Aloha. Chilly here too but it's November in Chicago. Had pancakes for dinner last night! Really enjoyed taking some neighborhood kids (without a dad in the picture) around trick-or-treating last night. They were raring to go for blocks and blocks and it gave the mom a break. Though it was in the 20s... Got enough treaters at the home to thankfully go through most of the candy.

Rich, you had an awesome costume!

Happy November team!

Abnormal weather continues with 80's on tap for rest of the week (sorry SJ). About 10 degrees above normal.

No trick or treaters last night. Our neighborhood is mainly folks like ourselves where the kids are grown. Some have their grandkids stop by to show off costumes. We are starting to see younger folks pushing babies in strollers so there is a slow turnover happening.

Good morning,

November = winter here.

Went to the daughters last night to pass out candy while the grand-kids went to get theirs. Raided the good stuff and brought some home. It was okay but it is very cold last night at 37 degrees.

A little warmer today, cloudy and gray, already at 40 but rain tomorrow so I had better do leaves after we get back from Krogers.

I think I have a candy hangover. Ick!

Hello there,

sausage sandwiches and cole slaw for supper.

I was told the other day that Nov 3rd will be my last day. I'll be unemployed. 1st in over 20 years. I was building my garage and work was slow so I laid myself off for about 6 weeks.   I'm planning to collect unemployment as long as possible then start tapping the SS fund.

I'm thinking of buying a fan driven smoke unit for a smoke stack on my layout. Any recommendations? ?

Best move on.

Prayers for those in need.

Evening all!

Had a low key day with trips to Batteries+ (alarm system remote sensors batteries), Harbor Freight (needed a caliper that would measure a 4+ inch diameter, and groceries.

Phish - great bio you posted. Always fun when we dig into the past!

Banks - bummer, you could have picked up an MTH unit at York cheap!

Evenin' boys.  It was a nice thought.  Went to yard to do a little EPA work, and wound up giving GP30 501 a bath.  It was like washing the yatchett x 4.  Then the food truck shows up, and guess who loaded all of the perishables into the freezer.  I was supposed to pick up a breakfast sandwich for Wifey, but instead came home to her cooking diner.

There's always December...

Banks, good luck with the pre-retirement.

Chief, thanks for dropping by.

Banks, congrats on the forced retirement, been there and done that. It works just fine. Always said retire before your ,,,,dead!!!
I have a K-line Plymouth switcher fan unit in my log cabin that works fine and the K-line saw mill has another fan unit in it. I think any fan driven smoke unit will do the job for you.

Good evening all,

Busy day today.  Weather good enough for a walk outside.  Rained most of the day but getting warmer as evening goes on.  Hoping to get grass mowed tomorrow night.  After the time change, it will be weekend only work as we will run out of daylight.  Banks, congrats on retirement.  Not too many more years for mine....  Down to counting the months.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Hello there, back again.

Roy. ...you've given me an idea. How about adding modern smoke to a 259E???? I'm in no hurry. I'll get one at York in April.

Phish....why not copy that bio to your profile section? ??

Best try to sleep.

Roy, congratulations on the Astros World Series win tonight.  They did it all in the first two innings and did not score after that but they didn't need to.  The Dodgers couldn't buy a hit in later innings.  I won't be around for the next Dodger World Series if they continue at the present rate.  Last time was 1988.

Morning all!

Thanks Ray! We hope you are around for a long time!

I grew up just 3 miles west of the Astrodome. Dad took me to Colt 45 games when the team first started in 1962. I could see the top of the Astrodome being built as a kid working as a street crossing guard in elementary school (remember the long bamboo poles with a STOP flag on them that you would stick across the street). Dad took me to the Astros games as soon as they started playing in the dome. In our early teens we would ride bikes to the Dome, buy cheap outfield tickets, to see afternoon games. As a long suffering Texas baseball fan, never thought the Stro's would finally make it to and win a Series. Cool! Sweet!

I though Yu Darvish was a stupid move/investment by the Texas Rangers so I was happy they traded him off to the Dodgers. For his $100M+ package he never delivered the goods. Would have never thought he would be a critical factor in facilitating an Astros series win!

It's been a while since I posted here, but there was a lot of family upheaval.  Over the course of a couple weeks, lost two uncles, leaving my dad the only one left in his line of brothers.  This is the first week without worry and stress about sick family members, so it's time to heal.

That means taking my parents to places like Strasburg with my wife and daughter to get their minds off things, as well as going with my dad to train shops and running our Flyer, Lionel and Ives!

I'm glad to be back here.  Keep the coffee refills coming, and I'll have some of those hotcakes and sausage!

Banks, Well, the forced retirement sucks, but congrats anyways!

Nice day out here in Jersey, took a half hour for lunch to enjoy the outside today and tomorrow, as Saturday it takes another dip downwards.

Gettin' time to go look at the Christmas layout for the firehouse, I have 3 weeks to get that up and running.

TOY RUN in Philly on Sunday, I missed it LAST year but this year I'm going as long as there is no rain.  Will wind up at the Sugar House casino for food and a band and cash bar - which I will not partake in - I have two wheel to take me home in 1 piece...

Gotta go back to work

Sorry Roy - - They should have stayed in the National League....GO YANKEES!!

My NJ Devils are looking REALLY good!!

Good evening all,

Quiet day at work, but enough going on to make it interesting.  Good day to walk as well.  Got yard mowed, which frees up options for the weekend.  Last time I will be able to mow it at night as the time changes this weekend.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Yesterday I picked up a Lionel G Gauge Pennsylvania Flyer set from Ollie's for about $45.00 with the discount from my Ollie's discount card.  They're priced at $49.99.  I have a few of the Lionel G sets, but not this one and figured it was too good a deal to pass up!

Going to work out the plan for hitting Strasburg tomorrow - Trains and Troops weekend at the Museum there!

Tonight I'll probably run the little set someone in my office building here gave me last week - she was cleaning out her in-laws garage and found a 1964 set in the original box!  Nothing fancy, just the 1062 as an 0-4-0 with cars.  Still, a free and nice Lionel set!

Morning all!

Partly sunny, 70's today.

Anj - as they say, a win is a win! In this case a big one!

Banks - Thumbs Up

RoyalB - nice about the sets!

MikeC  - nice day! Also glad to hear things at work continue to be so much better after your move!

Did some chores around the house yesterday. Doing some minor wall repairs and touch up.

Good morning,

Guess wife’s car will be done today. Maybe pick it up this afternoon.
Picked up five 70# bags of tube sand for ballast in the Ranger to offset the snow plow on the front yesterday so it is ready to go. May take one out, seems a bit heavy.
Banks, draw that un-enjoyment as long as you can. Un-like many you, earned it. I never felt ashamed drawing something I paid into for so many years. And it seemed Cat was always giving me a chance to get some of it. Smile, Wink & Grin
RoyalB, Nice score on the 1964 set!
RT, No problem, The one we have in the kitchen is a first alert. And the ones at the doors for the house and shed are all industrial ones. The recall also cover most Kidde boat and car ones as well.

Hello there. ....

Royal blue. ...welcome.

Spent the last 3 days chucking prints and files along with gathering everything I'd drug in. Probably going to have to go to the office a couple hours a week for a few weeks to deal with material invoices and create ours to send.

Got tickets for the Christmas show matinee next Friday at sight and sound theater in Lancaster. The campgrounds there are either closed or full. Ended up getting a site where we usually stay in York. Gonna make a weekend of it and see the TCA museum and a Christmas museum son told me about.

Having trouble staying awake.

Prayers for those in need.

Morning all!

Slept in today. Felt good!

Banks - sounds like a nice excursion. First one as a retired guy!

It is the Ms.' Birthday weekend so the agenda is all hers. I will make some waffles and then we will go to some antique shops. Dinner scheduled tonight with friends.

Regards, Roy
