Evening all!

It's time for this guy to take a little well deserved R&R.  I'll be away from the computer for 2 weeks.  While the trains will remain silent for awhile I hope to get in lots of planning time on the new layout.  That should give me plenty of inspiration for finishing the attic once I return.

Good hunting to everyone attending York.  See y'all real soon!

Hi Guys,

York was nice today, crowd a little light, but that made it very pleasant walking around.  It will probably get fuller tomorrow.  The vendor stocks were also a little lighter, I think this is a sign that all of the overstock built up over the past few years is finally being sold off.

Best buy I saw today was K-line die cast hopper cars with coal cars at 20.00 each.

Another good buy was the K-line Suburban 4-6-6 tank engines at 500 with TMCC.

Most of the current items were not greatly discounted.

Don & I started out together about noon and joined up with Roy about midafternoon.  The three of us were joined by a friend of Roy's and we all had dinner at the Star-light diner in York.  It was a great day.

Atlas handed out catalogs, but haven't had a chance to take a look at it.

Take care,

Glad Julia did well!  She is a real doll.  My grandson would fall in love with her in a heartbeat!

Thanks for missing me!Smile [:)]

Lisa

Lisa,

I've also been having trouble with my eyes of late. They always seem to be red and often there is a slightly painful, burning sensation. My doctor gave me some erythromycin ointment, and it helped some. But now I'm thinking it might be an allergy like yours. When I was a kid, I had terrible allergies - all the same ones you listed as having, but for the most part, as an adult, they seem to have subsided. Maybe now that I'm an old buck, they are returning.

Keep us posted on your layout.

Good morning all,

It is a beautiful sunny day in SE Indiana with temps in the high 60s today.  Today is my last day at my current job.  I have most of everything packed and done, just a few odds and ends.  There are some meetings this afternoon which I may or may not go to.

I did go to the YMCA for weights and treadmill last night.  It sounds as if people who went to York are having a good time.  Welcome, zeke, to the coffeepot!  The title says it all, "Here we gather as friends with trains."  The dining car is headed to "Points East".  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It's a sunny 40 degrees. Going up to 70, today with sunshine. This is a good start to a day

Today, I am going to work outside. Have grass to be mowed and some trimming to do. I will make a whole day of it. The buds on the trees are getting bigger. Wish the cherry tree would get flowers back. Cold weather was not good to them. I need to get ready to plant a small garden. Last year's came out pretty good.

Dining Car has arrived for breaakfast. I wonder if " points west " has boarded yet ??  Yep, he did.

Y'all have a great Friday.

Good Friday Morning All,

Currently, it's a clear 43 degrees looking for the mid 70's by early afternoon.  May have some rain tomorrow.  Hope to finish the lower end of the horseshoe bench tomorrow/Sunday.

Hope everyone is enjoying York.  I think I'll go to my LHS at lunch.  I know it's not the same...but it's a good way to spend lunch.

Morning Y'all,

Wish I could be up there with all the Yorkies, but alas, some of us have to stay back and hold down the fort.  Please do post reports from the front lines.  Build up anticipation for us for a future visit.

Zeke, email an address for me to send that Greenberg's book, or, if you have a local hobby shop near by, they may have one.  These are perhaps the best available books with diagrams and information for servicing your trains.

My wife has told me I don't need any more trains for awhileDisapprove [V]  Space has been an issue.  I have my son's closet full and the one free wall in the train room is loaded.  Until I get the layout completely wired and scenery done, I suppose I should refrain from filling the house.

Well, I must get get back to the kids.  Wife is actually working today and so I get to play Mr. Mom for a little while I get ready to head in for the afternoon cases.  I never did get to work on the tractor, so I gues either tonight, or tomorrow.   I have to take the car in for the MB car clinic.  I hope I will have some time to get trains in the schedule.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Good morning from a sunny and warming Chicago where my allergies mysteriously disappear every time I commute 46 miles into the city. Must be the lack of greenery and an overabundance of concrete and steel but I love the effect. So Lisa and everyone, c'mon up to the city. We got plenty of room.

I got the big Williams catalog the other day - their usual nice stuff. I also saw the link to the Atlas O catalog - their Industrial Rail line looks wonderful - especially the trolleys. Supposed to be a beautiful weekend here!

Morning all

Beautiful in Southern Ohio!  Sunny and in the 50's already.  I am off till Monday and start dayshift.

I hope everyones alergies get under control.  With everything blooming I can see why they are acting up.  Our daughters and my wife have them but I've been blessed by not being affected.  Only in the past few years has even poison ivy done anything.

Sounds like York is turning out good for those who are going.  Be careful travelling.  Going to Cincinnatti for my bride's post op check from her carpel tunnel surgury.  She is diabetic so healing is slow and one of the incisions is acting up.  While in Cincy we'll hook up with our youngest who lives there for dinner.  I wonder who will paySmile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Well classes start again Saturday.  Glad in a way, getting to see the other guys and all, but not looking forward to the study!  Already put in hours of pre-reading before the class startsDisapprove [V]

Need to go.  Take care and God bless

Evening Boys (and Miss Lisa). Yesterday did not start out as planned. Hoped to work on the computer for a few hours and then head to York when the meet opened at Noon. Got a call at 6:20 AM from my Assistant Pprincipal. One of my teachers had just called to say that her 6 yo grandson had died while running in a Fun Run on Wednesday night. The little guy had been running this particular fun run race since he was 3. His Mom was running with him and he told her he was having trouble breathing. They stopped right away and he collapsed and the paramedics could not revive him. What a tragedy. Moments like this are hard to understand. I got ready and went to work to meet with staff to tell them.

Finally at about 2:00 PM the Mrs. and I got to York. We walked the Orange Hall until a little after 6:00 PM. Bought a Lionel MOW Ballast Tamper NIB for $40 (list was $95+) Cute little critter. Also picked up David Doyle's two new books on PW Sets and PW 1945-1969. I already had his Pre-War book. I picked up a CTT box truck too. Very detailed. Looks nice on the layout.

Today I met a college buddy and went through Silver, Blue, Brown, Purple, and Orange again. Also walked through Black Hall to see the Flower City Tinplate Trackers modular display. I bought some repro couplers for pre-war that I am restoring. I also picked up a NYC Gantry Crane (non magnet variety) for $65. I came with two coil covers for gondolas that you can lift on and off with the hook. Might have to create some freight loads (like CSXT30/John's) to manuever around with the crane. Been looking for a Gantry Crane, if I don't like the non-magnet version, I think I could get my money back on eBay.

Met with GregM and wife, Roy, LAZ, Don Baker, John Fullerton, Fife, MartyE, Brent, and some other forumites at the CTT booth. We took our traditional photo with Neil and Kent from CTT. Wait till you see the photos, quite a motley crew.

Hope to post some photos this weekend.

Take care,

Mitch

Evening.  Just got in from a dinner out.  Pam's good friend had a birthday and we met her and her husband at a Tex-Mex place.  Got to visit for a couple of hours.  Now to rest.  Sawed up two trees for the neighbor and hauled them to the woods.  Mowed my grass and part of that yard.  Will finish tomrrrow AM.  Roseyville will have its anual Recreation Day and Parade.  Starts the kids baseball/softball season.  Maybe some train time.  Later.

Went to Bandana's for dinner - BBQ pork and sausage with a side salad and garlic bread.  Gave the fries to my son after he put too much hot sauce on his to eat them.  Then to HD for 6 more light fixtures for the basement (13 total now).  These are 2 bulb T8 32 watt flourescent fixtures with electronic ballasts.  Also bought a case of lightbulbs for these fixtures.  Also bought a motion sensor light switch for the garage that will stay on for up to 15 minutes after movement ceases - this way the overhead lights can come on when my wife comes home in the dark, which will be nicer for her. Forgot the mole stuff though :(  Neat stuff in the AtlasO catalog, thanks for the update on the overlord!

As Mitch said, we had a great time today with the 3rd meet ( and 2nd annual) CTT Forum get-together. Got photos and hope I can post when I return Sunday night. Pretty good sized group from the original fantastic 4 of 2006. We might have to use the stadium next year?

John, Don, and I toured together through all the halls the last 2 days and had a great time shootin the breeze and looking at more trains then one can conceive. When we got together for a lunch after the photo, the nawtheners were still talking about the great Harrisburg GRITS-capade (or maybe it should be called GRITS-Gate?). Way to go Chief - you the man.

LAZ made some strategic purchases and is cooking up a surprise for da Chief. All I can say is it involves a certain 800 lb bear! Shock [:O]

Regards, Roy

It sure was sunny and warm in YORK.  Probably due to all that HOT AIR coming up from the SOUTH.  Someone sure has been very chatty today on the FORUM!  Oh, BTW, anyone looking for a NS boxcar?  I bought one today for a song, but would gladly part with it for saaaay $95; plus shipping;and handling;and PA taxes;plus finders fee...

 Hello All :

It's been a long while and have been missing this site alot . Bought a new system and lost all my info and logins and had to redo it all ! Maybe the avatar will be a bit familiar to a couple but if not well ... it's just good to be back . Have been working on my ATV most of the time for summer and have to get back to my trains . We have alot of guys here with 4-wheelers/ATVs and want to get a search and rescue volunteer group finished . After the boy scout missing and seeing all the people searching with them we thought we should get off our rears and get feet and wheels on the ground ASAP here to help find these children and folks lost . Our local law enforcement welcomed the idea overwhelmingly ... as they have none to go deep in the trails and hard to get at areas .

Will be checking back to see everyone ... missed ya'all .............. Sigh [sigh]

Mitch, sorry for the news.  Things like this are far beyond our understanding.  For the crew at York, it does sound like you are having some fun.  Glad to hear it.  My night got shot as I was about to leave the hospital, got the page and had to do an emergency case.  Never did get dinner and now it is nearly midnight, so, I will just hit the pillow when I get home.  Have to check post op X-ray to make sure every thing is alright, and then I am out of here.

Fife, I think I will pass on the NS deal that you have.  Now, if it was NW or Southern, I might be tempted.  Glad to know that you think so highly of us to offer such a deal.

Have a great night,

dennis

PS: Hobo, great idea.  You may want to get a GPS that you can take with you, just in case.  You never know where the next incident will occur and where they will put the command post.  Just enter that and you are good to go.
