Evening everyone. John Baker, by all means, find your way to the pub! I am sure you can find a method of getting warm once you get there. While you are there, please snap a few photos and enjoy the evening. Chief, I am proud of you, all that work on the layout and all that snow hitting Ohio! I may be going to a meeting at OSU-Columbus the weekend of Feb.16-18th, so if you could take care of something else while I am there (don't want to get stuck in hostile territory).
Speaking of Ohio, does anyone know of any good train stores near by and what the hours are? I think I would be arriving Friday afternoon and will be in meetings until 6pm Sat. and 5pm Sun. Perhaps some in the area are up for some dinner....any place in the area serve Grits?
Had a good morning, the kids got up in time to have a good breakfast and get ready for Church in a respectable time and get there so I could run the light board. The message was especially good and Sunday School was a pleasure. Dr. John, "Facing the Giants" DVD should be out on the 30th of this month. Also, I sat with the main guy behind the movies and he told me that we are doing well in the progress to getting the third one going. I will keep you informed.
Have a great week and if I miss it, congrats on the 1000 post to whomever it goes to.

Good evening all,
It SNOWED in Indianazo (as the Chief would put it) overnight. We got about 3-4 inches, which compared to what we have gotten in the past is nothing. Lucas and I shoveled all the sidewalks and I drove up and down the alley a few times to clear the pathways there. We went to church, which was not very crowded. I set up the 318E in the back room and was running that this afternoon while Lucas was working. Looks like the Bears will go to the Superbowl. Although I really don't care if the Colts win today, it would be nice if they did so I don't have to hear about how Manning can't win a big game. Blueberry Hill, sorry I was late for breakfast this morning. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Just a Hobo wrote: Laz ... is that what's it's called a clam bucket . You probably bought the one I saw ... have'nt seen any for a long while with it . Was gonna bid on that one ... glad I did'nt if it was ... and run it up on you . Is it remotely opened or closed ? That would be cool .... loading my hoppers ... then I'd really have to have one . If not wonder how hard it would be to reconfigure it .... hummmmm .
HOBO,
It is controlled that you can rotate 360 degrees andraise and lower bucket, and open close the bucket. Real cool, I use my two coal loaders add coal to them then fill cars works real cool.
Kids love it to its like playing skill crane.

Laz, Glad your team won. The first 3 quarters were good, NO sort of self destructed after that.
Nick12DMC Thanks for the gritter info....here they just call them salt trucks.
dwiemer The Blue Caboose is one train store that comes to mind in Columbus....I'll get the addy for you.

dwiemer The Blue Caboose The Blue Caboose. 4290 Indiana Ave. Columbus, OH 43214. 614-447-1707 Just down the street is The Train Station (614) 262-9056 4430 Indianola Ave. I'm sure some Columbus folks will have some others for you. I've been to several others there but can't think of the names right now.

Underworld, you are a dollar short and a day late. The Blue Caboose on Indianola is closed. The landlord raised the rent and out the door they went. They closed last year, maybe in August.
Well after all that noise and hullabaloo, we only got about 1/4 inch of snow at our house. Roads were clear when I woke up at 8 this AM. Up too late last night watching a movie and looking at stuff on ebay etc. Found a Weetabix van/truck that looks like it's about 1/43, but by the time I got the email back with the dimensions the listing closed. I'll watch and see if it gets relisted. Watching Dukes of Hazard Season Seven, fourth disc -- the first episodes on this disc has Boss Hogg and Roscoe playing with an O gauge train set!
Hey - how many stars would I have gotten on the old software for my 1000th post? Cause this was it!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

That stinks! That was a pretty cool store. Hadn't been down there in a few years. Are there stores you would recommend in Columbus???
Jim Fortner We got called for a bunch of snow here too....supposed to snow all day, what we got was light flurries.
jefelectric wrote:Forgot to mention, if anyone is interested, I posted more pictures of my catenary on Sunday Photo Fun.
John, (jefelectric), your catanery looks great! I may need to do a loop of it for some electrics. Good to know you have done it and hopefully will have any bugs worked out prior to my venture.
Thanks for the headsup on the train stores. I know I can still have fun in OHIO, especially when I wear my Florida Gators gear!
Well, gonna head back to the family. Hope everyone has a wonderful week.

MS trains on West Broad is a MTH dealer. Limited selection but great service. MSRP dealer.
John and Betty's Trains in Galena, another MTH dealer. He gets kinda pushy sometimes trying to sell you something. MSRP dealer.
Robbies Hobbies. I'm not sure, but I think there is a connection to the Blue Caboose. Again limited selection.
The Train Station...not a O gauge store. Great HO selection.
Dunham's in London, OH......Haven't been there yet, but haven't heard anything great.
Smokestack Hobbies, Lancaster....A great selection of Lionel and MTH. Old K-Line still on shelves.
Hobbyland...never have what I need. MSRP dealer. Have started carrying Atlas Trainman.
Is Davis Trains in that area ? Milford Ohio ? I'm probably way off base here !!
John, ( Jeffelectric ), saw your pictures & they are great !! Looks like nice stuff !! You're doing a great job with it !!
Thanks, John
Buckeye Thanks! Hadn't heard of most of those before. I'll definately have to check out John and Betty's.....I like knowing when there are pushy sales people. I like to go in and look at lots of expensive stuff, get their hopes up, then say I'll be back next week! Sort of a head check for pushy sales people.
John,
The canary and pantagrams are really neat!

Evening all,
Sounds like I could spend a week in Ohio and not see anything but the insides of hobby shops. It'd be window shopping only though...the wife would have my VISA cancelled before I crossed the border.
Rumor has it we'll be waiting a bit longer for TMCCII. I hope they're wrong and the release date isn't pushed up until late spring. Not to stir up any controversy or anything but isn't there some other structure companies can use for releasing new products that really don't require public input like this. I certainly understand the reasoning behind getting a feel for what the public wants in new engines or rolling stock and the time difference between prototype and production. But things like new type track or accessories or control systems really could be kept under wraps until maybe a month or two before release date. Is there that much emphisis placed on public demand that a company can't actually think for themselves about what they should produce? At the very least, new releases could be announced in one catalog and in the customers hands before the next catalog is published.
I know all this has been bantered around before. I certainly won't lose any sleep over it either. It'd just be nice if, in my ideal world you could walk into your LHS and pick up a brand new current product, look it over, see it run, then decide if I want it or not instead of settling for something thats brand new but already 2 years old.
Sorry for the rant...I promise it won't happen again because I've decided not to pre-order anything else, ever. Can you tell this is my first pre-order?

Spent all my allowance on train stuff, that's for sure. I won a bunk car with lights and smoke, then today I won a Lionel Lines derrick car and just now an MTH AF Sawmill (like new). Need to stay off ebay for a few days
We ate out at a chinese food buffet yesterday and I've been feeling sick ever since. Hopefully I'll be okay tomorrow, cause all our snow melted or is melting and no hopes for a school day tomorrow (my turn to take off for a snow day).
Home Depot called and my replacement sash for my window came in. Luckily I checked it before I signed for it at the counter. I need the right hand sash with locking toggle - they sent the left hand with the receiver. They'll call tomorrow and tell me when to expect the correct part. Things go in threes, so we had the computer stuff, the window (apparently the glass broke when the temp changed - there was water inside the the double pane and only the inside pane broke), and the camera. So, hopefully clear sailing for a little while now.
John B - I was thinking a Gritter might be a sort of critter from NC?
Man! My personal 1000th post was almost the 1000th post on the new Pot - that would have been really cool!
