Sunny and low 40's so far today.

Got started ballasting the Thomas the Tank layout at the museum yesterday.  Will continue today.  Hopefully, I'll have enough ballast.

The robotics team is winding up preperations for their trip to the world competition next week.  That meet will wind up the competition for this year.

Dropped the taxes in the mail yesterday, so I've sent to Cesar what Cesar is due.

Following up on the lakefront property transaction we have going up north.  Hopefully, that will be closed by the end of the month.  Also doing research on metal arch buildings.  I'm looking at using one for my shop building on our southern property.  The prices look pretty good, and it looks like they go up easily and quickly - easily enough for a DIY project.

About all for now.

Hello there,

a large group for the CTT photo. Roy  has it but I'm not sure when he'll get to post it.

Mrs and I dined this evening at Layton's Diner with the Michigan Gang and the Jersey Boys.

Breakfast this morning at Cracker Barrel with the same plus Mr and Mrs John F and Roy.

Sir James was missed by all.

Spent yesterday and today walking the Halls of York with Roy and John F. Quite a haul this trip. Three Mantua's, two Gilbert, a Varney and a dozen HO telephone poles. Also picked up a analog multimeter from the tool guy. I'm old school and prefer to see a needle swing. Prices as usual are all over the place  although the stuff I like seems to be coming down.

Travel to Lancaster tomorrow.

Really wupped from walking. Gonna crash soon.

Prayers for those in need

Good evening all,

Quiet day at work.  Got some issues resolved.  Foyt team was midpack in practice which is a great improvement.  Weather was windy.  Watched TCA manufacture presentations.   Glad to hear MTH will make Tinplate in the future.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good evening all, went to the doctor Tuesday following chest xray and he tells me that I have pneumonia.  He put me on antibiotics and sent me for another xray yesterday.  Wants to see me again next week.  I don't feel too bad but I have a chronic cough that comes and goes.  I have been avoiding going out to eat etc and stay home most of the time.  My oldest son came by for a visit this afternoon and stayed for dinner with me.  That was really nice.  My other son will be here tomorrow.  We usually go out to lunch but will have to play it by ear tomorrow.  Hope I can make it to church this week end for Palm Sunday and next week for Easter.

KRM, sorry to hear of the loss in your family. R.I.P.

Did not go to train meet last week end but did not miss much I am told.

I heard they fired up UP 4014 Big Boy for a test.  They are using the tender from the challenger which is already equiped for oil burning engines.  The Big Boy was converted from coal to oil.  Heard the price for tickets for an excursion on that thing is $3000 for coach and $5000 for a dome seat.  All I can say is mark me off.

Mornin' boys.  Overcast and 57 along the Alleghanies front range.  Need to do a little work at the railyard this AM, then the youngest princess wants prom shoes.

My no-carb diet hit a pot-hole last night, as Wifey made her Tuscany shrimp dish.  Back at it today.  It is working.

Hope the YORKIES are having fun.  With y'all in spirit.

anjdevil - If you run for Chief, that may lead to confusion here.  Just saying...

SPMan - Get well.  Gonna have to research the UP prices.  There are enough enthusiasts world-wide, that they may sellout.

Chief - (Not Richie.  See, it starts...)  My O's have hit the skids.  Woof.

Hello there,

man the place is desolate.

Copied this from over there.

York

Hoping Roy or Sir James can add names.

Slept late then a trip to Lancaster for outlets, lunch .and Mass. Then back to the camper for Surf and Turf. Shrimp from the grocery store, Delmonico from the freezer along with cabbage steaks for a low carb meal. Screwed that up by having leftovers from yesterday's ice cream party for dessert.

Heading west after dinner tomorrow.

My eyes are getting heavy.

Prayers for those in need

Good evening all,

An eventful day.  Watched one grandson play very well in a 4-1 soccer loss and trucked up the road to see another grandson and his baseball team win a 2-0 game.  Wife was successful in buying a dress for daughter's wedding.  Went to Mass to hear other daughter lead church choir.  Came home to watch 2 more Hill Street Blues and to find out Foyt team had a miserable day qualifying.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Good Evening,
Looks like everyone had a good time at York!  That is REALLY great!  And SJ even got some ice cream, and even Lemon, that is really cool.  I'm sure he is saving it for the next train club meet.

I've been really fortunate, I had a couple of engines that need some help, a MTH Climax, and a Premier NYC Switcher.  As a result of a previous referral from Doug (DG), one of the guys in the SD 3 Railers, I was able to hook up with a guy in San Diego area.  I took the engines to him earlier this week.  I thought they would both need Tach Strips, and they did.  He also found some cold solder joints at the teather connection.  Then on the Climax thought the smoke unit was very noisy, he ended up needing to replace the motor.  Not what really impressed me, he showed me a couple of engines he had just finished repairing.  I've never seen anyone a meticulous as he is in cleaning the engine, and addressing detail.  Talked with him today and he has both mine ready to pick up.  So will go and get them either Tues or Wed.  Then plan to stop in and visit Doug while I'm down there.

As a side light Ted (the repair guy) gave me a couple of tips on cleaning engines and track.  So I wanted to get some Denatured Alcohol, checked around here and nobody has it!  Come to find out it has been banned in LA, Orange, & Riverside counties that I'm aware of.  I know there is more, Napa etc.. So I posted a thread on OGR looking for an alternative, turned out to be an interesting exchange of comments.  (Somewhat expected).  Anyway will pick some up when I go and get the engines, its available in San Diego County.

Roy, HOPE you taped the Richmond race, not at lot of caution flags, but some fantastic racing!  I really enjoyed the race.

Situation with In-Laws hasn't changed much.  Pretty much taking all of Kay's time, he's been in the hospital for the past two weeks, possibly being released on Monday.  MIL barely holding it together.  But it is what it is, just have to cope.

Prayers for those in need, and stay healthy and be safe!

Don

We have had an all day Sunday rain with a high of 39. No snow for us.

The home made Lemon ice cream was very good. It arrived at my house packed in evaporated dry ice but was still firm enough to use a spoon. Glad that everyone arrived home safely.

Hello there,

back from York. A little over 5.5 hours including an hour to eat and a short tour of downtown Harrisburg when I ignored the GPS directions.

BIL's nephew has been helicoptered to Pittsburgh. I know no details other than a 6 to 8 hour surgery tommorow.

Rain a lot of the way.extremely warm and humid. We are under a tornado watch till 3AM. Pretty unusual here but not unheard of.

Only got the necessary stuff out of the camper tonight. Tomorrow is another day

Bed calling.

Prayers for those in need

Sunny and in the 50's today.  Seems that the dog preferrs the cooler weather when we go on our three mile walks.  Last week when the temps were in the high 70's, he would plop down in a shady spot in the middle of the trail and refuse to continue walking for a couple of minutes.  However, if there was a squirrel, rabbit, or cat in sight, it was off to the races!

We got the ballast finished up on the Thomas the Train layout at the museum today.  Looks pretty good.  Now it is on to other scenery items - grass, road striping, buildings, bushes, trees, etc. etc.

About all for now.

Still recovering from York trip.

Full sun and heading to the 50s, should get rid of the 3" of snow we ended up with. The temps were running at the same rate as the snow so it was melting at about the same rate it was falling. Boy if it had been just 3 degrees colder we would of got a foot of the stuff. Snowed all day. Right now the trees are steaming from the sun on the wet cold snow. Ordered a new cutting blade for the LandPride grader / scraper I use on the lane so I can be ready to work in the 300 ton of gravel I want to order next month.

They are calling for 70s tomorrow. Big Smile

Sounds like York went well.

Banks, prayers for your BIL's nephew. Angel

Aloha. Sunny and cold. 8 inches of snow yesterday! I am sorry it probably crushed my flowers though it will hopefully be gone by mid-week.  I took the bride downtown for an overnight to celebrate her birthday on Saturday and came back to take our middle boy out for his birthday on Sunday. And our anniversary is in a week - April is always an expensive month. The new room looks great, Banks!

Welcome home Yorkies!  Hope you all had a good time.

D, Baker, that repair guy in San Diego sounds like a good source for our stuff if I need it in the future.  Beats having to send it back East.

Finished my first course of antibiotics for pnuemonia today.  Starting on second batch tomorrow.  See Doc on Wednesday.

Hoping I will be well enough to go to church on Easter but playing it by ear.  Kids are talking about buying food and having Easter lunch at my place.  I used to get a ham and scalloped potatoes but not this time.

Only got about three hours sleep last night for some reason.  Sleepy now.

Have a good week all,

Ray

Afternoon All,

Not too bad out right now, 50ish.

Just watching some of the news with the Notre Dame cathedral fire, a big loss for Paris.

Like him or not, it was nice to see Tiger make a comeback at the Masters.

I hope all who attended York had a good time. My train spending this weekend was 40 dollars at Menards!!

Banks - The renos are looking good!

Have a good one and prayers.

Mornin' boys.  Sunny and...Wait, you guys got LEMON ice cream...? Sigh  I missed LEMON ice cream.

Sunday, the princesses, grandsons and I took Ms. Kelly to Massanutten indoor water park for her 50th.  It was a memorable day (got lost, almost ran her over, baby busted his chin, oldest allmost got in crash on 81), and everyone had a good time.

Yesterday took youngest to get her prom gown fitted.  She treated Daddy to lunch.

In the train room, worked on a Lemax horse drawn fire engine, and a broken truck on a 19th century boxcar.  Lionel right-of-way bridge kits came in the mail.  Starting to pull some trains for sale at the local show.

Got some sort of x-ray procedure at noon.  ????  Dr. ordered.  Starving.  Got call last night.  No food or drink.

Enjoy the day.

Windy and up to 60F later today - Sun is out .....

Trains and Things called me yesterday to let me know my HOUSE has finally arrived (Since before Christmas I've been waiting...oy!!) MTH 30-90572 for those who are interested....Looks almost like MY house!!  (Need to paint the shutters green, asphalt shingle the roof, move a couple of windows.....lol)

Checked out early, even blowing off my Relief Meeting in the process....and still didn't get to sleep until 9-930, was having an interesting converstation with a friend from Conneticut.....Notre Dame, et al

And to segue into that, that fire was a logistical nightmare....Plenty of water, as the cathedral is on an island in the Seine.... 900 year old wood....looks like the Paris FD made a successful stand at the 2 towers and saved them both.

Not much else, However, I am making plans for York in October >>>

Fife...you and Brent have been put on 6 Month Notice....lol!!!

Not much work on the layout lately because of all the classes and now Easter, but soon enough....

Gotta get back to it!!

Hello there,

Sad to hear about Notre Dame

Thanks for the prayers. Link's surgery yesterday went well. Heard this morning he is breathing on his own.

Kev.......that was the plan.

Fife.......First drag of the season is the 4th. What time does the show open. I may head down.

Saw flashes of light in my right eye last evening. Eye Doc says it is the eye shrinking and tugging on the retina. Keep an eye on it to make sure it dosen't tear.  Happens to 7 out of 10 as they age.

Best get back to it

Prayers for those in need.

You did good Banks!

Wow two days ago snow and today 77 and sun. Feels great!

Today,,,,,
Is it just me? Or do you just got to hate accounts running companies that sell “”service””? Case in point. I am going to get 300 tons of gravel for the lane,,,if the guy calls me back?? Around here it is always a crap shoot on return calls. So, in advance of that I figured I should replace the cutting blade on the ten-year-old Grader / Scraper I use to grade the lane. Good idea,,,right? So, I go to the place in Morris and order it. I also thought I should change the Transmission / Hydraulic oil in the tractor because it is 200 hours past due. So, I order the suction filter and it has an O-ring it needs to be replaced at the same time???
Well here is the outcome of two simple orders. The blade is BACK-ORDERED with no idea of when it will show up. The filter which BTW cost $82.00 for a $10.00 filter just because it is in a green and yellow box is in stock,,,but the O-ring that cost $5.00 bucks and only is worth five cents is BACK-ORDERED?????
WTH?????

 End of rant! SoapBox
