RT, you're trying harder than I am!  Bow

I've only got space enough for the old, traditional 4 x 8, but it'll do for now. With three loops it serves to exercise the collection pretty well.

Morning.  Had rain.  Foggy this AM.  Nothing on agenda.

Had face to face at Caddy dealer.  Clip not engaged at factory on trans line.  Should have blown earlier.  Replacing all lines and clips.  Detailing the vehicle under side.  Ready Monday or Tuesday.  Wifey happier now.

Have a good one.

Just a word on layouts, My thought was smaller curves save a lot of money. Keeps you from wanting those big buck units. Why I put an half curve of O41 or 42 whatever that wide radius Marx track is in my layout's main loop. If it needs more than a 36" curve I turn away. Smile, Wink & Grin Not to say it would not be fun to have bigger curves, just the all the cost goes up with the wider curves.

Another nice one here on the North Bluff but the temps will start going up today.

Hey KRM, if  I ever do a layout with wide-radius curves it'll be just for looks.  I'm not concerned with getting any "high-end" motive power.  Jeez, I look at the prices on those things and damn near have heart attacks!  That's a lot of money for a toy, brother!

Of course, for those than can afford 'em, well more power to 'em!

Come to think of it, the only things I get at gun shows anymore are heart attacks!  My God, the prices on those things now!

I'm not worried about having those engine which take O-42 and wider. To me the wider curve is for my passenger cars, they say O-42 but look so much better on O54 and even more so on O63 which I had on my last layout. I do have to experiment with my O22 switches and see if my passenger cars can handle going thru two with a straight piece in between the two on the turn out. or they may be limited to no cross overs.

Yeah, as most of you know my layout is O27 profile track and in the yard and main line the switches are O42. The side loops are O27. There again wider switches are a cost up. If I were to build my layout again, it would be a lot different than what I have. Most of my passenger cars are the small postwar ones and only a few of them. I don't have any of the long ones, but I sure do like them. Most of my sets are freights.

When I was at the Big Boy thing I could not help but notice how much bigger todays freight cars are from the ones in the days of my youth. Surprise So it seems the hobby is following the progress on the real trains of the day.

Good evening all,

Took older daughter's two youngest to Entertrainment today.   They really enjoyed it.  Been a while since we had been there.  Lots of detail added.  Nice day.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Morning folks!

Cloudy and possible rain today. Nice day yesterday, moderate temps and a nice breeze. The NASCAR Xfinity race was a good one and a great finish. Grilled some chicken last night.

Chief, glad they found the issue was a simple fix.

Interesting discussion about track/layout radii. I like the look of the wider curves so my old layout has two loops, outer 072  and inner 054. The largest locos I have are scale size Hudsons. I have a Lionmaster Challenger. Have not bought a new loco in nearly 10 years. The first scale Hudson I bought - the first MTH scale Hudson - caused me to rebuild the layout from 054 outer/042 inner to the 072 outer so the Hudson would look better. 072 was the limit since I was limited to an 8' width.

Sun and 80s today.

My layout was built before all these large scale engines existed. 072 is the widest. A scale N&W J will just make the curves. It will never be redone as I used all the available space. Something that hasn't been here for awhile.lol. I think I will have a couple of frozen waffles for breakfast.

My two outer mainlines are 072.  Run scale Lionel Big Boy, N&W Y6B, N&W Mallet with no problems.  Do have a few 54 inch switches for sidings.  If available in my track system when I did layout, I'd go 82 inch curves.  Seem to run better.

Wifey cooking bacon for BLT's.  Got lots of tomatoes.

Have a good week ahead.

Good evening all,

Brought home the other 2 grandkids today.  Played some games.  For some reason, they do not want to chase rabbits.  Where did I go wrong???   Weather warm but dry which I do not mind as the grass is not growing and I do not have to mow....   I hope everyone has a good day.

Mornin' boys.  Sunny and 66 along the Patterson Creek cut-off.  Wifey back at oldest princess's watching grandsons ('tis getting old).  Youngest and I will have shrimp on the grill tonight.

I've always liked O-42 return loops (and an O-54 loop under the old Christmas tree, even better).  If I ran big articulateds, I'd probably think otherwise.  On the new layout, I have a loop-to-loop line, with an O-42 loop on one end, and O-36 on the other.  Scenery disects both.  I thought Frank53's work was marvelous, in which it pulled the eyes away from the radii.  I always recommend replacing straight tangents of track, with O-72, pushing the trackage in, away from the layout's edges.

Morning folks!

Sunny, nice cool breeze to start the day. 88 on tap, nice! Cool

Had an easy day yesterday. I did something to my lower back. Stiff and shooting pains down the back of the legs. At least I am mobile.

RT, I will have to try that? Bet they both work.

Slow day here. Left overs for lunch. I don't know what to think about these kids and the mass shootings? Sick about covers it.

Sun and 87 for today. I blame the news media for some of this shooting hype. They add fuel to the fire with mass coverage of these animal attacks.

The shootings are the symptom, not the disease.

Not being a religious man I had to think hard on this, but as far as I'm concerned if parents don't fill their kids heads with love of God, love of family, love of country, and respect  for their fellow man, I guarantee you something  else  is going to take it's place.

Hello there,  I agree 100% that and there is respect for no one any more.

Great news today.....all the prayers worked. Finally got the word both biopsies are clear. They're going to continue mamograms every 6 months but she is still in remission. Thanks again for your prayers.

Went to the drags late due to tree guy I've been waiting on for 6 months.

Before

Before

After

After, got a little work to do

A fair night at the drags. Grandson finished 2nd in both regular classes and 4th in the dial in class, best finish in it this year.

Yesterday was a slow day. Bed at 230 AM up for 7AM mass then my turn to deposit collection. Dinner out then a long nap, home made pitza and back to bed.

88...............NICE DIGS!!!!!!

Best get back to it, came in for a break from the heat.

Prayers for those in need.

Good Afternnoon my Excellent Friends......

Friday night FINALLY saw Endgame.  Jenni cried, me...almost.  Great movie, I missed the first 20 minutes, Jenni was late coming in.

Saturday we took care of some stuff, ran to the Delsea Drive In for Classic Car Cruise in and saw Smokey and the Bandit.  We had a great time.  Jenni took her Charger and I took my road runner.  The Princess rode down with me and she rode back with Jenni.

Sunday I looked at insulation options and wall covering.  Fife - I did look at the Perma R, I think I'm going to use the Pink O/C walboard, with twice the R factor and twice the price but double the amount in the walboard and I can cut it to fit.  I had an extra piece and trimmed to fit, just need to see if it is going to be cooler at the wallboard.  Has any one used ceiling tiles as wall board?  Paneling and dry wall are going to be almost impossible to bring upstairs.  I figure the ceiling tiles are fiberglass and will keep the noise down and with the foam board insulation, maybe insulate the room.  I'd either glue or nail it to the roof trusses.

Sunday afternoon, literally spent the rest of the day detailing the Jetta, the Princess has taken possession of it and it was filthy.  Saved her $200 on a complete detail.  Took me 4 hours and now it is sparkling.  Took her for Ice Cream at Dairy Queen and then home for burgers cooked by the boyfriend.  Up early, took the Princess to work in Philly.

YANKEES SWEEP!!  Sox are now 14 games behind.  Happy 'bout that!!

2nd playoff game and if we loose we are done.  I'll try to hit'em where they ain't!!

I need a good game tonight.

Been busy here, which means business is good!!

My current layout has O-42 curves with Atlas O and Fastrack switches.

The inside loop is all Fastrack, but I'm re-thinking the tubular track.....once I get back up there, I'll make another decision....lol

Good evening all,

Brent, nice home.  Where is the train room going to be?  Quiet day at work.  Replacement for Pain 1 is working out quite well.  Practice with junior high kids.  Good weather.  Grandkids went home.  No rabbits caught.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mornin' boys.  Our brakie brought his wife and kids by last night, and they had fun playing with fifemax and watching trains.  Traded an old HO engine I had, for some big bags of ground foam he markets.  Good time.

anjdevil - Whoa-whoa-whoa...after 4 hours detailing a vehicle, my princess would be taking ME for icecream.

88 - She has a pretty profile.

Happy Tuesday!!

Banks - That is great news!!

Fife - They usually cook dinner for us on Sunday nights, so I figured it was a wash...lol!!

Brent - the new abode is looking good!!  I am admiring, hell, I'm LUSTING over the 3 car GARAGE!!!

Softball Report - We lost, so, we are done for the year - 3 for 5 with a Home Run (inside the park!), a Triple a Single, 3 RBIs and 3 runs scored.  A double away for the cycle.  I couldn't do much more than I did at the plate.

Cloudy and misty today, calling for showers down in South Jersey.  80s for the high.

Line/Exec meeting tonight, National Night out (I do not understand WHY they schedule meetings when we are suppouse to be supporting the cops tonight....SMH) so I hope you all will attend your local events.  I always have a good time there.

That's all from here.  Check back later!

Mornin' Fellas

Thanks for the comments on the house.

Anj - she gets the 2 car, I get the 1 car. Better that way since she has 2 and I have 1, and I like my Durango sans-dings. Smile

Fife - yeah the house has a nice profile too. Wink

The train room is in the basement. Right now it is unfinished, so in the very early planning phases. Need to bank $$$ for framing, insulation, drywall, recessed lights, paint, etc, etc. Thinking of putting down engineered flooring. Carpet in the old trainroom had impressions where the support legs were and in the year prior to the sale they never disappeared. Engineered flooring won't do that. I also want to design the new train garden so it can be disassembled and moved easily. I wanted to do that with the last one, but with the continual changes it got away from me. I need to visit Fife, Buckeye, DonB, and Roy to get some training on how to best do this. Smile I would visit Chief, but I'm afraid I would show up and he would be off to one of his 'meetings' LOL!

They locked the house last Saturday so we weren't able to get in till Sunday. Found out the house now has electrical service as the AC was on. They had it set to 73 and I can tell you it felt chilly. You also can't hear any traffic noise when the windows and doors are closed.

Banks - Good news on the princess, indeed.  Continued good luck.

88 - Anytime, scoot on over here.  The planning/daydreaming phase of a layout adds to the building of it.  Doesn't sound like you'll have a space constraint (mine was 17'x12', so build what you can "handle".  Think light.  Parts of my new layout are like a Japanese fighting kite, yet bullet proof.

***Advice to those building; wait until you are construction ready to buy lumber.  What you purchase sugar-straight at the big-box store, tends to bend and warp if it sets too long.
