Good morning from a sunny and warm Chicago where we got a few thunderstorms through yesterday that broke the big heat. Lost power at home for a few hours for the first time in years. Fortunately, I was out at a local pizza joint for a 'church meeting' during that time.

That's quite a stringline, Buckeye.

Jim A, you sure take great photos of your work too.

Chief, when that teen is done with your second story windows, send him over... I have a few to paint too.

Laz, we primarily use leeches on a real sharp hook and jig about 1 foot from the bottom and between the rocks.

Got unpacked, Got caught up at the office, now to get ready for a show this weekend.  THEN back to work on the train layout.  WAHOO!!!  Need to do some followup with MTH on some parts for a brewery, and to see if I can find a 1666 somewhere.  A kind gentleman has been holding it for me.  And get that layout going again.  Nothing in the way now.  Finally !!!

Glad to see Zeke is doing better,

BUCKEYE we used the same technique on the ST. Lawerence.  When they ran out used night crawlers.  Great catch.

Nick - That looks fantastic.  How long does it take for the planning/approval process.  Have you started planning the layout yet?  You may end up starting up a club with a room that size!  Great job !!!!!

Nick,

If you didn't mind not having a roof. there's enough lumber there to start your layout table.

Afternoon, Y'all!

Had a rough night as far as sleep goes.  Have lots to tackle over the next few days.  I am still on call, so hopefully I will get the chance.  I have a friend coming down to do some shooting next month and need to get some serious work on the layout done.

Brent, do yourself a favor and put in the light switches with the slide dimmer next to the switch that will allow you to lower the light for those "late night trips to the restroom".  We put them in the master bath and the bathroom in the hallway on the main level.  This way, you don't go blind at 2am.

Don, got a 1666, shure is a nice looking locomotive.  It does need some lube, but I will wait till I get the rest of the wiring done.  Anyway, good luck on your search.

Dennis

A bit cloudy to day and some sprinkles. It's a good thing. Gonna be about 93 today.

Nick - great progress and who is that little gray dude guarding the big doorway?

Don - great to hear you are getting backto the layout construction!

John (CSX) - got your super duper top secret communication! Keep up the good work! Mum's the word here! "Loose lips sink ships!"

Have a great day all!

Afternoon All !!!

Haven't been posting much of late, although I have tried to visit regularly in an attempt to keep up with what's happening. That's a tuff job in itself. Black Eye [B)]

Been busy with the "G" set-up, they are worse than "O". Dead [xx(] Would much rather be moving around plastic or styrofoam rocks instead of the real things. Got some rail clamps on order so I can get the track down and ballasted, unfortunately the top of the retaining wall isn't exactly level so the ballast (chicken grit) will have to be used for leveling and glued down.

Well coffee break is over, back to the quarry. Big Smile [:D]

Take care all and play safe.

P.S. As you can see it appears as if there is a bit of a graffiti problem. Laugh [(-D]

Don, Planning and approval took around 6 months. It can be a real pain over here but we were surprised how smoothly the process went. Only real stipulations were that the roof tile matched that of the existing house. It was also prefered that the two walls that are seen be Bradstone (artifical stone) again to match the existing house. Building Regulations (I think what you guys call "Code" (Extream Makeover has reached our shoresSmile [:)])) Chap has to come and inspect at certain points during the build. Gamesroom (not including garage)area is around 54 square meters.

Have started planning with my son. We are going with a 16" X 8" layout as a manageable size. Have to fit in the FIL's pool table and Jukebox. Busy playing around with RR track. Layout plan is similar to the TM fastrack DVD plan at the moment. 072 loop with a 060 inside. Though we may add a extension for a turntable. RR track will make ordering the correct track easier as I can't just pop out to the local stockestSad [:(]

Good afternoon all,

Nick, How big is that building & how much will be layout.  It looks very nice.

Doug, That is a nice outdoor layout.  When you get done working and have the time give us a rundown on the track plan and more pictures.

Chief, How is the garden coming?  We are getting tons of Zucchini, yellow squash, peppers, hot and mild & eggplant.  We are between crops of tomatoes.  The early are in a lull and the main crop hasn't started yet.

Friend and I put up track lighting in the Church Library this morning. Older folk, older than I which makes them really old, were complaining that they could not read the book titles.

Working on 50th Class reunion year book which will have the graduation picture and a current picture + a small bio of the last 50 years. Try condensing 50 years into a paragraph sometime. We got 82 responses out of 103, not bad when you consider most of the others are deceased.

Take care and stay out of the heat if you can

John, Thanks very much. Its 15 Meters long by 6 Meters wide ( Gamesroom 9 Meters long). Layout will be around 16" x 8" to be manageable. Bare in mind that all power we need has to be provided by 110V 60Hz inverter(s) and those inverter(s) powered by 230V to 13.8V power supplies. Also have to fit in a pool table and Jukebox.

Evening all.  Getting rain.  Not tons but rain.  For us, all helps.  Maybe more tomorrow.  Some "bad news" is gone, don't ask why?

John F.  Squash and Zucs are slowing down.  Have been keeping them watered but 98 degrees and dry times zapped a lot of them yesterday.  Cucs are really coming in.  Early tomatoes are still coming and the main crop is starting.

TV time and popcorn time.

Laugh, Love, and Hope...Doug, I sure hope that train doesn't do a swan dive off that ledge!

I need some help...My wonderful wife has been diagnosed with a Gall Bladder disease or heartburn, and has been on the prilosec wagon.

Bloodwork is negative, and we are waiting for the untrasound results.  Can you recommend some 'credible' medical site(s) so we can review the symptoms?

Thanks,

Kurt,
My wife said you should check out http://www.nih.gov goto the research tab and type in what you are looking for.  Google searches aren't recommended because you may end up getting sites that are not credible.  She's a pharmacuetical geek... She also wants me to let you all know she is now a PhD... yes she's piled higher and deeper.  Laugh [(-D]

Kurt - prayers for your wife!  My wife went through this about 11 years ago and once they took the gallbladder out, she was fine.  Doctor said it was probably caused by her going on a well known diet at that time.  This is a website I use at work:

http://www.merck.com/mmpe/sec03/ch030/ch030a.html?qt=gallbladder&alt=sh

http://www.merck.com/mmpe/sec03/ch030/ch030c.html

Got my replacement drill I bought on ebay - works great and still had temporary stickers on grip.  Need to get to the new motor that Jeff sent me.  Also, figured out I wired 2 light switches wrong on a 4-way switch in the basement, so need to get to that.  Not tonight though - too tired!  Popcorn time - sounds good to me!  John, come on over as soon as possible - I'll try and keep some for you.

PS - got my baby sister a Presto Pizzaz for a wedding shower -- looks very cool.  It cooks a frozen or fresh made pizza on a turn table under a heater element.  Kinda looks like a hot air popper.  Any of you guys tried one of these?  Target has on sale for like 1/3 off and would get one for me if they are good.

Dougdagrump - that looks great!  When I get time to terrace my back yard, I'll call you up for tips!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
