doug, you may try one of the "privacy screens" that 3M put out. They keep others from seeing your screen from an angle and also cut the glare a bit. I don't believe they are too expensive. I would guess that Staples, Office Depot, etc. would have them.
As for Pam being so great, I agree, but then again, aren't all of our wives for putting up with us? I know mine is.

Glad to see you are back to a "normal" routine, Doug. When your eye heals, you will be able to see how badly I botched that box car. It makes me wonder how bad the NH car will turn out.

Rich, I was at the end, exit 18 to either Rt.80 or 46. And Happy Anniversary!
Lisa, in case I can't get back, Happy anniversary of your 29th birthday!
Roy, I understand about the keeping people from playing firefighter. One side note, they caught a guy with fire gear on in the WTC site after 9/11 who was stealing watches and jewelry from a store in one of the destroyed buildings. He was NOT a firefighter, but had the gear. They quietly escorted him to a police station and a little justice was served.
Hope everyone is blessed today.

Grandpa Greg-Congrats!!!!! I'm sure you will have a great time with your grandson
Lisa- You said "special day" Birthday? if so
Doug-Keep an eye on the eye!
Roy-Autozone will load test the alternator but you said it was still under warrenty, good luck with the dealer. So many times service shops are into "keep replacing parts till we find the one that makes things work" instead of troubleshooting and finding the malfunction. Check all or have the shop check all the grounds. The modern electronics are very sensitive to grounding issues. Disconnect polish with a dremel brush and reconnect with dielectric grease.
Off today, several chores planned. May be watching grandkids later. Going to ordeer parts from Portlines, and continued ground prep for the garage addition.
God bless
Hey!!!
Had an "eventful" weekend, went to see Superbad and got carded AFTER we got seated...seems that some "underagers" got in and some without tickets..first time I ever got carded at the movies...Flick was humorous, but I would have waited for the DVD....
Went to the LHS Saturday, I wasn't supposed to "work" but went anyway. Mounted cameras on a UP HO (I think it was a SD somethin..) and a (Chief, are you ready...)Lionel SD90 TMCC Scale NS. A beautiful Lionel. I LOVE IT but the price...I'll wait on it. The cameras work great, just need to get a better antenna. I gave my "boss" a copy of the FEC picture I took and the DVD Polar Express. He's never seen it, so I got him a copy. Him & his wife just got a new DVD player. Good timing!
My 18th anniversary was yesterday and my bride gave me a $100 certificate for trains at the LHS!!! Surprise!! And no one said a word...I guess I can finish getting the rest of my Polar Express cars and set!!
My 15 y/o starts her first day of High School today. Got her on the bus at 6:30, then I got to work by 7. Can't wait to hear the stories...
High of 95 today high humidity too...
PS On the MegaSteam..I have a video of the CSX in West Trenton(NJ) with some shots of the Tropicana train. Lots of freight. I think it was $5, well worth it!! and the Fluid is great. I need to order more (BTW JT lives in the next town from where I used to live in NJ, so he must be a great guy!! Dennis..Exit 8 on the NJTP)

Good Morning from the south, of michigan.
61 and wounderful pouring down rain. No complaints, waited two months for a good rain. Oldest son picked up the train set I bought, kind of glad he took it as the 12 year old likes them. I am taking the wife to Drs. this morning as she moved to a new location and wife doesn't want to look for it alone. No problems known just routine check.I'll drop by later to check on the posts.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a cloudy 65 degrees. Had some nasty thunderstorms this morning. Looks like it is clearing up now. Sun is coming thru. Going up to 75 today, with a chance of more rain later.
Today, I have a few errands to run, locally and then the usual things around the house. Gas is hanging at about $2.78 a gallon with no relief in sight. Grass is starting to grow faster. I will be mowing between rainstorms this week. That's a lot of fun.
NASCAR race today. Got rained out yesterday. Go # 20.
Here comes the Dining Car. Breakfast is ready. Later.
Y'all have a great Monday.
Good morning all,
Either the forum is on the fritz or I am the early bird this morning. Still recovering from the weekend. Was hoping I could sleep in on the way to work, but the carpooler was off sick today. Not much going on today, and hopefully it will be a quiet day at work. Just the regular fare on the dining car for "Points East". I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Yawn - up late and these grounds have been "wet down" a few too many times today. Too tired to make new, though. Have to try Captain Binky's Blend. Watching Thunder Alley with Annette and Fabian (no Frankie!) - it's a little racy for the kids!
Hey John S - just saw that Megasteam website has videos, including a $5 video of CSX train(s) - make a nice stocking stuffer for You Know Who
Chief must be tired, has posted tonight.
Got soundboard cut and shaped for layout. Used 4 sheets, only put a single layer down. Ironically need about 3 more sq feet to finish. I will check and see if they (Lowes) has any partial or broken sheets. Hate to buy a full sheet for such a small area. I don't like throwing stuff away. But will probably end up doing so. Thanks to the Chiefs handy dandy directions:
My rules for Celetex Soundstop:
Celetex Soundstop is light weight. Is dusty but not bad after it is handled some. Can be cut with utility knife [I have cut it with my lockblade knife]. Saw with fine tooth saw [I used jig saw instead of table saw as saw easy]. Turn sheet upside down from side you want up [due to ragged edges]. Seal with latex paint and it will get harder and no dust. I used the "printed label" side up. Will hold deck screws. Going to use small drywall screws for track. Do not paint as I did before installing. Paint makes it "curl" up some. Unpainted, will flatten [humidity wiil make it curl slightly] and glue down easier [half of my sheets are unpainted and work better]. Put screws into only the sheets of Soundstop [not into the hard wood below]. Paint will make a difference once installed. I highly recommend this product. Solid but not too hard. $9 to $10 a sheet.
Other than working on that all day, nothing goin on here.

Got about 5 minutes of rain here with lots of thunder, but it's long gone now. Hope we get more rain through this week!
Lisa - ditto! Glad to hear your hubby is doing well. At the wedding I caught up with my sister and BiL who moved to Charlotte. They really like it -- except for the Palmetto Bugs!!! LOL
John S, when you get off work, there are some frozen strawberry shortcake deserts (weightwatchers) in the freezer -- they are actually very good! None for Chewy, but you know where those bacon treats are don't you? TTFN!
Thanks Dennis and Kurt - 2 votes for them to check the alternator - I will point that out when I talk to them in the am! I will also make sure they load test the battery.
Lisa - good to hear your husband is doing better.
Greg M - congrats!
Dennis - a friend of mine in Nashville bought a fire pumper truck from his volunteer department (he has served for many many years). He had to get some sort of clearance from Homeland Security (I think) in order to buy the truck. Apparently they do not want someone to be able to cause havoc by masquerading as firemen.
Regards, Roy
GregM, Congratulations! Glad to hear everyone is doing well. As Chief said, spoil him and when he cries, etc., hand him back.
Roy, A few things, I doubt it is the alternator, but I have seen diodes go bad with heat, I doubt that it would work some times and not others, besides, the battery still shows full charge. Try the battery with a load on to see if the alternator keeps up. From what you have described, I would place my bets on a computer module. Little square thing probably mounted to the firewall on the engine side...I believe up on the drivers side of the car. They are not particularly expensive, but control the whole works and can create havoc when they don't work right. The other thing would be the connections to the battery leads (or further down the line). If a lead is loose, or gets loose when hot, it could cause the trouble you noticed.
Chief, hope you get home safe and sound. Also hope you got a little bit of the rain.
Spankybird, nice Ahrens Fox on that flat car. I had thought about getting one, but am waiting till they come out with a white one. The fire department I was on had one that they sold to a volunteer department for $1.00. They take great care of it and it can outpump many modern engines.
Great day at church. Wife stayed home with the kids as they were all a little under the weather from travelling, etc. I start call first thing in the morning, so train time may be minimal this week.
God Bless,
Dennis
Good evening all,
It was hot and humid again in SE Indiana and still no rain. Up north they are getting some, but not down here. I see where the Michigan NASCAR race was rained out. We spent the weekend with the older daughter, her husband and their two kids at our place. Grandkids are nice, but they do wear you out. I had bacon and biscuits today for breakfast. I hope everyone has a good day.
Hi everyone!
RT -just been reading and observing. Still very hot and dry around here. Grass goes crunch - crunch so no mowing. Garden has dried up except for a few pepper plants that I'm keeping watered and the tomatoes are about all gone.
Hubby's hip is fine, the gout in his foot is greatly improved and he is ready to go back to work - we go back to the Dr on Wednesday and he should release him. The "weekly special" for him last week was a root canal! Don't think I'm ever going to get him straightened out. However - Deer season is rapidly approaching (about 3 weeks away for Bow season) so he has a big incentive. Told him he could only hunt off the ground - NO CLIMBING TREES this year or he would be the one getting SHOT!!
Working a little on the layout - been too hot in the garage to do much. Also, need to get myself back to work - been slack on the job search since I needed to be at home to look after David and everything around here. Need train money and Christmas is quickly approaching.
Hope everyone has a great week!
