March weather so far this month. Lot's of rain, in the 40s today. Tiger home opener this afternoon. Our club meet tomorrow evening.
S.J.
Edit: I just browsed the new MTH ready to run catalog. Everything is over $400.00 and has no transformer or controler. You will need a hand held wifi device or buy the seperately sold remote commander listed @ $59.95. that will bring a take home set to the 500 dollar mark.

Evening all.
Nice day today so spent the afternoon digging up and rebuilding a broken sprinkler valve. Unfortunately took 5 hrs as it is difficult to access all the brass valve body bolts and I had to completely dig up the valve box and make a pretty large hole to access all the valve top bolts. The black gumbo muck is hard to dig in and below grade it is very wet/gooey. Also had to clean up the body and top and install a new rubber diaphragm and solenoid.
SJ - yep, all the train guys are pricing a bit over the top. Stops me. Have a great time at your train meet tomorrow!
Regards, Roy
Evening all. Got a mystery box in from Menards today. All in all very pleased with my purchase. Slightly damage Seed & Fedd building ( when you buy these you know they are returns for one reason or another. ) missing people and a piece that looks like a pipe from a part of the building that's above where the truck is parked. The truck is missing one side of the rails for a stock body. I got a army boxcar with one coupler that won't lock in place, The flat with the bus on it needed the wheels put back in the truck, the Bulkhead flat with logs needed a set of wheels also put back in place. Then got two automobiles and a camo ballcap that has MENARDS on it.
Other than that not much done around here today. Need to work on the garage door some tomorrow.

Good evening all,
Spent a pleasant afternoon at the Indianapolis Museum of Art viewing the Audubon print exhibit. Very well laid out. Did some retail therapy at Barnes and Noble as well. Came home and saw the practice results at Long Beach. Could be a long season for the Foyt team. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Hello all
A night off from VLBI, so it is fairly quiet right now.
SJ - I rarely buy anything new because of the pricing. Plus a lot of the electronics in the new stuff doesn't seem to hold up. Both are probably why I really like my Marx stuff!:)
Went ahead a finally ordered new front shocks for the Corvan. Since I am driving it more now I decided to take care of the 'bouncy - trouncy'. Clark's sells an adjustable model which worked good on the rear so that's what I got. I also ordered a set of repro side mirrors they sell. The import 'west coast' truck mirrors I have on it now don't really adjust well because of the door design and make the van look like it's got chrome elephant ears:) They were free from a club member however and will go back to him or go in w/ the club stock.
Found that Marx made a pretty neat crane car in the 50's or 60's. Decided to give the AF set I have w/ a crane car to my brother for his birthday. He got my grandad's AF and I got dad's Lionel set. His AF engine needs reversing unit work, so this will be something he can run until I fix that for him someday.

Mornin' boys. 'Tis National Day. I fully intend to make a 3-day weekend of it. Gonna spend some time with Fifepup. If nothing else, I can celebrate having Raytheon in my portfolio... Spent yesterday installing tables in one of the diner cars. Came home to supper with middle princess' new boyfriend. Nice young man. Wifey is already picking out venues...
Afternoon all!
80's today, sunny, and extremely windy. Nice.
Operational test on sprinkler was successful. New valve box installed and buried. Glad that is done. Need to replace another valve box with a larger one. Next week.
Fife - you be Jack-o'-all trades at the RR eh?
Reffed 2 soccer games today. Both ended in ties. Watched Chelsea pummel Bournemouth 3-1. Mowed the yard as well. Foyt team has another disastrous qualifying session. Indy 11 tied again. Got the latest TCA quarterly. Very good issue. Will do practice run tomorrow outside as it is suppose to be near 70. I hope everyone has a good day.
Another quiet night w/ no VLBI run. At least the VLBI folks get to catch up on sleep.
Found something interesting and useful on the bay. Most of our buses use a latch w/ a tapered square key to open the outside compartments. Originally one came w/ each bus and was stored on a snap on the steering column, etc. Out of the 30 some odd buses we have? None of them has one. All got pocketed or lost years ago. Mark, who is one of our volunteers and a former Tucson bus driver, has the only one I've seen. Couldn't find anything at the used tool shop either. Found someplace in England that sells a pair for use w/ trailers that look like the right size. A fairly inexpensive price considering it's being shipped from overseas.
Running a train w/ a smart phone? You know they say 95% of all 'smart' phones are used to play 'dumb' games...:)
Hello there,
breakfast over, fixing to take a nap before heading to St Vincent DePaul for chicken barbecue.
717 paid Friday night. Average for 6 weeks is 733. One more to go.
Ended up working most of yesterday. No tree cutting. Mrs has a nasty cold. I ended up sleeping a lot after I got home.

Take care.
Hope all had a good weekend. Talk to you all later, worn out from today activities.
Buckeye - OMG. Prayers for the best outcome on all that...!
Day got knocked all out of kilter from the morning on. Mass lasted forever as they have the kids do the Passion. I suppose it is more descriptive than a reading, but after so many years, it gets just as repetitive. Maybe I am getting grouchy in my old age???? Got a late start on my run and it was so windy outside that I only did 3.6 miles in 1:01. I was just walking and it seemed kind of a waste of time. I did listen to Long Beach and Munoz brought the 14 car in 7th while Daly struggled all day but got a 15th. Quite frankly it was a better result than I expected. Picked up a huge pile of sticks. Got a request from my Norwegian soccer friend for my address. Maybe I will get some wedding pictures? Weather was warm but windy as I mentioned before. Back to the salt mines tomorrow. At least it is only 4 days. I hope everyone has a good day.
Evening All!
Been doing well, got new tires on our cars, and even got the extended SMOG test done on the El Camino, and it PASSED! Yesterday got the taxes taken care of, no great news there but not bad either.
Today worked on repair of the damage sustained from the "Fall of 17" in the train room. Really shocked for the amount of damage, some very minor scratches, wheel sets "popped" out of some trucks, and some minor details broken. And they were all glueable. I was REALLY lucky!
Sorry to hear about your discomfort Buceye! Hope the procedure goes well and recovery is quick!
Congrats to the "Grandpa Chief" great looking baby!
Roy, since you're all checked on the valves and irrigation systems, I've got plenty here you can do. Just point that rebuilt Scooter west, (I'll pay for the gas.)
York's getting closer and closer, looking forward to seeing everyone!!!
Have a great day and be safe! (Especially Fife, it can be trickey and dangerous, don't relax when on the job.)
Don
Well we are VLBI-ing again tonight. Will be a 14 + hour shift.
For some added fun my debit card got hacked. Someone in PA and then Vietnam tried it on for size. They were only into me for about $30 bucks before the bank put a stop to it. They declined one charge already and I'm pretty sure they will refund the other. They cancelled the card and are sending me another. I have gotten caught before when vacationing if I don't tell the bank I am travelling and they restrict my card. No complaint here.
On a good note, I finished the cosmetic fixes to the Lionel #623:
It now has the other front side railing and a new bell. I got one of the separate bell and brackets like went on my old 1662(?) to replace the black plastic one on it. I like the look of the 2 piece bell plus the silver color. It also seems more realistic in size than the plastic one. My goal was not to modify the body shell in any way so it can be put back to original. I had to file off part of the bell bracket to clear some of the detail molding and then used a bolt and nut to hold the bracket in place. Now to wire it up and see if it runs. I will need to hunt down my PW repair manual first.

Don - York commeth!
SJ - nice meet video as usual! Nicely done control panel!
Bob - the 623 looks great!
Chief - nice looking kid there!
I think I may survived a potential storm at work, which is a good thing. Nothing to do with co-workers for once, but a satisfactory conclusion. I was busy all day with cases. At the current rate, I would enter a phenomonal amount for this month. Had a nice walk at noon. I cut down three items in the yard that were badly overgrown tonight. I hope everyone has a good day.
Evenin' All.
The BetterHalf finally made it to Fort Meyers on Sat. Originally scheduled for Thursday but got bumped all the way back to Sat and even got bumped from the early flight to a few hours later. Fortunately though her connecting flight was just over three hours late for departure. Ain't flying fun, not. Her sister is not doing very well, I had to reschedule the BetterHalf's return flight to the first week of May.
This week is dentist week for me. A new crown placed today followed by a good deep cleaning. Now a couple of very small cavities to be done on Thursday.
Chief, Congas on the new addition, however he must get his good looks from his mother's side of the family.

Well someone has to say good morning.
Good morning.
Temps in the 70s last couple days. Storms moved through yesterday afternoon, the worst ones missed us. Sad news as the man that made BCRs passed away, always worth a good chat at York. No news yet about the business.
Chief A Buckeye shirt for football season and that little guy will be all set.
79 degrees already. Sunny and a pretty day to work in garden. Now interrupted by Town stuff and Wifey wanting to go see Grandson. Was to be later this afternoon. Her work computer is down. No one coming today to fix.

Busy day at work. Pain one was gone so pain two had no one to talk to. That was so sad.....LOL! Nice weather for a walk. Did nothing at home tonight but watch Izombie, which got its groove back.
