Thanks all for the compliments.  After telling about the layout and things I've done it is nice to share pictures.  The shelves are 3 inch wide 1/4 plate glass.  The brackets are 2 1/2 "L" brackets held up with drywall anchor screws.  The leg against the wall points up, and is hidden by the stuff on the shelf.  Took a dab of caulk on each bracket to keep the shelf in place.  Here is a pic of the shelf showing the bracket, the bracket on the shelf and the wall anchors.  While I'm posting more pisc here is a view of the mural.  Thanks again

Evening guys, (and gals.....I know Lisa and others are on too), Had a late day with work on 3 hours sleepZzz [zzz]  I had to work on the truck (bronco) as the back window went down, but would not go back up.  After checking the fuses and the rear key activation, determined it to be the micro switch/lock lever.  Was not able to spend the time to bend the lever adjustment, so had to bypass the microswitch to temporarily get the window up till I can spend the time.

It was good to talk with the Chief tonight.  The world would be a better place if more folks like him were in it.  I really need to make more phone calls and keep in contact with some of y'all.  Life just seems to keep me too busy.

Have a great night.

Good evening,

Chief, I tried to call you just about the time of your last post, no answer, guess you were on line.  How did you make out with seting the TIU?

Jim S.,  Nice pictures of the tain room and layout.  How are the shelves supported?  Can't see any brackets.  My other hobby, one of them, is woodworking also, that is a mighty fine control panel.

Don, Glad you got your TCA card.  Can't remember how far ahead they mail out the notices about York, but someone on this or the other forum will start a thread when they get their's so you will know it is coming.

"Lucy, I'm home!!"  Shot rifles yesterday and this AM.  Left at 11AM to go to the Seaborad Railroad Depot Restaurant.  Not in depot.  Very good buffett.  Then went to restored Hamlet Seaboard Airline RR Depot.  Still is Amtrac in part of it.  Got pictures [later when I get time].  Big HO layout in basement.  Actually Hamlet in 1945 [when Seaboard was converting from steam to diesel].

BTW: hot out the 10 "X" at 100 yards with .17.  Shot group size of 2 inch across circle at 200 yards.  Shot out the 10 ring at 45 yards with .22 Mag.

Rifles to clean.  Run some trains.  Micro wave popcorn as ate too much for lunch.  Later.

Both the train room and the Crusader train pics are very impressive. I did not know the Reading had such a train.

Boy, does that make good sense!  I mean they are trains, not what you would consider life essential.

Jim S - Those pictures are great!!  Very attractive display, are the shelves glass or RRTrax?  Now there must be a layout attached to the control panel, you got more pictures to take!!

Fantastic Contol Panel/Box, really nice!

Good morning from a sunny and cool Crystal Lake where it might go into the 50s today - unheard of for January in Illinois - come to think of it though, it has been warm in other El Nino years. Anyway, I love it. Hope to run trains tonight as the bride is going into Chicago to stay overnight with a girlfriend - I think I'll unexpectedly have to take the day off. That Crusader sure looks sharp. I liked the photo in the Feb. CTT that showed it all silver.

We ran post war trains last night. Our 2034 and our 2018 steamers. Each one pulled a string of post war freight cars. Also had the Williams Alcos pulling a passenger train on the inner loop. Had a good time.

Very tired today. Wifey woke me up in the middle of the night Tuesday night and I couldn't return to sleep for hours. Now I can't seem to catch up. Maybe I'll head home early today and rest.  I hope I feel better for the Chief's visit on Monday. He owes me a dinner!

Morning all.  Beautiful morning here in SW PA.  Going to work out in about an hour and then a conference call at noon for the NHL AllStar Game.  Will finish the PE upgrade as soon as the thether comes.  I'm really excited about this.  It is a pretty cool product so far as I have seen.  I am actually going to let it run on the layou downstairs for a while to really give it the old college test.

Have a great day!

Hello all!  It is foggy/rainy/cloudy and 60 today in North Florida (where Florida begins?)

I took a side trip to another LHS, yesterday and found some interesting buys, took bad that Christmas has taken such a toll on my back account!Whistling [:-^]  There were some CNJ stuff for 20% off this weekend only (all Lionel)!  Call me crazy, but they also had some nice engine/tender combos with TMCC (for layaway) for less than $400.  I may have to run back and see what interests me!

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a clear, blue sky, 35 degrees. Going up to 55 again, with sunshine.

Today is an errand running day. Locally. I have to pick up a few things at the Hardware store and a couple of other stops. Nothing really new on the train front. I need to get some lumber for supports and then I can begin framing the new benchwork for the upper level. Our engineering dept. is trying to figure out the details. Almost done.

Dining Car is here and serving breakfast. Be back later.

Y'all have a great Thursday.

John,
Nice looking train!  The Crusader is definitely an eye catcher! Cool [8D]

Well I started the FasTrack testing last night.  I had two trains running and I could barely stand it in the room! Sad [:(]

I found the carpet padding and I have enough to cover the entire layout!  So I think I have enough to start cutting FasTrack inserts.  I turned the sections over last night and realized Lionel added cross members to each section making the areas smaller, but making it more difficult to pad because I now have to cut more inserts!

Good morning all,

It is a mild and clear day (for now) with temps heading to the 50s and rain on the way.  Jefelectric, that is one nice looking set you had in the pictures.  I worked outside last night.  I took down the outside lights and moved some stuff around in a lean-to next to the barn so I could get my dad's old car (1991 Dodge Spirit) parked in it.  He is going to let Lucas use it when Lucas gets his license.  We had somebody renting it, but we are going to have them move out.  We also need some repairs done to the doors on the lean-to as well (long story).  It was a busy night, but at least it was fairly warm for this time of year.

I echo the earlier sentiments expressed about Lionel getting back into tinplate.  It will be interesting to see what they do make.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Dennis,

That is a nice looking Hudson! If they weren't so expensive, I'd like to get one. My LHS is selling one for $500+.

I just hope they are not Hiawatha's,State Set's, Blue Comet's, or 400Es as they have been reproduced many times over the last 35 Years. There is still plenty of prewar for Lionel to re-produce indeed. Take Care All.

Keith,

Glad to hear that you got your set! It sounds like a beauty, too. And I agree that using the mechanical e-unit and 3 pole motor is the right way to power these reproductions.

My kids want a tin plate Blue Comet set in the worst way. Maybe I'll come across one someday.

Have a nice day, all!

Morning everyone.  Up early as my stomach is "tore-up" as they say down here.  Dead [xx(]  I woke to find some good news, I won an auction for a MTH hudson, this will be my first MTH engine, so I am interested in how I will like it.  It does have the protosound, but I want to install TMCC.  Anyway, hope to report on it when it arrives.  I posted a shot of this on the thread inquiring of a hudson for a set of madisons I recently got.

Keith, I second your thoughts on the tinplate remakes.  I look forward to seeing some photos of her running your rails.  It sounds like a real nice engine.  I would also like to see some of the other engines you mentioned.

John - Nice train!!  Looking forward to seeing your layout!!!

We went to the club tonight and ran our Cotton Belts in a lash-up, they sure worked well.  Had a consist of auto carriers, 4 double stack container cars, and a couple of tank cars.  Really ran great!

Took the day off, and put about 20, 33 gal clear trash bags full of boxes in the attic.  Doubled th bags, protect the boxes a little.  Hopefully they should be well protected.

Doug (dagrump), looks like I will be making a trip down your way this weekend.  Doing a presentation in Temecula on Saturday.  Wife is talking about going and spending a little time a the Casino while I'm doing my thing.  Iam hoping to bring her by the Museum so she can see it.   Realize your off on Saturday.

Loking forward to getting the next OGR, to read David's article, probably won't receive it until Saturday at the earliest.

Later...

Yes on the station sounds, specific to the Crusader.  Could well be Julie, the backdrop is imported. Smile [:)]

Laz,

Had to go to 3 mail order shops, engine at one, 4 car set at another and add on cars at the third, none available locally.  Don't think they made too many.  MTH had none left when I started looking for one.

BTW, got three train mags in the mail today.  Trains, MR & OGR.  Our own David Vergun has an article in OGR about building a switch stand.

Has anyone else seen it?
