Now...if a Chevy has a noisy lifter when it's cold, then you have an oil problem. The lifter isn't pumpimg up to pressure. Sounds like cleaning out the system was a good idea. The lifter will act like a solid lifter when not pumped up. It will make noise as a solid lifter not in adjustment. Take care of it soon, as you are wearing out the lobe on your camshaft.

Got the home theater installed and boy am I impressed! This thing is great. We are going to start watching all those movies that we have been collecting(after the kids go to bed).
Won a auction for a coal car with Choo choo auctions. Also won one at The Train-station. Gotta watch it or SWMBO will get hot under the collar.
As to car repairs, our Mercedes has 80,971 miles on it. Started rattling at the catalytic converter. Went to Mercedes service, they told me the warranty on that is up at 80,000 miles. Looks like more change into the car repairs.

This just in from Gotham City - the Batmobile is on its last legs. I opened up the oil spout on the valve cover and saw a milky coating inside. Large amount of coolant missing from the reserve tank...Head gasket is gone, and with 150,000 miles on it, I don't see the point in getting it fixed. So off we go tomorrow to buy a new car.
I need to go lay down now.

I have my first chevy in more than 30 years right now and I'm loving it . Bought it used but love the ride. Very comfortalble and I really didn't need 4 wheel drive where I was (may here time will tell) and I have the small V-8 think its the 4.6 vortec but tell you what she has the get up and go when needed and the gas milage isn't much different than my ford ranger V-6 with a stick. and I know have auto transmission. I was getting like 18- 19 around town now get 17-18 and n trips was like 24 - 26 now 22 - 24 so can't complain and I now have a full size truck with extra cab ( 2003 ) had a 95 so move up in the world lol.
I was really thinking of buying a Chevy truck, but now I will need to rethink my thinking.
As to GPS, I wouldn't be without it when I get in the boat on a big lake or river. Last year in Canada, we headed out fishing in a light rain. We were catching walleye after walleye in the cool summer rain and then the rain stopped. A dense fog settled in on us in a matter of minutes. We could not see 15 yards. As it was beginning to get dark, we fired up the Merc and started following the "breadcrumbs" on the screen as we navigated down the curving river. Two boats, knowing we had GPS on board fell in behind us.
The wife has GPS in her car. I love to use it to find train stores.
The unemployment people called me to day and it was great telling them I'm going back to work. A buddy in NE Ohio was laid off and is thinking of moving to Raleigh, NC area. I told him that he could buy a mansion in Rolesville.

Thought I had seen it all till today I acually saw a lady walking her big dog using a real Redneck Leash all it was , was 4 white shopping bags tied together one end tied to the dogs choker chain and the other end had the handles so she could walk him/her.
Not to much happening here today. Waiting on the UPS guy to bring my last train buy for the next couple of months as I'm really on restriction now lol. B&O GP-35 wiliams.

I'm not jerking you around. Many Probe GT owners (and Mazda owners who have the KLDE or KLZE engine) have reported success. Ford put the Mazda KLDE in the 93-97 Probe GT, so that is why I mentioned Mazda. I haven't needed to try it myself because my car hasn't developed the lifter noise. It has about 186,650 miles on it also.

Good Morning Everyone !! That was me !! CSX wants all their employees properly equipped !! I went in to work yesterday & they handed me a new Garmin 340c Street Pilot GPS navigation system !! When my son & I left the airshow Monday & couldn't go to the road I wanted & got lost in downtown Cleveland, I told him we will get one of these before I retire !! Two days later, there it is !! I won it in the Safety committee drawing !! I can't get over it !! It works good too ! Coming home after 1 this morning, a local police officer stopped me & he said I was going straight but then was going crooked !! I told him I was playing with my new GPS !! He liked it & was very nice !! Whew, got threw that one good I thought !! I haven't had a drink in 18 years now !!

The ATF fluid in the oil is suppose to act as a deturgent and clean the engine.
What year is the Chevy and what kind of motor is in it? Alot of older chevys get a little tap and if it goes away it's not really harmful but over time (years depending on how you drive it) it might take longer to go away. Find out if it's deffinitly a lifter tap. If it is and you have a older Chevy sometimes you can take the valve cover off and with the engine running just slightly torgue the rocker arm down untill the tap goes away. Then back it off a hair. It's messy cause oil with be squirting all over but if it works it's less expensive then pulling the engine apart to replace a lifter. I always found out if you pull a engine apart that has high milage it opening a can of worms. Had a 69 Mustang head gasket went and I redid the top end and a year later the had to do the bottom.
When I say older Chevy talking about the 80's early 90's. But if it goes away I would leave it alone and just put a little heavyier oil in it. Motor Honey works good thickins the oil and makes it stick to the parts. Use it in alot of Harleys cause they are air cooled and the oil breaks down faster. Only thing is colder weather the oil gets thick and takes a little longer to get around the engine.
You could go see Click & Clack, the Tappet Bros. in Cambridge
or you could just say it's not the lifters, its the fuel injectors making noise
WHAT? IT'S CARBURATED? no matter, it's still the injectors (or, in my case a possible car bomb)

Drain the oil and replace the filter, then put new oil in. Leave 1 quart out for now. In place of the quart you left out, dump in a quart of ATF. Let the engine idle for 10-20 minutes, then change the oil and filter again. This time, put the full amount of oil in that your owners manual specifies and omit the ATF. I know this sounds strange, but everyone says it works. By the way, I replaced the bad shell on the 2343, looks much better.
Jimbo, are you jerking me around? Because a few quarts of oil and ATF sound a lot cheaper than a new set of lifters and a cam shaft. The lifter is only noisy until the engine heats up. Then it sounds normal.
I just took a CTT survey on which cover to choose for the January issue, and offered my reasons why. I sure hope they don't do that for the February issue!

Jef/john-I learned real fast what lightning can do to house wires,open circuits in the walls, wire nuts loose in junction boxes,the alarm repairman found the same thing when he got here, plus some of those little window switches stuck closed. I wouldn't say welded but they would not open. We have a fireplace that runs the length of the side wall and we were sitting in that room less than five feet from where the strike hit outside that wall. I'm thinking my/ our time is not up yet. I'm sure those bricks could have blown all over that room.

Another day, more repairs! Took the El Camino in for brakes, could hear the left front sensor just a little, then a horendous squeak from the right rear. Come to find out the axle seal was leaking, and grease saturated the shoe. It doesn't stop there. Ended up having to replace rear axle, brake shoes, axle bearings, left front caliper, pads, etc., etc., etc.,. Maybe should have gotton rid of it?
Chief, simple suggestion, have Brutus come down, Im sure he can take care of the town manager, or at least the thought of importing him will straighten everyone out.
Spent a little time in the train room, LOTS of adjustments and tweaking to do. Beleive me I'm fighting for every 1/4". Good news is even the scale Cab Forward runs well on the track plan. Soundboard really works well!!! Very satisfied.
RT - Dont give up, something will turn up when you least expect it! I too have been there, more than once!

Chuck - No surprise with Tony, he will go where the money is. It certainly will be interesting to see what happens with DEI, Teresa has certainly fallen out of favor with everyone. Can't believe it is anything like Dale Sr intended!

What's this? Corruption in Roseyville!! Chief, your town manager, should be suspended for four days without pay and then pay the town the cost of a rental car. You of course will be looking for a new town manager, but since Jimmy A is moving to Roseyville, that problem is solved.
