What a nice surprise! It's always good when something I ordered a long time ago suddenly shows up in my mailbox. Today there was a nice diesel engine made by BRAWA:
...and three passenger cars made by PIKO:

The Breitenbach - Rosenheim Railroad V3
I finished the ramp to the station, adding the second layer of roadbed and painting it all. Now it's ready for track.
Another test, making sure all turnouts fit and that I have enough:
I couldn't resist, I just had to make sure the long express train fits into the station...
I've glued down all 130 pieces of the first roadbed layer this morning:
Here's the last piece of the Bad Adomeit station. Tomorrow I will start gluing down roadbed.
I made some more progress this afternoon:
Everything is now screwed and glued:
I'm starting to put the station on risers. Nothing is screwed in place yet, I need to fill the two gaps first:
This afternoon I got busy with my saw:
I cut out a big question mark today:
I've added the service area, turntable, roundhouse, and other service tracks:
I kept working yesterday late afternoon until I reached the other end of the Bad Adomeit station:
I hated the idea of putting plywood on the already laid track but there was no other way to do it. Hopefully nothing will get damaged...
I fired up the laser this morning and produced a few pieces of roadbed so I could get started on the Bad Adomeit station. It's about halfway done:
At some point I will have to make buildings and one of the main features of buildings in Germany are the tiled roofs. So I spent a few hours today to figure out greyscales and laser settings to get my laser to engrave a halfway convincing pattern. This is what it looks like so far. It will need some improvement but I think I can work with this:
The mainline has reached the next tunnel and the ramp that leads to the Bad Adomeit station:
The mainline is slowly getting longer:
I laid a few more feet of track today:
I had to at least check how a train will look on the new main line:
I'm out of the tunnel. That's so much fun!
tedtedderson "He's back!"
Oh yes, I am !
Michael,
I was browsing the forum and came across one of your comments in another thread. "He's back!", i said to my wife after finding this thread. Several months out of the loop but very excited to get up to speed on your new layout. I know nothing about German prototype but I'm looking forward to watching your progress. Very cool indeed!

It's done! The staging yard is complete!
Here's the transition from the PIKO code 100 to the more prototypical Tillig code 83 track. Also, as this is the border to the next power district, all rails have insulators:
I didn't get it all done today but there is always tomorrow.
Before I can lay track in the visible area I have to finish the staging yard first:
During my lunch break I painted the roadbed as far as I have it installed. Now I can lay the first track that will be part of the visible layout!
I have started to add the second layer of roadbed:
SouthPenn Will you be adding catinary for your electric locomotives?
Will you be adding catinary for your electric locomotives?
Yes !
The hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico is sending rain bands over Central Florida so you don't really know when the weather will allow you to work outside. So when I saw sunshine after my lunch I decided to take a short break from work and cut the three sheets of plywood that will form the base for the Bad Adomeit station:
I've started working on the ramp to the Bad Adomeit station:
