Morning!

Been doing benchwork for the Christmas layout...didn't have time to post photos...maybe today.  Rectangular section done, radius corner next up.  1/2" x 3" plywood 16"o.c. with 1/2" x 2" @ 16" o.c. laid flat for stability...very light somewhat stable...will cover with (2) 1" layers of foam.

Evenin' Dudes, Dudettes and The Cheshire Cat (a.k.a. Chief)

Haven't been around very much, drop in and quick check every now n' then.

Busy as heck, kinda like trying to stuff 10# of stuff into a 5# bag.

Finally starting to get the hang of MS Vista, Black Eye [B)] .

Got the Christmas layout from last year, was still up in the living room, stripped down to the sub-roadbed and rebuilding with new track configurations  and upper level size.  Got a couple of days left to finish it up prior to Thanksgiving, livingroom is kinda looking like a junk room with all the stuff scattered around, but it's gettin' there. Biggest pain is doing the painting, since I'm in the livingroom I'm not about to use my regular spray can method. I value my life !  Big Smile [:D]

My grandson's Christmas stuff came, Thomas set and James, test run and works great. Now I have to hide them and avoid the temptation til Christmas. Also the HW set that I got my wife came but haven't tested it yet, but it does look pretty sweet.  Thumbs Up [tup]

Chief, Any truth to the rumor that Morris is retiring and that was an audition ?  Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Better stop before I get in trouble.   Whistling [:-^]

P.S. Almost forgot Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup] for #48, J.J., gotta root for the local boy. Approve [^]

Roy, did you get NYC wired and running?

Yep. Looking good and running great. For you New Yawkers, the grand opening is tomorrow morning at 8 am at Grand Central Terminal MTA Museum Annex (one door down from the Rite Aid drugstore - where you come from the "S" subway train). The layout will run daily (except Christmas and New Years Day) until mid-January.

Chocolate chip cookies, hot and a little soft with a glass of cold milk is my favorite!

Never got to the layout today, but hopefully this week...  If anyone is trying to figure out what track to use for a new layout or wants tips and tricks for working with a certain type/brand of track, it looks like this Peter Riddle Trackwork book is good.  John S sold me on trying some gargraves flex track and I'll be replacing the fastrack loop that came with the HWX this week some times.  I'm going to just put it on the plywood for now, while I test it out.  The Riddle book has a whole section on this track alone.  I'll try and add a couple Ross switches and some sidings etc in the near future, but Christmas, chairs and a recent raid on a LHS have emptied my train allowance for a couple months.  Every time I say that, I find something I've just got to have, though....

Good Evening, Y'all!

Had a good morning at Church and then lunch with the family.  After a good nap, I got some wiring done on the layout.  Just ran a loop of 14/3 wire, will use one for switch power, one for accessories, and then common.  I even had a little help from my 5 year old.

Roy/Doug, Hoboken is neat, lots of history.  If you find yourself over there again, gotta stop at Arthur's for steak....it is VERY GOOD!  As you have mentioned, the architecture and neat old buildings are great to look at.  I got to see it all the time and as is typical, never got pictures.  Now I miss it and don't have photos to go back on.

Chief, watch out for foxes, they are very much prone to rabies.  Some indians had them at the festival this weekend.  They were selling the skins, which are beautiful.  You may want to look into that.

PhilaKnight, congratulations!  I have a good friend retired  having spent years on SWAT/SERT.  They used to laugh at him as he had Marine sniper training and would always grab the 870 Wingmaster....his logic, don't have to aim, just point.  He also used a tactic to fire at the ground just in front of the perp and take out the legs...if possible.  From SWAT, he quickly climbed the ranks and retired as CAPT.

May everyone be blessed this week,

Dennis

EVENING FOLKS

They use to but those big keys on the back of VW bugs, some had a Rolls Royce grill. very neat.

Brutus- I've had my ice cream and pie but we still have some for you. you will have to share with Chewy though. That P&D store is  the forth move, I worked in all four. The first one was about the size of a pizza take out store. each move was to a larger bldg. It would take a while to order lionel parts if it was a remake from the 50s as some parts use the original number and some would have a new number so i would spend a lot of time finding part numbers for what I needed to get.If you ordered wrong it would come back no stock. too many like that they just returned the whole thing unfilled. One of those "I remember when"   Sir James

Good luck with the foxes, Chief.  Son was eating some chicken and lost a tooth!  Short version of the story, he was still hungry, but didn't want chicken, so we told him to go find something soft to eat.  He came back in a little while with a sandwich - a KETCHUP sandwich!  Laugh [(-D]

Doug, I saw a lady driving a Mini-Cooper the other day and they had a large wind-up key mounted on top, I am not kidding.  It was so cool!

Texas switched places with NC this summer.  They got too much rain and when I flew in the other month, they were mowing and everthing was GREEN.  Now in NC, no mowing and everything was brown.

Just back from the pond feeding the deer.  They were waiting for me when I came back out.  Got feeding places at the pond and then at the bottom of the solid rock I drive up from the pond.  They walked away but would not come back out for 15 minutes.  I sat at the top of the hill with everything off and waited.  Place was full of foxes running around like cats.  Think it is time for the .17 and the squalling rabbit tape.  Thin a few out.
