Congrats to you and your daughter.  We might get channel 6 if it is a Comcast channel...  The Mount is a great school.  We have visting seminarians and faculty at our church in Gettysburg and they are great.  My son has a friend who goes to the Mount and it is one of his favorite places to visit.  Beautiful place. Did you get a chance to visit the Grotto, if not, be sure to visit the next time you are there.

Thanks for the encouraging words about the job.  It really is a win-win.  I love my current school and will be OK if I don't get it. Disappointed if I don't get it, sure, but life will go on.

Take care,

Mitch

Zeke, lived up by Ft. Benning for 8 years, lots of inf. up that way.  Also, Pathfinders, sniper, and lots of other schooling up there too.  One friend is a Lt. Col., at Ft. Hood.  He was at Lewis with Stryker.  One friend is Task 21, rotates every 2 months Iraq/Afgan./Home, back.  Greatest group one could know.

Got plenty to do tonight, FIL is making a visit in the morning.

What I wouldn't do for some Coney Island Greek Fries, Loaded Hot Dog and a Root Beer!

Or some REAL Buffalo wings... you would think with all the migrants from Pittsburgh down here in Bal'more SOMEONE would have figured out how to make some tasty wings by now... Whistling [:-^]

Fife, I hear ya on the allergies thing... wife is constantly being laid out due to them... and she has asthma to boot!  She starts itching and wheezing due to the pollen, then she has an asthma attack, which wipes her out... then I spend a couple hours getting hot tea and lemon bombs for her... all the while she is whining... poor girl needs a bubble to walk around in!

Evenin' boys.  Simply gorgeous here in the Mid-Atlantic today.  No rain, although we could use a dose to knock down the pollen;my boy is suffering something fierce.  Just finished mowing the lawn;YUPPIE style=diagonally.

After a long day in the sun, I like to sit down and enjoy a good burger.  Wish I had a SONIC burger!  Then I could wash it down with a tasty beverage... say, a SONIC shake!  Now, where can I find one...

Just wanted to tell everyone about the great customer service I received from Glen's Train Shop in Akron.  I ordered an MTH set from them Wednesday, and the brown angel brought it a couple of hours ago.  I never thought I'd get it that fast.

Dennis, barely remember the one in Colorado.  Never been there.  I was volunteer for 20 years in NJ and then 3 here in FLA.  I went to the Fallen Firefighter service a few years back.  Very moving.  My department has 1 Line of Duty Death member.  I was fighting a fire when he died of a heart attack directing traffic.  We were good friends and neighbors (he lived across the street from me).  JJ was an old Sutherner, alway had 'shine in the house...spoke perfect Nawthern until he got his Rebel up...he was a great guy.  Sorry to ramble on, just safe to say the NFF Memorial grounds are someting to see....just like Mother Seton's Shrine!

Actually the black suit is the correct suit.  Batman is also known as the black knight and was originally dressed in all black.  When the TV series came about the directors didn't think the audience would take to an all black character so they changed the colors of Batman's and Robin's outfits to the 'happy colorful' ones you saw during your youth.  When the first Batman movie came out, DC comics decided it was time to bring back the original costume and that is when black batman fought colorful batman in the comic books and black batman won...

Now you may wonder how I know all this since I have NEVER read a comic book my entire life?  When I started working after college I worked with two fellas that were avid comic book collectors, one day during lunch we ventured down to the comic book store and we were discussing the different super heroes.  That is when they told me the story... and to think I still remember it 10 years later...

I liked Michael Keaton as Batman more than anyone else... although the new guy comes close (sounds alot like Keaton).

Tell me boy... ever dance with the devil in the pale moonlight?

Afternoon all,

Doug- If I had to wear a cape and tights I'd stay in a cave too!

Brent - As far as the tub goes, there is a lot of potiential weight.Shock [:O]  Figure where you want it  and investigate what the substructure and framing are.  Depending on your set-up you will need 120, or 220 volts available.  The circuit needs to be GFIC protected.  When you situate the tub, maintain access to the pump filters and electronics via a removable door of sorts.  The plumbing is the easy part.

I got the All Aboard layout together and tested.  It is really neat.  It is on the floor in the trainroom, so I guess I'm a floor runner now!Big Smile [:D]

Need to run.  May God bless

Rich, if you are in the IAFF, they have another "National Fallen Firefighters Memorial" in Colorado Springs.  I just mention this, should you ever find yourself out that way.  Have some friends with their names on both walls.....shame.

Ken, Make sure you go to the Shrine of Elisabeth Ann Seton.  I went to the National Fire Academy (right next door!) and went throught the shrine.  Very impressive!! A couple of the firefighters I went to class with, must of caught it just right, as some of the nuns there gave them a guided tour.  Of course I would also recommend the National FireFighers Memorial, for obvious reasons....Whistling [:-^]

Congrat to your daughter, you must be very proud!

Mike,

I just had a chance to watch Lost.  It gets better every week.

Does anyone have a MTH Rail King 4-6-0?  I ordered the 4-6-0 christmas set w/ PS2, and I was wondered how people like the 4-6-0.  I'll check in later, have to wax the car this afternoon.

Well had the house remediated today... $845... not bad... now have a 6inch PVC smoke stack on the side of the house... told the wife if we were staying I would paint the side of the house to resemble a steam loco and the pipe as the smoke stack... she laughed and told me to go ahead and do it!  We aren't staying so she doesn't care!  LOL!

Wife is scouring EBay looking for faucets... guess I'm going to have some projects in the new house... LOL!

Anyone know how to install a whirpool tub?  She wants this 2 person jacuzzi tub... Whistling [:-^] but I think it is just so she has room to splash around!  Laugh [(-D]

If trains were all I were looking for it wouldn't be worth it. There are a number of things I look for, including the week's shopping list that normal people would take to Kmart or Target. I always find something from that list. There are enough things I'm interested in that I always find enough to make it worth my while. Sometimes I'm only out for a couple of hours. On a good day I stay out until I run out of room in the car or money in the wallet.

I found a train last week, but it was an MPC-era 8602, I think. DC powered. They were asking $95 for it. Sorry, I already had the very set they had, and I paid $10 for it last year including the original box. I did buy a box full of CTTs at that sale though. I already had a lot of them, but there were a bunch from the 1990s that I didn't. So I was happy. Maybe some other sucker bought the train.

Morning.  Slept till 8:30. Big Smile [:D]  Had Sonic Grand Opening and ribbon cutting 1 block from house but did not go.  Sleep more important than a Yankee fast food.  Didn't want it located there anyway but previous board years ago zoned it wrong.  The few "good ole boys" left on the board didn't want to hurt the good ole man that owned it.  Then it became a nightmare.  Developer was a real AH.  I just reminded them of my opposition with a big smile.

Got to go get some wire.  Did not finish my project last night as ran out of the correct size of wire needed.

The Yanks must have stolen all of our rain.  We were suppose to get lots.  Nothing.  Well, clouds and cold [had to close up greenhouse].

Dr. John, sent boss email this AM.  Buddy in West Blocton said BPS was looking like it would open soon.  Reminded him I wantged to do that Grand Opening.

Zeke, you retired military?  Hats off to you.  whne I was hiring, I always gave vets preference and especially retired military.  Retired military knew how to work and come to work.

Off to shop for supplies.

Good morning from a sunny and cool Chicago where I am looking forward to seeing Spiderman Trey tomorrow afternoon with the 4 yr. old, then host a bunch of my daughter's  high school friends who suddenly decided they want to barbeque. Guess that means I'm on the hook for meat and drinks. Well, I'd rather them be over here where they can be watched than somewhere else.

Birthday Felicitations to Zeke - thank you for serving, man!

Morning, all!

Happy B-Day [bday] to Zeke! Hope it's a good one.

Jim, I'm like you. I've never had any luck at yard sales. Never saw the first train. Bought a shovel once for $2. The handle promptly broke the first time I used it.

Off to Birmingham tonight. Our son is receiving an award and an additional scholarship from the UAB Business school this evening. Then up early tomorrow morning for Prattville's CityFest - kind of an arts & crafts festival downtown. Our church has a tent where we pass out free bottles of water, a brochure about the church, and pre-register kids for Vacation Bible School. Lots of fun!

I doubt yard sales would be that productive for my down here.  Not many into O and the only train related items I have seen were HO.  With the distance between homes here, it would take a good bit of gas to make more than a few stops.

John, my dad gave me his trains.  He does enjoy playing with them, he just has not had the time since I was much younger.

Zeke, I emailed you, I need your mailing address to send the Greenberg's manual.  I am sure it will help with your train repairs and operating.  What was your MOS, I have many friends still serving.  One was to go back this month, but they changed his orders and he will be going back in the fall.  It is hard for the families too.

May everyone have a good weekend.  I am on call for awhile, so not sure how much train time I will get in.  I am heading in later this morning, but for now, I am home with the kids.  Like a hockey goalie, I just kick'em back into play.....just kidding.

Before I go, Jim and others interested in C&O, the Train-Station auction has a hudson and passenger cars up for auction this weekend.  The good news, is that they have quality items, the bad, is that folks know it and the prices usually are right in market, not huge discounts, but I have gotten some good deals.

I have good news. If the 1060 moved two inches, then it most likely has some life left in it. Have you put some grease on the gears and some oil on the axles? Just a little is all it takes. You especially want to go easy on the oil. I'd run the engine connected directly to the transformer (no track) for a while to get the motor used to running again. It's easier on the motor if all it has to do is spin its wheels at first. Once the cobwebs are out of it, it'll have enough power to move itself and some cars.

That'll also give you a good indication of how bad the track is. If it runs fine connected straight to the transformer, you know your track is the problem. But it could be that once the loco is used to running again, it'll be able to run even on less than perfect track. I got started with my dad's stuff a few years ago, and it was in as poor shape as the stuff you have. It took a while but it's all working now.
