Hi all,

FIL and I have been working on the Gamesroom today. We now have drywall on the ceiling and are 3/4 the way round the walls. We ran out of drywall adhesive for the walls. The adhesive gets everywhere...and I mean everywhere except where you want itSmile [:)].

Fife, Did not notice any premium on snacks in Amsterdam. But then again I only spent about 2 hours ashore. And was pretty stuffed from all the pancakes and waffles I had at breakfast, not to mention the headache from the party the night before. My excuse is that NCL had real US made Bud not the stuff brewed under licence over hereSmile,Wink, & Grin [swg].

That's funny you guys prefer US Brewed BUD and I prefer REAL German Hefeweizen, REAL BASS Ale, or Guiness to the incredibly inferrior knock-offs we get stateside... is it a requirement to remove the authentic taste of beers when they are sold overseas? Confused [%-)]

I think it is a grand conspiracy to keep us from enjoying brews from other parts of the World, the national breweries are afraid of competition!

I'll send you a case if you send me a case!  LOL!

Afternoon all,

I'm off today and glad to have a break.  Many goals and milestones are due and we're making them but it is exhausting!

I had 8 tons of crushed limestone delivered this morning and just finished spreading it by hand.  Bride helped and we got the area within 1/2" level over the 20 x 30 footprint for the garage addition.  Nice and cool so it was nice work.  Going to start the forms and renting a compactor in the morning.  With a little luck by this time next week the pad will be poured.

Sounds like most are on the mend now, thanks to God for answered prayers.

The cool weather is nice.  Have the doors and windows open.  I love fall.  Don't want to think about heating season.  We keep our house on the cool side.  Programmable tstat 58 at night 64 when occupied, and we dress warmly.  We have an old/new house.  Originally build in 1890's we have completly gutted and re did everything to the framing and added on a two story addition.  Old side has 3 1/2 fiberglass insulation with 1/2 foamboard on top of the studs under the sheetrock, new side 6" walls and insulation and the whole thing is wrapped in 1/2 osb then siding.  Makes for a strong tight house.

Laz-nice fish the other day

STURGEON PHISH,

Good job moving that tonage o rock.  Beers will taste great tonite.  I'm sure the bed will feel good too.  Remember with that concrete to pace yourself, I was a concrete finisher for 5 years.  My knees still hurt.

Just checking in again.

Granddaughters were here for a short visit, no time to run trains as they were on the way to visit great grandfather.  Worked on dollhouse for a couple of hours.  Soon time to get ready for high school football game, so far undefeated.  Away game about an hour away so have to leave pretty early, no reserved seats at the away games.  Predicted to be in the lower 40's and windy so it should be good football weather, except for the wind.

Take care,

Jefelectric,

Would love to have your weather down here in south Florida but I have to settle for 78 degree mornings and 88 degree afternoons.

I am working for Avis Rental Car Company at the PalM beach FL airport.

Still NO word from Concast(Comcast Cable) criminals!

Got the rest of my K-Line Super Street curves today at Jupiter FL hobby shop, now to install the final leg of my upper level layout!  I have the 12 inch curves and so far only the Plymouth Switcher set by K-Line can make it threw the curves. Wanted to put the K-Line Coka Cola Bears handcar set on it.

Philly Baby! Have you thought about some other cable service? Up here we have a choice between Comcast and Verizon. Both companies offer phone, cable and internet, or any combination thereof.

Hey, I did my no holds barred stop raining dance for you, buddy boy. You owe me some post war merchandise! Got any GG1s?

Or shall I make it rain again?

Hello folks!  No new train stuff today.  Found out today I was put up for national training, so might have to travel in a few weeks and then maybe next month and then ???  I suspect I'll be in Baltimore for about 7 to 9 days?  I'm sure week days will be busy, but not sure about the weekend?

Evening all. Got just done running trains. Williams 2023 Alcos pulling a set of post war 2400 cars on the inner loop. Post war 2055 on the outer loop. All ran smooth. The 2055 smoked nicely. Now the kids are watching a movie.

Big weekend ahead. Looking forward to seeing family tomorrow. Sunday - who knows.

Hi everyone!

Keeping busy.  The whole family is at one stage or another of the "Crud".  My bride mentioned that our son's closet has another layer of trainsWhistling [:-^] and how it is a good thing I am on "restriction".  Got a few more goodies.  I will have to take pictures one of these days.

Anyway, busy weekend.  Did a field trip with my son, then we have a "Boot Camp" for the movie with all the crew, production staff, etc.  Then, we have the hospital's picnic which is always a grand affair.  Sunday, we have the church services, but also some more work with the planning as shooting starts Monday.  And, once Monday comes, looks like I will be on the run for a few months.

Sorry that I have not been able to keep up with the posts.  Will keep prayers for all needs.  Take care and hope everyone has a blessed week ahead.

Hi Jim, Yes the drywall is being glued to the block walls. Known as "dot and dab" over here. We are however bringing in a professional plasterer to finish skim the walls and celing.

The ceiling was easy to drywall as its screwed into place and we hired a special drywall lift to raise the sheets into place.

I managed to liberate some US Foldgers coffee on last weekends trip, so I'll top up the pot.

Taking Charlie and his pal to Laserforce this afternoon.

Have a good Saturday folks

Morning!

Brutus:  National training???  What are you doing?

Nick12DMC:  Bud Beer and Foldgers Coffee...MMMMMmmmmmm.  My favorites.  I get into trouble when I come back home with the Bud for company...Bride doesn't drink the beer mind you, but expects to serve 'good' beer.  There's nothing like a fresh ground cup of french roast with the Creme Brulee.

Perusing the 'What was your first trains set' thread....There are a lot of new faces (under 50 posts).  Looks like things are about to heat up.  I noticing prices starting to rise too!

Today's the day!  Starting benchwork for the Christmas layout!  Bride and girls going out for breakfast.  Hopefully photos for Sunday Photo fun.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cold 34 degrees with fog. Looks like the sun is trying to come out. Going up to a sunny 68 degrees.

Today, I am working around the house. I have a few projects to finish up. Then, I will spend a couple of hours working on the layout. I have all the materials to finish up a couple of scenery areas. And I will run the trains, as I am doing this.

Indians lost big time last night to Boston. It was not a good showing for our pitcher. Maybe we will do better today.

Nascar race tonite from Charlotte.

Dining car has rolled in and it's time for breakfast. Later.

Y'all have a great Saturday.

Good morning from New England. The sky is clear and the air is cool. Autumn is here in all its glory.

I watched an Eddie Murphy movie last night - Norbit. The previews made it look like a family comedy. Uh-uh. The language was blueish.

Looking forward to tonight's family get together. Have some chores to keep me busy until then. Also want to clean up the train room. Wooden trains all over the floor.

I'd write more but I'm not even sure I'm awake.

HI GIZ,

43 and nice here today.  Wife and I had a nice fire last nite and ate some burgers and drank a few beers.  Great way to end the week.  Came in and ran trains for an hour while watching DA TRIBE loose, DA!  Anyway NO PILE UPS all ran good.  I got my WEAVER L1b back from repairs, they put in a  new radio board and replaced the chuff switch, ran good.  Only took a week, it helps when the WEAVER Plant is only 30 miles up the road.

Going to close down the pond today.

  GO TRIBE!

Good morning from a grey and cool Crystal Lake where I have a long to-do list - which I kinda like - maybe take the youngest to find a local farm to pick out a few pumpkins. Hey, better yet, maybe one of the train museums is running a Halloween train.

Bride re-did the master bedroom this week with her girlfriend while I was at work. I have to hang a few things, swap out a head-board and then pay for it all.Wink [;)] She apparently has Sunday plans which may impact my going to the train show (I want my Thomas!). I hope not but we haven't caught up yet.

Went out for pizza last night whilst the older kids went to the big game - the home team got walloped, something like 50-0. The daughter had the gall to call me at 1130 to see if she could stay past curfew (which is a state law)... "Help me to understand - you're waking me up to see if it's OK for you to knowingly break the law." Sheesh. Good excuse for a nap later.  Banged Head [banghead]    Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Our pastor is announcing he's leaving for another church. It should be interesting to see how this is handled.

Good morning,

Late riser today.  The boys came through last night, but it was a nail biter. Behind 7-6 in the first quarter & only led 14-7 at the end of 3 quarters.  Finally got their act together and won 41-14.  The last touchdown by the other team was a gift from the 2nd string defense.  Now 7-0.

Working on dollhouse project today.

Lee F., How about some pictures of the superstreet project.  BTW I dropped Comcast a while back and switched to DSL from Embarq.  Comcast would be unavailable for periods of time and when you called they would deny it.  Embarq DSL is a tad slower, but always there.  Since I don't download things like music and videos it is no problem with the slightly slower speed.  Also saving almost half the cost.

Chief, You are way ahead of me, haven't done anything to the greenhouse yet.  It will have to wait till after York week now.  This recent HOT weather we have had has me all fouled up with fall work.

Brutus, Don't forget that Strasburg is not a bad drive from the Baltimore area.  Lots of train stuff to see and do.  Let me know if you want to try it, maybe we could meet up.

Nick, If you glue drywall to the block, what do you do for insulation?

Laz, You are right about Weaver service, it is hard to beat, and they do it with a one man service department.  BTW I got my SPRING 2008 WEAVER CATALOG in the mail yesterday.  Some nice stuff, not a lot new.  They have brought back the aluminum streamlined passenger cars which are VERY nice, but you need at least 056 and they recommend 072 as they are scale length.  There are 8 road names and a five car set lists for $599!  Nice Set with a C-1 Switcher with TMCC and 5 cars for $719.  You can always do better than list on Weaver.

Doug M., You make me happy that my teenagers are now parents, revenge is good! Big Smile [:D]

Well I think this has been long winded enough for now,

Take care,

Bride has a few (10) Christmas in the City buildings...That's the center, and I am planning to do a 48" pike with a 4% grade on the outside and out and around the tree and back.  The inner loop will be 36" (fastrack) that will run on ehthe lower level only, with a tunnel in half...I'll see if I can complete some sketches for tomorrow.  Benchwork today...I'm bad at math in my head.  I sure miss AutoCAD.  I am trying to run the outer benchwork on a curve to match the track.
