Ha, I know where you are coming from. Just got back from visiting her family, I have a few days of vacation left to go, but somehow I am getting a list of things to do instead of work on my projects.

It's funny, I'm officially on vacation and should have plenty of time for the layout but somehow being on vacation seems to mean doing all kinds of projects for my wife. That can't be right!
Because of this I only added a few details to the bridge today. We'll see what tomorrow will bring...

The viaduct is growing bit by bit...
I've started to fill in the arches:
It's Christmas! My wife made me smile with this little train:
hon30critterOkay, I'll play your silly game! I won't tell you what colour socks I'm wearing until tomorrow! How's that?!?
Way to let'em have it Dave, as a fellow Canadian I'm proud of you.

Keep me waiting eh? Okay, I'll play your silly game! I won't tell you what colour socks I'm wearing until tomorrow! How's that?!? Touche!
Enjoy your Christmas Eve.

I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
hon30critter Michael, How will you fill the underside of the arches? Just curious. Dave
Michael,
How will you fill the underside of the arches? Just curious.
Come back tomorrow and you'll see !
Making some more progress:
One side of the viaduct has the stone layer glued on now:
I'm still busy making parts for the big stone arch bridge, it just has been a very hectic week with not much time for the hobby…
The result of a Sunday's worth of laser engraving:
I don't know where you find the time. I will say this, when I was busy laying track, etc. I would basically "zone out" into the process and the stress of the work day would disappear.
nycmodelYou must be retired and have a very understanding wife what with the time you put into the layout.
Wrong with the first, correct with the second. I work full time for 2 companies but I sure have an understanding and very supportive wife.
If I ever retire I need a bigger room .
I have just started following this thread. All I can say is wow! That is Club level space you have. You must be retired and have a very understanding wife what with the time you put into the layout. Your track laying progress (who's quality appears to be excellent) is exhausting just to follow. Looking forward to the ongoing progress!
That is really nice
I have started to make the visible parts of the viaduct. This one cover piece takes 75 minutes to engrave which means that all parts including the bridge heads will take about 35 hours. Have to be patient!
...and growing!
...and growing...
The Bridge is growing...
The humble beginnings of the stone arch bridge:
SouthPenn Wow, that looks like a large river. I imagine there will be a very impressive bridge going across it. Stone arches?
Wow, that looks like a large river. I imagine there will be a very impressive bridge going across it. Stone arches?
You'll be disappointed, the river will be a lot smaller. It will run kind of diagonal across this area so I had no choice as to take out 2 cross beams and put in such a wide piece of plywood. And yes, the bridge will be a stone arch bridge .
There will be a river crossing the peninsula so I had to make a base for it:
michaelrose55 Erie1951 Will you be adding un-powered catenary in order to put your pantograph-equipped locomotives "under the wire"? Yes, I will. It looks silly to run electric locomotives with the pantograph down. The funny part will be installing catenary in the helix because the clearance isn't big enough for the fully extended pantographs. We'll see how that goes...

Hello, Michael...Not only is your work impressive, the layout size is almost breathtaking! Will you be adding un-powered catenary in order to put your pantograph-equipped locomotives "under the wire"?
Today I built the base for the helix:
7j43k As your trackwork grows, your "free" tabletop tool storage will disappear. I recommend some high quality audio-visual carts: https://www.amazon.com/Presentation-Adjustable-3-Outlet-Electrical-Assembly/dp/B00KEER2WQ/ref=sr_1_29_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1544571922&sr=8-29-spons&keywords=audio-visual+cart&psc=1 You can leave your stuff on them and move them around easily. If you're lucky, they'll fit under your layout. Ed

That looks interesting, thanks Ed!
