Mornin' boys.  Where's everybody, on ventilators? LaughWhistling Crickets.

Spent yesterday cutting my grass, as well as nurse princess's grass.  Then youngest princess cut my flowing locks, giving me the Kojak (I prefer the Yul).  Who loves you baby?  Wifey loves the "aerodynamic" Fifey, and never wants me to grow hair again.

Good morning from Jelloway Creek,

Mike C. & Roy.... Our firestick was really acting weird the last couple of days. I even reset the modem and the firestick. We were getting the message of not internet.

Layout is progressing. I haven't needed to purchase many pieces. Most are from the old layout.

Good morning all,

Interesting that 3 of us had Firestick issues this weekend.  So odd.  Worked some late last night on Marx layout.  Got out an old whistle station to add some sound.  Discovering more nuances to Marx scissors couplers.  Really need to oil the axles. Such an odd combination.  Tinplate wheels and axles with plastic bodies.  Some of the trucks have covers over axle ends, others do not.  Wish I knew what came with original set or maybe it was pieced together.  Traffic very light this morning.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Buckeye - I always liked using MTH tracks, but then again, didn't have the switch issues that many here lamented about.  With the exception to the Industrial Rail pieces I needed, I also used whatever I had on hand.  My buddy asked if I was going to eventually make it all Industrial Rail?  Unless it drops into my lap, nah.  When all 4 lines are running, I could care less what the track looks like.

Good Morning (late),

Survived another weekend, don't really remember what I did. Obviously nothing significant, did make a few phone calls, that was enjoyable!

I think we might have the rainy/cold season finally behind us.  Today in the mid/upper 60's, then by weekend the 90's!  That is going to really create some issues with the isolation guidlines!

Hope the safeguards are reduced gradually, I think the whole country has done very well coping, but not throw it all away with a hasty relaxation.  Definitely needs to be determined on a local county by county level.

Think I'm going to replace a gate at the side of our house, its been there for at least 15 years, and wood is rotting.  Having a pool in the yard, the gates are absolutely mandatory.  We also had a wrought iron fence around the pool, but when Chris was a young teen-ager took it down.  I used a couple of the sections of it as a frame for the gate.  It really has worked well.  I'm thinking of instead of wood using the "plastic" planks used as fencing today.  Repaint the frame and attach the planks to it.  Should work.

Dennis & Doug, better dig your swimsuits out so you can start working on your tans, the weather It is A Changing.

Stay safe all, and have a great day!

Don

We had a good weekend; Weather was nice both days. Did some lite yard work on Saturday and Sunday the boy, his wife and two youngest came out to visit. The grand-kids were going nuts at home with no friends to see because of the lockdown so they decided tearing this place up would be fun.
They had not had anything to eat so wife and DIL went to the store and got things to cook on the grill. After we ate the kids were driving all over on the old Gator and the dirt bike. About 1:30 we lost all power to the house. I figured someone hit a pole? Powered up the gen set and figured I would wait it out. The son wanted to take the 14-year-old out in the country to drive my Ranger so I said fine. Anyway, when they got to the end of the lane here is the power lines on the ground across both lanes so we were trapped. Come to find out the farmer was field spraying and caught the power lines when he was un-folding the boom getting ready to spray. Wonderful! So, they were trapped here till around 7:15 before they could leave. The power came on as they were leaving. Later our daughter called to tell us they picked up a 10-week-old Belgian Malinois / German Shepherd mix. Nice looking dog but I think it is a bit big for that postage stamp they live on? That girl grows up and there will plenty of clean up to do for the do do. Smile, Wink & Grin
Don, I would love to see this over with as you do. I can’t phantom these fools who are so shallow that they can’t figure that they are doing no one any good by protesting an act of God.  What are they thinking? This thing is all around the globe, not just here. But people today have no idea on how to make sacrifices, the world revolves only around ME. Protecting each other is not giving up freedom, it is doing what is best for each other. JMHO   SoapBox

Afternoon folks!

Cloudy and high 50's, but no rain predicted til Wed. Should hover in the 70's this week, which is below last week's predictions of 80's.

Watched the Sun sermon on the PC. Our pastor is good at laughing at his own jokes since there is no audience!

Daughter and SIL over for Sun family dinner last night. Daughter brought precut materials and we sewed up 7 masks for friends. Will do that again sometime this week. The 1954 Singer purrs. Offered to teach her how to use it - she has one of those Brother machines that self threads, etc., won't let you sew if the foot is not down, etc - but she politely rejected the idea!  ::)  She also has one of those "Cricut" machines that you can program to cut fabric, paper, thin wood, etc., using these light adhesive reusable "pads" as a carrier.

I think the Firestick is always 'communicating' with Jeff Bezos and he got behind in his surveillance of all of us (everyone being at home ya know) and that jammed the FS's up for a while til he caught up.

Regards, Roy

I hear ya Fife, it is far from over. I have no "proof" (evidence or argument establishing a fact) if the virus is an act of man or God at this point. Either way God made Man. The greatest threat to man is man. This is going to be a long run, anyone who wants to go out and swap spit, shake hands, or sit on each others lap,,, I say go ahead. But Don't stand so close to me! Not many I want to be within 6' of anyday anyhow. Smile, Wink & Grin I will do my best to protect others and the ones I love.  Ran the rest of that semi load of 2" gravel out to the back trail swamp holes. Much better! I can get to the back now! Yes

Hello there,

should be sleeping but wide awake.

Today's the 1st day everyone in PA is supposed to wear a mask. Lots of talk about reopening things starting May 8.

Big announcement today. Some liquor stores open for curbside pickup, call ahead, credit card only, 6 bottle limit. Glad I still have plenty, only one store in Blair County open and they couldn't answer the phone fast enough.

Mowed the grass for the 1st time today. Should've been done 2 weeks ago but to soggy. Was really wet today but more rain tomorrow. Got a grocery order to pickup at 7AM tomorrow. We've been doing well, family and friends bringing us stuff most of the time.

Best try to sleep.

Prayers for those in need and the end of this pandemic

Cold at 38 degrees but full sun,
Got to go to Menards for some concrete mix to put on the culvert ends to stop wash out.

It sure seems there is a lot of differences state to state with these restrictions. Drive through beeer?  Only 6 bottles??? Surprise  Now that would make me mad. Laugh

Maybe that is part of the problem. We can do just about anything in the places that are open and roam around without issue.  Huh?

Sunday when the son was here. I let the son show the grandson how to shoot a 4-10 shotgun I got for the boys. He brought his BB gun over to shoot but as soon as he got that 4-10 in his arms, well he forgot about the BB gun. He was pissed because his sister was a better shot with the BB gun so I told him, "try this anybody can hit what they are shooting at with this." Yes
Best get going.

Mornin' boys.  Breezy 52 and drizzle along the Patterson Creek cut-off.  Nothing on tap today.  West Virginia will begin a limited openning on Monday.  Maryland still on lock-down til further.

Spent yesterday cleaning up branches on our property, and after dinner, youngest princess and I had a camp fire, next to the little run out back.  I showed her how to use a hatchet to chop wood, and we even made smores.  We were out there for several hours, and she loved it.

Knobley Mountain is turning all green once more.

Fife... Thanks. Those are Williams E7 AA C&O Pere Marquette. I found them at a small train show near the prison in Mansfield, Ohio. I took them over to the text track; a large oval and they ran perfect. Someone had put an oscillating headlight into the powered unit. They look like they have been sitting on a shelf. No wear on the rollers. I had been looking for these for over five years at an appropriate price. Sometimes the small shows have good buys.
Here is an up close image from Ebay.

Kev.....the 6 bottle limit is wine or liquor. Also one order per day per household. Beer distributors are open again. Can also buy wine and beer at some convenience and grocery stores in limited amounts. PA is one of the last states where liquor is still sold in what used to be referred to as "State Stores" Only recently wine and beer rules loosened

Happy Taco Tuesday - we are having Taco Bell for dinner tonight - yeah!!

Getting you all caught up on da news:

Saturday was a pretty crappy day weather wise and it was cold.  Re-wired the layout and cleaned the tracks.  Buckeye and RT have it right, I should have done the BUS wiring prior to moving every train related item I own under the layout.  Suffice to say, it was a literal pain in the a$$, having to crawl under the table multiple times and re-wire it.  I have 2 more sections to do and that it where the heaviest concentration of boxes are.  But the wiring itself will be easier, as this is where the Atlas O track is and I just need to replace the track connecting shoes and replace them with the wired ones and connect them to the bus.  I did notice a big improvement in the Spooky Town Branch voltage as all the caboose and the search light car are very bright now (Half the layout is Fastrack, the more visible areas are Atlas). In Spooky Town, all that is left to do is hook up the Lionel Haunted Mansion to power and a switch and finish the grass.  We finished up the day by watching Dirty Mary and Crazy Larry and then headed off to bed at Mom's house.  I did receive a 2006 Dodge Magnum R/T in Red to match my Magnum and parked it in the driveway of my "house".

Sunday was Mopar Muscle Sunday, we got the shopping done and then went to awaken the slumbering giants.  I washed my car as it was filthy and  chamoised off Jenni's Charger, her paint job looks spectacular!!  We went and got gas, I filled up with 93 Octane as did Jenni and we took a short cruise through the country side.  It turned MUCH colder and windier.  Resecured the temporary garages and swept out the area, and both cars are back in their shelter.  Had dinner via Dominoes and then watch a video from Danny Harmon in Tampa on YouTube.  You should subscribe to his channel very cool dude with a lot of info on CSX and operations in FLAUSA .

Jenni thanks all who thought of her when her Grandma passed.  And I thank you all as well.  PS Closing on the house has been pushed back to Wednesday Bang Head

Work is painfully slow.  Or illustrious Fuhrer Governor is consulting with the head of the Five Families (Moron Cuomo in NY) to open the state when everyone else is ready, rather than where is little or no corona opening those areas first.  Like Michigan, the people of NJ are tired of being restrained.  Masks and gloves are fine, everyone need to get back to work, I can't live on 30% of my pay and I'm sure the mortgage company will have no problem taking my late fees or my house if I don't pay......there are rural areas of PA and NJ that have very little activity and they need to be pahsed in and opened - and that is my opinion.

Banks - Some may be drafting my brother to run for Governor of PA, just a heads up.....

Roy - Looks like TrainWorks will be on Virtual York on the 22nd.  If I can get to a computer, I'll check it out.

Jenni is up and heading out soon for her walk through - this actually might be happening!!  Closing tomorrow at 11 in Toms River.  PRAY it goes through!!

Stayed home after work, yesterday, played catch with the softball, I made dinner and then we watched Star Trek and Holmes Inspection (it was an old one) then off to bed.  Maybe tonight.....need to finish the wiring.

Rainy and very breezy now - 65F the high then severe thunderstorms later in the afternoon.....55 tomorrow

That's all from here...............

I am the monster in your head...And I thought you'd learn by now, It seems you haven't yet.

Yeah Devil, they're going to have to make the hard decision of "The greatest good for the greatest many" pretty damn quick.  By that statement I mean how many are going to get sick (no-one knows) versus the 22 million out of work and in dire straits nationwide, a number they DO know about.

I imagine all the governors everywhere never expected to find themselves on a hot seat like this.  Well, this is where they "pay" for the priviledges of rank, the governor's mansion, being limo-ed around with state police escorts, hobnobbing with big shots, being addressed as "The Honorable" or "His (or her) Excellency," and all the other perks.

You have to make decsions you'd rather not make and you can't please everyone.

Real leadership's tough, you know it and I know it.  They're finding it out.  Surprise, surprise.

Banks, The booze flows everywhere here. Some towns won't let it be sold but by the stores that are padding the people in office. Like Morris east of us. Walmart and gas stations can't sell it only three booze stores in the whole town. Here every gas station has it, just can't get it till after 10:00 AM on Sunday. Laugh

Got the west culvert south side concrete done. Will do the north end tomorrow when I can take the forms off.

Evening folks!

Turned into a sunny day and 84! Cool Rain for tomorrow.

Agree with Dennis - the stupidity of what can be open is beyond a normal persons comprehension, but we are talking about politicians and only the scientists that the politicians approve cuz those scientists agree with the politicians. It's got nothing to do with science.

And...to support all that, the county politician and his 'scientist' here have extended the lock down until May 15....split the county commissioners with only 1 vote margin. The state is running out of money, a LOT of unemployed folks cannot even get to the unemployment office for over 3 weeks now, and Texess is #49 out of 50 states on testing. Folks here are really suffering financially. We have really stupid politicians here at all levels.

On a positive note, I spent much of the day disassembling my Century Club I 773 Hudson to properly lubricate it as it would not run well/consistently. The grease Lionel put in the worm drive gearbox was not on the gears at all. No oil on any shaft in the gearbox. So properly greased the gears, oiled the thrust bearings/bronze bushing, oiled the Pulmor motor armature bearings, and it runs very quietly/smoothly, even at low speed. Also put a dab of grease on the cam surfaces for the smoke unit and chuff microswitch.

Anj - looking forward to the virtual York. I will not be at TW for the event.

Regards, Roy

That is scary Roy! They have no idea how many have it if there is no testing. I can see not having people in large groups like churchs and stuff. But why have tattoo places open????? I do need a hair cut! Wink Oh well these states that are opening up will let the rest figure it out.

Here is the politicians from the top down.  Laugh

A smile for today. . . .

In a Purdue University classroom, they were discussing the
qualifications to be President of the United  States.  It was pretty
simple. The candidate must be a natural-born citizen of at least 35
years of age.

However, one girl in the class immediately started in on how unfair it
was of the requirement to be a natural-born citizen.  In short, her
opinion was that this requirement prevented many capable individuals
from becoming president.  The class was taking it in and letting her
rant, and many jaws hit the floor when she wrapped up her argument by
stating, "What makes a natural- born citizen any more qualified to
lead this country than one born by C-section?"

Yep, these are the same kinds of 18-year-olds that are now voting in
our elections!  They breed, and they walk among us.

And then eventually they become members of  Congress

Mornin' boys.  Sunny and 34 in the Potomac Highlands.  Spoke with Fifepup last night.  He got himself a good deal on a 2020 Chevy Colorado, and it looks like he's staying in FLA.  UPMC looking to open back up its O.R. for surgeries again, so Middle Princess will be happy.

The insane lines of people at food banks should tell the decision makers how dire things are getting.  What's really going on now....?  The term "at all costs" keeps ringing in my ears.

Roy - That 773 wants to roam.  Perhaps a Coffee Pot 773 exchange could be started.  West Virginia should be its first stop.

anjdevil - I could send the grandson to Richland to help run the wiring.  He could use his skateboard as a creeper.

Good morning.  Turning earth on earth day with tractor.  Garden spot has to dry out.  Fair today but rain tomorrow.  Fair friday but rain Sat.  Need about 5 days of no rain.  Farmer trying to plant too.  Lucky here.  You can disk my garden spot and dry it out.  Same with down east at farms.  Sandy loam soils.  More clay soils around here don't work that way.

Installed my first set of cordless blinds in Train Box yesterday.  Once you get the hang of it, easy.  Did the big wide window Where mountain will go.  All the old ones are really OLD.

Enjoy your day.

Fife - Send him up!!  We can keep him well fed and he can crash in my bedroom where I have my 48" HD TV, stereo and direct access to the Train Attic - - - Between me and Jenni, I'm pretty sure he won't starve...lol!!  AND I have plenty of other toys and activities - he can disappear for days up there......

50ish today, bright sun and that damn breeze.....makes it COLDER than it really is....rain tomorrow and Friday morning, alledgely.

Jenni has gone and is signing papers for the house as I type.  After work, I'll meet her at one of the 2 storage areas she has and we will commence to setting her up at her house.  Bed stuff may be later in the week.

May get to finish the wiring this weekend - depending on the house getting set up.

That's all from here....Kev - agreed!!!!
