Bang HeadBang Head  Wifey's car threw the light on the way to Krogers. It is code P0008. That is the dreaded timing chain code for that V6 VVT engine. Not sure what to do with it? Our daughter has replaced her's twice and the light came back on a year latter and I told her to just drive it and that has been two or three years now. Guess I will ask what it cost these days, last time daughter had hers done it was $1,600+ Wife's car has 136K on it.  Bang Head Tongue Tied

Tks Rich, yeah,,,3.6 GM

I need to check on this!!!  There was also a technical service bulletin that reset the parameters of the variable valve timing that would set the code.

Do you know the number of that bulletin??????????????? That is what I alway thought was the issue in the first place. Wink

I stopped at the dealer in Ottawa where I know one of the techs and he said it will not blow up and if I want I could just forget about it and drive it like our daughter Katie is doing. It is a very common issue with the early GM 3.6 VVT V6. They said it would be $1,500 to $1,600 depending on parts. $1,400 for labor. So I am going to think about it.

It just had a $3,500 repair where she backed it into a tree and the thing is like new,,,but at the end of the day it is 10 years old this year. I am thinking drive it till it dumps.

Evening all!

Might need to batten down the hatches. The wind is really getting nasty out there! 70-80 degrees? What's that?

Tough break for my Wolverines. I didn't expect they would win against Villanova.

MikeC - You're right. No one can say basketball is an "un-American" sport. Don't forget it was invented by a Canadian, though!! Big Smile

Kev - Fingers crossed on the timing belt..... Tough call there.

Rich - I'm happy with the Atlas O. I still use my Fastrack for Holiday layouts.

Don - Prayers for the in-laws. Yes, take Buckeye to LACoFD 127! (51) I enjoyed my visit there. Took lots of pictures and had the "5 cent" station tour with C shift. I swung by Harbor General (Rampart) too. Can hardly recognize it after the renovations.

DougDG - Prayers for you, too.

Have a good one and prayers.

Good evening all,

All sorts of bad news here.  If it wasn't for bad luck, we would not have any.  Maybe I can add a little brightness.  Took minivan to mechanic.  Gave us a real good estimate.  We are going to keep the van and pocket what the insurance will give us minus salvage.  If anything happens down the road, we are playing with house money.  If it lasts until I retire, we are good.  If not, we can still sell it for scrap.  Either way better off for a while.  Work was not as busy as I thought.  Too rainy for walking today.  Lots of flooding.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good Evening from stormy 58°F Southern Ohio,

On nights.  After a few hours of sleep I got up early and assisted at a friend’s funeral then back to bed to sleep till I came into work.  Severe weather tonight so we keep an eye out in case we need to shut down the equipment, and limit time outside.

At our new place a spring surprise was all of the daffodils that randomly popped up.  My bride really enjoyed them so I just ordered 200 wild daffodil bulbs.  I don’t think I’ll tell her about it till she sees them next year.  The existing daffodils were clustered along the drive and back in some patches of woods but none were behind the house that we see from the dinner table, and it would look really pretty.  There are already LOTS of wild flowers coming up.  Really pretty.  We are so blessed.

Brent - Congrats to the Q on the promotion

Don – I kind of understand what you feel.  My bride and her sister are the primary caregivers to their mom even though 3 of the remaining 7 also live in town, one of them less than a ¼ mile from their mom’s house.  Right now their mom is doing OK but it is only a matter of time till the next medical issue.

Buckeye – Don is a great host!

Good night and may God bless

Kev - this is the bulletin:

https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2014/SB-10052863-8590.pdf

Looks like there was a "Customer Satisfaction" recall on this a few years ago.

Brent - Big Time Congas on the Q's promotion.  Good to hear!!

Early morning, nothing going on, just waiting for the first scan of the day.

Good sports day as the Devils BEAT UP the Rangers 5-2, Yankees win as Sir Didi drills in 8 of 11 runs with 2  3 run HRs.  Flyers lost as well.

Calm now, sunny here at the Devils Southern Command, up to 50 MPH winds later and more snow later in the week........

Prayers to those in need....check back later

Rob - as far as the Atlas O goes, I'm teetering on the fence right now....lol

Mornin' Fellas

Now that the cat is out of the bag I can post more often. Smile

It took a lot of hard work and perserverance on her part, just happy she was able to get promoted at her current employer and not out of state! Thumbs Up

I haven't ordered by York pass, anyone planning on attending?

DJ - Yeah I remember Tyler's cancer scare! I thought you were still down in VA though. Apparently my memory isn't what it used to be. LOL! Glad everything worked out and Tyler is doing well. Cancer is never good. My BiL is recovering from prostate cancer and having his prostate removed. Very sobering times as my MiL passed from pancreatic cancer not long after we were married. That is definitely one disease I never want to get.

Woke up to a cover of white stuff. It will only get to 40 today. That should get rid of that.

DJ, good luck on the lights,,,,must be the season for car problems! Smile, Wink & Grin

Brent, congrats to your wife! Now you can lay back and be a house husband. Wink

Thinking of just sitting on the fence with wife's car and saving up for a 2020 Ford Bronco. I am sure I won't get crap for it in trade the way it is. So just drive it. Too bad the stock market is in the dumps and I don't see any daylight there with the things being run the way they are. So I won't be able to pull a replacement car out of that anytime soon. Guess that party is over.

The good thing is we have the new Colorado and the old Ranger we can use and wife is no longer driving that 100+ miles a day to and from work. So we will get by.

Best get going.

Neighbor Butch and I drove to the WeatherTech Factory store in Bollingbrook IL today and we both got a set of the no drill mud flaps....Nice stuff for the $86.00.  I am looking at their bed cover, but it is kind of costly compared to the Fold-A-Covers I have had on the last two trucks. Still don't know what I want to do there. All in all a fun time to two old farts.

Evening all!

A sunny but chilly 60 degree day. 70 tomorrow. Another front Friday night.

Sorry about the never ending winter up east...

Brent - I will be at York also. The NJ gang also plans to attend.

As Banks noted, it is looking good for the entire gang to meet at Cracker Barrel on the east side of I83 just south a couple miles from hwy 30 intersection. RoC has been extremely crowded last couple of Yorks due to a remodeling (in pieces as they stay open) and the NY TCA York bus crowds stopping there.

Mornin' Fellas

DJ - yeah looks like Saturday is going to be lots of 'fun'. They're starting to talk of some significant accumulation here as well. I'm hoping for a repeat of Sunday night into Monday where they were calling for 2-4 inches and we got nothing!

If it does snow, Christina is going to be very upset because it will be the second year in a row they will cancel 1st game of the soccer season. They had their first practice last Friday, it had rained (fine misty soaking rain) since Thursday so the field was a bit mushie. They kids were having a blast till the temp dropped 10 degrees in what seemed like seconds. Then there was a lot of 'I want to go home, I'm cold!' so they called practice after 30 minutes and handed out the socks and jerseys. Christina was happy as she got her #14. She has the same coach for the second season in a row as well, and she just loves him! He had her helping him show the other players moves and techniques. After practice TheQ and I were informed that Christina plans to play professional soccer when she grows up. Nothing like setting some really high goals for life! LOL!

Happy B-Day Dennis Happy B-Day

Buckeye Riveter

Dear Don,

My cousin works for the IRS in California.  Think about my reception and your future. Whistling

My Dear Buckeye, You REALIZE of course, your talking about CALIFORNIA here, and your cuz works for IRS who?  We pay them no attention here, we make up our OWN rules.  And IF they were to get in our way.  We would just bury them in Daisys and protest signs.

Boy did I ever come across a great deal!  Found a MTH DCS system with the handheld for $50.  Makes a great back-up.

Situation with In-Laws about the same, he is still in the VA hospital, she is restricted at home.  Kay is running back and forth.  Investigation is ongoing for a longer term solution.  VA will probably keep him in an on campus residence for PT, before releasing him.

Hopefully the weather on the East coast will lighten up and turn to spring SOON.

Take care all and stay healthy!

Don

Good evening all,

Happy Birthday, Dennis!!!   Brent, as you described Christina over the years, I thought to myself how intelligent she must be.  Her latest career aspiration only confirms my thinking.  #14 is also my number and when she makes it to the pro level or the national team (or both!), I will do my best to attend one of her matches.  Maybe by then the Chief will have changed his mind about that All American sport!!!!!!   LOL  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana
