Good evening,
Built a nice bonfire for me and the grand-kid Jordan but he got cold and decided cartoons were better in the house. So I have been watching the fire with a few beers. Calling for 17 degrees tonight.

Here is a good one, went to give blood, had a time slotted got there in time, some other guy with a time slotted a half hour after me was in front of me and they ran him first? Why set a time if you get there on time and they go in order of walk ins?

To beat that , get this, So I had all my paper work done on line in advance, I am in the chair, she knows where to stick the draw needle, nothing less to do but bleed right? The on-line connection goes down and they all stop dead and don't move a mussel. I ask what does a internet connection have to do with me bleeding out? Oh we can't do it if we are line down. GOD help us if something happens to the grid!!! 45 minutes later I tell them sorry but I am done here. Maybe next time.

Zip it!

Guten abend,

I have been absent the past week or so. From 2-5 Nov, the wife and I were in Rome. I had to travel there for work and since the FIL is here the wife tagged along with me. This was my fifth trip to Rome and it never gets old.  It is an amazing city and I enjoy something new about it every visit. I have been busy at work and with the usual family stuff upon my return and have had no time to post.  Tonight was the first night I was able to relax before 10 PM. Although tomorrow is a day off since Veteran's Day is Saturday, I need to go to work for a few hours.  I hope everyone is doing well.

Good night,

Joe

Morning,

Got my Red Cross RapidPass, done and will bleed at 12:30. SIL Dan is coming out at 9:00 to sit in the stand. He is bringing grand-son Jordan with him to spend the night with us.

Sealed the deal on our headstone and that is about it.

Mornin' boys.  Came down with a head-cold this week.  Figures, finally had off a string of days, yet felt like dookiedoo.  Gonna be nasty cold tomorrow for the train, and I gotta get down to the yard for a few odds-and-ends.

rt - Fifepup just got a little seasonal work at the Office Depot in Lexington.

SPMan - Angelfor your brother.  I've heard of Capt. Bill.

Good evening all,

Very quiet day at work.  Got caught up on everything, which is good.  Sun was out so it was nice for walking.  Not much else going on.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Good evening,
Got a blast of ambition today and mowed down all the flower gardens, cut the grass in front of the shed, ground out a stump on the extreme southeast trail, cleared the brush on same trail, and swept and burnt all of the leaves. Good night. Sleep
Ray, Capt. Bill is in our prayers! Angel

Good afternoon, just checking in.  It has been a while.  Got some bad news yesterday that my brother has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in the kidney, liver and hip.  Started treatment today.  They give him six months to live without treatment and two years with it providing that it works.  I am

coping with my problems but they seem small in comparison.

My brother is known locally as Capt. Bill.  He used to do

charter work for sport fishing in the Chesapeake Bay area.  He has all kinds of awards from his angling club and from the Commonwealth of Virginia.  He is an avid hunter as well.  He always took me fishing when I paid him a visit.  I will miss those good times together.  We went to Florida once too for fishing.  Saw Key West for the first time then.  We are all praying for him.

Good afternoon from Sunny 48°F Southern Ohio,

It is nice to see the sun out.  Maybe the garage door guys will show up with the correct door and get it hung today.  It has been promised for going on 3 weeks now.  I got a little more wiring done in the garage.  I could wrap it up in half a day if I could start and stay with it.  Waiting on the location of the garage door opener has had me stalled on one of the circuits.  Bride’s mom will need to have the recently installed heart valve worked on as it is not sealing.  Tonight is the youngest’s sports banquet so I’ll be leaving work early for that.  Tomorrow I have a funeral so I’ll be coming in to work late but it will all work out because I have to work this Friday to support some maintenance activities so in the end the hours should just about wash.

Chief – I feel your frustration with contractors

Rich – Getting pinned against a seat back is quite a thrill, but I gotta say, take that with a ride that handles like it is on rails takes it into a whole different league.  A friend of mine had a Subaru WRX tricked out, and that was an amazing car.

Lunch time over,

May God bless

Jim

Cold but sunny on The North Bluff today. Mowed the flower gardens all down and will do leaves this afternoon.   Roy, I stacked wood on the porch yesterday for the hole in the living room wall lined with bricks that SJ calls a "fireplace"  Smile, Wink & Grin

Afternoon all!

50's have arrived. Not too bad but damp and chilly. T-shirt and hoody level.

Finshed some more chores yesterday and so far today. Caulked some small openings. Changed batteries in the wireless security sensors (3) & smoke detector. Changed battery in the generator. Annual generator service guys come next week to change oil, adjust valve lash, etc. Straightened the back steel baffle (heat warped) for the hole in the living room wall lined with bricks that SJ calls a "fireplace". Loaded the wood rack and set up for a fire tonight in the "fireplace" - although a neighbor may invite us for dinner.

Did not sleep worth a darn last night. My butt is dragging...

Rob - nice trip!

Mike C - Angel for improvement...

Morning All!

Just got back from my four day mini vacation to Green Bay. Tough break for my Packers. It's going to be a long rest of the season...... Sad We had our first blast of snow going through northern Michigan. Ugh..

I finally had a chance to visit the National Railroad Museum while I was there. I saw an Aerotrain, Eisenhower's Command Train and finally, a Big Boy. It certainly lives up to its name! Rene did a feature on the blog a few months ago on the museum.

Tough hearing about Roy Halladay. He was a machine with my Jays. RIP.....

Going to lay low for the rest of the week other than helping the FIL install a new window.

Have a good one and prayers to those in need.

Good evening all,

Work went well for the most part.  One small glitch but should fix that tomorrow.  Cool but dry day for walk outside.  Wife talked with Lucas and his wife.  Situation still not the best, but they are talking to each other which is good.   I hope everyone has a good day.

You guys and yer German cars.....or Chevys for that matter...

I'll stick with my roadrunner convertible -- too much horsepower, too little gas milage and all the burnt rubber you can stand.  Who cares about going around corners when you can race to the next stop light...lol

Bash those sport cars if you want, but if you ain't had one you don't know.

So,

Rich,
I have had a lot of go fast in a straight-line cars. The best ones would swing a bit as they smoked the tires off. The Goat as it was built had MOPARS and many others for lunch. Always something out there faster.
The truth is even going to get groceries you got to go around corners, so you may as well have fun. Don’t never regret the 914s. They were the best chick magnets out there. Maybe why I have had three wives. Wink
You ever going to post a picture of the Road Runner?
I always thought that a AAR Cuda or a Trans-Am Camaro or Firebird would be the best of the muscel cars to have.
Cold is the word for the next few days 20 degrees below the normal. Surprise

Busy here.  Addition and Town.  Did get away for some hunting Friday afternoon and Saturday.  Crappy weather though.  Still got away.

Had to replace all the coax the electrician installed for cable.  Shorted everywhere.  Unbelievable.  Took most of the day.  Had to fish one wall.  Haven't seen sub to replace a section of hardwoods.  Suppose to come today. ????  Painters never showed yesterdeay as scheduled.  The way it goes.

Dennis, thought it never got cold in CA.  Wink

Went with Son, DIL and Grandkids to big train show Sunday.  Was fun.

Hope all OK.

Later.

Plate Rail

Evening all,

Just deleted a parragraph worth of moaning about this big ol' world.  Best I stick with prayers today for those affected by the event in Texas....and to anyone who has personally experienced terror.

Thought I'd mention while in the midst of another ERR upgrade that it was RT who got me started.  Best activity for my mental health in these troubled times.  Thanks RT!

Bruce

Bruce I find just staring at my trains on the wall, working on trains, and listening to Pink floyd is what helps me and my PTSD the most. ( I don't have a layout yet but it will be coming soon. It's only going to be 5' x 8' but it will do for now. The plans are to build a exstention to the house about 14' x 25' and that will become my train room. )

Glad I was able to help you. That's what this hobby is all about.

Mike, there are days like that,

Had a SCARE WITH THE 90 YEAR OLD mil tonight, wife called and Alice said she was home alone and had been for a long time. So we called Mark's BIL's cell and no answer. So wife went into freak out mode. I called my son Russ and he said he would do a wellness check when he got home from work. Another call to Mark and he was home from the store. So I called off the kid and told Mark he needs to check in more often. You just never know with those old people. For all I knew Mark could of been dead on the floor,  he is like 63, who knows and we are 35 miles away.  Bang Head

Good evening all,

Day did not quite go as planned.  Went to doctor.  Told she is delivering baby, come back at 3.  Go see Bad Moms 2.  Go back to doctor, told we are late, cannot get us in today, come back home, answering machine message at 1:30 saying "they" have to reschedule 3 PM because doc is still at hospital.  At least movie was good.  Spent an hour with son and daughter-in-law listening as they try to cope with issues in pregnancy.   Somedays you just shake your head.  Did get MR and Trains today!  I hope everyone has a good day.

Nice Toy run for the USMC Toys for Tots in Philly yesterday - had a great morning, missed riding the bike this year, may make up for it when the weather breaks again.

Fife - enjoy your buddy time!!

Depending on the weekend, might have to start insulating the attic and then getting the Fire Dept. Christmas layout started - I have 3 weeks...HA!

Back to the grind I'll check in tomorrow hopefully!!

It's overcast and high-60's here, just outside Philly.  A few spritzing drops of rain, but not fully raining.

Met my parents at Strasburg on Saturday for our annual Trains and Troops Weekend trip there.  I volunteer at the Museum, but also go from time to time to just be a visitor.  My Dad wore his Korean War Veteran cap, and got a lot of thank yous and questions from people who had military equipment on display.

Across Route 741, it was really neat to see folks dressed in Civil War, WWI, WWII, Korean or Vietnam War uniforms boarding a steam train.  Quite an amazing sight!

Yesterday was gloomy and rainy, but had enough dry moments to replace the headlight bulbs in my car.  I dislike how much work you have to do now to replace a little bulb in a car.  But it was only about 30-45 minutes and not as much of a hassle as I feared.

Also started to get boxes out with our Christmas decorations, as well as me looking to decide which gauge to run under the tree this year!

Morninng,

34 heading to 44 at least there is some sun, Dan was in the tree stand for the first time this year. After we had lunch we cleared the shooting lanes and made another one for the stand.

Jim Phish, the motor housing was rusted through, not much I could do but replace the shift motor. It was easy.

Prayers once again for yet another stupid killing spree this one in south TX. Time we pull our heads out of the sand and say,,"NO" as a nation we won't accept this as the new normal. JMHO  Angel  Tongue Tied

Good Morning from 50°F 89% overcast Southern Ohio,

What a busy weekend.  I finished the wiring for the lighting in the new garage.  I’m going to get some of the 4 foot LED shop lights.  I’ve installed one center light then three banks for the shop lights separating the garage into three lighting zones all controlled by separate switches.  Saturday we went to the high school girls volleyball regional finals and our team came in second.  A great match with long volleys and exciting play.  We went to the Vigil Mass in Lancaster and got to see one of my Deacon buddies.  From Lancaster and the playoffs we drove to Cleveland to the Cavalier’s game on Sunday where the high school cheerleaders (oldest girl is a cheerleader) were doing a routine during the halftime show.  Before the game we went to the West Side Market and the Cleveland Aquarium, both were nice.

After the game last night we drove home (3 ½ hours away) and it rained like crazy all but the last 50 miles.  By the time we got home last night I was beat.

Roy & Fife – sounds like you are getting into the retirement routine.  I’m sure Banks would like some pointers.

Kev – try cleaning the contacts on the transfer case encoder motor.  If the clip is broke off try securing the connector with zip tie.

May God bless

Jim

Morning gang!

Front slowly approaching. Temps still predicted to be fall-like starting Wed.

Nothing planned today...possibly a grocery run and some light chores.

Fife - enjoy your "weekend"!!!!!
