Well................ This has certainly been an... ah, interesting day. Yes, interesting is a good word for it. Got up early today because I had to head over to a good friend and fellow Scouter's house to help get the Pack and Troop (The handicapped units) all ready for the rechartering session on Wednesday evening. Except for a handful of new leaders and committee people who have not completed the mandatory Youth protection Training, everything was easily done online. The guy had a nice big plate of cookies one of his DILs had baked for Thanksgiving and we helped ourselves. I bit into the cookie and chewed a few times and something very hard and sharp was crunching around in my mouth. Knew immediately what it was... An old Gold Crown came off. Have no idea why, it wasn't like chewing taffy or anything that should have pulled it loose. After the committee chair finished up all the documents on the laptoip, the other Scouter (We are the two Commissioners for the units) had to drive to Newark, NY and get proper documants all signed by the Chartered Partner Representative of the units who owns a NAPA Store there. That went smoothly and I drove the other commissioner back to his house. Then headed home (about 25 mile drive).
Called the Dentist and she wanted me to come over in about an hour. I told Her I couldn't because I had to take the cats to the vet. Got an appointment for the dentist this friday. Next time they could squeeze me in. Then I caught Manét and put him into the car carrier. He was not a happy cat! Hollered MEOW!!! very loudly at me all the way over. Got him over to the vets and she had a hard time finding a vein in his ear... That is where they take the sample to test. She finally got it and looked at the meter and her eyes got very big. She just stared for a bit, looked at me and said, well.... It is lower than it was.... It was 95. Now for me that would elicit a YES! But for a cat, it is dangerously low. So I will be now giving Manét a bit less insulin every morning and have to bring him back in two weeks. So, I go home and switch cats... Blackie was more of a , "Well crap! I guess I have to put up with this STUFF again. Get him in there, she finds a vein very easily. His comes out to 112!!! Also quite low. She had no idea why after all this time he was low... I'm now wondering if her test strips are a bit off... That can happen. Anyway he too will get half a unit of insulin less. Both of them have lost weight which is not a bad thing which could be part of it. Blackie also has an infected tooth which he has mostly lost. He is now almost completely toothless... Poor old guy. He got a large injection of antibiotic while he was there. Hopefully that will take care of the infection.
Tonight I did a good bunch of rivets on the bridge. By the end of the week, I hope I have the rivets done and can put the two sections together.

It sounds like a job for a decal to me. Make one of your own and put it on the mini-puck, just like you'd do to a train car.

Yes, Clinchfield is just 6 months old. We adopted him (originally thought to be a "her" and named Missabe for the DM&IR) when a friend of the wife's couldn't deal with his rambunctiousness. Frisco we found in the bushes outside our house as a kitten. Miss Katy was a stray, too. As I always say, Ottes don't adopt cats, cats adopt Ottes.

You are not alone, Steven. A few years back, we took one in and continued to provide food and water for about six other strays.
