Greetings from a cold and sunny Chicago where it is barely 42 and I am looking forward to going to Orlando tomorrow for some conference.

Unfortunately, I don't get sick time to amass but can only roll over 70 vacation hours into the new year. Looks like I'll be doing a bit of what Jim suggests, enjoying the rest of the year by taking every Th and Fri off from Thanksgiving on or maybe I'll do Fri and Monday since I already work home on Th. Of course, I'll have to keep eyeballing email so as to not be buried - ah well.

Just finished a nice little book on the history of Bristol Road Shed during the days of steam. I'm continuing to enjoy trying to decipher the differences in rail language and practices between the US and England.

Kurt, hang in there with the baby. Each time, I was very aware it would be one of the last times I'd be getting up / pacing, etc. with our now-5-year old. I appreciated it!

Thanks for the support GIZ!

I have a hunch...looking at what's comming out the other end (I apologize for the crudity).

We are switching to formula, a little at a time, and out first needed the pre-digested formula...So I think this one is experiencing the same problems with the powder formula.

Youngest asleep!  Today is better than yesterday.  I think our company really took it's toll on the family.  Things are getting back to normal.

Chief:  You have a new Sawmill w/ sound right?  Are you happy with it?  I'm thinking of putting this on the Christmas list, but would like a review.

Old saw mill and can not remember if it has sound or not.  Haven't run wires to back room yet.  All I know is it worked great when I stored it in 85.

Back from my lunchtime walk and it is pouring out there today. But the air is nice so I walked laps around the parking garage.  Tomorrow is supposed to be clear and cooler.

Almost time to dig the Polar Express coaches out.

Not a heck of a lot else to talk about. Quiet day here in New England.

I'll bet the kids will appreciate some McD's for dinner tonight.

Temps in the 50's, strong winds here today, but sunny.  Haven't been able to keep up lately, hope all is well with everyone.  Hope you guys have been behaving.

Been busy looking after my husband's uncle.  He passed away Monday at 12:45pm.  I was with him.  Thankfully he had slipped into a deep coma and went peacefully.  The last couple of weeks had been rather painful for him.  Have a lot to do around home to catch up.

Well, it's election day so guess the Chief is out campaigning for those last few undecided votersWink [;)] and it will be official by this time tomorrow.  Best wishes CHIEF!!

Hope RT is getting his "leads" replaced and is doing OK.

Lots to do!

Later,

Lisa

Lisa so sorry to hear of your husbands passing but maybe its for the best now he's in peace. I goto the doctor thursday to find out whats what with all thats been going on with me. I told wife if I can't get back in touch on my own (ie I'm in hospital or somethin )to call chief and let him know to let everyone know  but expect I will be on thursday evening and telling you all whats what that I know.

I was off today trying to see if I could get medicaid help pay the doctors (as I don't have insurance yet because new job and couldn't keep mine from last job as it wouldn't pay here in tn. ) visit but was told don't count on it they normally don't help adults. So I'am being stuck with a bill for something that should be paid by them that supplied the unit and leads.

Any way guess life still goes on and I still feel I always gettting $&!# on again lol.

Schilling re-signed with Boston. One year deal at $8M + incentives.

I'll pitch for 1/2 that.

More than I thought he'd get, Jim. I'm glad, he seems to be an 'icon' - though not quite like your buddy Yaz - for the Sox.  Off to walk.

Reminds me of when Jackie Robinson was traded from the Dodgers to the Giants. In reverse. Jackie was so disgusted at the thought of it, he retired. Mattingly didn't get the job in NY so he took his ball and left.

We took the kids to see The Bee Movie Saturday afternoon. It wasn't bad. I just saw the ad for it on tv, and it reminded me. The kids loved it.

I went to McD's on the way home. They were unable to take a credit card, so I went next door to Wendy's. The food is better there anyway, so I didn't mind at all.

Helloooooo,

Lisa- sorry about your family loss, now take care of yourself, and of course whats his name.

Nasty day here,41,winds 25/35 all day, showers but no snow here. I did see some on the local news though. My train friend stopped by for a little while. He is going to paint a dual motor F3 frame in NYC gray for me and I am going to install a lionel horn in his MPC B & M. We seem to have something going on most of the time.

Brutus- better grab some banilla tonite as the grandsons are eating it faster than I can stock up.     I'll drop back later,,,Sir James

ITS OFFICIALLY OFFICIAL.  I WON THE MAYORSHIP.  Big surprise in one of the Commissioners' race.  Lady [sort of new] beat the guy that was Chair of the Planning Board.  Bad part is Rolesville is now split into two voting places.  The voting officials sent a lot of folks to the new polling place.  They did not go, but went home.  Only a little over 11 votes cast in that place.  SO, one subdivision mainly put her in office.

Sounds like Shennanigans, Chief!  Demand a recount!  For her, of course!  Wink [;)]  Anyway, Congrats!

RT - God bless and keep us posted.

Lisa, sorry for your family loss and hope things will even out for you now!  Sure glad you could help out and I'm sure it was appreciated!

Banilla - Man, I'm all over that!  I'll be over in just a little bit, Sir James.  Can't stay late, though as I have to work tomorrow.  Should have taken off, seeing it's my birthday, but gonna take a long lunch and enjoy a steak and a beer with a good buddy and that makes it worthwhile.  Already got my present (to me) of the Hogwarts Express anyway!

Maybe CSXT30 will post on my birthday?! (HINT)

Brent - thanks for sharing the pics, you do good work man!

Kurt, I've got the Lionel sawmill that makes sound, but not the one with the spnning blade and flashing lights - it sounds like a sawmill sort of, in a toy-ish way.

Evening Folks,

Just dropping by to check in.  Voted early this AM, no time to post. Late meeting with parents for new school.  Got another late one Thursday night.  Mrs. went to memorial service for a friend of our family who passed away last week.  She will spend the night with my Mom and Dad.  I could not go due to previously scheduled meeting.  A group of parents is appealing the boundary line decision and it would have created a real mess if I had postponed to go to this memorial service.

Mom went to heart surgeon last week, he cleared her to do whatever she wanted.  Even drive if she felt up to it.  Today she and Dad walked a mile at the Mall.  She has been pretty diligent about keeping up with walking, increasing her pace and distance.

Lisa - sorry for your family's loss.

Hail to the Chief - do we have to play the music everytime he walks in the room now??? Congrats on the victory.

RT  - hope you get some help with the medical expenses.  You are right that the company that supplied the defective leads should be responsible for the $$.

Fife - how are you doing?  Any leftover neck problems from the accident?

Brent  - glad the bathroom project seems to be back on track.

Brutus/Jim - Happy B-Day [bday] - Any more word on a Baltimore trip?

Weather here has been much colder and plenty windy.  Snowing in western Maryland according to some reports.  Someone mentioned a snow shower or two for our area Friday.  Will have to check Weather.com

Very early meeting tomorrow AM.  Must be out the door by 6:00 so I better get ready for bed. I'll check in tomorrow night.

Mitch

Thanks Mitch!  Baltimore is on hold for now.  I told them I can't travel for 2 plus months a year, a month at a time.  It's just too much for me.  I am up for local training and might go to Baltimore for a week for pre-training, or it might be St. Pete.  We'll see if and when and I'll be sure to hook up with you if I can.  Interestingly, my sister is in Baltimore for the rest of the week!

Lisa - Sorry to hear of your familys loss.  Glad it was so peacfull.  May we all be so fortunate.

RT - Best wishes on your Dr's visit, hopefully good news headed your way!

Fife - No, nothing could be further from the truth.  I've been absolutely angelic. Angel [angel]  I do have to admit, that everyone wasn't real estatic about the train room expansion project.  (Ref. link...my previous post mid way down page..)

http://www.trains.com/trccs/forums/600/991901/ShowPost.aspx#991901

However, as a result of some negotiations, I do have a NEW train room.  Some of you may recall I had originally planned on a room over the garage.  Well guess what???  I now have it......

The new train room.........

It's not really too bad!!  Given that I no longer have the El Camino, I was able to relocate the majority of my layout to my van.

So as you can see, I've been very busy.  Will post more soon, negotiations are continuing......

Congratulations, Mayor McChief! Behold the Roseyville Mayor's Office/Executive Mansion (it's in the new subdivision).

Notice that it's on the good side of the tracks.

Brutus - Happy B-Day [bday] Here's to 100 more!

Lisa, sorry to hear of your family's loss. Better days are ahead.

The kids and I had a fun time last night in the "old clubhouse" as they call it. We played air hockey and I dutifully lost to each one. We also ran trains for a while. The new scale SF F3 pulled a long passenger train on the outer loop, and the NYC RS3 pulled coal filled hoppers on the inner loop.

"Extra Pounds May Carry Certain Health Benefits." Headline on Front Page of today's Washington Post Newspaper.

Article states new findings by federal researchers released yesterday that being overweight protects against a host of causes of death. The counterintuitive findings are based on a detailed analysis of decades of gov't data that studied a massive # of Americans: 39,000, supporting conclusions 2 years ago.

Overweight can still lead to kidney and diabetes but not many other diseases like cancer and heart disease and the benefits of being overweight outweigh those. 2/3 of Americans are overweight. Note the study is not about obese, but overweight. Obese is still very bad. The extra fat (or bigger bones and more muscle) is said to be a reserve to help fight illness and aid recovery.

I guess that is the last word. Case closed.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a sunny, but cold, 34 degrees. Going up to 43, with maybe some rain later.

Today, is the day, that I drive up to Cambridge, for groceries. This is getting to be an expensive trip. Gas is now at $3.09 a gallon. And I hear it will get higher. This reflects on all items at the store. A lot of stores are going out of business, in Cambridge. There are signs all over the town of places " For rent". The rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

No time for trains today. Ran them about an hour yesterday, again.

Brutus....Happy B-Day [bday]Happy B-Day [bday]Happy B-Day [bday]

Dining Car has arrived. Cupcakes all gone. Breakfast of Cheerios.

Y'all have a great Wednesday.
