Good morning,
8N, condolences to your family. Way to young to go.
Well the mower is fixed, I found a wire rubbed through under the seat that went to the seat switch. Why it would run till I sat on it sometimes and other times not. Anyway hooked the interlock switch back up and it all seems fine.
Killed the parts order and should be good to go.
What a PITA.
We had .45 inch of rain overnight. Boy everything looks glad about that rain.
Got to pick up my uncle I got the phonograph from this morning and take him to the auction house to see what their services are. He wants to get rid of everything and move into a home. Then to the bar for lunch.
Best get moving.

Good Evening from beautiful 79°F Southern Ohio,
I slept real good today getting to bed about 0800 and waking at 1400. My Bride and I put out more herbs and flowers and Gabriel and I got her Ginko planted and staked. There was no new fill today but I did spread out what has been dumped a little more. It was sunny this afternoon and windy and they are predicting showers for later tonight continuing into Friday. This will be good for the plants we put out and will test the fix I made on the downspout drain.
Kev - The place I’m filling will eventually be topped with gravel to finish. For this year the fill topped with baseball to golf ball gravel is the goal.
Chief - stay hydrated.
Banks - I wonder what pre-war $3 would be in today’s dollar?
Brent - are you going to use the composite deck boards?
Rich - Feel the wind!
8N - may God have mercy on your SIL soul.
Good night and may God bless
Jim
Good evening all,
Semi-busy day at work. Dry weather for walk. Picked up stuff for Mini after work. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
A very happy grandpa welcomes another train guy (I hope) to the clan.
The little fellow weighed in at eight pounds, seven ounces.
Thanks for the thoughts, folks.
Congrats on the addition to your family, Traindaddy.
A pretty good line of storms moved throught the area last night. Produces some high winds and tornados west of us. Was calmed down considerably by the time they go there.
Dog and I sat out on the front proch and watched the storm blow in. This dog is a little strange - he seems to like storms. He will sit quietly and watch the lightening.
All for now.
Mornin' boys. Cloudy and 71. My AC may be on the fritz. We'll see. Almost finished high-line on the RR; need one more pergoo plank. My friend Tom is visiting today, so have to tidy up the train room.
8n - Sorry for your loss.
traingranddaddy1 -
Banks - 9?
Morning all!
70 right now and raining. The high for the day was set a few hours ago! Been cooler here than up nawth? May rain much of the day.
Have a wedding this afternoon/evening with a dinner/reception. This is one of my son's best friends since they were 3 or 4 yrs old. Lots of neighborhood friends will be there.
Traindaddy1 - congrats!
Soooo Fife - your train layout boasts great flooring? To be featured on House & Train mag? Home & Train TV?
MikeC - the mini is tomorrow? Good luck!
Regards, Roy
Aloha. Grey and super-windy outside. Hmm, I have to get the mower out - it's been on one of Chief's trickle chargers all winter. Brent, that is unfortunate about the mold. One of the light wells in the basement keeps leaking - even with a cover - and I've seemingly tried everything to find out how the waters coming in.
My condolences to you and your wife, 8N! (That's not normal dog-behavior - ours was bundled under a pillow during the storms here last night).
I feel good about today - got new plates and a new title for the Cavalier ($196 - ouch - plus the tax on the sale) and an oil change all before 830 am and the check-engine light went off with the oil change. Now I'm going to research manual crank window assemblies - can't be too hard to figure out...
Have fun at the party, Roy. I remember meeting your family in Chicago years ago - it's hard to imagine your kids as the young adults they are today!I'm sorry I missed meeting Buckeye and his bride last night - the Empire Builder was nearly 2 hours late due to a medical emergency in MN. Congrats TrainDaddy!

Nice here guys, 64 this morning and heading to 79. Was hot Tuesday and Wednesday but better now.
Wish this Poison Ivy would go away. Driving me nuts.
No big plans for today.
Congrats TrainDaddy!!!!
Early post as I will heading to bed soon to get plenty of rest for tomorrow. Weather is supposed to be spot on for once. Weather was rainy at times and for the most part comfortable. Work was moderately busy. Congrats to Traindaddy1! Grandkids are great. Spoil 'em and send 'em home. It is the circle of life. I hope everyone has a good day.
Hello there,
spent most of yesterday and today working on the porch. Taking way longer than I thought. Finally getting close.
Last evening I went over both quads and mixed gas. We're ready to go racing.
Fife.....Not gonna make the show again this year. Let me know how you make out.
Traindaddy1 congrats on your new grandbaby.
My eyes are getting heavy.
Prayers for those in need

Sunny and 75. Farms yesterday. Train meet at fairgrounds this AM. Elementary school carnival at 4. SIL and her hubby coming at 6 for burgers and dogs.
Lots of dew this morning. Calling for mid 80s, too hot for me. Should work good for the weed and feed.
Sure I will find something to do outside. And the wife broke the towel rack in the back bathroom so I guess I will tend to that as well.
Dennis, at your age eat what you want! To late to worry about all that now.
Hola, como estas ?
Dennis, It's not neccessarily the burger that ain't good for you, yeah they have cholesterol, but what you really need to watch out for is all the goodies that you pile on them. If not careful with all the condiments you can change something that ain't so bad into a 3k to 4k mg of sodium heart killer, not to mention the side dishes. We had out of town visitors last week and a half so a lot of entertaining and eating out, as a result I ended up in the ER about 4am yesterday. Far to much sodium(salt) resulted in excess water retention some of which was in my lungs making it difficult to breath, not a pleasent feeling. Eat what you want but be aware of what you eat and what goes with it. Just because you try to eat a little bit healthier doesn't mean you can't enjoy some foods that you like the key is moderation and knowing what you are taking in. In June it will be my seventh anniversary with stage 3 Congestive Heart Failure. Time to get off of the soapbox.
A little bummed out yesterday, had planned on spending a few hours at the museum but those plans went right down the toilet.
Time to track down my morning pill box.
Later all.

Early evening post. Weather was absolutely perfect today. My Daughter's replacement and I set a nice and finished with a 3:40:32 for a 3.56 MPH average. Not my best time, but not my worst and I was able to walk back to the car without much difficulty. Lots of entertainment all along the course today, which made it nicer. First time I ever saw a yellow flag on the course as the officials felt it was a little warm. I thought it was fine. Makes all the training worthwhile. Most of all, anytime you get to spend time at the World's Greatest Speedway is a good day. I hope everyone has a good day.
Good Evening from a wet 60°F Southern Ohio,
The rain is really making the trees and flowers pop and helping with the stuff we planted. We got 60 bags of mulch from Rural King and now to start getting it spread. Maybe Sunday after church. I believe the rain is to stop.
My bride is making spaghetti for supper and it smells really good. The girls have friends over and one is staying overnight.
Doug – moderation like you said is the key
Traindaddy – Congrats! Have you got a train for him?
Jim, you know I do.
Thanks to all for your "congrats".
Morning All!
Absolutely gorgeous day out yesterday (finally!) Should be the same today. I managed to get some yard work done. I lost a bunch of branches after Friday's wind storm. At least the shingles stayed on!
I'll be joining Spank and DougM in the car repair department. I need to do yet another brake job on my Grand Caravan. You can barely get a year out of the pads. It's not like I'm driving it at Watkins Glen!! Although........ From the internet chatter, it seems to be a common complaint, but Chrysler won't step up to the plate.
8N - My condolences. We went through the same last Fall. My dog in like yours. He'll sit outside during a thunderstorm or fireworks no problem. If something like a garbage bag rustles in the wind, then he's all skiddish!!
Traindaddy - Congrats!
Dennis - The bun is actually worse (carb wise) than the meat!
Have a good one and prayers.
Rob
Grandson didn't do so well at the drags yesterday.
Off to the hillclimb.
A nice cool morning but it will jump to high 80's this afternoon (Kev - yup, too hot already). Yesterday was a beautiful day. We spent the morning on the back porch with the newspapers and java. Did some chores/projects during the day and then grilled salmon and spent the evening on the back porch. Son and a friend of his dropped by and spent some time with us.
Dougnotta - good to see you hangin in there. You are right about the sodium. Too much too late and I suffer all night for it.
Dennis - I like your justification!
MikeC - glad the day went well for you at the mini!
Banks - oh well - good luck for the hillclimb?
Yesterday I sprayed 80 gallons of 2-4-D mix on the grass areas away from the house. By by yellow flowers. It was Hot, high mid to upper 80s no wind. Perfect day to spray. Hope I did not kill to many of Sandra's flowers.
Today started out cool and wet but there is full sun now and already in the mid 70s. So not bad yet today Roy..
DoudgDG, sounds like you in a helluva of a fight. That salt can get you.it is in everything.
Banks, it is hard to keep these kids focused these days. Good luck on the hillclimb.
I'm back!
It was great seeing Don Baker and his wife in Los Angeles. Their hospitality was outstanding and very much appreciated. We told a few Chief stories, too. Very disappointed we were not able to connect with Doug Murphy, but as Doug has posted, the Empire Builder was delayed due to a passenger death just outside of Red Wing, MN.

Four! 1,2,3,4. Finally finished the "high" line, and now I have 4 loops of track running at once. The pergoo strips (foam side up) do deaden the sound from the Atlas Industrial Rail track. I can run my Williams 10-wheeler and a small string of postwar cars, and they can just about sneak up on you. This makes me happy.
Had a nice visit with Tom. He surprised me with the May '18 RAILPACE, which someone you all know and love is the cover-boy. He brought his MTH GM50 to run, and let me "house" it in my train room 'til his next visit.
Train show at the Allegany Fairgrounds was nice, however lightly attended. I picked up a repainted prewar bridge. There was a good cross-section of all scales represented;in other words - something for everyone. Even 1:1 scale (CSX trains passed by twice), right outside the front entrance.
Dougnotta - I shall actually eat the celery sticks with my order of wings from now on, thanks to you. All kidding aside, I/we should heed your good advice. Please take care.
88 - Buddy, I really wish you would call in a tree service...
Hello there, it was a wet day at the hillclimb. It went surpriseingly well considering the pretty much constant rain. Son was in the middle of the pack.
KRM Todayit is hard to keep these kids focused these days. Good luck on the hillclimb

Focus isn't the problem. It's the fact at the end of last season he weighed 70lb. Now he's 90lb. We are going to try some clutching changes and redo the top end. Never had it apart.
Off to bed
Prayers for those in need.
PS. font is beginning to piss me off
Went to granddaughter's First Communion today. Long service, but nice visit with family afterward. Did some shopping while in Indy as well. Got some books and ate at Captain D's. Doctor's checkup tomorrow. I hope everyone has a good day.
Good Morning from sunny 51°F Southern Ohio,
It was a great and busy weekend. A good friend, in essence like a son was ordained into the transitional deaconate this weekend and he assisted for the first time Saturday at Mass. Sunday had two First Communion services downtown. We also bought 60 bags of mulch from Rural King and weeded beds and spread the mulch. I’ll go back this evening or Tuesday after work and pick up probably 20 more bags and that will finish all the mulching I plan on doing, but my bride may have other plans.
I never got around to replacing the cracked kitchen window, but it is stained and has three coats of polyurethane. By Friday it will be good and dry and at this point this coming Friday morning is open and I may get to install it then. I am back on dayshift so evening daylight hours by the time I get home about 7:30 pm is limited.
Fife - Good work on the layout!
Buckeye - are you enjoying retirement?
Kev - The weedkiller may me chuckle. We have two brick sidewalks from the house to the drive and as expected grass grows between the cracks. My bride is doing research and presented some “natural” weedkillers. I’m going with the roundup.
Roy - sounds like a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
May God bless
Hello There,
Pretty bummed this morning. I learned a bit ago that a quad rider seriously injured during practice at the drags Saturday has passed. I think he was 62. I witnessed the crash and knew it was bad.
Please pray for him and his family
Sunny but a bit cool. 53 heading to 76.
Not much planned for the day. Got a bit to much sun yesterday on the back of my neck cutting grass so kinda hurts and add that to the poison ivy and I got creams all over me. LOL
The son and clan are coming out later today. Grand-daughter got a new 9mm pistol for her 18th birthday and wants to try it out. and Grand-son wants to get his gift and try out the Kawasaki 110. Then pizza for dinner. Providing Russ can get out of work on time.
Fife, on my layout I used strip lights under the upper level to light up the bump track below. They work nice in tight spaces like that.
Banks, sounds like you need to move up a class in CC. That boy is growing fast!
So sorry about you friend. Prayers. You got to slow down at that age. It is not the crash as much as the recovery.
Jim, the wife has not touched the 20 bags we got from Rural king yet but like you said. I bet there will be more to come. That mulch looks nice for the money. She is in planting mode now, then comes the mulch.
I use a broadcast 16-gallon sprayer that sits in the back of the Gator to do the 2-4-D. It also has a hand-held wand spot sprayer I use for the Round-up. Only problem is seeing the overlap so I got to stay away from her flower beds. It sure takes the work out of doing the weeds. Cleaning it is the hardest part.
Tomorrow I got to get blood drawn so I am on day 3 of no beer.
Sunny anb 75. No rain as guessers said it would. Now will have to water. Farmers need it too. Was busy. Tain meet Sat and school carnival. Yesterday was busy too.
