Good morning from a sunny and soon-to-get-much-colder Chicago where I hope it is a quiet day here at work. Unlike last evening when I enjoyed an early "A Christmas Story" moment. After serving out dinner and discovering whatever the pan was coated with had melted off into the meal - lovely - I got to say 'Get up, get your coats, we are going Out to eat' - and take everyone out for Chinese.
Later I started cutting up an oversize K-Line caboose to make a sort of brake-van for James the Red Engine. Jim A, gas has gone up .30 cents here in a week. Now $3.10 a galloon. Just in time for Christmas. Agree about the Simpsons. That sure was a great football game though.Jim F, great trolley shots!
Roy, sorry we'll miss getting together this week - enjoy Schaumburg.

MORNING ALL,
Cold and damp showers forecast. Reg gas $3.15-$3.19 yesterday between here and the train show. Kurt I'm glad you made it, now we can say I know somebody on the forum. Also noticed you joined the other one. I go there also but be careful as if you say something is blue six others will say its purple, green, ect.you get the idea. Ask one question you'll get ten opposing answers. just sort through and ignore the rest. My train buddy bought some stuff he wants modified so I have a project to work on.
I could not get on here this AM either, just had to wait it out....Sir James

Hello all
Gas around here is running $3.19 and diesel $3.49 a gallon!! Had a busy weekend as I was in Columbus doing a Marriage Encounter retreat this past weekend and was without internet so spent some time this morning catching up on the pot.
Laz and Chief- Those Big Boys are something! It is pretty awesome to see that engine articulate around those curves.
Cool here this morning and predicting rain later this afternoon. I hope to lay block for the garage addition Tuesday weather permitting, so to let it cure before setting walls. Need to do like Laz and get the garden put to bed. It looks pretty nasty right now. I am going to cut all the head off the zinnias for seed for next year.
Check back later
May God bless
Jim
I spent most of my lunch hour trying to get the spray foam off of my sweatshirt with acetone. I wish I had gone for a walk, as it's a beautiful day out there. Rain tomorrow.
I had a couple of pieces of chocholate after my turkey sandwich and am now fighting to stay awake with a headache. I think I'm crashing from all the sugar. My eyes are about ready to roll back in my head. Auto pilot all the way home today! Well, almost all the way home. I need to stop at the post office and mail my paperwork for the free furniture.
Modeling the Baltimore waterfront in HO scale
Since I'm off the hook for all that furniture, I wonder if I should resume my search for a set of NYC 2344s...
In 3,2,1...
Weather update here in Columbus(South end) It is cold windy and raining
Hope it will blow over before time to get weighed at the Central Ohio Nutrition center

Kurt
Had a nice few days off.....Hey Mel, great to meet you. Hope to see you again soon!!!
Doug I can relate. Had to "burn" 4 days before my employment anniversary on the 10th, hence the back to back 3 day work weeks.
I'll start on the train to work layout Thursday.
BULLETIN!!! AUTUMN FINALLY HITS NORTH EAST FLORIDA!!!!!! Geez, it finally feels like September in NJ.
Gas is up to $2.90...you can thank the oil speculators for this price boom folks. There is no supply/demand problem

Why didn't I think of this earlier???

Kurt - I feel your pain with the crying, hope the trains continue to help!
Had 2 fire drills at work today, once while we were getting some training from a very nice neurologist on traumatic brain injuries. It was really interesting! He's been a specialist for nearly 60 years, to give you an idea of the level of expertise here, and felt really sorry for him when we all had to clamber down 4 flights of stairs!
No trains again today. Maybe tomorrow? TTFN!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Good evening all,
IIABSDISEI with temps in the 60s and windy. Temps are supposed to crash overnight. Had biscuits and bacon on the dining car this morning. I will have to catch up on the posts later. Spent Saturday "Wandering Indiana" as we took state roads over to Terre Haute and back. It was a nice day. Spent Sunday working on train boards for the display at the local historical society in December. Since I have Tuesday off for elections, I made it a four day weekend by spending Monday at home, doing housework and taking care of various items. Won some more bricks and a MTH Tinplate 500 series gondola on eBay. I will catch up on the news later. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana

She crawls around looking for you to make what's hurting her better, crying her head off, and I just don't know what to do for her...I love my daughters immensley, and try to give them everything they need, (need not want) and it's really frustrating as a parent to not know what to do. This doesn't happen often.
I'm thankful I don't have a collicky baby. Collicky babies have digestion problems, and cry for long periods after they eat, and quite often during the day.
I was falling asleep watching Superman, and Batman cartoons with the oldest (her choice) at 8:00pm. Bride came home about 8:00, and gave me the night off! I went right to bed, woke up once to feed the 9-mo (3:00am), and I just woke up for the day now! OK germ bags bring it! Daddy got sleep! (I was up for the day Sunday at 2:00am)
Hope you all are getting some sleep!
Kurt,
Been there, done that, bought the t-shirts! I have twin boys who were collicky babies. Not an experience I'd ever want to endure again.
Well, holiday layout season is almost upon us. I really liked njal1's track configuration in his HE thread. I'm going to try and replicate that, but with tuh - tuh - tuh - tubular track.
The kids all have colds. They all wanted me to wrestle on the floor with them in a 3 vs 1, but I declined. Then I felt bad. But I don't need no stinking cold. Little germ bags!
I'm still thinking about how easy that airbrush was to use.
Doug,
I use a lot of my sick time during bad weather. I see no good reason in trying to drive 70+ miles round trip in deep snow or ice. Take a vacation day and go hobby store hopping! Then treat yourself to a wonderful lunch. Take another one and get your Chistmas shopping done. Life is short, so enjoy it while you can!!!
Forgot to mention - the forum was down again this morning.
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a cold and sunny 32 degrees. Only going up to 50 today, with a chance of rain, later.
Today is a busy day. Have some errands to run and some paperwork to do later. Not much time for trains. Maybe I will make some time later.
Forum has been OK, here. So far, anyway.
Buckeye...Good luck, today.
Dining car has arrived and it's time for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Tuesday.
Chuck

Morning all. Wife stayed home today [can't sleep as she is making noise]. Selling her car at lunch to some nice guy. Then she will escort her boss [Gail, our friend who moved back to NC from DC] to look at Toyatos. Going to go vote this AM [to make Mayorship official]. Got to harvest all my tomatoes [ripe and green] and peppers. Finally going to frost and freeze tonight. Later

Perhaps this is done so that some forumites will get up and bathe
Mornin' boys. Raining & 50 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Ravens must of dragged this miserable weather away from Pittsburgh with their sorry butts.

Since you posted after me, you most likely aren't affected. The entire Trains.com site is unavailable until ~ 7am (EST). Maybe that's when maintenance or something is going on? They should consider doing it earlier, like 3am!
Good Morning All from NE Ohio
where Snow is in the forcast and the temp is 37 deg.
Chief - good thing that you retired so you can do all these new jobs.
Heading into a new direction!
all be safe!

Guess what grits rhymes with.
MORNING ALL
Cold 34 this am with rain and s%#* mixed, not expected to stick. Kurt, it's no fun being old but I think it's better than the baby thing. Did that already and you have my sympathy. But I have the quiet.
I don't have any outdoor plans so I guess train time today. Later,,,,,,,Sir James
Good morning. A quick stop before the case gets going. Chief's right about Grits. Another note for all the new fathers (or, soon to be). One method of getting kids to sleep is methodical noise.....like letting a train run the rails of a loop. Other methods are running the vacuum, but I go for the trains!
Hope everyone is doing well. Had a good night of filming and a busy week ahead. I will check in soon.
God Bless,
Dennis
