suit and get back into my comfortable duds when I get back homeLaugh

P.S.   My mouth always starts watering hearing about all your good cooking DavidDinner  I'll stop by around 7:00Laugh

I used to wear a jacket and tie to go out for dinner and when we went to the opera everyone did.

This is kind of why I do not go to Opera or Musical Theater anymore. We used to get dressed up, but the last show I went to it looked like a bunch of slobs had a convention at the theater.

My youngest and I going to Little Shop Of Horrors in 2005:

A couple weeks before this I was at the Warped Tour.

I carefully dressed appropriately for both events. Today, I could do my hair in a mohawk and wear my moshing outfit to the theater and fit right in.

Ick!

Our seasonal shore birds seem to have all departed until the spring.  We still have a couple herons, but they stay here year round.  The egrets and mallards are gone.  I suspect the heavy rain we had a couple of weeks back flushed out the marsh, as we don't even have seagulls Just a couple of miles inland.

Or maybe the geese, normally plentiful this time of year, have wised up to the start of hunting season...

Losing 125 pounds, I'm sure isn't an easy act to follow.  You ought to be proud of yourself Ray and I have to tell you I am proud of you too.  What a handsome man in that suit!

Gidday Chloe, a large cold banana milkshake, please. Her-in-Doors and I have got 99% of the summer vegetables planted. We discovered a bumble bee nest in the lower raised vegetable garden and have hopefully managed to leave it alone! Got to let the bumble bees get on with their important job of pollination!

Gidday Mr. TF, the kilt pattern is “Hunting Sinclair Ancient”.

New Zealand has very few native deciduous trees, the autumn colours we do get are mainly from introduced trees, so looking on line for local autumn colour with trains is not proving to be easy. However, amongst this gentleman’s collection, I came across a couple. Here’s one.

Good morning, diners.  Coffee, please.

I took Daisy the Dachshund out for a walk at 6:00 and it's warm outside.  It's a change from the past several weeks when I have had to put on a coat early in the morning.

When I made a fall house checkup, I found some rotted wood at the top of my fireplace chimney.  I think during winters, the heat from the fireplace melts snow and over the years, some water worked its way into some wood.

Naturally, I love climbing the extension ladder up the 18 foot chimney to work on this.  We have some cold wet weather predicted for Tuesday, so I may end up just trying to patch and caulk some of the rot until next spring.

Of course, at my age, I should be hiring someone to do this, but I'm too cheap to do that.  Tomorrow's diner post from me may be from the hospital after my fall from the ladder.

I couldn't find any info about this picture except that it's in Ukraine:
