GOOD MORNING TO ALL,     Another damp 49 start, but sunny and warmer this week.

Folks should not get upset by what shows up on one of these forums, just say your piece, step back and let it go.     I skipped cutting the grass on sat. so I could  watch football, now I am waiting for it to dry this AM so I can do that little chore today.

I have no train plans today but it's probably time to check the "M" engine batteries again. As soon as I get settled with the bills from that storm I am getting the rest of the BCR's and be done with it.    Pots running slow this morning guess everyones at work trying to wake up.

Mornin' fellas, and Ms Lisa.

Another eventful weekend down... finally getting over this cold...

Saturday Susan and I got a coat of paint on 1/2 the shed after watching PSU beat Buffalo.  Then we watched Alabama come back and beat Arkansas.  Yesterday we spent the day with her brother, and watched the Steelers for a bit before heading to M&T Bank Stadium to see the Ravens try and lose one to the Jets.  Ray Lewis would have none of that and intercepted a pass in the endzone right in front of us! Smile [:)]

Got word that the master bathroom vanities, mirrors, and shower door are in.  They are being delivered this Saturday.  So now I have to get the shed painted, and trimmed out.  The Susan wants to get the front bedroom wall paper removed, walls fixed, and painted, then the master bathroom project starts.  Should get to working on that the weekend after next.

---
York is coming up in a few weeks... I got an email from Atlas O about some demos they are doing.  I'm taking in the 1pm Friday show... anyone else taking them in?

I think all I'm looking for is track and maybe a 6 car set of grey Western Maryland hoppers.  Nothing more on my list that I really have room for till I get construction started (hopefully mid to late October).

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a sunny 46 degrees. Going up to 80 today with all sunshine. The nights are getting colder.

Today is a usual , running errands day. I have about 5 stops to make. Then, I will be working around the house for a few hours. I don't think I will have time for trains. Wish I did.

I heard a rumor that Buckeye was escaping from Alabama, today. He has eluded the 'Bama Gang, and will hop a fast freight North.

Less than 3 weeks left before the Berea train show.

Dining Car is here and well stocked. Time for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Monday.

Quick stop by.  Had a late ending to night church.  Was great stuff, glad I went.  I read Laz's post about Frank meeting Jim Barrett.  Glad they were able to get together.  I think both make great contributions to the hobby.

Gotta run start off dark early with a few cases.

God Bless,

Bit chilly today here in Philly. Nothing much to say. Work is kinda slow. Training new guy only a week out of the academy.

Little guy gave me a nice head cold that he caught from the munchkin next door. Feels like I got hit with a wiffle ball bat in the nose. Hope it's only a 24hr thing. Well gonna get some Tea and lay down. Everyone be safe.

HI GIZ,

Beautiful of a day here got up to 67.  Took my dog and me for a nice 4 miler today on the old railroad bed here in Millersburg.  Nice change o pace running on black dirt otherwise known as coal dust.  A bit dirty but great to be there.  In the summer filled with horse flies and deer flies and when they bite they hurt, so only run there in early spring and fall.

BEARS WIN, but I lost bet with BRO, gave him 10 pts. on KC his team.  Now I got to bring beer to the fireplace after first day o phesant season.

Just got done running trains for an hour, NO PILE UPS.

All is good with the world.

Nice day today, a little overcast and cool, but not too humid.  I got all frames primed and only a little on the windows.  I'll scrape it off tomorrow.  The primer was brown - didn't remember getting brown.  It looks fine with the siding, so I guess I knew what I was doing.  Have to paint this week.  I've got the leftovers and rags outside.  I've seen a couple news stories where folks were painting and that night the rags spontaneously combusted and burned down their house!  Went to buy a gift certificate for my nephew and then went to Michaels and checked out the Halloween stuff for this year - a couple really cool animated buildings!  I guess I need to start thinking about the Halloween layout for this year.  Wish the basement was done already.  TTFN!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Pots cold;   everyone must be outside today. I'll take a chance and make fresh. Oldest son and two grandsons came  by and helped me move the boat to the patio so its summer is over. Also helped me move ruined tv to the curb for  trash man tomorrow. At least it won't be our christmas tree. watched the Det. lions actually win another game although it didn't look like anyone wanted to win. No train running today busy.  I'll drop back before bedtime.   Sir James

That sounds like a plan.  I'm reserving the gondala (outside car) trip at 8:15am, which is the early trip, and then taking the bus back.

edit- They just added a premium gondola with free mug since last night.  No price given for the return home trip via bus.  The seats sure look a lot more comfortable!

Thanks for the tip,
Wes

Just returned from a wonderful 3 days at lake Okoboji, summer is winding down quickly with one more trip to Lake Superior next week. Still no sign of fall colors but that will change dramatically within the next 3 weeks.

Wes--the bus trip from Silverton back to Durango is less than an hour as I remember it, I think. Our driver was very interesting and pointed out several points of interest that you cannot see on the train. The other thing was that we were able to go through the museum and then grab an adult beverage and watch the train return to the yards. If you are in the open air car (which is where we were) consider very warm clothes and perhaps a blanket, especially at this time of year. It's a great trip, you will love it.

Good Afternoon.  Had a great day so far.  Morning church with a Refresh conference.  Our usual is Mexican food after Sunday school.  Wife and daughter are sleeping, son and I have Star Wars, episode I on.  I thumbed through the programs over the next few days.  One program on one of the history channels is called "what the victorians gave us" and this episode has a section on the Great Western Railway.

Spoke to my mother this afternoon, her cousin from across the pond is coming to visit.  He hails from Sussex, England.  They usually spend the better part of a month.  Perhaps I should load him up with some Lionel sets for our friends across the pond.

Well, time to get ready for evening church.  Hope everyone has a great week ahead.

Morning from a cloudy and cool Crystal Lake where I just got back from church with 'marching orders' to find the middle boy's book club book which he has promptly lost - - - but I thought I could check in here first. It was a fun White Sox game last evening: unexpectedly, I had the chance to upgrade to really good seat, and it didn't get as cold as I thought. Jim Thome had three chances to hit HR #500 and didn't. The middle boy and I had fun - not talking much but just being together. Off to search... Hmm, maybe I can run the trolleys in the background whlist looking through the basement.

Jim F, a nice list of all Great Britain has done for us... The Dangerous Boy for Boys comes to mind too - a great mindset behind it. Hope your heels heal soon. Glad to hear your bride is home, Marty.

JIM,EL BRUTO, Sounds like it could be a Sciatic nerve problem?  That nerve runs all the way down and wraps around the heel of the foot, I had that problem last year and took about a month to get rid of it.  Or it could be a Achillies tendon too?  Thats really a tough one to mend.  The heel cups worked for me, I use em from time to time also the Dr SCHOLLS insert works for the whole foot.  Good luck and keep eating those healthy strawberries, with a little whipped cream.

Morning all,

Fife, One nice thing that has happened at Harper's Ferry is the renovations to the Passenger Station.  Don't know if the NPS had anything to do with it but it is now very nice.  Except for the underpass to the West bound tracks which was not renovated.  That may have something to do with handicap access, not sure.

Good morning all.  I did some more painting on the tunnel last evening.  Wife slept good in her own bed, I slept like crap.  Too worried about hitting the surgery and keeping the cats from it as well.  Nothing on the agenda today so I may work more on the tunnel.

GOOD MORNING ALL,     Cool and damp turned furnace on a little while as these old bones ohh, house was 65. we are going to 80 during the week so this is just a test run for later. I forgot yesterday was youngest sons birthday(36) so we had them over for moms cooking. roast beef and mashed taters, good. Got to get the boys over to help me move the boat to the back patio for the winter.I can't do it alone as we have to pull/push across the yard around to the back and onto the patio.

Lisa n-My email was about using gargraves track connectors. they work just fine or the old marx connector with the two blades also works good. Just spread the ties and push the connector into the rails. I have two loops of track around a 25 by 25 room and two wires to each track. One by  the transformer and another at the far end with NO voltage loss. I do solder the wires to hide them but that is NOT necessary.

Enough for now,           Sir James
