I hope these aren't duplicates but this is my contribution. If anyone wants a higher resolution of any of these posters, let me know and I'll post a larger one. Thanks for maintaining this thread, Tomkat!

Happy Modeling! Ed

Hello tomkat-13,

I am looking for small narrow signs for dry cleaning or laundry type services.  Have enjoyed looking at all of the posts you have submitted to this topic, but haven't seemed to locate any.  Do you know where I can find some?

Thanks!

Mark

Most signs are pre-1970 as that is the era I model, but many of these signs survive in rural & small towns beyound this time frame. Feel free to use these signs on your buildings & layouts. Also can you post some photographs to share so others can see how best to use these signs.

You can take photos of buildings for your backdrop & add signs to them.

Resolution may not be an issue for billboards, provided that they are several feet away from the viewer.  An HO billboard 3 feet away from the viewer does not need to have good detail to be acceptable.  What's the point in super-detailing scenes that the viewer can't see up close?

Great thread - I'm going to use some of these on my layout.

When I copied the signs I pasted them in MS Publisher. Then I had to change the Publisher file to a JPG file then send it to photobucket then on to the MR Forum. Each step the file loses something. If you want better images just go to google images, ebay, or any auction site looking for signs then copy & paste into what ever desktop that you can resize for your scale. I just use MS Publisher but you could use MS word or any photo editing software. As you can see any of the photos I posted that signs make things more life-like on your layout. Please post photos if you use any signs so others can see how it makes scenes come alive.

No, I bought two different news stands at my local hobby shop.  I used one in each of two different subway stations.  I did install a light in it.

Looks like the images work well for signs. My small HO layout has one billboard and no signs but I'll keep that in mind.

Did you make the newstand?

I doubt the thread is that fragile.

I don't know about anyone else, but I don't use them to make billboards, I use them to make signs.

Here are some in a subway station.

Well......

Normally I *can* do this, but these for some reason do not lend themselves to this process. Other things that I download from the Internet will do this. these will not. The precision is just not there.

too bad...
