I blame the moon-tides!
Brent - wow man! You really tore that room up! Good job! Hey, is that a Bammer or do you have a compressed air nailgun? I've got the old compressor type. Wondered how those "cordless" ones work out?!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Brent, thanks for the photos. You do a mean Foghorn Leghorn.
Kurt, where do you think I got them?
The bedroom painting project is finished. Finally. Two different shades of baby turd brownish yellow. Wifey picked it out. If she's happy, I'm happy.
Plenty more work to get done, so with that, I'm off.

Good Morning ALL, Happy Columbus Day, especially to the ones with the day OFF !
Put together a pretty good post last night, but had a couple of problems. Feel asleep at the keyboard, woke up at 2 am, with a stiff neck. Tried to post it and go to bed, but the server was down. So OK I saved it but did the copy part, and feel asleep again trying to do the save part. Pretty Bad!!
So start all over........
Didn't get any video done, but spent the entire day working on the Engine Yard area putting track down. That all went pretty well. I think I'm going to have to move a couple of spurs just a triffle for better clearance. Also I got a good deal on a Heljan Engine shed about a year and half ago. So I got 2 of them not knowing where I would put them. They are about 28" long and I really need 32", so going to see about extending it with the second kit, then have a shorter one somewhere else. Should work.
Anyway track cutting, laying went pretty well. Took time out for dinner, (Lasagna, tired of pot pies), then cleaned up room a bit.
Wife getting a little frustrated with parents, she's been ready to start home for a week, don't think they will be leaving Dulth till Wed or Thur, probably another 2 weeks, before she's home. Told here to check out train stuff and take pictures.
Hopefully Monday night get some work done on the Classification Yard. Need to get wiring done on switches sure would make it easier than running around ducking under bridges throwing them manually.

Doug - Hope the vandalism stops! What happened to old fashioned toilet papering?
Mike C - Sorry to hear about your FIL, Prayers and Best Wishes for your wife and family!
Chief - Have you decided what your going to spend that prize on? You can just send it out here, I will invest it for you. That way you wouldn't have any unnecessary stress.
Brutus - It's all those "mischevious things" that we do, is why they like us so much! BTW those 4 windows look pretty good here, they are definetly brown on my screen. The extra caulking is just going to make them that much more waterproof.
Brent - Your working way to hard! Slow Down!! I feel I've done good if I get a couple of light bulbs replaced or trash can liners put in. What do you have for breakfast?
Buckeye - You guys would have better response if that "Golden Lionel Hudson" wasn't one of those Licensed Lionel key rings. Dennis, I would be very suspcious of their offer, seems strangly subversive.
Mel - That coal tipple is really awesome! Must be a real crowd pleaser. The space requirement must have happered the sales when it was introduced. I have never seen one. Kinda looks like a MRI vault, wonder if you could put a couple of heat coils on it and make popcorn?
Jimtrumpie - Is that a new avatar? Your younger than I imagined.
Sir James - Did they ever "loose" a car on those tipples? Seems such a bazaar way to empty them!
Dennis - Sure sounds like your making major progress on the new movie. I'm sure the majority of the friction is a result of just goofing around, kidding someone, and it is misunderstood.
Kurt - Sounds like a interesting 2 day trip, found one closed train store! These are the type of trips memories are made of, at least everyone arrived home safe!
Roy - Are you sure you don't need another assistant at York? Lets see I could, strip wires, crimp terminals, check for shorts (circuits), and certainly run trains. Say Hi to George, and the Mikado he recommended is really great, probably my favorite!!
Then there is Chuck, and what is he doing today? Playing mind games with the dog. Tricking him to go for a ride, only to end up at the vet. Nascar race was OK, but it is just to sanitized today. Wont be long and in order to cut costs I think they could eliminate the tracks, and just have everyone set at a video machine. Needs to be more flexibility with the cars!
Jumijo - Now think about that a bit, Tazmania could be a bit unreasonable. Look how far you would have to go to the LHS, you certainly would have to be there as a chaperone, anyway isn't the new TV intended for the whole family? At least they arn't drawing pictures on the screen.
Brent - You need to be careful with that Chisel ! Don't hit it too hard, could result in a long lasting memory! BTW, when you getting your contractors license?
Have a great day ALL, some of us have to work, UGH !!
Don
Don,
I never had an avatar before, so I figured I'd scan a recent photo in. After I talked with Keith last night, I figured that since we are going to meet at the show in Pittsburgh next month, it might make things easier if Keith knew who to look for. Also, MartyE goes to the same LHS that I occasionally visit, and I think I may have seen him there before, but I didn't introduce myself because I thought he would not recognize me. I'll be back later.

She called here for a sample to match colors... I'm suprised you didn't open the package thinking it was another train! That would have been quite a suprise!
Doug: You got your wish-Cubs didn't win ... in spades... Boy did they blow that one!
mickey4479: Sorry about Purdue...That was supposed to be a good game. We kept switching between that and the Cubs blowout.
Kurt
BTW Jim,
Good choice for the Avatar, never know who is reading these posts, you could end up as a celebrity!!

What a weekend! Went to Deland for the train show, many good bargoons, yet I didn't partake. MANY MANY American Flyer pieces there (thought of you Jim S). There was a PRR CamelBack MTH with Loco sounds at $179 and he was going to lower the price...! Just wasn't in the budget. Someone picked up a T1 matching 4 car passenger set (Lionel) for $85!!! I was 5 minutes too late for that one. Past it and came back...gonski! On the way home, followed the CSX tracks (along US 17) and raced an Amtrack #159 @ 85mph for about 5 miles...pretty cool, sorry, no pictures though(flying solo on this trip!)
Worked on the layout yesterday, moving & rewiring things up and out of the way. Watched the NASCAR race, shut it off when I saw the Chevy twins pushing past the Mopars. Kurt Busch looing strong now in the top 7!!
No rain today...drying out finally! Yup, I am working on the Italian Holiday!!

Good afternoon,
Still busy working on reunion project, hope to finish today. Saturday had to replace the sump pump along with some of the piping, lots of fun.
Brent, Nice self photo in the mirror.
Is anyone planning to take in the CTA openhouse on Wednesday before York?
Take care,
Hi John,
I'll be there with my grandaughter and wife for her first time

Afternoon. Had to go to the bank [you know why $$$$$] for a deposit. Had to meet with Town Staff for a little, well another screw up. No wonder we have been having problems getting things across to others. Been on phone trying to straighten out the mess. No trip to Lowes as planned to get board for divider on layout. Now a meeting with Schools this afternoon. Day shot.
Later
BTW: nice everyone celebrates my day [some will know what that means].

OK, Lets try to connect. I will be wearing my York badge as an ID to make it easier. I suspect you are the guy on the lower right in the second picture, as I know the two guys in the first one.
cnw1995 wrote:Just noticed the banner ad on the forum for an auction in Roseville, Illinois. Who knew there was another similarly-named burg in North Carolina?John, the only CTA I know is Chicago Transit Authority. I'd love to go to an open house there. I'll bet it's a TCA open house - aren't they also based in York?
I can't believe I did that, yes I meant TCA. No they are not in York, they are located in Stasburg, PA along woth the Strasburg RR and the PA Railroad Museum. About 30 miles from the York Show at the York Expo Center. We used to call it the York Fair Grounds. They always have an open house for members only the Wednesday before York. Usually have the main guys there from most of the manufacturers to give a little talk and let us know what is happening.
For anyone that doesn't know the two guys in njal's first photo are Mike Wolf Pres. of MTH & Jerry Calabrese Pres. of Lionel. I don't know the little one in the center.

lionroar88 wrote: njal wrote: Hi John, I'll be there with my grandaughter and wife for her first time njal - I'll be there, as will Laz, Roy, Fife, Mitch, and a few others (you already know about John). I'll be there before the gates open, if you want to meet up we could do so in front of the silver hall, or whereever else, just name a time and location! I'm going to the 11am Atlas 'Behind the curtain' or whatever they are calling it, and John is going at 1pm. We (the CTT board members) are meeting by the CTT Booth at 2:30 for our photo-op. I'll be bringing my camera and tripod so we should be able to get some decent photos this time!OFF to run errands!
Brent, My question was about the TCA openhouse, not the York Show itself.
BTW, Laz told me he was going to start a separate thread about York, but I have not seen it yet, unless I missed it. How about it Laz???

Thanks for the link,
I sent them an email. As often as I am in Columbus it would not be out of the question to join perhaps, if they would have me.

Summers back. TWO ITEMs

#2 there is also a Roseville Mi. not far from here.
Good afternoon all,
IIABSDISEI with temps in the 80s. The heat is supposed to go away this week and cool down some, and we might get some rain. It has been a quiet day as I finished the housework and got a haircut. I have been reading all the posts, but I can't remember enough to comment on it. I did watch my soap operas as well. I may go out to the YMCA later and will probably watch Helio on "Dancing with the Stars". It was just the normal fare on the dining car this morning. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Chilly and raw here this afternoon. I spread grass seed and fertilizer while Julia sat at the end of the driveway trying to sell her homemade jewelery. I eventually joined her and read old Model Railroaders while she kept shop. Finally I got too cold and closed down Diamond Julia for the day.
We ran trains before that. The Santa Fe 2343s and a set of Williams 2023s pulling passenger cars.
Got my photos back from Walgreens from the Ybor City FL(near Tampa FL)trip and I may post them at photobucket.com in a day or two.
Also tried to get Comcast cable last week and am very near lawsuit time for failure to deliver as promised. I was told friday the fifth of October in the afternoon, nobody showed up so I called and was told it would take another 15 working days to get cable installed, I nearly went ballistic on the person, anyone who knows me knows I don't lose my temper that easy but Comcast has really made me upset!!! Called the salesman back today and he didn't know that Comcast did me like that. To me Comcast is a bunch of dirty double dipped dog liars!!!!!!! Anybody who does dog dipps for flies knows what I mean by a double dipped dog.

I'm still kicking as I slowly rehab from onery ailments up here in the increasingly colorful N.C. mountains. Coming down to Greensboro tomorrow to vote in the primary for Mayor and City Council. Cannot understand why anyone wants to serve in the role and take the abuse and deal with some often incompetent munincipal staff ----but I am glad someone does. Unlike your "landslide" in the Rolesville campaign there is significant money involved in the GSO campaigns.
Still no appreciable rain on the high branchead plateau that Greensboro occupies and the exceptional drought continues. Have received about 2-1/2" here in Banner Elk recently but nothing to register on the gauge in Greensboro or at the farm in Summerfield.
Anyway thanks for asking about me.
