Reggie - Nice to have you back, sir.  Perhaps a glass covered coffee table with an N-scale layout for the living room.  Then get back to building that O gauge empire in the TRAIN room.  Cincy is a big railroad town, so you shouldn't have to look hard for inspiration.

well im actually going to build me a n scale laout on a 4x8 sheet of plywood in the livingroom maybe the 1/4 inch thick size that way it isn't so heavy. the basement that has the room for a nice size layout will the storage room for all the stuff that we want use in the house. thats th room i want but my wife insisted that i build the one in the livingroom that way she and the baby can be a little more involved. so i jump and said yes to that. as i want have to walk up and down the stairs to the trainroom. i will only have to go downstairs to make a few cuts, or go to the train store. well i went to the tri county mall in cincy on saturday the 1st of december and they had a very nice train layout in ho up and running. i talked to the guy and he said that they will still be set up and running for the next 2 or 3 days for any of you guys interested. i will make a trip up to the museum to check out the layout buckeye told me about. hope all is well with everyone and take care.

I have a dentist appointment in the morning and then see eye doctor the next day.

Just got done testing out the G Polar express all parts there and working volume not so great on sounds but I like it, hope the Blue/silver Lionel lines desiel pass set will be marked down after Christmas.

Reggie, You can do a lot with N scale on a coffe table setup(a little larger than the avarage table) build the layout then box it in and make a glass top to keep dust out of layout.

Reggie, Don't know what kinda space you will be allocated ( Wink [;)] ) in the living room but check out fife's layout in the current issue of CTT. Relatively small footprint but very imaginative use of the space, not only that but it looks pretty cool to. Thumbs Up [tup]

Just lost my long post, so here is the short version :(

Got back from KC - had nice pre-Christmas Christmas with wife's family.  Was supposed to go to train store with FiL and son.  BiL and nephew decided to tag along and somehow the train store got deleted from plans.  OTOH - we went to the WWI museum which was terrific and while we were there, a visiting expert showed up and gave a special tour about WWI tank warfare that ended with us getting a peek at a new buy - a WWI French tank (MT17?) type used by Patton!  This one was "killed" by a piece of field artillery and the engine was blown up.  I took pics on my phone and if I can download them, I'll post them one day.

Reg - welcome back!  I had an O27 layout that was a loop with two reversing loops inside and 2 spurs on a 30 by 80 layout in the living room - lots of toy action for me and the kids!

Gregm - Looks like a great baby!  Congrats!

Sir James, any icecream left over?

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

I think he meant that someone could help you with sound of the engine.

Good evening everyone,

Well, I walked into the laundry room earlier, and what do you know, there's water all over the floor. Turns out that the washer had an unexpected leak. My mom is shopping for a new washer tomorrow.

I'm thinking of putting a Christmas layout up in the basement. It'll have to be on the floor because I'm not willing to spend $300 on tables.

Have a good night everyone.

Was just at the gr forum and a lot of negative comments about the set but my only complaint is the volume which apperantly has no control. May be one of lionels turkey nominees. but it was less the the ogauge version and I intend to use it around the tree mostly.

Anyone have the O gauge Polar express what do you think of it?

As just an interesting tid bit included with the manual of the G gauge Polar express was a card to subscribe to OGR magizineConfused [%-)]

Dunno why, but I just checked the front door on a whim and found a box that has been sitting in a puddle all weekend Sad [:(]  Inside were my new MTH W&ARR cannon car, arrista figures, gargraves pins and protosmoke (Christmas flavor).  Box fell apart but everything else looks like it's okay - will watch for rust though!

CSX - yeah, I saw those and they also have some with ethernet connectors you can plug into your router and make backup for the whole network, that would be super cool!

I have heard of them too. I have a Western Digital external harddrive right now, it's good for 500GB, which is more than what I'll need it for.

Sorry, thought you were already off - I'll be right over.  Chewy is really worn out from the two trips in 3 days, plus being at grandma and grandpa's always wears out our furry daughter.  Too much excitement going on!

Oh - BTW, stopped at a train store on the way home from KC - mostly N and HO and my son wanted to know if he can get his own trainset some day!?  I told him I'll build him his own table and help him get it set up however he wants it - Thumbs Up [tup]

Good night.  Had great parade and I waved real good from my convertible. Approve [^]  Pam fed a bunch and then she went to the mall with her buddy Beth.  While they were gone, I cleared the tracks in the back room and ran the MP E6's.  They have .3 miles so they were new.  Lubed them up good as they had never been lubed.  They smoke good too.  Never had smoke turned on.  Think they may have found a home [but where do you store those big things?].  Then ran the NS diesels and the Big Boy.  That was fun.

Grayson, I call them P-CANS too.  Not P-CONS.  Got a bunch to shell out.

Was supose to rain but haven't seen any.  Gooooood night all.

The current capacity for hard drives is truly amazing. I can remember my very first hard drive was only 20 MEGA Bytes.

Unless you need to transfer a lot of data between remote PCs, you might want to consider going with a permanently installed drive to avoid the accidental damage that often plagues external drives.

Another point to consider is the data transfer rate for different connectors. While most external drive enclosures use a USB or FireWire connection, some newer motherboards have external SATA connections, which will give you even faster transfer rates.

Hang in there!  You're doing great on the weight loss.  I've been trying to cut back on the 'bad cholesterol' stuff, but difficult when wife and daughter are eating salami and swiss sandwiches in front of you.  Salami is all the 3-yo will eat, next to chicken nuggets, and pizza.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is cold and windy. 30 degrees. A few snow flurries in the air. Going up to 39 today, with no heavy snow fall.

Today, we are driving up to the wife's doctor for her final check up. All looks good. Glad it's over with. Now, things can get back to normal.

No time for trains today. Need to do some dusting again.

Dining Car is here and time for breakfast. Later.

Y'all have a great Monday.

Well another long eventfull weekend for The Roar.  Friday I went to Pittsburgh to see my family and as a stopover for my trip to Columbus to pickup my snow blade for the John Deere.  Got in around 9:00 and hit the hay right away.  Up and at 'em at 6:15 and on the road at 6:45.  Dad decided to tag along and keep me company... we made it to the Cracker Barrell in Reynoldsburg by 9:20 and that included a stop at McDonalds for breakfast (if you can call it that)... got the blade and wheel chains and we were back on the road by 10:15 - stood in that frigid SnOhio wind and shot the breeze with the fella selling the blade, nice guy.

Then we got back to Pittsburgh and I loaded up Susan's car for the trip home.  Blade broke down real nice and it fit in the truck with almost no loss of space.  Picked up part of my Mom's Christmas gift at Cracker Barrell too. Thumbs Up [tup] Then before heading out, stopped by a friend's place to exchange some train related items (gave up a 2000 Lionel Christmas trainset, received Lionel SC-2 Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]), also dropped off the remainder of the FasTrack as he is going to redo his Christmas layout with that... then I'll get what he doesn't want when I go back in January.

On the way home Saturday night I get a call from Susan... frantic... yelling at me to get home... I told her to calm down as I couldn't understand her and she was upsetting me because she knew I was driving and at least 45 minutes from home... she calmed down and told me the one cat had chased a mouse into the bedroom. Shock [:O]Laugh [(-D] So when I got home I found the mouse, bopped it on the head, swept it onto a dust pan, put it in a bag, and deposited it in the trash can.  Then yesterday before heading out for the trainshow, she found another one (this time dead) under the dresser... dumped it in the trash can with the other mouse.  So we bought all these mouse deterants yesterday and probably didn't have to... Confused [%-)]

Trainshow... found my C&O Dockside Switcher! Thumbs Up [tup] Also picked up a K-Line C&O Pickup Truck (navy blue, seen the red ones all over the place but never saw a blue one), a blue Chevy pickup with wood stakes and rails, and two Weaver wooden crates for 40' flatcar loads... going to use them as templates to make my own! Thumbs Up [tup] Also found a 2006 Lionel Christmas Parade Aquarium car for $39.00 (had Susan get that for me for Christmas)... OH YEAH... ran into a certain forum member... good to see his head hasn't grown since being published! Laugh [(-D] Had a nice chat, and we had some Dinner [dinner] so all left happy!

Morning all.  Sun is peeping out after some early morning light rain.  Cool and breezy.  Busy morning for me.  Coffee and then clean kitchen.  Seems wife left that for me to do. Shock [:O]Sign - Oops [#oops]  Got Town "stuff" to do and then County Commissioners meeting.  This evening, Christmas tree lighting in the park across the street and then actual swearing in followed by Town Board meeting.  Later

Good morning all,

It is windy and cold in SE Indiana, and I think I am coming down with a cold as well.  I worked all weekend on the layout and got it up to the historical society Sunday afternoon.  Sunday night I oiled and greased all the equipment I am going to run, and I will take it up there tonight.  It has been a struggle, but I hope it will be worth it.  There may be someone up there with some American Flyer equipment as well.  We will have to see.  I will catch up on the posts later.  There were bran muffins on the dining car this morning.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana
