Aloha. What a beauty of a cool sunny day! Had a good review by my boss yesterday - no extra $ though. Glad she's happy w me. Watched the Cubs and MNF instead of the debate. Looks like a busy day today. Joe, That sounds like a great pick-up!

Hello there,

Been awhile. Had a nice long post on my phone Saturday and the phone ate it.

Buckeye………let me know next time you’re near Altoona. Maybe we can get together.

Laz….nice work

RT…..Glad you’re home

Spanky……..find a good chiropractor.

Mom is Mom. Started taking her to adult day care yesterday. She seemed to like it.

Son started picking corn. Got one field done. Very small crop. About 1/3 of hoped for. Between low volume and low prices definitely a loss this year.

Last Dirt Drag for the season was Saturday. It was a no points race due to a rain out earlier so we made some bigger changes. Paid off with minus 0.2 seconds and very narrowly beating the points leader. Grandson finished the year 1st on his old Machine and 3rd on the new one.

Cleaned the boiler at Mom’s last evening and built fire for the 1st time. Was looking good until the water got hot enough for the circulator to kick on. It did and all it did was hum. The seal leaked just enough for it to rust the shaft in the bushing. Rebuilding it is tonight’s project.

Won on the bay a Lionel 259E with two tenders,806,804.1680,807,891,1682 ,1679 and12 straight tracks. $131.15 shipped. Seemed like a good deal

John……Sounds like a nice truck. What engine? My 1st car was a 65 GMC Stepside. It had a 300 6 with three on the tree. Dad bought it new. In 73. It became mine after he bought a new 74 Dodge. My buddy’s Dad taught me body work as it got new cab corners, rocker panels lower front fenders and rear fenders rebuilt. Then a friend painted it at Vo-Tech for me. Sold it a year later and bought my “70 ElCamino (still have it)

Best get moving

Prayers for those in need

Guten abend,

The weather couldn't be any nicer.  A sunny day with the high topping out at 71 and it looks like the same outlook for the next few days.  I don't have much else to report, just another day at work and at home.  I hope everyone has a great day.

Like Doug said,, What a beauty of a cool sunny day!

Worked on the trails for the first time since I screwed up my back in July. They were bad and some I could not get the Gator down, Took it easy and only did about half of them today and will see how I feel before I do the rest. I also cleared the trail to the deer stand. Need to start feeding soon. it was a great day to be in the woods, cool, nice breeze, no bugs or sweat. Can't beat that. Yes Deer season starts on Saturday for Bow.

Banks, the corn & bean crop here is great, price, not so much. BTW nice haul on the bay. Since wife retired my train budget is in the hole. Crying

Got the new CTT mag today. At least it had over 70 pages this month. I don't have any MTH motive power. Maybe I should look at it?

Ordered one of the Warehouse find! CTT anniversary trucks. Even tho it made me think of Walter and RMTs Warehouse finds.  Laugh Still not bad for the money.

Good evening all,

A so-so day at work turned a bittersweet surprise tonight.  We won our first tourney game by forfeit as only 3 of the other team showed up.   Had to miss the last junior high game....not too sure it was worth the trip.  We play again on Monday for a trip to the finals.  Weather was nice today.  Supposed to be junky weather Wednesday.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Morning all.  Weather guessers say cloudy and showers.  Sun out bright.  Oh well.  Probably will rain.

Busy day.  Got FIL's truck with 4 new "feet".  Get it inspected and renew tags.  He will be ready to go.

Fifey, good luck.  Know there will be some "feelings" about layout.  Gives a chance for a new one.

Got a call from Frankie and Lea.  Then video.  She is telling him [from a blood test] ITS A BOY!!!!.

Have a good one.

Aloha. It rained just during the time it took to walk from the train station to work and now it is sunny. And me without an umbrella. Thought I appreciated the chance to use my wits to dodge into and through buildings. Nothing else to report this morning Congratulations Chief!

Yes Chief!

Furnace  kicked in over night so must be cold out there. Shows 53 now with a high of 62 for the day. Need to give the furnace the yearly check up and cleaning. Seems a bit early.

Hello all

Cold and wet here on the mountain. Gave a tour for the Federal Correctional Institute staff across from the base camp. Then the AC/Heating guys came up for the fall service. Will meet w/ the basecamp director to go over some of the communications issues. Mechanic will be up later and hopefully I can get a chance to finish cleaning up the shop.

Almost moved out of the trailer. Will finish up tomorrow and clean up the place. Finally got a chance to have a good look at the wastewater plumbing on the motorhome. It's just 2" ABS pipe so I'll prob replace most of it and make it a bit simpler in the process.

Our grand opening for the building is Saturday. After that things should calm down a bit for everybody.

Corvan 'knock' turned out to be just a broken fan belt. Like it when they are that easy. Ordered my first parts from Rock Auto last week. Engine mounts for the Datsun. No one can get them in town.

Will be making a display in the barn of my O-gauge stuff. Have to get some plexiglass to put over the bookshelf.

Good evening all,

Today was another nice day and the usual schedule at work and home.  I received the latest CTT digitally a couple of weeks ago but I haven't fully read it yet.  Since I will not have a year-round layout while we live in Germany, I am in no hurry to read it.

Good night,

Joe

Mornin' boys.  Raining and windy in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Fifedom looks like heck.  Garbage men gonna get a workout today.  Hauled some more fragile stuff to WV yesterday, then took middle princess for an interview.  Traffic on the beltway was ridiculous, before rush hour.  Certainly won't miss it.

Good Morning from rainy Southern Ohio,

The rain was welcome relief as it has been pretty dry.  Football practice was moved indoors, as much as anything so as to not tear up the field.  The boys are executing pretty sharp so we’ll see how they do in tonight’s game.  We are down to 13 dressing out.  The school we are going to play is much larger than us, but then who isn’t, so it will come down to physical conditioning and will power again.

Have not had a chance to check out the Marx set I just got of Ebay.  The tender and caboose is tin litho and will need some tweaking.  But the paint is in great shape.

Mike – our Jr High season after tonight has two weeks left.  Part will be glad as I’ll get evenings back and part sad as I really enjoy being with the kids and seeing them mature into young men and developing their character, and some are real characters!

Bob – does the motor home have separate gray and black waste tanks?  I’ve worked on a bunch of campers but never a motorhome, I’d think they would be a lot alike.

Chief – Congrats on the new life to the kin!

RT – sounds like you are feeling better.

Kev – sounds like you are on the mend too.

Banks – ’70 El Camino!!! Neat I love that bodystyle!

May God Bless

Jim

60 heading to 65 with clouds and a chance of rain all day.

Up early, bad sleep but I got through the night without any pills and that is what I am trying to get done. Hope it will get better each day. Not like I can't try to take a nap. Zzz

Wanted to make chili and started when I got up to find I don't have chili beans or dark beans, so off to the store.

Chiropractor at 4:20 this afternoon and not a lot else.

Bob, hard to get a better engine knock that just a belt. Yes

Morning all!

Big passenger train crash about 9 am at the classic Hoboken Terminal. Appears train run through the buffer and they claim into the terminal. Video showed a lot of damage at the platforms. If you have not been there it is a beautiful terminal from the golden age of train travel. No injury reports yet. Prayers for those involved.

Beautiful day today. High of 74 and sunny. 80 tomorrow. A good day to go to the State Fair of Texas.

Regards, Roy

Wonder where V8 Is? Slow here, they must be over there.

Hi guys, Chili tonight, Sandra is making the corn muffins now.

Backcracker liked to killed me but I guess that is what it is going to take. Hope he gets it done, INS only will pay for 5 more visits and then that is it for this year. I told him to make a plan. He can't believe how knotted up my arm muscles and neck are. I told him I can!!!

Been cold and damp all day, perfect chili weather.

I hope the engineer of that train was not on his SMART PHONE.   I hate those things.

Did the fall check up on the shed HVAC today and we are set to go.

Hope to get night two in with some sleep without drugs. We shall see. I am beat tired.

Later.

Finally got my new CTT today.  Think of the "sorriest" mail system in the world.  Then put USPS in Rolesville below that.

Hope all are OK.

Lots of rain but enormous rains south and east of us.  All you Army folks that are familiar with Fort Bragg and Marines with Jacksonville, rains galore.  Air Force Seymour Johnson, also.

Have a good one.  Going to run through my CTT.

Good evening all,

Quiet day at work.  Fairly good evening.  Boys finally tied a game 0-0.  Girls finally won in shoot out over a team they should have easily handled.  JV got a win as well.  Weather stayed dry.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Morning all.

No plans for today. may go out to storage room attached to garage and see if I can move a few items around so I can empty a storage shelf. The boxes on it are not that heavy except the Christmas tree on top which my neighbor is going to take down for me when he gets back home. ( his job takes him out of town often)

Been separating a lot of stuff here and getting it into boxes to go to the booth the wife has in batesburg/leesville. Mostly trains but other items also.

Hope all have a good T.G.I.F. Talk to you all later

Mornin' boys.  Mornin' rt.  Rain and 57 in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Both Fifemax and I are getting haircuts today.  No, not at the same place Roy...  Grandson ran trains for the last time, as well as sending out the MTH fire crew out for its last run.  Then like the Jolly Green Giant, he walked up on the layout, plucking trees off of Wills Mountain.  Got 75% of the track off the layout last night, as well as the last of the buildings.  Will carve up scenery today, and start breaking down benchwork this weekend.

Good Morning from soggy Southern Ohio,

It rained quite a bit yesterday but we needed it.  The forecast is calling for more rain tonight.

We lost our JV game last night.  We had it tied 8 - 8 until 3 minutes to go in the 4th.  A long pass went in for a TD.  The boys were running on pure willpower at this point with 9 of the 11 on the field never came out, and the score was taken hard.  Some of them let down which led to a fumble and the other team running out the clock.  A loss and a lesson, never never stop trying.  We get  two of our starters, the QB and center back this coming week.  We are now 3-3 for the season.

Fife - IT is neat you are making memories as you dismantle the layout.  Have you been taking pictures?

RT - Take it slow Bill.

Kev - Like Snap Crackle POP!

May God Bless

Jim

Just skimmed through the new CTT.  Seems they have nice article on how to smoke and light a dummy.  Some of the old guys may remember that I did a thread on “smoking” and “lighting” a MTH NS diesel dummy.  Took and posted photos.  Gave well written instructions.  Showed how to install pickups, switches and etc.  Some even commented this should be in the CTT magazine.  Guess my politics was not right. Confused

One comment.  Lionel and MTH [MTH may now have a command voltage unit] smoke units will burn up at command voltage.  Our resident electrical engineer, Bob Nelson, from Austin TX instructed me on how to build a bridge rectifier to reduce the voltage to a safe level.

Oh well.

Just checking in.  Not much going on today.  Had breadfast with my train buddies, lunch with my wife, and dinner by myself.  Just laid low today.  Chief, bet my sister in Jacksonville got some of that rain.
