  JIM,

I'm also looking for either Lionel or MTH (PS 2.0) NYC F3s ABA.  Anyone know where I can get one?

I went shopping yesterday with the Chief and bought a few things (didn't want to look cheapo). I bought an MTH Santa Fe streamliner passenger car, a Weaver New Haven State of Maine car, a set of wooden Santa Fe FTs made by lionel (for the boys), and a Cadillac by K-Line for our layout. Passed on a nice K-Line Rio Grande box car with sprung metal trucks for $13.95.

What I found interesting about the little wooden FTs was that they have the exact same number on them as our electric Lionel FT - 158.

So what have you bought lately? And are you happy with it?

JIM,

I recently won a costomized Old Milwaukee reefer.  It has the Swedish Bikini Team and the new logo for the beer.  Looks good. all for $46.00, a bit high but I figured what da hey?

Laz and John, my sincerest condolences on your losses.

As of 9a.m. this morning I'm retired for the 2nd time. BUT  On the way home I stopped at Memory Station to say hello and was asked if I retired yet.  Replying yes, Lewis asked if I'd be interested in a true part time job covering for when he's at meets/shows and has other things to tend to.  Talk about a short lived break.  Since he's heading to Savanah tomorrow we'll work out the details next week.

Morning all,

Slept in a bit due to starting night shift tonight so I'll only be up for 23 hours!  Going to apply a second coat of stain on the bookcase once the garage / shop warms up.  Cold here but clear.  Finally got all the Christmas stuff down, 14 boxes to return to the basement.

I envy you all with multiple hobby shops within easy driving distance.  We've got one in town and limited inventory.   Did a little work on the layout, added a wrecker and outhouse to the gas station area.  Thinking about other things to do???

Check back later

Jim F, Lionroar is right on Norton.  I upgraded a 2 years ago and it bombed.  Called support and they had me delete everything Norton out and re-install.  Worked then.  Looks liek they would tell you.  So when the re-up came in this past fall, I just re-uped and not upgraded.  Still not perfect but works OK.  Antispam still puts items from approved email addresses in anitspam and some spam slips through.  Does block spies trying to gt into ocmputer.

Well, I figured the box in the interstate was a Yankee plot to get this REB and the Southern Sympathizer.  See, I am always on my guard when I cross the Mason-Dixon. Wink [;)]  Great visit with Jimbo.  Poor guy must never get food.  Went to restaurnat and ordered.  Right in the middle of eating, 3Rail Mike called my cell.  A few words later, Jim's plate was empty.  Bone empty.  You would have thought it had been placed on the floor and the dog had licked it clean.  Shock [:O]Wink [;)]

Cold here compared to the past few weeks.  Was 33 at 8:30.  Got to run for now.  Later.

Jim F. - Two weeks ago, I would have said I never had an issue with Norton. My son, home on break from college, had to renew the virus protection subscription on his laptop. While it downloaded successfully, it still said he had 0 days left on his subscription! Banged Head [banghead] On top of that, the drivers for the DVD-RW disappeared. After three hours!!! of back and forth, I got the computer to accept the new subscription. The drivers are gone for good. Tried downloading them, no soap. He's back in Birmingham, sans DVD-RW, hoping someone at UAB's IT dept. can help him out.

Jim A. & Chief - Sounds like you had a great time! One day, I'd like to see a really nice hobby shop like Charles Ro.

Clear and cold this AM in central Alabama. Looks like a nice day! Smile [:)]

Good morning all,

It is sunny and mild in SE Indiana with temps rising to the 50s today.  Laz, sorry to hear about the loss of your friend.  As others here have noted, it is very tough to lose some one close and one never knows what or when medical problems will arise.  That is why I still play soccer.  Perhaps the best way for me to expire would be a heart attack right after I score the winning goal in a championship game.  At least they could say I died with my cleats on :-).

I did receive something nice in the mail yesterday.  I got a Christmas card from my Norwegian soccer friends.  I e-mail them from time to time and I have not heard from them in a while and I sometimes wonder if I matter to them, and then I get a card or a message and I know they are still thinking of me.

Last night was busy.  There was nothing significant that I did, but the time went by quickly.  Tonight I am going to HS basketball game.  Some of "my" soccer girls play this strange roundball sport indoors where they use their hands to handle the ball and they shoot the ball at a high net without a goalie in front of it.  They do run up and down a field made of wood and they do pass the ball and play offense and defense, but it is still very different from soccer :-)  (I can only imagine Buckeye Riveter's response to the above as he is originally from the Hoosier state, and he knows what basketball means to Indiana....and Purdue).

Blueberry Hill should be showing up at the dining car anytime now.  Maybe I will stay for a while.

I was showing my wife the Chief's picture on the March CTT.  She noticed the resemblance between that and the picture on the forum :-)

I hope everyone has a nice day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It's a sunny 23 degrees, going up to a sunny 50. Spring ??

Today, I have a few chores to do around the house. Then, I will spend time in the rain room, working on the layout. And running some trains, for sure. I have some new track to lay ( tubular ) and my switches should be here today. Have to get to work.

Good to see that Chief...is home safely.

Here comes the Dining Car. Time for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Thursday.

Thanks for the condolences for my friend.  They are to burry him at FT. Indiantown Gap this morning with full military honors.  He was also a retired Col. in the reserve.

Laz, sorry for your loss.  Friends like that are hard to come by, cherish them for as long as they grace your life.

Chief, glad you made it back to NC!  We didn't get any maple syrup rain last night so I guess you didn't get my request before your flight.  Better luck next time!

Jaabat, gotta love when you find those 'mispriced' items!  LOL!  SCREEECH!!!!!  I love the smell of burning brakes in the morning!

I have no idea what is taking place with the 0-8-0.  I sent CharlesRo support an email to see if they are sending the correct item, what to do with the incorrect item, etc.  Hopefully I can get this straightened out.  If I don't have an email by 10:00am I'll give them another call.  They are very nice, but I'm thinking I should have stuck with Grand Central... Sigh [sigh]

Colder than a witch's.... oh nevermind.... 19 degrees when I started the bimmer this morning.  Supposed to get back up into the 50's by Saturday - gotta love MD weather!

Anyhoo - weather man said today that late Jan, Feb, early March we could see some significant/borderline blizzard like snow!  Oh what fun!  Big Smile [:D]Laugh [(-D]Whistling [:-^]

I'm just going to wait a week and see if they don't distribute a fix via liveupdate.  I know that it activated 2 days ago but not yesterday and there were updates from Windows both nights, so I suspect that Microsoft bottom blew their program.  I'll bet a dollar (or a dinar or whatever) that they distribute a liveupdate fix for this i nthe near future.

Jim - I too hate Norton... Every tome I tried it it was more trouble than it was worth. Did you ever think of getting a Mac, we have none of that junk in Mac OS X.

Mitch

I've been running Norton for over 5 years... no problems.  The key is to uninstall whatever product you are installing first.  If you are upgrading NIS, then uninstall your earlier version, then install the new version.  Never had an issue.  I don't use their SystemWorks because it is a huge resource hog and I value my RAM and CPU.

MACs don't have problems because they aren't widely used.  Why would someone want to write a virus that won't do any damage to businesses?  That is their purpose.  MACs are more prevalent in the Graphics Industry and those companies aren't very profitable.

Oh, and try developing a website on a MAC and have it appear correctly on a PC!  LOL!  Have fun!  Big Smile [:D]  I, on the other hand, develop sites on a PC and they appear fine on a MAC.  Wonder where the incompatibility lies?

Also, the MAC OS is built off the UNIX operating system, or a generic flavor there of.  Try getting out of the GUI and do something from a Command Prompt.  MACs don't let you do this.  Sorry, but I'll stick with greater flexibility, a 4+ button mouse, and the machine that keeps me employed!  Big Smile [:D]

Good morning everyone.

I had the distinct pleasure of spending yesterday with the Chief. We toured New England train shops from the relative comfort of my old Chevy. The Chief seemed to enjoy the stores we visited, and filled his travel bags with MTH products (no accounting for tasteWink [;)]). But he failed to mention the great bargain I got at Mountain Trains - a Weaver NH State of Maine car for $24.99! All the others were marked $48.00! Looooooooved it!!! I always seem to do well in that store . . . Whistling [:-^] He also failed to mention the harrowing ride to Charles Ro. We had to dodge a huge box that magically appeared in the middle of Rt. 93! Only by the grace of God and my incredible driving skills did we not flip over and crash, avoiding that thing! I slowed the car down to 85 mph for the rest of the ride. Ooooh, I think that's our exit, Chief! Holdon!! Wink [;)]

After a great meal, it was back to the airport, and our adventures had come to an end much too soon. I had a great time traipsing around 2 New England states with the Chief! Thank you!!!

Happy Birthday, Dennis!

Sorry for your loss, Laz.

Have a nice day, all!

Didn't sleep well due to wind, took a Rennie, but wind outside even worse. Snowstorm

Windy here in UK. They've had to switch the wind generators off because it's too windy, They don't work in still air, so what is their purpose?
