Good morning from hot & humid south Florida.
Zeke, sorry to hear about your new friend passing away! Hopefully you made his day brighter for a while and got some model train information.
Jaabat, what kind of Alco's are you talking about as Greenberg's Guide lists three possibles for those numbers? Sorry to hear that you are having problem similar to mine, local hobby shop closing.
Did some shelf re-arranging yesterday, working on long term plan to put a loop of 027 track near the ceiling with a train running around on it. The room is 13 feet 10 inch long by 11 feet 6 inch wide, so I will need 608 inches of track, or about 18-027 straights and 5-027 curves.
Working on an SD-45 I bought from Choo Choo auctions, runs great but needs some cosmetic work, number boards fell out of cab.

Sounded like he was quite a nice guy. Check in on his widow if you can. Got my $31.02 check from the county for jury duty. Hmmm, what can I spend it on as a sort of 'down-payment' - that Ameritrains tank set looks good. Maybe three extra sets of trolley poles. I might find a CSL Corgi Birney. Or the LA Western Hobbycraft trolley. Any ideas?
Doug, Don't be impulsive and spend check all in one place. Reminds me of the last time I was on jury duty, think I spent more on lunch then it paid.
Zeke, Sorry to hear about your new friend.
Has everyone checked out the thread with pics of a lot of us?

I missed this... There was a trainshow within commuting distance and you didn't mention it! I'm so disappointed! -------------Stopped by Purkey's last night to pick up the MTH Firehouse... put it in the foyer and when the wife got home she says:'Mr. Leister what is this?''Your anniversary present.''Oh! So now you think that if you buy something train related that I like you can buy it?''Works for me.'She did like it a lot and was happy I was able to get my hands on one for a great price. Also picked up my new Lionel Christmas passenger cars (they were due in August, but got here in June) What's with that? They were EARLY with a release? Also got a Western Maryland RoundTop Boxcar with generator - wonder what is going to pull that! He also had some grey WM hopper cars - those will be purchased next week or the week after. Then nothing till the October York Show (except building supplies and track).Buckeye and RT - missed the weekend - Happy Anniversary to you both!Zeke - Sorry to hear about Charles. Losing a friend is always rough, but you made his last days meaningful. Not many people would go to the lengths you did for him to see his kids. One day they will realize what you did for them. His wife certainly knows.--------Getting some projects checked off my list! Dining Room is painted, Living Room is painted, switches and outlets replaced in Dining Room, switches replaced in Kitchen, Dining Room chandalier replaced, breakfast area light replaced, kitchen island light removed (found they didn't use a ceiling box to hang the light so I have to cut a hole and install a box tonight), replaced the four exterior lights. So the project list is getting shorter! Also I had a delivery on Friday... a pleasant fellow named Gene dropped off my new John Deere X300 riding mower! I have yet to mow anything with it though. I have moved it from one garage stall to the other though! That was fun... I hit the reverse pedal instead of the forward pedal, caught it in time before I slammed into the shelving... that would have been bad... shelves are where all the new house lights are being stored till they are installed! Would have been a mess! LOL! Maybe Chief can come up and show me how to run this thing without killing myself! LOL!!!!
Morning all
Chief, You sure that pile of stone you found is not a pile of grits someone tried to hide instead of eat.
Zeke, sorry about your new friend. Sadly that happens after a fall more than many people realize.

ZEKE sorry for your loss.

I grew up in New Baltimore, and moved to Ann Arbor after school. I sure miss the east side and the water.
Looks like I need to make more trips out that way. I keep looking into shops on the internet, and P&D keeps comming up.
It's nice to see some more people from Michigan on the forum.

Good morning all,
It is another hot and humid day in SE Indiana with a good chance of rain thru out the day and temps in the high 80s. I hope the lightning and thunder hold off so we can get the game in tonight. Playing in the rain would probably feel good in this weather. Zeke, sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and his family.
It was a busy night between going to the YMCA to lift weights and watching a tape of the US-Brazil national teams' soccer match. A big event coming up is US vs. Norway on July 14th. Hopefully, Abby, Kristine and the rest of the ladies will be ready for the "Vikings". I see where the dining car arrived early at "Points East", and I hope it enjoyed the regular fare. I hope everyone has a good day.
Yours truly,
Mike C. from Indiana
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a sunny 66 degrees. Going up to a hot 90, again today. This ground is really dry. May get a rain shower tonite.
Zeke...Sorry to hear of your loss of Charles.
Buckeye...Happy Anniversary
Today, is the ever popular, grocery shopping day. A trip to Cambridge, and lots of fun. Gas prices are staying around $2.79 a gallon. It may go up with the 4th of July traffic. That's a great reason.
Maybe, later, I will run trains in the cool basement. It was nice yesterday. Good place to be in the hot afternoon.
Dining Car is here and ready for breakfast. Later.
Y'all have a great Wednesday.
Chuck
Good morning from New England.
Last night I finally got around to numbering the cab on my K-Line Pacific. She's a right fine looking lady! Me and the kids hung our new train shelves on the wall last night. I sure hope those screws will hold!
Going to New Hampshire tonight to see and possibly purchase pieces of a collection for sale. Post war and modern. Should be interesting.
Some sad news as well. The LHS in my town is closing up for good in August. This little shop has all the regular items, but also a lot of the unusual and small items you may not know you need until you see them. I've bought a lot of post war items from this store at give away prices. There is a Lionel 215/212 with all the cars, track and transformer there now waiting for me to make up my mind...I'm really going to miss that store, which was always a sort of clubhouse for me.

Morning to All. been a few days since I posted although I have been keeping up , sort of.
Zeke - So sorry to hear about Charles. He is surely in a better place without all of the pain and suffering. You can be proud that you insisted his children visit.
Jim F - can't wait to see the final layout plans.
Roy, Nick and John Baker - hope the rains subside.
Doug and Roy - Vista sounds like so much fun. Have I told you lately how much I hate Windoze... Give me a Mac any day. Now if I could only convince the IT department at work... of course, Windoze gives them job security.
Chief - eatin 'maters from your garden - gotta be a good. I can't wait for ours, but it will be a while we are just getting buds on the plants. We keep watering them because the rain has been missing us here.
Fife - we want to see pics of the train show loot.
LAZ - sounds like your project is well on the way. I feel the same way you do about plumbing. Eveytime I try to solder a water pipe I wind up with a leak or a burned finger
Jaabat - on line from home??? The last of the Luddite's finally gives in.
Have a great day,
Mitch

Zeke-I'll keep Charles, his friends and family and you in my prayers. I think you made his last days special by entering into his life.
May God bless all
Zeke - Really Sorry to hear of Charles Passing !!!
Deepest Condolences, Hope his wife can handle it. Through all this Just think How Happy YOU made his last hours. If it wouldn't have been for you, he would not have had the opportunity to see his children. They will probably never realize how much gratitude they owe you for insisting they visit. Take Care and God Bless
Don
Hi guys hope all is well with you....
Im retreating to a cave for awhile.
charles passed away today...........................
Hi all, Thanks for the kind thoughts. Luckly although we live near the fens we have not had the flooding that the Sheffield area has suffered "up north". A least the Dam that was having structual problems has been stabilised.
It did not rain yesterday here and todays forecast show sunny spells although remaining cloudy, no rain again.
34 roof truses arrived yesterday now just waiting on a delivery of Bradstone.
Have a good one
Nick
Good evening,
Roy, The more you tell us about Vista, the more I love XP.
Jim, Glad to see you are making use of TCA Exchange.
There were three things I wanted to comment on, but I have forgotten #3.
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Just a quick stop by, was another long day. One case, but perhaps the biggest type case one can do. Anyway, Pt is OK and that's what counts. I got home in time to eat dinner and watch Bourne Identity before going to sleep. Wife is having fun at the beach. I need to get some train time in, but she left me with a list of "honey do's". Oh well. Hope y'all have a great night.

Evening all. One of my favoite movies is on, Absolute Power. Clint Eastwood [burglar] witnesses President kill lady [Pres's girlfriend]. Busy day. Powerline mowers are at lease. Watered some of Pam's flowers. Sprayed grass in path to pond. Funny. Have to water flowers and veggies but grass in rocky soil in hot sun grows. Rain all around but none in Roseyville. Popcorn time {dinner was microwaved squash cooked last night and tomato sandwiches [tomatoes from garden ]}.
Glad you survived the weekend with Yogi Sir James I.
Where are you located in Michigan, and what is your favorite train store?
So Far the best I've found out my way is in Dexter, but I forget the name. The closest to me is Riders, and their selection is minimal, and everything is special oder.
