Fife - Just give me a call and I'll be over to help!  I hope to have the bathroom done by York.  That way I can start on the layout... actually I may do that while I am 'resting up' to start the bathroom... taking a couple week break from work after the shed is completed... can't wait to rest on the John Deere too... he hasn't been run for about a month now! Good Morning Y'all!

Just did a quick scan over the past few days worth of messages.  Thanks for the kind thoughts.  Dad did indeed have a a MI (heart attack).  They did a angioplasty/stent and he should be released today.  Looks good as not too much damage.

I did go to the train show, but did not make it to Memory Station....to far out of the way.  Will have to make a special trip for that.  I did stop and see the folks from MS selling and inquired about a Wabash engine, but it had already been sold.

Looking forward to this weekend's get together with Chief and Dr. John.

Hope everyone has a good one,

dennis

Hey Brent, why didn't a guy like you (more money than brains) just have a shed company drop a shed in your back yard? Oh, wait, I think I just answered that myself... Wink [;)]

Good morning from a stormy and cool Chicago where it is allegedly supposed to get back to 90 today and storm the rest of the week. The kids are happy because it's keeping them from cutting the grass. Here is a great front-page article about a guy whose has spent his life restoring one trolley at the Illinois Railway Museum: http://www.chicagotribune.com/features/chi-trolleyman13_aug13,0,2689400.story

Boy, I sure noticed how the Chicago L structure highlights the handsomeness of those two fellows in Roy's photo.Big Smile [:D]

Welcome Hill!

Dave, I'll join the prayers for your wife.

Dennis, good news about your dad!

Fife, good luck on painting the house this fall - I'm still recovering from spending last summer way way up high on a ladder with a can 'o paint.

Ah teenagers! I got a $350 cell phone bill yesterday - it's normally $94. Someone has been on the phone too much and it wasn't me nor the bride.Sigh [sigh]

Ha ha... Wink [;)]

The shed is on the other side of the yard from where the driveway is.  For a shed company to deliver one would have required them to drive over two well lines and that to me isn't a good idea.  That and I got to try my hand a framing and buy a new framing nailer! Big Smile [:D] Soooooo it would appear I have more brains than money! Wink [;)] It hasn't been hard work, just very time consuming.  It would have gone much faster had I actually thought to buy the shorter 2x4s... it has been fun and I'm getting some much needed exercise!

Another hot one here today - 104?

I heard about Brent and that shed and those 2 x 4's. He went to the lumber store and when he asked them about 2 x 4's, they asked how long did he want them. Well Brent replies "for a long time of course - I'm building a shed with them."  Laugh [(-D]

Doug - you are right about that photo Wink [;)]

Good Morning,

Chief, you'd be proud. I just opened a bag of Tom's potato chips I bought in N.C. Figured it was ok as I didn't see Grits listed as an ingredient. good.

Cloudy maybe rain but haven't seen any since I've been home. I guess I'm going to the county fair(Armada Kurt) tomorrow as my wife doesn't want to take the boys by herself. Her new chinese brakes are still working for now. I never saw that before but my friend says it's way too common.I can't believe brake pads that rust. No list of new Lionel at the store yet heard they are holding back release of diesels waiting for legacy.

My giant tomotoes are beginning to go under the knife so I'm a happy train guy today.                              Sir James

Good Morning,

Hill, I never used the Bayberry, but have tried Gingerbread, Coffee and Grandpa's Pipe Smoke.  The family says the last one is the best of the lot.

Dave, Prayers for your wife.  Don't get me started on Health Insurance! Sad [:(] Banged Head [banghead]

Brent, I think K-Line called that "Snap Track".  I to would like to have some of your energy, of course that is not likely to happen at 68. Wink [;)]

Dennis, Glad to hear your Dad is on the mend.

BTW, I am waiting for the plumber to show up.  Wife woke me up at 5:30 to let me know she heard water running.  Nice stream of water coming down into the basement, through a first floor patition, from the second floor bath.  Think it is the line to second floor tub and pot.  Turned off the valve that feeds that line and it stopped.  Not sure what needs to be done to fix it, but I don't do that stuff myself anymore.  So far no damage to plaster on ceiling or walls, hope non show up before it dries out.  Home ownership is such fun! Big Smile [:D] Sad [:(] Sigh [sigh]

On the bright side I got a mystery package yesterday in the mail.  Opened it up to discover Don had sent me two collector beer cans.  HORSESHOE CURVE BEER!  The now have an honored spot on my memorabilia shelf.

Take care all.

88 - I appreciate the offer, B.  But I have a teenaged boy, who doesn't know it yet, but he is about to become most proficient with a 5 inch bristle brush...

Speaking of teens, cnw1995, the big question is now that your cellphone fear has been realized, what steps are we gonna take to forstall a repeat.  I say one swipe with the SLEDGE-O-MATIC would do the trick. (oh, not on the kid; on the phone...)  My kids are allowed to have all the cellphone calls they want...as long as somebody else is paying for them...

Sounds like the very thought is making you swoon, Fifey!

Personally, if I had the to-do list Brent does, I'd dial 1-800-getoverherewithashedrightnow, but it's all good.  Work keeps a man honest and idle hands are the devil's workshop.

Hey, some subtle New England humor for you. A stranger stops his car to ask a Yankee farmer for directions. "Does this road go to Bangor, Maine", he asked.  The NE Yankee looks the guy over and says, "Nope. It stays right heeyah".

Uhhyuh.

Jim, I prefer to recommend http://www.shedsonline.com.au/ though I'm not sure how long it would take the delivery truck to get to Fife from Oz.

Now who borrowed my Sledge-O-Matic?

Afternoon all !

Don, If you do go the "G" route make sure it is done during our so-called winter months. It is so Censored [censored] muggy rite now that you start sweating just stepping outside let alone trying to do anything. Welcome to South Florida West.

Gotta put the "G" toys away and start getting things together for the museum on friday. Thursday I go back to my daughters classroom to finish up some projects and get the room ready for the little sweethearts(?) who start on monday. Confused [%-)]

Here's the link, Don. I verbalized the utterly unthinkable over on OGR by saying that I hope MTH goes belly up. Locolawyer gave me a tongue lashing and quite an interesting disertation on how the American capitalism system works. Several toadies piled on but I didn't back down. And when I listed off a VERY brief list of Lionel innovations that were accomplished without MTH's competition, it was all over but the crying. Eventually they all roamed off, torches in hand to squabble about unions, if memory serves...

What was tha God awful noice I was hearing when I called.  If it was the above, send it back!!!!  Backwards day all day.  Went to get haircut, lady was 1 hour behind.  Went to get meds at CVS.  They and ins co had screwed that up and it was suppose to be ready yesterday.  Had to KICK A-- there and finally got it a few minutes ago.  Still was wrong and the had to rebill it.  Now to pack.  Early flight.  Wife was home today and cleaning and breaking everything and I had to mend.  Good thing is, left side soundboard is down.  Now to do the lift out section and the JD factory section [both small].  Then do backroom [will not take long].  Then rewire.  God night as too busy to revist.  Will be watching the Yanks from laptop.

Well finally, Cory (my brother) is out of the hospital, and in his apartment in westside Savannah. His swelling has gone down, and he can talk quite clearly. He was going to come here, but we have a feeling he didnt becuase he wouldnt want everybody to see him in this condition. He has a very nice girlfriend that will take care of him while he's there. Well, thanks for all the good thoughts and prayers, it is great that he healed so quickily, swelling and all. I was told by a very nice man, and you all know him on here, not to worry if anybody does not believe me. Well, I'm not bothered by it, though I do know some of you out there dont. Just to let you know, if you do think I'm lying, at least some of its the truth. That accident report on WSAVs website wasnt made up..............

Thanks.

My Father in Law is getting this Tuff Shed delivered and set up in a few weeks:

Except I think he ordered a double door instead of the one sided door pictured - it's a 6 foot wide door!  Plenty of room for his Cub Cadet.

Well, it was HOT in St. Louis again - 103 degrees this afternoon!  Had a little storm Sunday night and again about 60K people lost power in the City and surrounding areas.  Gov is concerned.  Did I say it was 103 today?

Grayson, I believe you.  Good news about your brother!

Chief, looking forward to catching up with you and the good Dr. John.  I doubt the rest of the gang will be there as I think Kim wants to have dinner with her mother.  I know I don't want to have the MIL and her husband along.  I am not sure if I will be able to get to BPS during the day.  Let's have Dr. John pick a place and then we can make arrangements.

Jim, While I don't particullarly like Mike W., or many of his products and corporate decisions, I have seen some good come from MTH.  I like some of their buildings and some rolling stock, but I am not a fan of PS2.  I will PM you as some background is interesting.

Hope everyone is blessed tonight.  Waiting on word of Dad getting home.  He was being signed out as I post here.

Hello to all.  It seems like months ago that I posted although I have been reading some posts from time to time.  This summer has been too busy for trains although the weather is so hot that the cool basement is rather inviting.  My son starts Law school at St. Louis U next week.  We spent most of the summer moving things from Michigan back to KC and then from KC to St. Louis.  A week from this Friday I will be heading to NW Ontario for my annual Canadian fishing trip.  The cooler weather and seemingly always possibility for rain there isreally going to be culture shock for me and my fishing cronies. I think I will clean some track and run some trains tomorrow.  My Carstens reefer project is on hold until I contact someone here who can give me some hands on advice for the decals.  Hope everything smooths out for those in distress.  Running trains helps.

John:  Soldering.  The coupler is riveted to the sheet metal truck frame.  The truck frame was broke in two, one side has the trucks, and the other side has the coupler.  Sorry I didn't take any photos.

Sir James:  Armada Fair???  We'll be there Saturday.  My sister lives in Armada.  We're bringing a smoked Brisket.  Tomorrow afternoon; Masters of the Chainsaw, and the Pedal Car Pulls.  Demolition Derby 7:00pm...Loads of fun!!!  Don't miss this.  This is serious derby stuff.  Our little ones are too small to sit still for that.  Following week same fair will be in Chelsea, 15-min west of Ann Arbor, just north of I-94.

Grayson:  Why would you not tell the truth about something like this?  Still praying for your brother.

Kurt, I've been informed tomorrows the day. Wife and two of the grandsons.

I saw the new Lionel Bigboy run with the legacy control system today, engine is great but the legacy system is really nice. The Bigboy is going to be released by the end of this month. the legacy is almost ready and is expected to be released in the fall but no date was given.

I also did a good deed today as my oldest son wanted one of those train sets I told you about but at $120.00 they are gone already so

I am going to let him have the one I bought. With one exception:it has a boxcar with post war catalog pictures on it.Mine. He agreed to take a different car. Of course he had no choice in the matter. I also found out his wife got a hefty raise so I told him the set price has gone up to his new income level.only fair, right.   Sir James

Evening folks,

Mickey - good to hear from you and that all is well.

Dennis - glad to hear your father is going home. Hope he continues to get better.

Jim - I am waiting to see the news tonight to see where we topped out today. On the freeway this afternoon the thermometer in my truck said outside air was 108.

John, Don - Horseshoe Curve Beer?

Don - Limo? What Limo?

Jim A - I think they shot your post down...

Regards, Roy
