Laz, I've got a deer story for you.  In my sons family, the youngest boy (12) got a 6 point buck in junior season this year.  The wife got a doe earlier this week and the 14 year old got a four point on Thursday.  While dad was helping to gut the buck for the 14 year old his cell phone fell out of his pocket right into the gut cavity which was full of blood (get the picture).  He decided the safe way out was a new cell phone, which cost him 299 (not your average cheapie)  Turned out to be a pretty expensive deer.  And to top it off, Dad was the only one to not get a deer.

Don, Finally getting around to wiring, you have been talking about this for weeks.  Getting just like us senior citizens. Laugh [(-D]  That engine house sounds impressive, don't forget the pics.

This morning after early church and breakfast we delivered a bag of Christmas goodies from the church to one of the shut-ins. A lady we have known for 50+ years. She sure has a positive attitude, one of those that makes you feel better after you visit her. We have two more to deliver this afternoon. One to the mother of my wife's best friend and the other to my HS Chemistry teacher, yes he still remembers me. Don't know if that is good or bad.

We were supposed to get some freezing rain this morning but the temps did not drop that low and it was just rain, which did not disappoint me at all.

WOW JOHN, quite a story.  At least YUZ got a good supply of venison.  I still have the worst time of the year to try and get a deer.  I like it though cause you just don't know if that darn gun will go off in the snow sleet or damp weather?  But brings lots o good stories.  Just like the one you told now.  The 14 yr. old or DAD won't forget that one.

Things have taken a strange turn amidst the LAUNDRY WAR.  I had another obscene pile of towels in the old Whirlpool dryer last evening, and just so happened to go downstairs when the basement was starting to fill up with smokeShock [:O]  (hadn't quite got to the smoke detectors yet).  The lint screen was black, the towels had a fine coat of soot on them, and there was some browning on the inside blower port.  (mind you, the laundry area is in the Northeast corner of the basement/and the CONNELLSVILLE SUBDIVISION is nearby in the Southeast portion of the basementShock [:O]Shock [:O])  WELL HELL'S BELLS!  When was the last time you've heard of the battlefield giving way beneath the armies?  So off to SEARS for a new dryer this morning.

Fife you should take the back off your dryer about every 3-6 months and clean all venting back there especially where the blower motor is they build up with lint and can catch fire they make brushes for it but they do about 75% job where taking all apart does better.

Morning All -

Sounds like a good weekend for all, GREAT!

Started actual wiring yesterday, working the engine yard first.  So I have independent control of the engines sitting there.  Going, OK.  Needed to get engine house I bought a year ago situated for proper track placement.  Have two Kober kits that measure 29".  Decided to bash them so that the 31" guys will fit.  BB & Cab Fwd. That became a family project while watching a couple of movies last night.  That was great fun.

Going to get that in position, finalize track location and wire the yard.  So off to church, breakfast.  Then back.  Need to get train under Christmas tree as well.  Busy day check in tonight.  Hopefully with a pic of the Loooong engine house.

Mornin' All from a soggy and cold SoCal, even a little frost on the pumpkin this morning. We got some much needed rain, a few little micro-bursts, but over all not to bad. Even the local mountains are waking-up to about 8" of snohizo on the ground. Approve [^]

The grandson spent friday nite with us, so he and grampa did a lot of train running and he spent a lot of time with fingers on the whistle buttons.Laugh [(-D]

When we started them all the smoke units were off but at his request, not exactly those words, gramps had to turn them on. I think his favorite is the MTH AT&SF 4-6-0, lots 'n' lots of smoke.

Buckeye, He loves that "Little Toy Trains" link on YouTube. He sat in my lap and after watching that about 12 times in a row I was FINALLY able to turnoff the computer.

He is becoming a bigger train nut then his grampa. Approve [^]

Another cold and yucky day. Meeting friends John and Leah for lunch at 1 and then back to their house for cake I guess for a birthday party. Was going to work on the basement, but probably won't now. Oh well, plenty of time for that I guess.  Will run by Lowes as I got a $10 starter card from somewhere if you spend $25 or more on a project.  Time to load up on lightbulbs!

Fifedog, that dryer event is pretty scary!  Glad no damage to the house, easier to replace a dryer than a house or family!  I run the laundry at our house (I wash and dry and they all hang the clothes up, or at least they are supposed to) and always clean that lint screen on every load.

Sir James, very sorry to hear about your aunt, hope they can get her fixed up again?  My friend Jeff's wife just started chemo.  Seems like just a lot of illness going around now!  Earthquakes too!?  Prayers for all!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Good Morning Chief, Good Morning All,     Temp is 28,expecting s##w,sleet and freezing rain,it has not arrived yet.If it has to be I would prefer it gets and goes before dark as its easier to watch over everything but I don't think it's going to happen that way. Details tomorrow.

No plans for today so looks like trains may run. Have a safe sunday,    Sir James

WES and Fife,

I may forget the HO/On30 and N loop and have what few accessories I have on the innermost 0-31 loop, I have a k-line operating yard tower , a k-line fueling station, a barrel loader(k-line) and a manule op lionel barrel loader. I would like to get the lionel mounty rescue and the k-line man fishing of of bridge pier. It will be a work in progress with the main idea of getting some trains up and running and no serious attempt at scenery that way both my "toy like" and more scale looking trains will be equally at home.

I knew you wouldn't like it!  I wanted to try this to see how I liked it.  I wanted to get more trains running independantly and at the same time.  The dog bones without room for a passing siding were limiting.  I did come up with a plan, but then I needed 2 more swithes and even more track. I'll play with this one for a while and see what happens.  Jack seems to like it better.  He had more moving things to point at...

It's a cloudy 34 degrees. Going up to 46 today with maybe a little rain. The snow has almost all melted.

Today is an easy day. I have a few chores to do and then, back to the train room for some scenery work. Have to fix a few things and finish the lub on an engine. Not much else going on.

Dining Car has arrived and it's time for breakfast. Later.

Y'all have a great Sunday.

Warm here in the N.C. mountains AT 7:15 this Sunday  morning--44F.

No one hereabouts had a clue that an earthquake had occurred in Western N.C.  We know that they do happen occasionally because when you go away and come back, stuff has moved about on the shelves.

Geologists have long known of the "Grandfather Fault" which runs through the Elk River Valley a few hundred feet down below my house. We had to shut down an 800' deep community well near the fault because EPA said it was subject to pollution in the future---not actually polluted, but "subject to it". I am kinda bumed today, the lady nextdoor lost her house and had to get out today so now there is an empty house next to moms house.....times are getting tough.

Was at my house and laid out some tracks to see what I can actualy get away with made a lot of compermises opting to go with nested loops of track no switches but I have wide curves and a long strait stretch, and this leaves me room for my weight bench a couch and some display shelves on the wall. The outermost loop is 80" G gauge track will have to add a striaght section at each end of loop to clear the next loop which will be 0-72 then a S gauge 42" loop and then an 0-31 loop, an HO/0n30 loop and if i decide to keep my n-scale set maybe a loop of N. Scenery will be limited and each loop will have its own tier so I can stillhave a mountian scenery.

Good evening,

Typical Winter day here, cloudy and cool.  Not sure what tomorrow will bring, precip may be either rain or snow or a mixture of both with some sleet thrown in for good measure.  Worked on the dollhouse this morning, now ready for roof shingles.  Went to a Christmas party at FIL's PC facility.  Very nice turnout of friends and family.  Three youngest granddaughters really hit the cookies hard.  Actually ran some trains for about an hour.  As Laz would say, no pileups!  Oh I got my MTH galloping goose TCA 2007 convention engine yesterday. Need to unpack and run it & take a picture.

Sounds like the war of the undies is still going on in the Fifedog household. Laugh [(-D]

Oh, and I already singed the credit card at the jewelry store. Bow [bow]

Good Evening All

Cold this evenng here on the East End of Long Island, but I LOVE cold weather, and can't wait for it to be colder (and snowier).

Little mishap this week. I have my layout on the 2nd floor of our barn, so dusting is a regular occurance.
HOWEVER my shop vac went wild and the exhaust spewed out dust that coated the layout.
So Sunday will find me using a regular vacum and lots of Endust to clean up the mess.

Got the first of 3 Irvington Cars that I won on ebay today, can't wait to pair the set with my MPC 783 Hudson.

Good evening everyone.  Long day, did rounds this morning and then had to work on the yard.  Trimmed the hedges, removed old bedding material, cut a couple of trees up, burned them and the hedge clippings and old pine straw.  Then I had to use the sweeper with the tractor to pick up and bale new long leaf pine straw to put back in beds.  Looks good, but took all day.  I am wooped!  Took some ultram and going to bed.  Y'all have a good night.

Hey PhilaKnight, how are things at home?  Sounds like a nice layout.

Wife had to go pick up basketball uniforms.  Went to Michaels and Walmart, but spent too much time shopping.  Then out to dinner at Longhorn Steakhouse (had a gift card for $40).  Full of steak, really good ribeye cooked medium, with steamed veg.  Dinner [dinner]

Picked up some "snow" blanket stuff for the layout.  They had some cool Lemax Christmas biuldings on display, but mostly all gone.  I really liked the nativity, but they were all out of them.  Oh well, hope to run trains in a little bit, but doing laundry...  We'll see.  This whole day has just sort of flown away from me Confused [%-)]

Sir James, we have some chocolate icecream we bought for company that was left over last night, so come on over!

Chief Thumbs Up [tup] Sounds like a happy kid to me!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Hello everyone,

Haven't been on in awhile, They have been training us all week long, but the good news is they gave us the weekends off.

I got the tree up already and built a small 4x6 layout under it. Nothing fancy just a loop and a tunnel with the tree in the middle with some houses around it.

Well hope everyone has a good holiday.

Just back from a delivery.  One 4X6 layout delivered to the little kid.  Realtrax screwed down and lighted lockon.  Took him a spare CW80.  Gave him a Pensy Flier engine and tender.  Also gave him an operating N&W hopper and a caboose.  Big bottle of smoke fluid.  When I left, it was in his Granddad's shop running and smoking.  He was pressing the whistle button and smiling.  He had to show me the tublar 027 track I gave him.  It is in living room running around his Granddad's recliner and the little cheap Lionel and tender fly around it.  So now he is really into the trains.
