Afternoon All!

Wow. What a beautiful day!! Sunny high 60s. Perfect. I should go for a bike ride rather than sitting on the computer!

Glad the gang had fun in York. Nice pic. I'm shooting for October if the CFO will sign off on it. Big Smile

Rich - Happy Belated Birthday! Well, my Leafs are joining your Devils on the golf course. Sad

Kev - Nice phonograph!! Just one question........ I didn't see where the iPod docking station is. Laugh

MikeC - Congrats on number 6!

Don - I for one am disappointed that Lionel pulled the plug on ERR. I still think there is a market, even if not huge, for those components. Have a good visit with Buckeye!

Have a good one!

Good Afternoon!!

Thanks for the birthday wishes, guys!!

Had a small celebration with the family, it was very nice with pizza and cake.

Sunny and 63F with wind.  Waiting on one of my "presents" from Holly Beach to arrive.  I'll have some nice rolling stock for my PRSL engines!

Not much else, just riding the tide until Saturday, going to see the Avengers after breakfast with my Princess......

Nice pictures from York, maybe October....

Check back when I can!!

Good Evening,

WOW KEV,  What a great fined!  I'm envious, looking forward to the pictures !!

All ready for Buckeye's visit tomorrow, will be short, but sure we will have a good day.  He is on a cruise through Panama and up to Seattle.  He and his wife are cruising on the Norewegian Sun.  Kay and I were on the same ship when we went to Alaska.

Everyone seems to be in a big crisis over Lionel dropping Electronic Railroad products.  I can't imagine it represents very much in their revenue stream.  And the issues of component availability is for real.  IF there is much demand I'm sure an alternative would be developed, assuming the licensing would be obtainable, but a new patent wouldn't be too hard to get either.  Still a costly start up.  I've upgraded a dozen or so engines, it definetly is a good product, but not really a significant demand.  And purchasing a new compatible engine with a command capability, in my opinion is more cost efficient. SoapBox

Well wish me luck, I hope some of the trains will run tomorrow.

Take care all and stay healthy.

Good evening all,

Great find, Kevin!  Grandparents had an old Victrola.  It was too big for any of us to keep so it was sold.  :(  I do have some good news.  Lucas and his wife have a baby girl, Rosalie Rae (I know RR), born at 7 PM.  6 pounds, 3 ounces.  Came a little early, but mother, baby and even dad are doing fine although tired.  We will go down Saturday to see her.  This makes 6 grandkids now.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Well we picked up that Edison Opera cylinder phonograph  S/N 2000 of 4600 built from 1911 to 1913 so I am thinking this is a 1912. Model A Type S M. It also has a very cool stand that holds around 100 cylinders and it is all most full. Back in the day just the phonograph cost $90.00 about $2,450 today's money. Maybe missing 8 to 10 cylinders. Tomorrow I will take some pictures after we clean it up and un pack it. We have all the cylinders in a box and I need to pick a good place in the house for it. I did lube and clean the operating parts and it seems to work fine. It cane with a appraisal from 2000 that said it was worth $3,000 to $7,000. I think the cabinet is worth as much as the player. So cool. It works great now that I lubed it and the song on it right now, Kitty Cat Rag is so funny and political un-correct for today. Laugh

Time for a tub and bed.

Going to get the new shingles shot. Had the old version several years ago. Now for the new version. Free as insurance pays.

Have a good one.

Mornin' boys.  Rain and 51 along the Patterson Creek cut-off.  Off to the station today.  Wifey recovering from food poisoning (bad batch of McNuggets she thinks).  Started coming down with the aches on Saturday.  Yesterday was the first day she got back on her feet.

We have a wild turkey running around our house. (No. I don't run.)  FifeMax is determined to start Thanksgiving early this year.

Mowed lawn for the first time this year.  The dwarf red maple I planted last year made it through the frigid winter, and is blooming, as are my tulips.

Started spraypainting layout bridges; 2 black, 1 brown.  Was happy with the black ones, but the brown is too light.  Back to the hardware store.

Good (very early) Morning from overcast 55°F Southern Ohio,

It did not rain as much as the weather guessers thought, but it is to rain over night.

The replacement sash for the Anderson double hung kitchen window came today.  It looks good.  I’ll get some matching stain and get the pane ready to replace this weekend.  I never got around to removing the exhaust fan so that is on the weekend list too.  I want to swing by Rural King and get some 380 ammo just in the event we can work in some shooting time.

I enjoyed the York picture.  A handsome bunch indeed!  It is good to put faces to names.  I also like to know real names to forum names.

Pretty quiet at work tonight.  The crew worked hard and got the assigned work done early, and the area is clean, so we are in monitoring mode.

Mike - Every day I wonder what upper supervision is thinking with some of the decisions.

Good Night and may God bless

Jim

A day off. Surprise  Raining of course.  We need it.  60 degrees.  Headed to Will Allen's house.  You may know him for his featured layout in OGR and CTT.  Great guy.  Probably traveling to York next spring with me and a couple others.

Got garden spot ready for planting as soon as rains pass.

Have a good one.

I love my LG TV and it's pretty new

Well Dennis, If the picture starts to flash on and off about every second you now know what it is. Wink

Your right RT, it is a crap shoot these days.

The repair guy said it happens to a lot of them. Something about the power system being set to the max limit of the LED back lights. So what he does is replace the bad lights and reset the power to them down to a better running level. He said I won't notice any change in the picture but they should not burn out again. If they do he will fix it for free. He said it was like getting a car and just holding the gas wide open all the time. Made sence to me. We will see. Our neighbor Let me use his TV from his bedroom till we get ours back.

Morning all

Kevin I call it luck of the draw on anything anymore. I have a LG going on 4 years now without any problems, I have a vizio TV barely 2 years old and has been a pain after about 6 months. I will never buy another. I don't really like the colors, there nice but not clear and sharp like my LG or even my 10 year old Westing house 35"

Not much going on here. Donna's PT guy is here right now. No real train news going on.

Good morning,

Our pretty new TV took a dump yesterday. Came home to that. The guy in the shop said it has a back light bad, common problem $120 to fix. Won't be done till Friday or Saturday  Angry   Darn thing isn't that old,WTH? So much for LG. Bang Head

Went to Indiana with Mark yesterday and put a new door hinge pin and bushings set on his Dad's old Dodge diesel 2500.

George the cat gave me a huge pile of barf yesterday just as I was leaving to meet Mark.  Ick!

Wife got booted from Jury duty and was home when I got back. She was happy about that.

Never got a chance to look into the Trident yesterday so maybe today?

Best get!

Good Evening from wet 50°F Southern Ohio,

Back on nights.  I did have a busy but good weekend.  My grandson and I did some shooting over the weekend.  I recently got a Ruger LCP II and wanted to try it out.  I was very impressed with the pistol.

I got the 3 rail AF train of my friend running.  Like so often a little cleaning and oiling did the trick.  The trucks have the typical zinc rot, but for now they are OK.  I’ll try and drop it off Tuesday when I get up.

It was a year ago today that we saw the house we’re living in for the first time.  We’ve really enjoyed the new house and location.  We are blessed.  While eating before work looking out the window we saw deer, squirrels, so many different birds, wildflowers and trees.

I’m glad everyone got home from York.

Good Night and may God bless

Jim

Good evening all,

Very very very quiet day at work.  Walked inside today as too wet for outsife stroll.  Foyt salvaged the day with a 12th for Leist and 18th for TK.  Hopefully worst day of the season for them.  Gas jumped over 30 cents today.  Go figure.  Izombie was different tonight.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Had a good Sunday afternoon listening to members of the Titanic Jazz band, a Dixieland group here on the West Coast.  They were really good.  Our jazz club gives time to the wanabees before and after the featured band.  Some of them are good while others need to go back to the drawing board.  One guy is a good player but he plays the same songs every month.  Maybe that's all he knows.  Shared the show with my good friend and fellow model railroader Bob W.  We both go to this once a month.  Got a dentist cleaning appointment tomorrow.  Need to discuss what to do about my bad tooth which envolves an anchor for my partial.  They want me to have it pulled but it doesn't hurt so I'm in no hurry.  I put it off until after my trip back East but now will have to deal with it.  I read where dry mouth can cause tooth decay because you have not enough saliva to wash away things that cause decay.  I get dry mouth as a side effect from all the medicine I have to take.  You can't win.

DJ - Surprise That sounds scary! I had something similar happen to me back in 1989. My parents had handed down their 1982 Pontiac J2000 to my sister and I to drive while we were 'learning'. Well I was on my over to pick up some friends and while on my way up a rather steep hill the engine started rattling like a bucket of bolts. Pulled off to the side and there was a nice stream of oil running behind the car. Walked up the hill to my friend's house and called my Mom who gave me the number to the mechanic. Called him and he came out with the tow truck and hauled it away. Come to find the next day that the engine had thrown a rod and punctured a hole in the block. Glad that didn't happen at highway speed!
