Chief - hold the east flank. Snowhizo cannot handle sweet tea as the snowhizo thinks it is hot weather when the tea comes out!

Ran some trains this morning at a friends place. Got the Empire State Express out so it could stretch its legs. Slow freights had to hold the sidings!

Looks to be one of the coldest Easter weekends on record here - global warming????

I guess with the networks losing major sports to cable and satellite, they are hurting for sports. Bicycle race on NBC right now - the commentators are calling it like a NASCAR race - LOL Confused [%-)]

Tom - thanks for posting Keith's new toy. I got one of those sets also. Really like it. Smooth runner although my e-unit is a little balky.

Mike C - sorry to hear about your friends loss. We shudder with our daughter driving. You do not realize how hard it is until you try to teach your kids. When I learned there were no permissive left turns at major intersections or right turn on red. All these idiots were not running red lights either. So bad here they are installing cameras at a lot of interesctions.

Have a great day all!

Good morning from a frigid and windy Crystal Lake where I took the youngest out to the sod farm where the town has its egg hunt. No wind breaks - so it felt like 17. It was crazy. At least it is not snowing. When the whistle blew, parents were running around like lunatics picking up eggs, then touching their clueless 2 yr old's mittens with 'em like he was picking them up himself, and tossing the eggs in a basket. Hilarious. Our boy had a great time - getting them himself. Good day for running trains.

Nick, have a great holiday: people from our church travel regularly to the DR for missions work.

Dr John, we're going to get our honey-baked ham later today - mmmmm.

Hi All,

17:31 BST here in sunny Peterborough. 15 deg C here but feels warmer.  Looking forward to making a start on the gamesroom/garage when I get back from Holiday. Been so busy with work that I have not had time to get quotes for the block work.

If any of you are in the Dom. Rep. in the next two weeks I'm the guy on the Beach with a Doxa watch and a copy of CTT or the latest Clive Cussler novel and a tequila... Cool [8D]

Good morning all,

It is sunny and cold in SE Indiana with temps in the 30s today (Kevin, you can close that door in Alaska any day now).  Watched "Close to Home" and "Numb3rs" last night.  They were both good.  I set up the Fastrack oval last night and ran the Alaska set with a couple of extra cars.  I have been busy putting stuff away this morning so the kids won't get into it on Sunday.  I may run the Alaska set some more.  I had waffles and bacon on the dining car this morning after it arrived from "Points East".

Some sad news on Good Friday.  People who go to church with us and whose one son is on the soccer team lost their oldest son in car wreck.  Right now they do not know who was driving as all three persons were ejected from the car.  He was only 22.  Tmcc man, be careful when you drive.  I tell my own son the same thing.  I will catch up on the rest of the posts later.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Hi All from down Texas way...

We're driving down to Fredericksburg today from Salado (where my parents live).  Saw the Bertram depot.  It's raining and cold today.  Yea I know I should be used to it...but in Colorado we have no humidity..so 35 degrees in Texas is colder than 35 degrees in Colorado.

Dug out my old train set yesterday...need to clean it up and see it it will still run when I get back home.  Hope everyone is doing well..

Jerry

P.S.  My Dad is driving.  I have a 115.2 bluetooth data connection between my laptop and my PDA phone catching up on my forum reading.  Gotta love technology.

Our little Church is having its annual 1,000 egg [plastic] hunt this morning. Interestingly, the Minister said to please not bring chocolate candy Kisses,Snickers, etc, for placing in the plastic eggs because it always melts [except Toosie Rolls]. No sweet ice tea today and we need a barrel of coffee for today and Sunrise Service tomorrow.

Well, melting candy is not a problem today with still 35 degrees and 18 mph winds for 20s chill---the problem is keeping the kids, adults[Tootsie Rolls& Jelly Beans]warm. Only had a dusting of snow here around 4 a.m. but at our 4,000' altitude N.C. mountain cottage, the locals report 4-6" and still "spitting"---predicted for again tonight. Beech and Sugar Mountain Ski Resort owners are happy with 13 degree temp and fresh fall over man-made snow.

Happy Easter and good health to all!

No Yanks, its not over!!!  I've said that all along.  Got you with GRITS this time, sweet ice tea the next time. Laugh [(-D]

BTW: you can take your COLD air back.  Wind too.  Just for that, I made sure you got SNOW.

Off to Miss Edna's for a visit.  been a long time since I was there on a Saturday.

Dr. John, you earn your money this time of year and Christmas.  Good job.

One reason I was on the laptop so late, I ran trains for several hours and MTH did very well last night.  Must have been the moon night before last. Question [?]

Later.

Good morning from sunny, cold and windy central Alabama!

I'm heading up to the church for our annual Easter Egg hunt for children. Lots of games, food, rides, etc. A lot of fun. I'll meet & greet, then help with clean-up. Wish we could get one of the little gasoline trains to run, but the Methodists get that one each year!Wink [;)]  We do a hay-ride pulled by a big John Deere tractor instead.

This afternoon, we'll head over to Montgomery so wife and two daughters can shop, then pick up a Honey Baked ham for tomorrow's dinner. Son gets in late this evening from Birmingham - always nice to have everyone home, even if for a day.

Up early tomorrow morning church services, then spend rest of the day at home (no evening services on Easter). Have a great weekend, everyone!

Keith - All I can say is WOW,  I love the photos that Spankybird posted of your new tinplate toy.  I am sure you love it.

Not much happening here. Had to make an emergency run to work yesterday for a teacher who lost her wallet and was frantic that it had been stolen(she found it in the floor under her desk). Never did get to run trains.

The Mrs. and I are leaving today for a visit to Mom & Dad's to drop off the pooch and then to BIL and SIL's house to take the two pre-teen nieces to a bluegrass concert.  The Mrs. and I are anxious to go, although the girls are less than excited.  We will spend the night in Nothern VA, go to church with them and then head to Mom & Dad's for Easter Dinner tomorrow.

Happy Easter to all.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cold 20 degrees. Clear skies, but we may have a few snow flurries. Going up to 34 today.

Today, we are driving over to Zanesville, for supper with the Wife's Niece. It will be nice to get out for a few hours. Tomorrow, we are suppose to drive up to the Cleveland area, for Easter, with the Daughter and her Family. I am having a few doubts about that, due to the weather. This cold spell is going to be around for awhile.

Ran trains for a few hours yesterday. Made some adjustments. Need more time to work on layout. Maybe next week will be good.

Dining car is here and I hear " All Aboard ". Breakfast.

Y'all have a great Saturday.

Mornin' peeps!  (Get it?)  Cold, grey, with a dusting of snow on the ground here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  We have lots to do in the fifedog household today...having a SWEET (I wish) SIXTEEN for the oldest girl.  Have been taking her out all week for her learner's permit (I shall use that to my advantage later), and she handles the wheel like she's been driving for years (probably has...)

Evenin' some,  Very Early Mornin' to others.

Rested up after getting home from the museum, sure could tell it was Good Friday. Morning traffic was almost non-existent and the ride home wasn't near as bad as usual. It was very busy today with lots of kiddos, young & old alike, visiting the museum and saw lots of smiles. Hopefully I'll have some photos to post on Sunday, more than likely late sunday or early monday since I have a bit of cooking to do for sunday.

If most people think trains are for boys and not girls check out this link, especially the video.

Hello all,

Quite a change in the weather!  I got about an inch of snow in the yard.  We had Good Friday Services tonight and all went well.  We'll have practice for Easter Vigil in the morning the services start at 8 p.m Saturday evening.  It has been real busy so I've not had much time to play with trains.  The bride is doing better after the carple tunnel but still needs help with stuff.  She is tough so all will be good soon.  I'm on night shift and on break so this will be brief.

Hope you all have a blessed Easter hoilday.

Jim

Saw some snowflakes today!  Everything is pretty green from the warm weather last week, but all the flowers are doomed for sure.  Put down fertilizer and grub killer today and picked up 5 more light fixtures for the basement as well as some illuminated 3-way switches.  Spent about $240 at Home Depot and it went FAST.  They had 6 fixtures in stock and I took them all to the counter, but luckily the lady noticed one of them was different - the boxes were identical, but they used different bulbs.  Would have been sad when I opened the box and found they were different.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Good evening all,

It was sunny and snowy and cold in SE Indiana today with temps in the 30s.  I have been busy the last two days and have not had time to check in until now.  I will have to read all the posts later.  My wife and I went to Bloomington, IN to do some "antiquing".  We did not find anything, but it was a nice drive and it was a good day to do that sort of thing.  Today we cleaned house in preparation for the Easter gathering here.  I had to put away a lot of stuff because we will have a lot of little kids here as well.  I hope everyone has a good day and I will try to catch up on the posts tomorrow.  "Close to Home" and Numb3rs" are new tonight.  Jimtrumpie, I thought "Lost" was really good Wednesday night.

Keep on training,

MIke C. from Indiana
