Last Day of April........

Banks - Good news on the Bull......

Thanks for the Happy Birthdays!!

Cloudy and in the 40s now.  70s and 80s later this week.

This guy wanted my old Acura 3.5RL SOOOO bad he needed to see it Friday night and, of course it would not start.
Saturday I spent the afternoon charging the battery and trying to find out why it has a dead miss in it.  I replaced all 6 spark plugs and it runs great, still needs an alternator.  So he was a no show on Saturday but he called.
He wanted to come Sunday and initially I wasn't going to be home, but plans changed and I called him and again no show.
If by the end of the week I get nothing, I'll get an alternator from Rock Auto for $125 and get someone to install it.  Then it'll be a great car not just a nice car.  Hell, the timing belt and water pump was already done.

Sunday I stayed home and cleaned house with the Princess.

Saturday we went to see the Avengers and the kids bought the goodies, movie was great!!! and afterwards we met my sister and the tavern down town.  My sister in law's Mom passed away and she lives in Columbia.  So my sister is planning to go there to support my SIL.  My brother's plans are up in the air, since he was supposed to go back to Kabul today.  My SIL's cousin is Sophia Vergara and her character in Modern Family is based off of my SIL's Mom.  Met my SIL's Mom twice, and she is a character for certain.  I wish I spoke Spanish, I liked her....

Bought a FEC Bay Window Caboose and a NY Electric Trains T-Shirt for my Birthday.

Softball tonight, not sure of tomorrows plans, Wednesday night is County Fire Memorial Service an I'm in the Color Guard.

I am the monster in your head...And I thought you'd learn by now, It seems you haven't yet.

Evening all!

83 today and a very nice breeze. Spring is here and the dandelion crop is doing great!

Fife - One of my best friends dad was into speeders. He had 7 or 8 in various stages of repair and/ or running. His wife gave them all away to their old club friends to get them out of the yard!

BBQ'd some chicken tonight and sat out on the porch with some adult beverages. Son joined us. we had a nice chat! Great evening for it.

MikeC - sounds like you had some nice visits with your kids/grandkids!

Regards, Roy

Banks - I need to get a Shutterfly account, to be sure.

It's a little more complicated than Photobucket but I figured it out.

Sayyyy...is that show in Cumberland next Saturday?  I might be able to squeeze it in before the dirt drags if it opens early enough.

Good evening all,

Sorry I missed Saturday's posting.  Got home late Saturday, sat on the couch and fell asleep.  Reffed a wild 7-6 soccer match Saturday, then wife and I went to see Lucas, his wife, and Rosalie Rae (Choo Choo).  All are doing well, RR is tiny.  I forgot how small they are.  Went to Mass over there.  Stopped in Bloomington on way home to see younger daughter.  Watched some soccer today and then pruned some honeysuckle.  Nice weather both days.  Supposed to be really nice for Mini.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Evenin' boys.  Chilly day in the Alleghanies.  The RR hosted a caravan of 38 track speeders today.  These folks were all a part of a club, and most had complex trailers to haul these little putt-putters along.  Once up at Frostburg, took 3 different spins on the turntagle to get the all going the other way.  Then I drove back to Cumberland to perform my regular duties on the daily train.

Realy wanted to finish spray painting some bridges I've been working on.  I used Krylon red oxide primer on the old 40" Atlas through-truss, and BABY does it look sharp.  Too cold to spray today...  It turns out I have a dozen bridges on the new layout.  Buckeye will have a field-day the next time he visits.

The turkey just showed up, after dinner.  Smart bird.

Evening all!

A warm 84 this afternoon. As of yesterday we had fallen to 5th coolest April to date in 120 years. Month is not over yet...

Good day today. My son's best friend is getting married next Friday. The grandmother organized a "ladies" luncheon today, so the men organized a day at a local shooting range. So my son, I, and the groom to be plus some of his cousins and an uncle spent the day shouting trap and sporting clays. Had BBQ and a private shelter. I hit one clay the entire time. Cataracts spoil my vision but had a great time with friends. We spent a lot of years with scouts, camping together.

Ray - that sounds like a fun event!

Good evening all,

Yes, Thursday I did both the walk and mowed the yard.  Today just did the walk at noon.  Very quiet day at work.  Watched a good episode of Blue Bloods tonight.  Weather is good.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Don, great picture of you and Buckeye.  Hope his cruise goes well.  Kev that is an amazing record player.  I would love to hear some of that music.  We have something here once a year featuring roaring twenties music and attire.  Some guys put old time wind up record players in the back of vintage pick up trucks and play music form the twenties.  The quality was surprisingly good.  S.J James, condolences.

Went out to breakfast today with my two train buddies.  We do it every Friday.  Big doings this weekend at the Filmore and Western Railroad near here.  Featuring their 2-8-0 steam engine hauling passengers.  I would like to go there sometime and stay overnight but local motels fill up fast.

I don't know?? I am still looking for the elect cord.  Laugh

Nice out today, mid to upper 60s and mostly sun. Farmers are going like crazy.

Cut some grass today, first this year. Way late, boy it is dry for this time of year.

Nice picture Don and Buckeye.

Banks, hope the Bull gets better.

Too nice to be inside.  Later!

Banks - so this is a new one - prayers for the bull Angel (not to be mistaken as prayers for the Chief!)

Hello There,

Thanks for the Prayer. The Bull is much better this AM. He's walking more and eating. Another dose of Penicillin this PM and he should be fine. We'll give him a week or 2 and he'll become a steer. The hiefers are getting big enough there could be a problem.

Confirmed yesterday I should recieve my 1st SS check June 20.

Kev.....nice unit. There used to be a box of those Edison records in the attic. Not sure what ever happened to them. Wouldn't surprise me if Mom tossed them..

Weather isn't looking good for test & Tune at the hill tomorrow.

Best move on.

Mornin' boys.  Wet and 50 along the Patterson Creek cut-off.  We ran an Arbor Day train for local high schools yesterday, now today we have to mop the cars.  Too many forgot their manners and had feet on seats as well.

Anjdevil Happy B-Day

KRM - Where do you insert a CD?

cheapclassics - Congrats Grandpa.  You and Lucas have come a long way.

Banks - No bull.  Chief doesn't like the competition.

Great pic of Don and Buckeye.  Retirement seems to be treating him nice.

Good Evening #II

Two posts in one day for me, wow!  Wanted to make some comments that didn't do earlier, took me too long to get the Buckey post done.

Mike C. - As you normally post in the evening, did you do the walk, and mowing today or tomorrow? I got mine done yesterday.  And more importantly congratulations on the grand daughter!

Banks, Living on a farm you sure have to be self reliant!  Good job with the bull, hope fully recovers.

RT, You're probably but ehre would of also been a chance the SP's may have over heard and we could still be done there.  Glad Donna is doing better!

Rob, I certainly understand your disappointment.  I purchased probably 6 or so, and did the upgrade.  My only issue was that by the time I installed it and then ended up with a engine that I had close to what it would have cost if I would have bought a new one.  (Selling the older engine and $ of upgrade.)  And the new engine was typically higher quality and much more detail.  (The ones I updated were mostly MPC era.)  I did do a couple for sentimental reasons.  Hopefully maybe someone will come up with something to fill the void.  But can understand Lionel's position as well.

Kev, That phonograph is absolutely awesome!  I've never seen one in that kind of condition.  You certainly have many hours of interesting listening.  What a FIND!!

Anjdevil, Sorry for the belated birthday, but sounds like you had a good time.

SJ, Sorry to hear about your families loss.  That is horrible so young.  Glad to see you made it to York and had a good time.

Roy, The Buckeye visit was great, I think you may be having some cooler weather coming.  Hopefully NASCAR will have some good weather this weekend.

Hope I havn't worn everyone out, have a good friday!

Hello there, on the go. Belated Happy Birthday  to Rich. Condolences to Sir James and family and congas to Mike C on the new grandbaby.

Monday installed new service at the hill to replace the one on the broken pole.

Tuesday had to wait for a call from the inspector to meet him at the hill.

Yesterday son discovered the new bull snotty, coughing and not eating. A call to the vet resulted in a trip to Tractor Supply for penicillin, syringes and needles. After son got off work at 11 we gave him a dose.

My heart sank first thing this AM as I found him lying flat on his side. But then he rolled upright and looked at me. Much better this evening.

Sounds like Don and Buckeye had a good time.

My eyes are getting heavy.

Good Evening,

Had a really great day today!

Met up with Buckeye this morning.  He had texted me concerned about potential difficulties the Chief may have created with U.S. Customs for him re-entering the country at the port.  I told him not to be concerned just don't mention the Chief's name and he should be fine.  15 minutes later he texted me he made it through OK and would be outside the terminal as soon as he got dressed.  Said while standing in line, customs required a strip search, but he made it trough OK that there was a riot forming in the visitor waiting area.  However that riot was NOT as bad as the one in Nicaraguara when they were there.

So we made it too my place (he rode in the back where all the windows are tinted.)  Notice the 2016 hat!  Duh !!!

Got him and his lovely wife, (Kathy) back to the ship safely.  Had to walk him to the gangplank, he kept trying to board the USS Iowa, which was moored directly in front of the cruise ship.  Then Kay and I went home and did an inventory in the train room, everything SEEMED to be in tact.

Overall very fun day.

Don you where lucky. But then all you had to do was call him Chief when you took him back and they would of given him another good shake down/strip search.
