Chief

Don't have to feed deer around here, they help themselves. In the spring they'd chew on the freshly planted tomato plants & new growth on the trees in my front yard.
I've put plastic mesh screen over the young trees & plants now.

Here is a picture at dusk in my back yard.

Morning All

Sunny 34/40 Much colder by end of the week. The F3 motors I used on this project seem to run good. They are new but maybe 10 years old. I did find one of the power trucks does not have magnatraction so they do not run equal. I'm running out of "put together parts" like that so may have to buy one. Brutus and others with sick friends I will remember them as requested. It seems like each sunday at church brings new illness to the flock.

I hope this finds the forum folks well, Regards,  Sir james

Mornin' boys.  Partly cloudy and 55 here in the Mid-Atlantic region, which may already be our high of the day.  It was 63 last night at 2330 when I got home.  Weird weather.

laz - 1000 "fahget-a-bout-its"(Paulie Walnuts).  Glad you liked it.

Dougnottagrump - You are absolutely right on the absence of B & O blue units.  I have one GP9 (#6604) that didn't make the cut.  I would like to add some Atlas dummy units to my roster, but they carry a pretty hefty tag around here.  Plus, I want to keep my roster mainly to 1st & 2nd generation 4-axle diesels.  All the modern stuff in the mag is my boy's.  Only the Chessie GP30 is actuallly Dad's.  BTW, I custom painted the MTH CSX CW40-8 on page 70, so Chris was the first kid on his block to have a "DARK FUTURE" engine.  Thanks.

Brutus - glad she liked it.  Perhaps you can sell her on a little more real estate.Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 40s.  I completely messed up on the time for "Dancing with the Stars" and only saw Helio's last dance.  Nothing against Marie Osmond, but if she makes it to the final two, I will be highly disgruntled as she is nowhere near the talent level of Mel B. or Helio.  Last night was busy but did not accomplish anything and the only YMCA activity was a 30 minute walk.  Did get a chance to look at some of the latest Trains magazine.  It was just the regular fare on the dining car this morning.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cloudy 34 degrees. Going up to 44 today, with, maybe some sunshine, later this afternoon.

Today is a little busy. I have a few errands to run and help out around the house. Wife is slowly getting things back in order. Still has to wear the big shoe, when walking around the house. Otherwise, she is healing up fine. Maybe some train time later.

Dining car has arrived and it's ready for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Tuesday.

LAZ, I could kill my limit of does if I wanted.  I go feed the deer after dark, they are waiting at the path.  As I drive by, I give them [about 6 or 7 does] a special whistle and they jsut walk over to one side.  Go to the pond and put out corn.  Come back and they are standing in the path.  I get out whistleing the specail whistle and lock cable.  They walk over and into the bush.  Don't snort or run off like when I first started this.  I get out and put out 8 piles of corn in the middle of the path.  Whistling the call.  Get in the truck and before I can drive 20 feet they are in the path eating.  I can go to the top of the hill and trun around and shine light on them and they just eat.  I hope one day they will stand and let me put out corn with them right there.  I had deer where I use to work trained tocome each afternoon and watch me put out corn.  As soon as I got in the vehicle, they would come running and start eating.  I could sit in the vehicle [motor running or off] and they would walk right around me.  Look at me inside the vehicle with window rolled down.  If I got out, they would walk away real fast but not run.  Now that it is cold, I will walk every afternoon to the pond with bucket.  I hope to get them to come while I'm on foot.  They know that whistle means corn.  Will they ever get over the fear of me on foot.  We'll see.

Went by Wally World today and picked up some little ornaments to help decorate my Christmas freight cars. They are miniature clothesline spring clips with decorations attached. I think they will be able to serve two functions: #1 clip on to add decorations to sides of hoppers and gondolas, #2 with up-right clips use them to string some of the Lemax type battery powered Christmas lights. End of a long day.  Got another one tomorrow and then off till next Tuesday.  I have some packing to do as once we start filming the fire scene Wed., I will be very busy till I leave for Texas on Friday.

Jim, I too was worried with a lot of things needing prayer lately, some may think I was in line with mister Z.  But, as the good book says, pray for everything.  It does work.  We will keep your folks in our prayers too.

Went to Michaels tonight.  I got some lights that are partial goose-necks on poles that will be great for some yard/freight shed work on the layout.  For those whose layout is still in progress, go to Michaels and check out the accessories for the Lemax sets, I am sure you could find items that will look great.

God Bless,

Dennis

Fife - I was showing my wife your layout and she loved it - "Beautiful!"  And that is high praise sir!

88- Good luck!  Keep us posted.

Buckeye, good luck to your friend - I pray that the spot is nothing.

Good news - a friend of mine from work found a Wii for us, so will have that tomorrow or the next day and my son's Christmas will be saved.

Sad news - Please pray for my friend Fran Mueggenburg's husband Gary.  He had a stent put in last week just before Thanksgiving and had to go back yesterday due to blood clots.  Also please pray for Cathy Pugh to get over cancer.  Thanks so much.  Don't want to sound like the Z man, but these folks need some praying.

Had a great time running trains yesterday and definite plans for the Christmas layout.  Won a MTH WARR canon car on ebay from trainz.  Also "buy it now"d two Arrista figures of a fireman and engineer for the BFOC.  They are made of pewter and should help add weight to the locomotive.

Do you think it will be okay to put them on with those glue dots?  Will they harm the paint on the locomotive?

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

two hours!  I don't like old coffee, going to make fresh. We had some wet snow nothing stuck, but I spoke to my cousin who lives over Kurts way and they had snow on the streets. I have to trouble shoot the F3 chassis I put together as the motors are running way to stiff and hot. Motors and power trucks running seperate seem ok but together not like I want. I'll find the problem just need time.  Later,  Sir James

Good afternoon everyone,

All this talk about boot camp brings back some memories. I remember that my parents threatened me with Valley Forge Military Academy if I hadn't shaped up my act. And as soon as I heard that, everything turned around. Now, funny as it seems, I would glady enlist into the Marine Corps. Can you say "Scout-Sniper"? I would love to do it, but since I have a bad knee, it probably won't happen now, and also since the war is still going on. (Only high classified secret operations for me.)

Anyway, since that probably won't happen I have settled between two things to go to college for: business (own either a Ferrari dealership, or own a performance shop for Ferraris, Porsches, and Audi's : ie engine upgrades, exhaust upgrades, sport suspension, etc) or sports medicine (if this is what I do, I plan to move England after college and be a therapist for one of the soccer teams there.) Then I will move back stateside after a few years.

Well, it was a calm day at school. Not many people came, which wasn't a real suprise.

Have a good afternoon and evening everyone.

I have a 13 yr old boy too, Mike. I will send him along to keep Lucas company or at least tag along. They seem to be interested in the same things...

Just overheard the five-year-old - complete from watching "A Christmas Story" very appropriately use the expression "son of a bxxxx" he just learned from Ralphie. Sigh. Maybe the Chief can take the young ones too.

It's been seven hours on my day off and I still haven't been able to get down into the basement. It's nice to hear others have survived their children. Buckeye, sorry to hear about your friend. I'll  pray for his biopsy and spirits.

Doug, Roy, Fifedog, and Chief,

Can I get in on this kid exchange as well?  Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how the hormones rage), my child is a 17 year old boy.  I am not sure how that would mix with three teenage girls, but it might be more than even the Chief could handle (although I do like his approach to boot camp).  I have been thru the teenage daughter phase (twice!), and now the teenage son, and I do not think I will miss that stage of my life at all.  At least we have good people to commiserate with.

Keep on training,
