Good Afternoon!
So, after Friday's disastreous day of work (which I got vindicated for today, I was right, for a change), spent Saturday on the Road Star, took a trip to Hawk's Nest, NY to see the Upper Delaware River. Was a great ride up and the view was spectacular!! So, here's the train connection.....
Had lunch at the Erie Railroad Station Bar and Hotel and didn't realize I was FEET away from the historic Erie Railroad Turntable and Museum. I was with a group, so I wan't free to roam, unfortunatly. I highly recommend this trip, I'm thinking of going back up on 2 wheels solo, and maybe stay the night. Oh, I did run through Deer Park, NY but the water is not bottled there, lol...go figure.
Sunday was a bit of a wash out, had 2 water rescues, people shouldn't drive through deep water....then 2 more fire alarms. Yes, all parties in the water resuces were saved and no injuries. Had a BBQ at the BILs and my Sister's house then off to a new local ice cream shop. Had time to peek in on Indy and totally missed the 600, which seems like a blessing since the wrong Busch won it from what I hear.
Monday was color guard duty at the cemetery at 0800 then parade at 0900, was done by 11. Went shopping for Cal King bedding with the Princess and we redid the front porch and the 3 season room. Much more comfortable and pleasent to be in. I crashed in bed at 1030PM after dinner from Moe's.
No much else, I need to find my gift card for Home Depot, will start putting up insulation in the next few weeks. Saturday is a pre 72 cruise in near Warwick, NY and drive in movie, the 10th is Fallen Firefighter Run locally and the 16th is the rescheduled Hot Wheels show in Teterboro, NJ. THAT show I really is hyped about!! I'll be bringing my "custom" made Hot Wheels roadrunner convertibles that I made.
Lull is over, need to go back to my scans.....

Good evening all,
Work was busy this morning, but quiet this afternoon. Did not sleep well last night so took a nap after supper. Feel human again. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,

76 degrees and no rain. Maybe some this afternoon.
Busy day ahead.
Tick spray. Permethrin. Spray on clothes and hat. I spray socks, underwear, pants, shirt, boots and hat. Not suppose to get on skin. Suppose to let it dry in. I spray night before. No odor so good for hunting. Says good for 6 washings. I still lightly spray each use. Says if unwashed, lasts two weeks. Repels and killls ticks, mosquitoes and mites.
Later.

We rolled back into Rochester last evening after having been gone for several days. The catbox was overflowing and the grass needs cutting. Its too wet now, but i gotta get it done. And i need to buy more cat box litter. The good news is that yesterday I found an old American Flyer tinplate caboose in an antique store. O gauge. It asked me take it home so i did.
Was 93 here yesterday and humid to boot. Rain from that storm headed in overnight but did not amount to much. Did cool off to mid-70s and they say the high will be 80 so that will be better than the last few days.
School is out almost everywhere next week here. Alyssa (Son's step daughter) graduated High School on the 19th.
Darn House INS went up $100.00 over last years, Now $1041 a year, What do you guys pay? I do have a 64K rider on the shed that don't help things.
That delivered real diesel I got last week was $2.999 a gallon delivered + sales tax so it was $160 for the 50 gallons. Not too bad most on road is around $3.25 for bio junk.
Thinking of taking the 4-year-old to the Rt. 66 raceway tomorrow to get him acquainted with drag racing. Sure, he will love it. The nationals are there this weekend and tomorrow is only $20.00 for me and he is free.
Fife I agree on rebuilding that town, They will never win against nature.
Jim, the best cat box is no cat box, ours goes outside. Never had a box and he will let you know when he wants out.
Chief, where do you get that tick spray? Sounds like good stuff.
Best do something.

fifedog Mornin' boys. Supposed to be dry today, so I will try to mow the jungle. We hosted a small family cook-out. My folks, 2 daughters, 1 fiance', 1 boyfriend, and fiance's folks. Good eat and greet. Perhaps they shouldn't rebuild Ellicott City. They should read Patapsco:Baltimore's River of History before they do.

Evening all,
Not much on the go. Just laying low with this heat!! 97 degrees with the humidity index. I really miss having a spring season!! I was hoping to get some outside painting done, but not a chance now.
Took the Mrs. to the hospital for her pre-admittance stuff, prior to her hip surgery in two weeks. Uggh..... I HATE hospitals!!
I guess that's it for now.
Have a good one and prayers.

Rainy day. No soccer match. Watched recording of Indy 500 Victory Dinner. Nice. Very quiet day at work. Gnome, welcome to the forum and to the Coffepot! I hope everyone has a good day.
Evening all!
Still hot as all get out. Its a dry heat!
Was able to score a same day visit to eys doc for annual checkup. They have automated everything so it goes pretty fast until you wait to see the doc, zzzzzzzzz
Brent - I know how you feel, I went for 2 years trying to get my back yard fence repaired and stained. Paid big $ but it had to get done and I am getting too old to do that level of repair myself - over 250 ft - over 500 ft with staining both sides....good luck!
Dennis - robocalls. They simply autodial every number sequentially in an area code and exchange (xxx-xxx-xxxx). Program in your known numbers and do not answer any other calls. If it is important they will leave a voicemail. Let your friends and important entities (ie docs offices) that if they call from a different # than the one you know, that they use for their office inbound calls, they can leave a voicemail and you will call them back. Once you answer a junk call, they will call more often. One nice thing about a smartphone - something to do while in the docs office!
Kev - you have it good. Here in Dallas area our homeowners is over twice yours. Texas Insurance Commission = being in bed with the ins co's...plus with all our weather disasters down here...hail, tornados, huricanes, ....
Gnome - catbox overflowing - not a pretty picture!
Regards, Roy
Hello there,
Gnome. ....didja ever get the bio to work? ?? Hope that guy gets into trains.
We had a great Memorial Day. Son took the lead and sat up the picnic. Wings, Tenders, cheese sticks, fries, pickled eggs, deviled eggs, macaroni salad and topped it off with watermelon. The kids rode their bikes and had a great time.
Spent yesterday and half of today finishing up the bucket. Still needs some paint and the teeth installed. Sons part. We replaced half of the bottom, the cutting edge and teeth. Used 5lb of welding rods, 2 tanks of oxy and 1 of acetylene, small tanks, and a few grinding disc.
A couple of pics and the grandsons turkey.
Tomorrow is mrs last day of school.
Best get to sleep.
Prayers for those in need

Morning all.
Roy were on a calling list somehow. But anyway somehow they got both our numbers and they call both at the same time. I go in and block them on both phones. It a home warranty company. I've delt with them before, and it takes for ever to get someone to come out here in Hooterville. ( as the wife calls it. ) The real problem thou is they use a different number each time, So I add the new number each time. The one when they call they get a busy signal ( that one done thru my Magicjack account) the other is done with the phone I have and I don't know what they get. But it is computer run as you get a recording to call a number or to hit a number now to talk to them. And talking to them does no good.
Not much going on here. Wife has both PT and OT here today. I'm going to start taking the tile down around the tub, for the new tub surround. That gets put in tomorrow. Probably will need to put in some new mold resistant drywall first.
Hope all have a good day.

Banks, no, when I save the bio it just disappears. Se la vie. But it accepted my signature, so it works a little.
yesterday I managed to mow the grass between showers. Score one for Jim R.
The drainage ditch i dug around the patio is doing its job, but it filled up with water. I need to extend it to avoid a backup. Digging holes in the backyard is fun.
Federal district court called me for jury duty. I have to be on call all summer. Fourth week of june till sept 12. My wife is not happy about that.
The loco i purchased on ebay arrived yesterday. It turned out to be N gauge. What am i going to do with that? Ebay and i do not get along very well.
Grading papers only took about an hour this morning. Life is good.
Check the listing, if it listed under O guage you may be able file a complaint and the seller will have to give you all your money back including Your shipping
Rtr,
no, its my fault. They did not specify the gauge. Buyer beware. I should be more careful.
Good Morning, All!!
Last the day of the month, I'd figured I get in here real quick.
Supposed to be busy here, last day of the month, nothing just yet, however....
Rain/drizzle now in the 60s and this is the weather day.
Went 1 for 2 in softball last night with a triple and 2 RBIs. The scouting report said I couldn't hit it out of the infield....guess they were wrong.
Quiet night on the fire front, hope to keep it this way for a few days.....
Big show on Saturday - actually there are a few really close by, but the major one is 2 hours north of here. We will see what the coming days hold, weather wise. I'm not driving up there in the rain....no way. Also need to get my big and little tires on the roadrunner. Handles better with the 15s than the 14s...
Gotta get back to it....
Yes but is it listed under n scale or O scale on the ebay sale site.
Rt,
it was listed under ho. I had this goofy idea that i would try to upscale an ho loco to make it on30. On30 people call that making a critter.
but the loco is smaller than ho. I am not going to complain. A few months ago i ordered a little dremel lathe from ebay on impulse. They stopped making them years ago. The thing arrived with one foot broken off due to poor packaging but also the two key pieces were missing, the dudes that hold the two ends of the piece. Other sellers had specified those were missing, which is why i selected this seller. Long story short, he refunded a few bucks but said his picture was accurate so i was out of luck on the missing pieces. Once again, it was my fault. Anyway, i am not going through the hassle of complaining. It just makes me angry and i prefer to remain calm.
Rain possible this afternoon [whats new]. The other week we couldn't get rain, now too much. NC mountains getting it bad.
Not much on agenda. Tomorrow real busy.
Have a good one.

Well at least we have fresh coffee this morning. Seems like everyone is up early. Sun and 88 today then back to the 70s.
End of May already, the nice months sure are short. Who's gonna wake up Da Chief at midmight?
S.J.
Good afternoon from sunny 87°F Southern Ohio,
At work now and the guys have been real busy all day, all the paperwork is caught up and we’re in the monitoring mode.
It was a year ago today that we got the keys for our house. The past year has flown by and my honey do list has more completed than still to do. I really like our new to us house.
I may swing by Lowes and pick up some drain pipe to reroute a downspout. It appears my patch of a drain the other day was not sufficient, or more specifically there is another hole further below grade. I found where a critter dug a burrow and I suspect it chewed through the plastic pipe allowing water to get down to the foundation. The reroute will take the downspout water away from the house. The exchange student from Spain leaves for home a week from today. He is having some friends he has made over for a party this evening and of course that means another fire in the fire pit.
Jim R - I got in a hurry and bought what I thought was a set of blades for the JD mower on Ebay and it turned out to be one blade. I didn’t get skinned but it was not the bargain I had hoped for.
Chief - I’m going to get some of the Permethrin. I spend so much time out in the yard and brush I’m getting ticks all the time.
Kev - we got a letter from our home owner’s insurance telling us that they would not replace the cedar shake roof if it were damaged, just give a pro-rated value due to the replacement costs being so high unless I get a separate rider just for the roof. They get you over a barrel.
RT - a product called durock works well for showers and tub surrounds that are going to be tiled. It is a cement board and stands up to water even better than the blue drywall.
Rich - sounds like they underestimated you!
May God bless
Jim
Jim, were going back in with a plastic surround as I need to replace some of the drywall and just want a semi easy way to do it. Also we only have one bathroom so need to not tie it up to long. I want to do a addition onto the house, and hope to add another bathroom in the process.
Yesterday was Saturday. Today was Saturday. Tomorrow is Saturday. It is always Saturday.
A little warm, but nothing abnormal. Brief rains in the pm.

The Chief needs an alarm for his recliner to get him up at midnight to start a new Pot!
Working on painting a model I made using PVC for the boiler (std guage). Bondo and Bondo pin hole filler used for gaps/seams. Experimenting with various coatings for PVC prep, primer, etc. Bought a spray can of Testers Model Maker white primer and did a test shot on some scrap. All these little clumps of paint came out! And its adhesion to the PVC stinks. Glad I tested it - would have messed up the primer coat. The best result/adhesion/surface has been from Rust-oleum gray/sandable Auto Primer directly on the PVC. Also used a Kleen-Strip Bulldog plastic prep prior to a test shot of Rust-oleum primer over that. Waiting for that test to dry but so far it looks as good as the primer direct on the PVC. Our shop painter pro recommended the Bulldog undercoat. He used it a lot for production stuff to ensure the paint stays on the PVC parts. Not much worse than sanding an entire model down and starting over!
Also ordered some G scale freight car large rivet decals (rosin dots on waterside decals) from Archer Fine Transfers to avoid having to punch rivet details into the brass pieces. Hope this works. Due to the size of the rivets/thickness (simulating std ga tinplate style rivets) of the brass sheet (.032), the brass distorts too much when punching/peening the fake rivets. I do not wish to layer a thin brass overlay to the main brass cab assembly.
Phish - glad the new home is meeting your expectations!

Went to the museum on Memorial Day, since it is normally closed on Monday the Kids Club was running the layout for the day. Was a great day for everybody but I was really tired by end of day. One of the other operators for the day posted a short videoo on YouTube, the first two trains are mine that the kiddos were running. Unfortunately later in the day the Lionel Desert Victory SD 40-2 blew the Odyssey magnet and had to be replaced with an MTH SD70 Ace.

Considering buying a gear/flywheel puller to facilitate the required repairs. They aren't very expensive, cheaper than having to pay shipping costs to get it repaired. Unfortunately a replacement motor w/flywheel from Lionel is "not available" but they do have a fix-it-flywheel specifically for this issue.
Later all.
