Dave,
I'm not the best when it comes to wiring...

Michael:
I agree with what the others have said. Please keep posting your daily updates.
When you get to the stage where you are doing all the wiring I hope you will post in detail as well. As you might be aware, I'm involved in the construction of a new club layout so I want to see as many methods of construction as I can, and I have an admitted lack of detailed knowledge and experience with wiring methods.
Thanks,
Dave
I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
You asked for this so here it comes... more track at Barnesville:
Keep the posts coming. I enjoy following your progress even though I'm envious of the beautiful layout you're building .

michaelrose55 It's not about the work, I just don't want to post incremental updates if that's too boring. I'm having lots of fun anyway !

I definitely enjoy seeing the updates regularly.
I look forward to your updates. They motivate me to get off my butt and work on my layout. Please keep up the good work.
tedtedderson I would miss them. But you're the one doing all the work.
I would miss them. But you're the one doing all the work.
Should I keep posting these updates? For the next two or three weeks all I will be doing is laying track at Barnesville...
Here's today's progress:
I started to lay track at the Barnesville yard today:
I made it into the Barnesville freight yard:
I finished laying the passenger station track:
richhotrain Michael, you're brave, placing crossovers under bridges. Rich
Michael, you're brave, placing crossovers under bridges.
Yes, I'm brave, I'm still married after 37 years !
I added code 40 guardrails to the bridge track:
I finally made it to the Barnesville passenger station today:
I added more track to the tunnel behind the Barnesville yard today:
If everything goes well I might reach the Barnesville passenger station tomorrow.
This afternoon I found some time to lay more track:
Our yard still looks terrible but at some point this week it will be cleaned up. And don't you worry, I'm not doing it myself. I leave chain saws and anything related to professionals... The only size tree I like to deal with are trees in 1:160 scale . Even 1:87 is already too big for me !
I don't know how much sense all that cleaning will make anyway as the next storm is already underway and so far is following Irma's track. More fun to come!
Before the power went away last week I laid more track. The 3 track main line loop is complete and the track made it across the bridge into the next tunnel as well:
Good news and welcome back!
Gale
We're back. We lost power on Wednesday morning when a tree decided to fall and destroy the power line to our street (better late then never...). Power came back yesterday afternoon, cable, phone and internet came back late morning today.
We have no damage to the house or the office railroad building but plenty of broken off branches and a few trees that toppled over.
Without power and with a layout room that has no windows I couldn't do any work for almost a week and today I don't even seem to be in the mood. But it's good to have A/C again!
Thanks for that info and update, Mark.
For those who follow Michael's thread, a compatriot of his posted on another forum that Michael, his family AND the layout survived the hurricane just fine. Apparently he has a few downed trees on his property, but that was reported to be the only significant damage.
Michael has no internet connection right now, but I'm sure we'll be seeing plenty more when he gets that restored.

Michael, how is everything in the aftermath of the hurricane?
Here comes track #2:
While it's raining outside I'm inside laying track . I started with the outer track of the big mainline curve:
Here's an update on Irma: it's raining but not much and so far no wind.
I'll be laying more track and hope we won't lose power.
