Aloha. It was still pretty cold this morning - yesterday's pleasant weather fooled me into wearing a too-light jacket. It helped to keep me walking briskly to work! I am so glad everyone had a good time at York. Nothing too exciting this weekend - the bride and I celebrated our 29th anniversary with a trip to the theatre to see Oklahoma - a favorite of mine, and I did some outside things. Looks like one of our cars is dead - so will have to think through that this week...

Good morning,

46 here heading to 61. Took the Triumph Trident for a spin yesterday. Need to change the oil in her. Have not changed it since 2015. Seems some gas leaked past the petcocks and got into the oil so I need to check that out.

Mornin' Fellas

My first trip to York in a few years and I can say it reminded me why I tried not to miss a trip! The comradarie was as good as ever and I think we may have had our largest gathering for a CTT Pic! I almost bought that C&O Yellowbelly Hudson from Lionel with TMCC... but I just couldn't pull the trigger. Was a very good deal, but with the pending repairs to the rental, work to do at our current house, and the pending move I just couldn't justify it. I did decide to go through the heard and thin it out a bit, so have to do that and then figure out a good site to use for selling... any recommendations?

As Fife said, we found a nice little joint along RT 30 just North of Hanover, PA. It was a microbrew of sorts with a more upscale menu than we were used to... but HOLY HECK! was it worth the visit! Always good to have a nice chat with Fife. Will definitely need to plan a trip out to WV.

HudsonJohn out did himself with the ice cream social! Had some lemon and peach icecream that was very tastey... even though the temps weren't as high as we've had in the past. That cool April PA breeze sent a bit of a chil up the spine!

My purchases were a T-Shirt for the kids (both loved them), a dinosaur aquarium car for Matthew (couldn't find a car for Christina), and a set of LCCA vehicles that will look good on display (a bit too big for the layout).

Good evening all,

Rain out for Indy car today.  Just as well as Foyt team had all sorts of problems.  Did nothing but a few errands today.  Did watch the new Jumanji on DVD.  Not as good as the first one, but ok.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Hello there,

safely back from York.

After three days on the run Mrs &I slept late. Left the campground around 1PM.

Young friend seized his fresh engine yesterday at test & tune. He was waiting on me at the house. Looks to me like a cold seize. It wasn't warmed up good enough. It'll need a new piston but I think the jug will clean up.

Emptying the camper next. I'll try to get the picture up later.

Prayers for those in need

Good morning all, hope the Yorkies did well.  I watched a little bit of the Barbara Bush funeral yesterday.  She was a remarkable woman.  Got a little misty eyed when they played some of the hymns.  I think music affects my emotions like that.  I was probably feeling the recent death of my sister and remembering the passing of my wife in February 2017.  I thought I was bullet proof at this point but I guess you never are.  On a happier note, I'm going to my Dixieland Jazz club for some happy music today.  My dine out buddy is going into one of those assisted living places for a trial run today.  They offer a 10 day trial stay.  They are very expensive as you can imagine.  His kids are putting pressure on him not to live alone any longer because he passed out recently but fortunately was around people.  He has some heart issues as well.  I don't know what I would do if a similar situation came up.  Probably have to sell the house to afford one of those places.  Mean time, keep on trucking or as we used to say keep it on the rail.  Don B.  prayers for your situation.  Have a good day all,

Ray

Afternoon all!

Made is back from York late last night. Flight was good and on time in spite of some storms in the area. Bushed. Will take it easy today.

Did not make any big purchases. Only parts for a std ga project I am working on and the bottle of light oil. Spending time with good friends was the main reason for being there! We had about 20 of us together for breakfast Friday and again for HJohns ice bream social in the parking lot Fri afternoon. Excellent as always!

Hope all are well, prayers for DBakers parents, and Lord protect Buckeye in CA!

Good Morning,

Glad to hear everyone enjoyed York.  The breakfast at Cracker Barrel looked like a big success.  From what I saw (thanks to John & Jean Fullerton), looks like everyone was ready for a fun couple of days.  Will try to send some of the warm weather to you all.  It was 84 here yesterday and suppose to be the same today, but with very unusual high humidity.  Definitely the highlights of York is the opportunity of seeing everyone, that's what makes the event so special.

Our situation hasn't changed much here, he is in a intensive PT living facility, they are working on his ability to get in and out of bed without assistance.  Progress being made but very slow.  She is still at home, Kay goes over everyday, takes her to see her dad when she is able.  Helps her with her meds, and meals.  I "think" I know what needs to be done when he is released in a couple of weeks, going to be difficult at best.

Looking forward to Buckeye's visit on Thursday, will be short so will have to have a well planned itenerary planned.  Will have the train room ready for them.

About all there is to report on from here, so have a great day and be safe.

Morning all.  67 and sunny.  Rain tomorrow evening.

Roy, that bottle of light oil costs a lot.  [I know, you were probably  working some]  York can mean bargins but the getting together with friends makes it.

Hope all have a great week ahead.

Good evening all,

Foyt team was absolutely horrible in qualifying today.  Dead last and next to dead last.  Embarrassing.  Had a good practice walk outside today.  Did 10.2 miles in 2:41+ for a 3.79 mph average.  I feel pretty good about the Mini.  Went to Mass and the local historical society dinner.  Program was not the best in the world.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Hello there,

Spent a couple of great days at York. Breakfast yesterday with Roy, John F, the Jersey Boys and the Michigan gang. Got to shake hands with Fife, Brent, Laz and many more at the CTT both.

Then a group photo and the hit of the day an Ice Cream social in the parking lot, Big thanks to Hudson John! !!

I tried to post the photo last night but Straight Talk doesn't support a hot spot and my phone doesn't have enough smoke to do Shutterfly.

My purchases were few. I got 3 pair of prewar O21 switches for a song and an early 60s Mantua  PRR 2 8 2 at a steal.

Breakfast is over,  soon heading to Lancaster.

Prayers for those in need .

My, my, is it York Time aready?  Haven't thought about it with all the stuff going on here lately.  I went every year for a while when I was still working.  Went one time after I retired.  Wish I knew about all you guys back then.  My favorite spot was the old yellow hall.  I guess that is the orange hall now.  Made some train trips from York back then.  One to NYC and the other to Washington D.C.  I need to either start playing with my trains or sell them.  They are just collecting dust now.  Hope all have a good time at York.

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 34 along the Patterson Creek cut-off.  I will be hosting a pack of Boy Scouts on the train today, whom are riding up to Frostburg, then biking back down to Cumberland.  Should be fun.

I had a great trip to YORK.  Had a nice visit with my best friend (and former car partner) and his lovely wife, in Stewartstown, before heading to the fairgrounds.  It was so good seeing some old Coffee Pot faces, and some new ones (sorry, didn't get everyone's forum names).  Hopefully whoever posts the group pic and give us a roster.

My big purchase was a nice padded LIONEL bar stool, for my new train room.  Also picked up a Hamm's reefer (Lionel), new speakers for a couple of MTH engines, an arch bridge for my AF line, and another O42 LH switch (hand-throw).  The "oh man, if I had the money" non-purchase, was a Weeden alcohol burning power generator dated 1894.  It would look fabulous next to some industry on my layout, but at 300 clams I had to walk away.  Oh well.

As an aside, I found the PW Lionel stuff had certainly risen in prices.  But if you were buying G scale, bargains were a plenty.  AF prices were about the same.  Met the artist David Tutwiller in the orange hall.  Love his rails and sails oil paintings.

Had a fine dinner with Brent along 30 West (thanks again brother), then got home around 2130.

Good Morning from sunny 50°F Southern Ohio,

My bride is going to Cincinnati for her 40th class reunion from Good Sameratan Nursing School.  Hopefully going to get some grass cut.  I also need to take the house exhaust fan down as it is on the fritz.  It is under warranty so I'll see if it is something simple otherwise it will be shipped back.

Hope you guys at York have a good time!

May God bless

Morning,

As per Doug,,,Snow covered ground again with full sun.

 Have fun at York guys.

Wife's car bill was $2649. I talked them down to $2254, dealers suck!!!!!! $125 an hour for labor!!!!!!!!!!!!! Angry

Doug, we have those gutter guards on this house. As you know it is "in" the woods and I have never had to clean a gutter in 12 years. Worth every cent.

Aloha. As Kev says still pretty cold but at least the sun is out. Lotsa ice to pick my way through on the way to work and all the lawns are snow-covered in the suburbs. Guess that'll delay fertilizing the lawn a bit more. I'm having a guy come out to give me a quote on cleaning the gutters and putting some caps on them - I don't trust myself to do that way up high any more. Condolences on your sister's passing, Ray.

Good (very early) Morning from wet 50°F Southern Ohio,

It was beautiful this afternoon when I got up, mid 60’s and sunny.  I am going to put a loop of three rail around the AF test track I have.  There is enough room on the plywood and still have a small crash zone.  I’ve been meaning to add it for some time now since I now have the 3 rail Marx as well as the 2 rail AF, and the 570 will need to be tested.  Did a little more waxing on the truck and picked up an inning of Gabriel’s baseball game before going to work.

Doug – Thank you for the lead on Backdrop Warehouse; it is exactly what I’ve been looking for, now to decide which to use!  I’m partial to the mountain/ rolling hills from Tennessee.

Banks – Just about every other camper failure is merely inconvenience, but tires and bearing failures can be really bad.

Safe travels for those going to York!

Good night and may God bless

Jim

Cloudy and 33 with snow on the way here.

SS payday. Off to Krogers later. Maybe they will finish up wife's car today. Huh?

Paradise?  Guess I will take this cold, clean air. Wink

Good evening all,

Got the blood draw and the shot without much incident.  Dishwasher is installed.  Left the old one outside and it was gone in less than 3 hours.  Yeah!   Did go for a walk outside.  Averaged almost 3.3  MPH on a hilly course dressed for cold weather.  Got my starting spot on the grid for the Mini.  Not as good as I hoped, but better than it should be probably.  Back to work tomorrow.  Condolences to Ray and his family.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,
