Good evening.

Supposed to cool off some here in southeast Florida, might get down to 61 overnight and up to 77 during the daytime tomorrow. However the cool weather is going away in a few days and back to high 70's to low 80's for the weekend.

Never though about putting the date on my light bulbs.

I got trains on the new shelf I put up yesterday, 2 Interurban passenger cars and some gondolas.

Evening all!

It did hit 65 today so I was able to get some primer sprayed on some lathe parts I am refurbishing.

Also worked on the scooter. Recharged the battery. Put more Sea Foam in the tank. Got it to start and run for a while at 2/3 throttle. Will only run for a minute at idle then dies for lack of fuel. Assume the jets are still clogged. Today was a definite improvement so the Sea Foam gas treatment is working. Got it hot so hopefully a soak tonight will bring more improvement tomorrow.

Did some lathe work on some custom axles to see if I can equip a standard gauge loco with ball bearings. The ball bearings require a 1/4 in axle and the std ga axles are 3/16 in. So made a prototype from 1/4 in stock and cut the ends down to 3/16. So far so good.

All is ready for the weekend. Turkey ready to go. Dressing fixin's ready. Apples for apple pie. Flour,  sugar, etc., for pies ready. Presents under tree and wrapped. All systems GO!

Lee - use a graphite pencil to date the bulb bases. Ink/Sharpies will fade to nothing with the heat.

Regards, Roy

Roy, add this to the gas and it will fix it if it is dirty fuel and gummed carb parts. This is great stuff. I use this on my 1975 trident and it fixed issues I had had for years without doing anything more than running it. Sea Foam is out dated with today's gas.  Wink

Good evening all,

Finished work for the year as well today.  Will not be back until the 3rd.  Yeay!!!  Weather was warm for the walk today.  Roy, I have to admire your engineering skills with those ball bearings for the standard gauge trains.  Are those for the rolling stock or engines or both?  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from indiana

Don, glad to hear you are doing well on your trip.  I've never been to a waffle house but sounds good.  We had a little rain here today.  I saw my dermatologist today and had a small skin cancer removed from my arm.

V8, have a safe trip and a Merry Christmas.  Hope your dental work doesn't bother you.

Morning all

Dennis hope your teeth don't give you much problems while your at your brothers.

Not a lot going on here today. Have a package coming in today that's not trains for a change. Debating on getting the Paul Revere set as one place is blowing it out at $329 with free shipping. New in box. others are over $400 by time you add shipping almost $450. And I like B&M. It's almost like the original set back in 65 I think but the mail car or what is suppose to be is a aquarium car, and they have porthole caboose and no tank car. But it looks like a decent set and I do like it. Conventional as I already have a engine from the set that all I have done was test run it. but I probably wouldn't open this set put it up as is. Maybe even in it's shipping box lol. oh well we will see.

Morning, Slept till 9:30. Was up most of the night with arm pain again and decided when I did fall asleep, good!

First full day of winter,,good, the days will start to get longer and the sun will rise in the sky.

Wife's gift is showing out for delivery so I got to figure out a way to catch the mail carrier so she won't know. Huh?

Dan and the kids are coming over at noon so he can get in the tree stand and they will spend the night so will have a house full. Tomorrow Katie will join in and we are going to do gifts for the kids. That is if they don't raid them before that. Pirate

Safe trips to you that are traveling. Angel

Hello Don B. where ever you are.  Hope you made Chi town.

Dennis, I know you have had more than your share of denture problems.  I didn't know that you got some implants.  I'm leary of those at my age.  I only have four anchor teeth left on my uppers and 6 on the bottom.  I go every three months for cleaning and maintenence.  So far, so good.

Went to see Helen again today.  Kind of quiet there after the big party on Tuesday.  They still haven't found her glasses.  I think they are gone for good this time.  Now I have to find an eye doctor who can deal with dementia.

Going out for special dinner with one son tomorrow and then we will all get together with older son on Christmas.

Don, give us a report on your trip so far.

It was great to meet DonB after so many years here together - most definitely the highlight of the season for me. I'm sure he'll update you on his successful journey when he gets a chance.

Evening all!

Doug M - that is great! Good pic!

53 here today, cloudy. About the same tomorrow and then 69 and 70 with rain for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day respectively. Ugh.

So far so good for Iggles vs G-ain'ts 14-3. A rare event for anyone in Dallas to be rooting for Philly.

Kev - great videos - love hearing the kids laugh. Similar to when I got 4 of our kids and friends kids up at the same time on wakeboards behind our ski boat when they were younger. They are all adults now. Well today was one of those 2 steps forward, 1 back with the scooter. Could not get it to run for more than a few seconds at a time and never at throttle. So spent time double checking for vacuum leaks and fuel pump flow. No leaks and great fuel flow from the vacuum fuel pump. So no opportunity to think about the Chevron additive. At this point I just need to brute force this and pull the carb and clean it/jets.

Mike C - working on ball bearings for axles and countershaft for a std ga Protodrive motor for locos. Been messing with this for a while. Goal is a motor that can run for very extended periods of time with little maintenance other than oiling the pickup rollers. I have also designed a stouter gearbox for the worm and worm gear.

Seasons greetings from Bevely MA. from RI52.  It appears I have a few years of posts to read to catch up on things.  But it seems that the starting lineup here remains suspiciously similar to the one I remember.Big Smile

It would be impossible for me to summarize all that has been going on since I last posted.  So I guess I'll just start fresh today.  I have kept in touch with the Chief, RT, Rich, DougM, Brent, Buckeye, Charlie, and some more of you on FaceBook.....so some of you know that I am alive and well.

This past year has been one of significant change for our family as my father-in-law passed away in January at the age of 93.  So we packed up my mother-in-law and moved her lock, stock, and barrel 1,142 miles out here on the right coast and in with us. There have been a lot of 'adjustments' all the way around as you might expect. But I am happy to report that all is well, with a medical hiccup here and there on the health front for her.  The best part is that she is with her daughter, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She could not be happier.  And most of the family is now within striking distance by car.

She is spoiling the dogs who love to sneak upstairs and jump in bed with her in the mornings.  We have two Doberman Pinschers that are glued to her every waking hour.  And they sense how fragile she is and stay amazingly low key around her while going bonkers only when they are outdoors.

The bad news in all of this, I have a garage full of her belongings.  55 boxes remaining to be exact.  Consequently, our cars sit out in the elements. Sad

Gotta run.  I promised Nana I would run the Christmas trains for her before she turns in.

I hope that each and all of you experience the happiest Christmas season ever with your loved ones.

Jack

Good evening all,

RI 52, good to hear from you again.  I hear you on having all your parent's stuff.  We still have boxes to go thru....again and make a decision on it.  Roy, thanks for the update on the bearing project.  Still shaking my head on that one.  I spent 20 years at a ball bearing factory and I admire your effort.  Finished assembly work on the 6 by 12.  All I have to do is cut the 3 4 by 6 boards and attach.  Wife is not happy with where the tables are placed, but there are only so many combinations that will work in that space.  We shall see.  I will post pictures when I have at temporary track in place with trains running.  Went to see Rogue One tonight.  Did a nice job of tying this story to the main Star Wars story line.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Mornin' boys. A fond welcome back, Jack.  Great pic Doug and Don.  All kinds of surprises lately.

Partly sunny and 32 in the Potomac Valley.  Need to do a little last minute shopping, wash FifeMax, then head up to my folk's home for dinner.

Had very good interview with WVSP yesterday.  The ball's kinda in my court.  Caught the South Branch Valley RR crossing the Springfield crossing on my trip home, always a cool sight.

Good Morning from clear 25°F Southern Ohio,

Our youngest daughter and her significant other and his mother as to our surprize her dog, are here now for Christmas.  The kids live in Hollywood and his mom in Southern Kentucky.  The cool weather is an adjustment for them.  And speaking of adjustments, our dogs, the golden retriever and the schnauzer are adjusting too to a tiny chihuahua dachshund mix.  The retriever thinks their dog is a toy I think.

After reviewing utbe videos on the alternator replacement and considering we needed the van to transport people I farmed out the R/R for the alternator to a local garage.  They got it done and charge $150 labor.  I guess it was worth it.

Jack - Good to hear from you.  “Only” 53 boxes left?  You got off easy ; )

Mike - We saw Rouge I last night; it was good I thought.  The tye in was compelling.

Don - Still lookin good!

Fife - The Blue is in your blood

Got to go

May God bless

Jim

Morning gang!

Weather as predicted this morning. 50's - Maybe some sprinkles. "Unseasonably warm" for the Christmas weekend - boooo....

RI52 - Welcome back!!

Dennis - glad you made it ok. Hope you have a great time!

Mike C - I have experienced the "train table" is not optimally located.

td1 - good to hear from you!

Phish - that was a God deal on the alternator me thinks.

OK. C'Boys nail NFC east with the win by the Iggles last night. Sweet! Sorry Anj!

The wife made our traditional Christmas cookies yesterday - butter cookies with a red plum jam drop on top. Yum.

Morning. Partly cloudy turning to sunshine. Presently 39 degrees and going to mid 50's. A lot cooler than 62 yesterday afternoon. Only good thing about Yanks sending cold. NO mosquitos in the woods.

Doug, glad you and Don got a chance to see each other.

Christmas chaos as usual here. Wifey in a tizzy to get things ready for big meal tomorrow with kids and then go to her Dad's that evening. She is out and about for last minute specials she really doesn't need.

Me, help clean house and run some errands.

Hope all have a good and safe day [especially if traveling].

Aloha and Merry Christmas a few days early to you all! Roy, those cookies sound great. Great to 'see you.' Jack. I hear you about family boxes. Too bad you don't have any more excuse to come out to Elgin... DonB is hopefully on his way to the airport to head home before today's snow.

Just a quick check in.

Fife - HaHa; that is about what is like.  I’m spending some quiet time in the garage when it gets really crazy.

Roy - The alternator was $220 and the labor was $150.  After looking at their work they did a good job.  I talked to the mechanic who did the work and he said the shop book estimate of 1.5 hours is way off.

Good evening, More sledding today behiind the Gator for the grand kids but the snow is melting away fast. So later we opened all of the gifts and cleaned up the mess.

Everyone just left, We had a great time and Jordan (the 3 year old) took about 30 seconds to figure out how to run the remote for the Lionel Dinosaur train set. I set it up on the big loop and ran it off the ZW power. The little thing worked great. I will set it up at his house on Christmas.

Good to hear from you RIJack!

Merry Christmas guys.

Evening all. Merry Christmas to all for the ones not here this weekend. I hope all have a good day.

I got depressed today. 2 days before Christmas and Wal-Mart already had a full ailse of Valentine Candies and gift boxes etc. No wonder folks lose the spirit before it gets here there chocking down the next holiday. You can't even enjoy one holiday without the next one being forced on you. Like wife said Next week they will start the Easter stuff. SoapBox okay I'll step down now sorry for the rant.
