Yes, I live in hills. actually in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. There is a small town 35 north of me called Shenandoah. it is a division point for NS. it is 1/2 way between Roanoke and Hagerstown. they locals call it Shenandoor.

feagles, I can too read and cipher a mite too! I do remember a phone conversation in which you sorta stumbled around with the types of engines you were trying to unload on  me as I was trying to help ya out and I really don't care where you got the mth box, mth still sucks!

Maybe we can organize a meeting in Roanoke some weekend.  Dewey, Lisa, bb01 [Jim], RRTrainCollector anyone of Rebel conviction and myself could take a weekend and visit O Winston Link, some of the NS, the VA Transportation Museum and some Train Shops [bbo1 knows a good one there].

THE LINK MUSEUM IS OK AND THE VA TRANSPORTATION MUSEUM IS OK AS WELL. HOBBY SHOP IS REAL GOOD!

Wow 3 guys posting from the left coast!

Frustrating week-end - all the stuff brought home from York, and have to work!  Then to top that off its Talledega today.  (8)  Will set up 2 VCR's if I'm lucky might get some of the race.

Talked to a friend at the computer show about old power supplies, will use for some accessories and lights, unlimited availability and the price is right.  Need to get more detail from John and Roy.

Hoped to get some pics up but no time.  Off to work!

John B, I found accommodation hard to come by at last years Ilkley show. Try the Craiglands Hotel it tends to be overlooked  by most people  as its seen as a bit posh and therefore thought to be expensive but its only about £10 a night more than the average in the area. But its a very nice 3* hotel. Breakfast is good to. Its only 1/2 mile from the show venue.

 I managed to return there after last years dinner & drinks so its easy to find

It's good to see some new blood on the pot. We still have been on the road alot and that doesn't leave much time for our trans. We did spend some time at the museum yesterday, just to run the trains.

Good morning from a sunny and warm Crystal Lake where I spent yesterday pruning outside things. Tbe big news is our youngest got on a two-wheeler (bike) for the first time and just zipped around - goodbye tricycle and big plastic truck. Told the middle boy I'd pay him to pick up the results of all my pruning - and he took me up on it - he's saving for an acoustic guitar. Ran the CSL trolley last eve. Welcome to the forum, Jim.

Morning all.  Packing and off to the store.  Don't worry as much about Yankee invasion with bb01 and Lisa holding the line.   Can't wait until I get home to see how much the grass and garden has grown.  bb01, the box has not arrived from the Yank in IL [per wife].  Must be on pony express.  Everytime I've delt with him, slow shipper but comes through with great product.  This trip turned out to be good.  Sold a few chargers, got to meet Lisa and see her great art work and scenery.  Wish Dewey had been able to ride up with me.  Maybe the next time.  If gas wasn't $3 a gallon, I'd make  a trip back just to do that.  Then eat some of Lisa's different Bar-Be-Que.

It is a sunny 50 degrees. Going up to 75 today. Suppose to be a beautiful day.

Today is a busy day. I have to mow the entire yard. The grass has really grown. It's going to take a couple of hours to dry out first. They are calling for rain, again tomorrow, so today is the day to mow. I don't think I'll get any train time in, today.

I hope everyone stayed nice and cool today- summer is back here in SoCal, with the second day of temps here in Santa Clarita in the mid 90's I almost forgot how hot it gets here. Tried to do some yard work at 3:00 p.m.- just went back inside and turned on the A/C.

The funny thing is that it's going to get alot hotter (normally in the 100's during summer)- gotta love working outdoors...

Good evening all,

It was a cool but sunny (mostly) day in SE Indiana.  I patched the alley with a truckload of gravel and worked on the ramps to the new garage door.  I also mowed the yard and planted a tree I picked up at a local home improvement show.  Last night was TV night as we watched the "Lost" tape (pretty good show, Jimtrumpie.  I wonder if they are all dead or if what has happened was just a flash in someone's life before they died.), and "Close to Home" and "Numb3rs".  Three women are racing at the IRL race in Kansas this weekend.  I hope everyone has a good day.

John B.  I agree, while our pets are here, they share plenty of true love.  They still greet me when I come home like I am the greatest thing they ever saw.  Sometimes the kids do too, but always the dogs.

John (csxt30), dated girls with all different colored hair, but ended up marrying a blonde southern bell.  Best thing I ever did.  While she is out shopping, I am here on the computer and soon to be back in the "industries" book we just got.  I agree with you on the freight house and the propane facilities.  I see a few more that may make the layout too.  I think we have a lot of information we can gleen from our HO and scale friends.  Speaking of which, I would encourage folks to go to the "Model Railroader" web site and check out some of the articles accessed at the top of the web page.  Lots of good info.

Good evening to all.  Been reading the forum for the last couple of days but too  busy and tired to post. Three nights this past week I did not leave work until after 8:00 PM.  Thirteen hour days at work take a toll on my energy level.  In addition, we have had some rathr stressful student and personnel issues.

We have some good news.  Our son has been accepted into Grad School at American University.  He will start in August.

John B, If you want to bring your loco to the Ilkley show you are welcome give her a run on my layout. Was hoping to make a start on the gamesroom/garage now but since I have been on holiday we have had loads of work come in (this a good thing, but it delays the Charlie & Nick RR). I think I will have to find a builder to do the outer shell as I won't have the time with the current work load.

1700 BST and 17degC. here in a lovely, warm Stockport. April this year has been the warmest since records began in 1640 with the average temperature 3degC above normal (8degC). Looks like we've got the Yankees weather.

Not much to report really, had a 4.7 scale earthquake around Folkestone, a few pot dolls fell off a shelf and a woman tripped over a cat, made the headlines though!

Pets like people come into our lives and eventually go, so long as the bit in the middle means we share love and pleasure for a while, the pain of parting can be eased by happy memories.

Lionel is out for the immediate future, the Ashlar-Spen-Valley RR is in chapter 11 until the end of June due to management blunders with the liquid assets department. 

Talking of liquidity, I should have some more pub photo's for Dennis soon, this time with better captions and notes.

Going to Leeds tomorrow with the beloved for a lunch of deep fried/battered haddock, chips(fries), mushy peas, tea, bread and butter followed by a great big dollop of ice cream. Then to the Working Men's Club for a sneck lifter.

Morning Y'all, just back from the vet.  An emotional roller coaster.  She was having real bad walking issues and could hardly stand.  The vet did X-rays and her joints all look great.  He consulted with another vet and the prognosis is that she has a problem with her spinal cord. This is one of those things that a vet is taught about in school, but may never see in practice, so it is rare.  They are keeping her and giving her steroids.  If she shows improvement, we will work on things and she should get better.  If no improvement soon, then we will have to put her down.

So, now I am home and waiting on the guy with the sprayer truck to spray for weeds, ants and fertilizer.  Then, maybe some trains.

busy? yes and no. did what I do best-wait on others to decide they are going to getaroundtoit. was supposed to meet with new computer folks, go over contract and sign-guy called and said he had the flu, also waiting on fellow back from vacation to call and tell me we could start 11 new stores-no call and I really don't expect 1-will have to go about another way to get his attention, oh, waiting for 2 years on old computer person to put in quad servers, new on-line program,get credit card hookup, get year old program to work right. found 21+ 7-11's that I need to call and see if I can get a live person to talk to or play phone tag with, also returned call to fellow in NC who wanted info, but was not available both times I called, got PPT report from accountant when I got the mail. signed same and put in envelope for mailing today. a mite cool and too wet to work in yard, sooo went to rr, spread and glued some ballast,(cleaned some track that I had already ballasted, then ran GP35 I got from some cracker in NC who doesn't know a GP from an SD AND had the balls to ship Atlas engines in mth box(can you believe that?) worked on replacement bridge installation(1 of 3). in the eve did more ballast, moved some scrap lumber and swept up piles of sawdust and assorted other crap off floor where I am looking at hidden yard under the table, which will also be under future main yard. let me see, I thinks that was all I did yesterday. oh, was expecting a call from lawyer about PPT problem that has been in the works for 10 years or so-he called Wed, but I had gone to bank and get dinner(supper as the case maybe) and was supposed to call back Thursday, but didn't, sooooooooooo, I think that was my dull and boring day yesterday. Sorry you had 1 also! hope today better! actually this is a test message to see if anyone actually reads anything from someone new or realizes that someone new has attempted to have a cup of coffee with you folks. I will not bother you good folks again. I always try to stay away from where I am not wanted. thanks for the education and confirmation.
