Good evening all,

Good news.  Wife found her original wedding ring.  Bad news.  Had already bought a replacement one.  Go figure.  Lots of stress.  Email still getting a lot of spam.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

I forget, is anyone close by in VA?

We live about an hour (or so, if nobody wrecks on I-64) east in the West End of Henrico County, outskirts of Richmond.

55 and sunny.  Beautiful day.  Wifey wants to do yard work.  I have to mow and get safety inspection on pickup.  Pickup now loaded with bails of pine straw.

Our gas prices dropped yesterday.  One 10 cents a gallon.

Have a great day.

Hello there,
should be sleeping but wide awake

Mrs & I get the 1st Pfizer shot tomorrow morning.

Seems like spring has sprung. The oak tree is almost bare, maple buds bursting, crocus in bloom and daffodils are starting to open.

Plugging away on the kitchen. Got the floor done. Put the cabinet where the wall and ceiling were patched back up.  Got to put a new light kit and blades on the ceiling fan, finish scrubbing the cabinets and put a fresh coat of paint on the baseboard heat then put everything back. Helped son take the snowplow off the big tractor today, time to start using the other plow.

Best try to sleep.

Prayers for those in need and the end of this pandemic

Aloha and happy end-of-weekend - I got somehow locked out again. My condolences on your loss, Fife. Today was a pleasant day weather-wise - the crocuses (croci?) are coming up - my favorite kind of flower because I don't have to do anything to encourage them.

Hey all!

Sunny and 60's. Nice. Son drove me to Ft Worth yesterday to visit with some friends that were in town. They have also had their shots. We had a nice time at an outdoor brew pub - big patio, breezy.

Good NASCAR and Sebring races this weekend. Sebring finish was best one in years. NASCAR today not too interesting so far.

MikeC - congrats on completing the 5K!

Had a longer post but the CTT site crashed when I hit "submit" - so not gonna retype it. Short story - asked to repair a TMCC ERR equipped G Ga Bachman 4-6-0 but appears the R4LC board is toast, and maybe the DC Commander. No way for me to proceed with this as a "science project" so informing the owner this will require all new ERR parts (DC Commander /R4LC and Sound Board) for about $230 shipped w/tax and another $250 or so for the diagnosis, recheck of all wiring, and some repairs to the pickup wipers. I do not have time - nor wish to spend it - buying a part or two - returning parts for repair - etc. A new Bachman 4-6-0 retails for $1000 - DCC ready. So unclear what the owner will want to do - $500 for repair of old loco - or $1000 plus electronics install for a new loco. Cannot say the old loco may not break something - mechanical due to age - even after $500....

Regards, Roy

Good afternoon all,

First of all, my condolences on your loss, Fife.  It has been an "interesting" week.  One day this week, my email started getting flooded with spam.  Enabling the standard filters shoved everything to the junk side of things, but that also included the 1% of stuff I wanted.  I set up some rules which appear to be reducing the flow of the sewage, and I am slowly putting safe tags on the good mail.  It is a shame this somehow happened, and I hope there is a special place in Hades for whoever caused this to occur.  So far there appears to be no financial consequences as I never use email for credit card activity.

On a positive note, I did my first 5K of the season.  A bit brisk outside but multiple layers kept me comfortable.  I wore myself out afterward helping unload the sheet metal for the shed and then doing some other tasks before collapsing in a chair the rest of the afternoon before Mass.  Got some really good news as one of AJ's drivers was on the winning team for Sebring yesterday.  I am not sure I like the changes on the TRAINS website.  Seems like some of the benefits we had as magazine subscribers might be going away.  Time will tell.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Morning/afternoon folks!

Sunny and maybe 70 today. The cold front came screaming through day/evening before and yesterday like Snowpiercer - pool is full of leaves and the tree they came from is on the other side of the house. Wind is finally dying down. Glad the pool guy comes today!

BIL is doing well health/physically - just not sure about his faculties. Looks like his pup will go to his oldest daughter in a couple of weeks. Not sure where he is going to end up, but they are letting his daughters provide input which is a plus.

Fife - continued prayers for your family.

Regards, Roy

44 and raining. Windy. This is not part of the line that went through last night. We got no rain out of that.  Slight damages NE of us and Charlotte area.

Slept good as pharmacist prescribed meds different than Dr. When I did wake during the night, just went back to sleep. This morning, neighbor's son with his big noisy diesel sat at the end of drive waiting to get out [at bedroom side of house]. Drove off, went right back to sleep. Seems good.

Riding with Wifey to Raleigh and surrounding areas doing errands.

Hope all are OK.

So sorry Fife.

Dr. apt for pain relief postponed as schools closed today due to storm threat. Actually, virtual. No more snow days or others. Schools closed due to weather, virtual learning. [now some parents fussing about that ]

Go get Caddy they SAY is ready.  Haircut later.

Evening All,

Some Irish here, can't say we celebrate it much, probably about 1/8 according to my Mom.

Spent the past two days working on a Blue Comet Heavyweight passenger car.  I  got it in a trade when I did the Nixon Library train layout.  The curator had a Legacy Scale engine and 4 car set, but didn't like it because it was too complicated.  Asked if I knew where he could find a Lionel conventional set, I told him I had one.  He asked if we could trade!  Mine was from the mid 80's, so obiously I said sure!  His was a 2013 set, so a 30 year upgrade, and scale vs O27 set.

The problem with the pass car was wiring from BOTH trucks, the insulation was melted!  I CAN'T believe the gauge wiring used, 24 or 26 awg!  I replaced it with 18 awg, tight fit but it worked.  A real PIA getting it back together!  (Makes me wonder the wire condition in the other cars.)

HOPEFULLY, the weather is finally warming up, its been cold and wet here.  But the days are noticeably longer!  And certainly can't complain compared to the rest of the country!

One heck of an explosion in Ontario yesterday.  Two houses blew and 80 damaged!  2 people were killed, it was all due to fireworks, probably being manufactured.  The two deaths were 2 brothers who lived in one house. Lots of people evacuated and can't return for 4 or 5 days, until the area has been cleared.  Big news here.

Take care all and be safe!

Don

Afternoon folks!

No Irish here - some Scottish...A lotta fog this am - but enough about Texas politics - partly sunny today, 60's. Storms last night dumped about an inch anda' half of rain.
