A quick roll-by inspection.  Damp and 60 in the Potomac Highlands.  Gotta head to station for some admin stuff, then over to yard to start some clean-up.

Banks - Good luck with everything you have goin' on there.

Aloha. It is nice cool fall weather downtown today. I am busy at the new job. Thinking about making some layout changes after hurting my back for the first time in my life a few weekends ago so that everything would be closer to the edge of the layout and I wouldn't have to go crawling on top of it. Praying for Bank's friend's son. Dennis, lentils can be tasty!

Good morning,
Did nothing yesterday. But like Doug said the weather here is cool and dry and great for outdoor work.
I do have a 14" diameter tree that needs to be felled before it falls on its own across the driveway so maybe I will do that today.
Doug, nothing worse than back pain. Hope you better.
Banks prayers for your friend’s son and all rest you have going on.

Hey, it's September!!

Weekend away was great, very relaxed and shoved the phone on the charger for the most part and lived the beach life for 3 days.

Sunday arrival was cool but dry, Sunday was windy and warm with a cool night and yesterday was warm.

Walked the boards and enjoyed the atmosphere at night, tanned during the day.

Going to Wildwood for convention in 2 weeks for more beach time.

9/11 related activites Sunday and Monday.

Fife - WM sceanic railroad came up in conversation last night at the line/exec meeting, as did your name, a visit is way long overdue and I'm sure Lionroar would agree.

Prayers for all in need, especially those in Texas and Florida.

Roy - congas on the retirement!

Off to see the wizard......er, boss

Evening all!

Been a very busy couple of days. Boat is out and winterized as are the Waverunners. It is sad as the end of summer is signaled when the boat comes off the lake...

Anj - glad the weekend off was great! And retirement - I've been so busy - I just moved from a paying job to --- what?????

Hey Fife - any status on the Allegheny project?

Dennis - love the comment about fiber content!

Kev - does that tree add to the firewood pile?

DougM - take care of the back!

Good news on mom. The rehab is going to keep her til her apartment is ready at personal care. Mixed emotions. Hate to do it but relieved we won't have to deal with her anymore.

No news on friends son other than is still touch and go.

Food is ready. Later.

Kev - does that tree add to the firewood pile?

I cut down a 14" and a 9" tree this morning.

Only 56 out there so I figured I would not break a sweat. Both were long dead and destined to fall across the driveway so now their gone.

Roy, I did those two trees this morning. Both were standing dead oaks for more than two years and ready to fall on their own. . I thought I might get some firewood but both were what we call Punk, where the wood turns to a soft pulp like material and will not produce any heat to speak of. So no good wood. The good news is the neighbor Jim wanted the wood for a bonfire. It will work for that just fine.

cnw1995 - Good to hear from you.  Hope you didn't hurt yourself sailing...  Perhaps it's time to pull everything up to the front 5 feet of that crawspace.

Roy - Hit a roadblock when the driver wheels had to be shipped out for additional repairs.  Work still going on though.  Will have a repainted GP30 rolling out soon.

Morning. Sunny, cool and lower humidity. Maybe, just maybe an early frost and no mosquitos during deer season.

Special prayers for those in Irma's path. Same for wildfires out west.

Had an extra busy day yesterday

No subs so far.

Haircut this AM.  About time.

Have a good one.

Aloha. Looks like a beautiful fall day. . . Boy, do we have lots of apples on the trees in the yard - I'll try to talk the neighborhood kids into coming to pick them. The bride pointed out a few wasps floating past the front door last night - I found out they're building a nest - so blasted them with the spray. I will need to go back to seal up the spot they found.  Praying for those in Irman's path... I hope people go inland if they can - so many of my FL friends weren't there during Andrew and aren't budging. Fife, I am sorry to say I didn't get to sail this season with my back and some other issues. I will live vicariously until next season.

Good Afternoon from beautiful clear 70°F w/ 50% humidity Southern Ohio,

What happened to August?  I have been busier than the crazy busy of late at work and at home.  We now have an exchange student living with us from Madrid Spain.  Really nice 15 year old boy.  He speaks English very well which makes things so much easier.  The garage build continues as the block walls are going up now.  I spent a good part of Labor Day butchering the 10 broiler chickens.  The kids including the exchange student, helped and we processed a little over 60 pounds of chicken out of 10 birds.  One of the torsion springs on the garage door broke and after a temp fix ordered new springs.  Bride picked up huge screw in the not very old tires on the van.  The screw went in sideways and I could not get it plugged so it went to the shop to be removed from the wheel and fixed from the inside.  I’ll be closely monitoring the pressure to see if the patch holds.

Banks – Nice engine! Prayers for your friend.

Kev – The previous owners of our new home had piles of limbs all over the place and it is Puck.  Like you said, great for bonfires, we just may have a fire this weekend.

Lunch time over and need to get back to work

May God bless

Jim

Afternoon all.

Finally got the date for my ct biopsy, next Tuesday. Now we can finally find out whether the mass malignant or benign. Hopefully it is the later and not the former. Eventually we may be able to get around to rescheduling the hernia repair.

Banks, That is funny. Thumbs UpLaugh

All the goodies are packed up for tomorrow. What a pain in the tush being on weight restrictions, have to pack only 5 maybe 6 cars to a tub so somebody don't yell at me. Whistling  Ain't even going to consider my die-cast 4bay hoppers.

Murph, Take care of that back.

About time for the mid-day meds.

Later all !

Edit: The BetterHalf and I talked to her B-I-L a few minutes ago. He made the right choice and departed Port Charlotte, via I-75, in the wee hours of the morning to get away from Irma and whatever Josie decides to do. His first overnite stop was Macon, then on to Atl and fight traffic for 2 hrs. Next bottleneck Chattanooga an 1 1/2 hr to get thru. Heard from one of his friends who also flew the coop that there were no motel rooms available between Port Charlotte and Tn.

Good evening all,

Busy day at work.  Good weather for a walk.  Quiet evening at home.  Stur-fish, does your exchange student play soccer?  Could he play on your local high school team?  Cool beans that you are doing that.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Doug, I have a sister who lives in an assisted living place in Port Charlotte and her daughter is not far away.  I am worried about them too with Irma on the way.  I'll try to call them tomorrow.

Cold here, had to run the heat to take the edge off the house when I got up.

Today is the grand-daughter's birthday. Where did seven years go? Party tomorrow at their house.

No other plans for today.

Aloha. Wow, was it dark today when I got up, drove to the station, got on the train, got downtown and walked to work - then i could see a glimmer of light. It's that of year again - soon I'll be walking back to the train station and coming home in the dark too.

Praying for a benign biopsy, Doug.

Ray, I hope they leave Port Charlotte. I am trying to convince some friends in South Miami and Jupiter to come all the way up to visit us for the next week or so.

Happy bday to your grand, Kev. It goes by fast, doesn't it?

Mornin' Fellas

Seems I lost my map and couldn't locate the forum for a week... been very mild here for the past 2 or so weeks. Not supposed to get out of the 70s for the foreseeable future. I'm OK with that.

Christina started 1st grade on Tuesday! She loves school, hope that continues. Missed the bus this morning, I swear that lady can't keep to a schedule. Bang Head

Banks - nice pic

Kev - I had to drop a 50?ft Oak last weekend. Got her down a bit off where I wanted and took out some limbs on a nice young maple. Sad As I was cutting it up I noticed 4 more trees that are dead tops that need to come out. Need to talk to the neighbor as 3 of them are between our properties and the safest path for downing them are into his back yard. I'll drop the other either this weekend or next.

Heading to State College tomorrow to see PSU demolish Pitt. Been a long time since I've been up for a game and it is a 3:30pm start.

Prepping for my trip to Dallas next week too... then TheQ's trip to Germany the following week and her trip to Orlando the week after... how she does it I'll never know. Just hope she doesn't wear herself out... want her around for many decades to come.

These are the bomb for inside patching. Both a plug and patch. They are great. You pull them through the tire from the inside once you have the tire off the rim.

Brent, After years of felling hundreds of trees, a 50'+ oak will still make me pucker up at break away.  Surprise

Kev Never saw those but they should work.

Sun and 60s today, no 70s till next week.

Tried to get my wife's sister to leave Naples 3 days ago but she gave excuses for everything I said. Doesn't make sense as they live in a rented furnshed condo. If they survive we will hear how awful it was for months to come.

S.J.

Around noon today they heard that there could be a 9 ft water surge where they live so FINALLY decided to leave.

Hello there,

Glad to see everybody is taking Irma seriouslyPraying for those
in Florida

end of another week. Mom is....Mom. she's really not
happy at rehab. She had an incident at therapy on Thursday
that will probably keep her longer. She became unresponsive
for a couple of minutes, stuff she did at home. They blame it
on low O2 and put her on O2 continously. I blame the low O2 on
shallow breathing due to being unresponsive. Anyhow.....she's
not a happpy camper. She dosen't know when rehab is complete
she's moving to a personal care studio apartment in the same
facility. Hate to do that but at least we'll be able to plan
things without worrying about who's watching Mom and sleep at
night without th baby monitor.

Ordered York passes last weekend.

SIL spent some time making clutch adjustments and gained a half
second consistantly in 500 feet. We'll find out later today. Got
a couple boxes of maters to can after the Dirt Drags today.
Hillclimb tomorrow.

Got 5 trees in the Yard that need to come down. Since I still
can't do much I'n Hoping to get some friends here and have a
tree cutting party one weekend this fall

Best move on. Soon be time to go to the races

Prayers for those in need
