Evening guys,
Thought I would drop in here before bed. I have to be up around 6am-6:15 or so as to get ready to head to Toronto around 7:30 for the first of three days of racing. Always enjoy going to the races but sometimes mid afternoon I start to feel a little worn from the sun. Finished up the freight car kits I had on the go and wanted to get built before the weekend. Got them all completed except for one, ahh well. Wont be getting to the Railroad until Monday. Hopefully Im not sunburned come Sunday night, usually am though a bit. I'm pretty good about applying sunblock. I will be back later tomorrow to let you guys know how things went ( I know Ken here is a race guy and Im sure we have a few more. My fav is F1 followed by nascar and indycar.
Just had a house spider here run across the wall, cat saw it and is know looking for it.
Jeff: Don't worry about not wanting to work on the railroad. We all go through it. Sometimes you go non stop for a few days or weeks and the one day it hits " I don't feeling like doing this" Thats the best part of the hobby though, when the urge comes back it will be waiting for you. I already have a few projects lined up Id like to tackle before fall or at least starting. That would be adding lights and interior lights to all buildings. Still going over the plans. But I think I will take some time out nex week to operate the railroad. I do have parts for a Walthers warehouse coming that is also going to be another of the few projects I have on the go.
Well I got my stuff all ready for the morning, I will catch up with all you guys tomorrow night if I dont pop back in the morning. talk to you guys later.
Good Morning!
The first day without a zillion emails in my mailbox! Gives me a little extra time to come here and say hello.
Flo, just coffee, please - I have to watch my weight, as I don´t get enough exercise lately.
Official campaign time will start in a couple of weeks and there is still a lot of prep work for me to do. I wish I´d get more support from my colleagues, but they all seem to wait for me to go ahead. Our campaign budget is a big laugh, but nowhere it is written that we have to do same things as our competitors. Instead of investing a fortune on big billboard posters, which hardly anyone takes notice of, I´d rather spend the little we have on something people will remember. I am planning a series of events on local market places, where we can meet people and they can meet us. For that, I need an eye catcher, and my choice is this:
It won´t be this one, but a very similar one. There will be a PA system in the back of it, powered by an on-board generator. Just drive onto the market place, lift the back hatch, flick the switch and you are ready for your campaign speech! I bet it will attract quite a lot of folks!
Today, we enjoy a little cooler weather. the last days were quite hot, and not a cloud to be seen. Not really my kind of weather, as I must have the blood of a polar bear in my veins.
Have a good one, Folks!
Morning coffee in the diner..
GOOD FRIDAY MORNING!!
Today is Friday, July 12th, 2013!!!
I will light the prayer candles for those in need...
Make it a GREAT day!!!
Today is yours truly's Anniversary...11 Years ago today in a natural beauteous spot off the beaten path on a dirt road in the lush rolling green hills of Vermont, MOH and I were joined together {forever}! It is also 1 Year anniversary of Renewal of Vows.
Oh boy and I forgot a card for today, and MOH has to go stay with MIL whilest FIL goes out to Dr...so BUMMER. We will have to wait to eat out for our annversary too, have zero dollars for it.. THis should be the "paper" anniversary cause that is all we can afford..but I even forgot the paper card...lemme go check to see if MOH remembered...Well maybe NOT, as I don't find any new card in our "card holding for special ocassions" spot, so maybe I am safe! It sorta snuck up on me! I DID send E-card! Hope ti goes through!!
Oooooh, today is the "steel" traditional anniversary gift...welp I got a new set of Stainelss STEEL cookware recently, so I guess that will have to do it! Modern is fashion jewelry or accessories {neither of which I will wear, and MOH most likely won't either...wears on a ST Christopher medal, an Egyptian Cartuche of MOH's name and some other thingy on MOH's necklace, that is it. The earrings are a simple diamond stud for MOH's B-day and a simple Sapphire stud for mine. I wear no earrrings. used to, but not now.
The 11th year flower is TULIPs..so MAYBE I can find some to tiptoe through! TO get MOH. MOH loves flowers, its just we kill everything we try..I used to have a green thumb but when they put in new city water well, it came with an abundance of added chlorination and that killed off the flowers. Switching to bottled water {which gets expensive for plants} didn't help much. Ah well,
well if I am not on ever again, Maybe MOH killed me as I forgot a card!
On a Separate note.....ULRICH FOR BUNDESTAG!!!!

Good morning. It's 74° with 98% humidity. The high will be 92°.Not much planned for today. I may mow the grass if I feel up to it. I got some new flypaper strips yesterday and they've already hauled in a good harvest. I hung up four and I can see about a dozen little black flies stuck to each one. The flies were stupid enough to land on them so they're stuck with that problem now. Yesterday I saw a pair of adhesive backed disk drive identification labels (DRIVE 1 and DRIVE 2) online. They look good but the seller wants around $20 for them. I didn't agree with that price so I quickly printed my own and glued them to the fronts of my two main drives. They look good enough to me.For those wondering what the book on the top drive is, the Starfleet Officers Manual, Volume 1.
Good Morning!!!
Coffee and a breakfast burrito please. Thanks.
Inch called me at just the right time yesterday and I was able to run (drive actually) in town and meet up for a cup of coffee and a nice little visit. Kinda short, but there towards the end my pocket was a buzzin’ from my boss callin an we just pulled up to the hotel when Mother called I guess she was ready for lunch.
We went down the out of downtown to a little café. There was a Starbuck’s coffee place right there at the hotel or at least on the corner there I noticed but, neither Inch nor I are…, how shall I say…., Starbuck’s kinda people. Probably go there if invited or that’s where the group is going, but not by choice.
Speaking of that, Inch- I never knew anything about the rain. It didn’t rain here in Williamsville at all. I heard the disc jockey’s on the radio saying something about heavy downpours and basements flooding but, I just figured they were talking about sometime in the past.
Tom- Yes Brenda told me last night of the bad news. She said Cote De Pablo will return for just a few episodes to “wrap up the Tony and Ziva thing” and then sadness will abound in the hearts of mil….well me anyway.
Galaxy- Happy 11th Anniversary!!
Despite the sad news of the loss of Ziva, I must get to wo*k and waller in my sorrow there. Boy I’m gonna miss her. Guess I do have all the seasons on DVD sooooo. Hey! Will save me money. Of course that’ll be still having to get two more seasons. Last and next. Anyway, my friend/boss informed me last night of a change in plans for said apartment to which if it goes the way I think he’ll want it done, it’ll look like…..not good. I hope his wife is there when he explains this to me so she will hear my side. Maybe she'll ask me my opinion. She has been doing that lately. I think she's beginning to trust my judgement over his on some things like....will it look good. If it's gonna be cheap...he'll say yes. Of course he doesn't have to do it either.
Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

galaxy, July 12th is our anniversary, too. 27 years. By this point, I have to remind Penny. Maybe we'll go out to dinner, or perhaps I'll make up one of our favorites. Or perhaps....
I'll get a tooth pulled. I was at the dentist for a cleaning and checkup yesterday, and I've got one that's got to go. It's a wisdom tooth with a crown and a root canal, which explains why it's caused no pain, but the x-ray shows that it's deteriorating at the root level. It's even a bit loose to the touch, so I'll be calling later today when the office opens to make an appointment. It may be today, or maybe next week. Whenever, I'll be on mushy foods for a few days.
Our daughter Annie is a neuroscience major, and she's invited us to attend a charity hockey game to benefit brain injuries. We may get to meet Ray Borque and Rick Middleton, former Boston Bruins greats, who are scheduled to be there.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
Happy Anniversary - Galaxy, make it a great day for you and YOH!
Mr. B - mine will be on July 26th. It´ll be the 29th anniversary this time. We had plans to go out for Dinner on that day, but I need to cancel it - campaign time!
Good MorningSunny with a high near 74F todayGot some...ermm...'interesting'...news yesterday. Doctor appointment on Monday morning for the possibility of getting something like a 'tummy tuck'. ..ermmm...well, due to the huge weight loss I now have some extra baggy skin around the ol' mid-section...it is most bizarre. ...:chuckgrudenface:Today I'm heading to the LHS to find some Lionel Boxcars for the Xmas layout...

Morning all,
I ran my Intermountain ES44AC PRR Heritage Unit for another 30 minutes last night, and there wasn't any additional improvement in performance. Sort of disappointing, but not a big deal as it will be mainly a display piece. That's disappointing too, but with no layout, and none on the horizon, it is what it is.
Speaking of Norfolk Heritage Units, I finally saw my 1st one last night. After dinner, we stopped and picked up a couple of chocolate milkshakes and drove down to where we watch trains. There on an east bound was the Wabash #1070 in the middle of a 3 engine consist powering a mixed freight. We saw a total of 6 trains in about 2 hours, including an intermodal of about 130 double stacks. As I watched 4 intermodals rolling pass last night, I thought about how many trailer trucks must be replaced by these trains on a daily basis nation wide. I've never seen any numbers, but it must be very impressive. Especially if you have ever driven across the Pennsylvania Turnpike with all its truck traffic.
I'm not sure what's on the schedule for the rest of the day. The hedges need cut, front and back yards need mowed, the first floor needs cleaned, the bathroom needs cleaned... Oh oh. I think I just talked myself into a nap. Everybody have a good one.

Morning All,
Currently it is 61 with an expected high of 93.
Another w**k day for me, but nothing planned for after w**k, so I may do some layout stuff, or w**k on a building kit or two.
Galaxy and Mr. Beasley - Happy anniversary to you and your OTH. A quick anniversary story, My late wife loved yellow roses, so I get this bright idea to buy her one rose for our first anniversary. I then bought two for our second and so on. Well she did not live to see our 43 this year, but I almost went broke for our 42. Who knew how much roses would cost in 42 years.
Prayers to all in need.
Paul
EDIT. I got top so eat up, it is on me.
Living in Fernley Nevada, about 30 miles east of Reno, also lived in Oregon and California, but born In Brooklyn NY and raised on Long Island NY
Mornin' everyone!
Zoe, I'll have the #2 special this morning. Over easy on the eggs, Bacon, home fries, and a double order of sourdough toast. Oh, yes, I'll need a pot of dark roast coffee as well to start the day.
Another "partly/mostly" day here in the Finger lakes Region of NYS. Here it is the 12th. of July and the Solar Panels have yet to give me 200 kWh of power this month.... June and July should be the big months with about 700 kWh of power.
I have to drive out to camp this aftenoon and come with a solution to a mic problem on the inside system. It is possible/probable that there is a problem with one channel on the new mixer. They did have a lightning strike out there near another building, so it may be that got the channel. I should be able to just use one of the two empty channels for the time being if that is the case.
Happy Anniversary to those celebrating!
Have to get a move on. Lots of stuff to do today!

I did get an ecard sent with my own persoanl message of
"I pine for you when you are gone, I rejoice in your presence, I love you every day and am truly thankful you are part of my life!"
Installed on it. MOH got it and gave me a paper card that was hidden in other spots, but fogot to sign it in time for today!
MR B: Congrats to you too! YOU have to remind YOH? That is a bit unusual, maybe?
As I siad, celebration will be low key.
I've had a migraine working all day too, so not in the mood for a big celebration.
the last wo days we have had no rain, and that is first in aobut 6 Weeks!!! Next week humidity levels in the 90% return. Goodie.
Well, best go get mail soon. see what bills I have to pay now.
galaxy As I siad, celebration will be low key.
Yes, us too. I've had a long day. She's doing some dietary thing, so she didn't even want my Thai Curry Soup, which is one of her favorites. So, we'll make our separate dinners and watch the Tour de France. Appropriate, actually, as we were at one stage of Le Tour on our honeymoon. That day, I was aware that Greg Lemond, the first American to win the Tour, was only a few seconds behind Bernard Hinault. When I saw Lemond go by, I started counting. By the time Hinault rode past us, I knew Lemond was ahead. As it turned out, Lemond did take the lead that day and held it all the way to Paris, so it was an historic day on an historic Tour.
Another hour and a half and I'm done for the week.
Afternoon guys
Been mowing the lawn. I think the tractor mower is starting to go out. It sputters a lot now, usually when turning to the right; it creaks and groans all over the place, the blade actuating lever only turns the blades on, but when turned off the blades continue to spin until the mower is shut-off. It's a craftsman, I think it's around 14-17 years old. I remember I was in middle school when my dad got it. Then again, it's been used for more that cutting grass. It's been used to try to pull stumps (exercise in futility), push cars around and up the steep driveway into the garage, been used to teach me, my brother, and my sister how to drive and some other things... It might just need a tune-up or something.
As far as trains are concerned, I got my parents to "forward" me some money to buy an engine to go with my Amtrak cars. I got a Kato F40PH in phase III. This happened to be the last one I could find that wasn't on e-stupid or had ditch lights (too new for me). It happens to be a Kobo shops one, which means I don't have to install the fiddly bits and it comes with a Loksound decoder. So my Amtrak train is an F40PH pulling 3 sleepers, a lounge, 2 coaches, and an amfleet. I'm trying to find a rapido baggae car in Ph. III as well.
Spell check, for some reason, my IE has it. It didn't have it before my father removed Firefox. I wonder if something happened there.
Jeff, have you tried to see if you could get windows 7 on the computer you have? I tried windows 8 and didn't care for it. IMO, Windows 7 is like XP, but with some better features.
Vincent
Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....
2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.
PackerJeff, have you tried to see if you could get windows 7 on the computer you have? I tried windows 8 and didn't care for it. IMO, Windows 7 is like XP, but with some better features.
Got the grass cut. Now I feel like I've been run over by the tractor, several times. The grass was high and took about six hours to cut. I worked a lunch of beef stew and cornbread in there somewhere. Now I'm sore and stiff and I'm sure I'll be somewhat antisocial for a few days.
Evening All,
Made hamburgers for supper and drinking coffee now.
Tomorrow I am going to a train show in Deland then probably on to the train club. I have been installing cylindrical rare earth magnets as uncouplers. I am putting 4 on each track (2 per side with a tie in between them) so it is not so critical to line them up with the couplers.
When I got up this morning I found MOH's 55 gall fish tank draining on the dining room floor. The tank developed a leak on a bottom seam. Thank goodness we have tile on the floor and not wood or carpet.
My daughter told us her adoption of the 2 boys should be finalized within 30 days.
Galaxy- Happy Anniversary to you and YOH.
Jeff- I am really sorry to hear about your foot. What ever you decide I will say prayers for your health.
Hope everyone has a good night and prayers for those in need.

Would you believe it's still 90 here?
Tired and sore tonight so I'm calling it a night a bit early. See y'all tomorrow.
Evenin' folks!
Janie, I'll have a hot cup of decaf to help me relax. Thank you Ma'am.
Went out to camp this afternoon... The storm that came through camp Wednesday took out a bunch of computer equipment in camp, incliuding some of the wi-fi stuff. The ranger got everything back up and running yesterday. They got a lightning hit near the new "Eagle Lodge" at camp where the Sci-Tec camp meets and where the wi-fi stuff is. Even wiped out an old computer down at the lake in the Villages water pump house. The dining hall where the Sound Equipment is only had a couple things get hit with a surge... Of course one was the brand new Yamaha Mixer I just donated! Luckily it was only one channel that got fried. Since I got a larger mixer than was needed, I had two extra channels left. I was able to just move the oinput from the dead mic to a working channel and they are back in business. I am waiting to find out if the mixer can be repaired on warranty or whether I will be donating the repairs as well...
Finished half the lawn this afternoon and also finished the raised bed with the boulder in the front yard as well. Tomorrow I will drive over to a greenhouse to see if they might have some petunias left I could plant in the little garden for this year. Next year it will be planted with strawberries! Moved some more topsoil tonight. Hope to get the 3rd. garden bed filled tomorrow as well as the rest of the lawn done (do the wash, clean some house, get some division stuff accomplished, etc., etc., etc).
I sure would love to find some time to work on the trains downstairs!
I guess it is about time to hit the hay... So Galaxy, what is the history of "Hit the Hay"?
Later!
Good evening ....
Happy anniversary to the "Beasley's" and to the "Galaxy's" ....... Hope it was great!
Curt .... I like the photos of PRR electric locomotives on display.
Spent the day busy with grandkids. This evening was final evening of VBS at the church for the kids. They go home tomorrow. That means we drive half way to Cincinnati to meet their Dad and Mom (our son and DIL) who will be driving from there. We'll have lunch possibly in Elizabethtown, and return home. It's been an enjoyable time. There will be more soon because their Mom and Dad each work, and the girls have no school in the summer.
Not much layout progress with so much non-model-railroad stuff.
Cheers!

I too want to wish those (all) Anniversary Kids a very happy Anniversary and many more. My wife and I will hit the big 40 this November.
Chloe, you cutie you, how about a double RBF. and a couple of chocolate chip cookies, Please and thanks.
Well I finally got some time in the train room today. Spent most of the afternoon laying plaster cloth on the "cut" in the foothills before the river and waterfall leading to Last Mountain, I would say it is about 90% done.
This evening I pulled up the painters tape off the tracks and ran a couple of trains through it to check for clearances and all is well so far. I have room for the gypsum over the plaster so that's great.
Now to find more time to finish this area.
Glad to see Jerry stopping in again, and Big J., those background buildings look greeaat.
We still haven't made it out to the campground this year other than for about four hours one afternoon just to de-winterize it and get it ready for use. Just too many things getting in the way this year. Each year we say it is going to get better, but, it just seems to get worse. maybe next year. ya know -- Next year country.
Jeff, sorry to hear about the foot. Prayers that it will be for the best and you will really start feeling better.
Ulrich, look after yourself those Polite-tics can sure be draining on a person. Petra needs you more than Germany does.
Packer, have you given up on the romantic side of your life ? I always enjoyed hearing about the young ladies that wanted a ride in your Mustang.
Garry. I'm sure enjoying my little Grandson, I know you'll be having a great time with all your G-kids this summer. They will like Grampa's place on the lake.
Rob, How's the train room coming along, we haven't heard in awhile. Is that new little tractor getting all the jobs done that you had hoped for ?
Well, I am back to work for the week-end so I had better hit the hay.
BTW, My Son who just finished Grad School has been offered a job in Billings Montana. He is pondering this very seriously. Similar money to what he was offered in Chi-town but the cost of living is much less in Billings. ------- We will see. He would only be about a nine hour drive from us. That would be great.
Night all and sweet rail dreams.

MAKE IT A GREAT day!!
As Per RAY's request: Hit the Hay:
Meaning:
Go to bed
Origin:
This isn't really an old phrase, it's only about a century old.
The term hay was used in the USA to mean bed since the early 20th century; for example, from People You Know, by the American author George Ade, 1902:
"After Dinner he smoked one Perfecto and then, when he had put in a frolicsome Hour or so with the North American Review, he crawled into the Hay at 9.30 P.M."
In 1902, mattresses were often sacks {big bags} stuffed with straw or hay (hence the similar phrase 'hit the sack').
The phrase 'hit the hay' seems to have originated in the US sports scene. The Oakland Tribune, July 1903, reported this:
"'Sam' Berger, the Olympic heavyweight ... was sleepy and he announced that 'he was going to hit the hay.'"
In 1905, Paxton Sport USA included this:
[the baseball player] "has a language of his own. Going to bed for him is to 'hit the hay.'"
Nice and warm out already. Just about to head out the door for day two of three at the Toronto INDYCAR race. Actual races today which should be better as yesterday was just practice and qualifying. Come time to leave at 4PM I was a little burnt but not bad. Will be there today until about 6pm or so so wont be home until closer to 7:30.
See you guys tonight
Coffee and Eggs Benedict please, thanks.
Sunny, with a high near 84.
Mr B- Happy Anniversary yesterday!
Yesterday was almost a waste of time. If it could go wrong it did and actually it wasn’t me but others this time. Anyway, gotta head out to set somedoors. Sounds like I’ve picked up wo*king on a duplex too. Like simultaneously too. It's rented on the 1st of August as well Oh well, all pays.
EDIT: Eat up. Looks like the page is on me.
mmmmm....welb...good morning....I think.....mmmmmmm
Well...we are having sun and a high of 84F today, going to get way hotter in the next couple of days here...back to the ol' heat and stick...
Today have a bit of a rest then off to the club tonight for a couple more live sets with the new band ...hope this one sticks together...
Happy Anniversaries to Galaxy and MisterB!!
Have a good one!!
Good morning. It's 72° with 75% humidity. The high will be 95°.No plans for today. Woke up this morning feeling like I'd been under an elephant - as the mattress! Very sore and my joints are stiff. Looks like a movie watching day. According to USPS tracking the power supply for the other Apple IIe should have been here yesterday. But it didn't show up. Maybe today. I'm waiting for the tracking site to be updated. Yesterday I started up the old Starflett1 game and worked my way through a mission as the commander of the UGAS Galactica. Won too with an overall efficiency rating of 87.2%. I found three star bases I could resupply at and destroyed seventeen enemy vessels in thirteen days. Hadn't played that in over ten years. I only had to look up one little thing in the manual. How to get damage control to repair a short circuit in the bowling alley and repair the food dispensers before the ship became flooded with vanilla pudding. Boy, major decisions there! I might start up another mission today.
Currently it is 64 with an expected high of 92 under very sunny skies, humidity will be around 14% later on in the day.
I have some grocery shopping to do and then hopefully spend the better part of the day w**king on train stuff. I also need to figure why Adobe Flash player is not working. Whenever I try and watch a video, I get a message that says "you need to install the latest version of Flash Player". I go to the Adobe site, download Flash Player, get the "Flash Player is installed successfully" message, but cannot find the program, and still cannot watch videos, and get the same message. Very frustrating.
