Chief, nice commemoration for the fallen.  Sorry to hear about your MIL having to go in a facility.  Must be better for the FIL.  I'm doing better too since Helen went in.  Deer stand looks big enough to put in some comforts.

I took my very first ride on the new Gold Line light rail between here and downtown L.A. yesterday. Cost me 35 cents each way for Senior weekend fare.  Went with my oldest son on his birthday.  We had a nice lunch at a well known restaurant (Phillipe's) near Union Station and rode back home.  Took about 45 minutes each way.  Pretty crowded for a weekend.  The next section to be built will come even closer to my house but I don't care if it ever comes.  As it is I'm only 5 minutes away from it now.  They are building a lot of apartments near the new line to capture more riders.  It's not as good as riding a train but at least it's on rails.

Good morning,

71 heading to 81 and humid here guys. Had just enough rain last evening to pop the grass and spike the humidity.

Spent a good part of yesterday prepping the rest of the south house wall for stain, then moved the lift around to the front. Got a lot of repair to do on the end tails but can get stain on the rest first.  It was hot and humid out there and your in the full sun working there.

Banks, Prayers for your Mom.

Aloha. Happy Monday, um Tuesday. Enjoyed the best weather for Memorial Day in memory. Highlight was wrestling the grill out of the basement and setting everything up. Prayers for your mom, Banks. Nice memorial, Chief. Tropical Depression Bonnie seems a little early for this time of year, Fife.

Hello there.

back to the grind tomorrow.

Sounds like everyone had a good weekend. Mine didn't go quite as planned.  Saturday was ok. Grandson got 2nd on his old machine. Not so good middle of the pack with the new one. Need to take it apart and "Look Around " inside it next time there is a long enough break between races .At least piston and rings. Brady's tuning paid off. He trimed his ET by almost 4/10th  of a second. 500 feet in 6.6 seconds.got him 2nd place.

Sunday went south when a "some assembly required " gas grill kicked my butt followed by rain.

This afternoon while watching the parade Mom had another TIA. This one was the worst that I've seen .Took her several minutes to come around .Meantime I got her into the Tahoe and headed to the hospital. They are keeping her for "observation". she didn't seem to come back all the way . Lots of tests scheduled for tomorrow.

Best get t sleep .

Prayers for those in need  .

Good evening all,

USA!  USA!  USA!   An AMERICAN driver won the 100th running of the 500!  Great weather, great crowd, great atmosphere!   Traffic into and out of the track was much better than expected.  Got to see a Foyt car in P-1 for 11 laps and loved every second of it.  Watched the race again when I got home and we are watching the Victory Dinner as I write.   Did very little today.  Went to niece's wedding on Saturday as well.  Long weekend.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Evening all. Thanks Jim and other's but think I eihter need to get them sand blasted ( the rest of the cars ) or the humidity is getting to the paint and making it look like it was poured on ( not the ones you have seen but cars I did later which were not sand blasted. ) I have 3 green abd 3 blue I now need to redo also so It's hold off time I think. I'm looking at a sand blaster on line I may try and get I have a compressor but still will need to get a dryer for the line and filters. I hope to goto Michaels, or hobby lobby Friday when in Aiken and get what I need for doing the lettering and numbering, I have the stamps need a brayer and a piece of glass or something like that ( may stop in at lowe's or home depot and see if they have any scrap glass I could get. ( small piece about 4" x4" or in that area)

Been a real nice and quiet day was able to relax. we don't do the grill thing so I cooked my self a burger on the stove in a small frying pan, had potato chips with it.

Hope all had a good weekend talk toy ou all later

Good Day Guys, Nice here on The North Bluff.

Got to admit the race yesterday at Indy was a good one for a change. Plenty of action and drama. Happy with the win. Was looking at GasMonkey # 24 till he hit the wall. Don’t feel too bad for AJ who fielded foreign car engines with non US drivers. I got to admit I did feel a bit sorry for him when it looked like they would get it done.  Now Nascar was okay but you got to give it to a guy who can stay out front for most of 600 miles.
Not much going on today, got to weed wack and that is about it. Had the big holiday party yesterday afternoon. No plans for today
Remember to thank a Vet!

Afternoon all.  Busy here as usual.  Rainy [actually sun came out] and 84 degrees.

Had a dry spell of 6 days without rain.  Garden growing up a storm.  So does grass and weeds.

Went to the farms Tuesday.  Could not believe it. Was dry which includes some big mud holes in the path.  Actually drove on the fields [not planted ket].

Collected a lot of ticks while finishing my new deer stand.

Friday, we dedicated the Veterans' Memorial here in downtown Rville.

Group photo of veterans in attendance.

The monument.

Remembering those who didn't come home.

Ray, MIL in facility now.  FIL doing so much better as he gets rest.  You did the right thing.

Have a safe holiday.

I have a 11K Honeywell generator. The weak spot is the auto transfer switch. It has to work every time. I went that way so it would start and run if we were not home. Almost all regardless of brand name use the same 2 cylinder gas engine. The 11 K also saved me from having to change out the gas pipes and regulator.

88 degrees yesterday, about the same for today.

Good morning, another beautiful day on the North Bluff.
Got to cut the grass around the house and then the thing at the some-day-maybe SIL’s mom and Dad’s house.
Fife. Our house is set up for the generator to take over up to 10 circuits but I have to pull start the gen set, plug it into the hook up box, then flip the manual transfer switch in the basement and select the circuits I want to use. Better than nothing. I keep thinking how much better it would be to have something outside the shed that would just start up and take over the whole business. If I were doing it over???? Huh? Maybe some day I will do the Generac. They seem to be getting cheaper every year and would sure be nice.
Mitchelr, Congrats on making it to retirement!!! Enjoy it.
Enjoy the holiday and thank a Vet!!!  Yes

Morning to all. It has been a while since I have posted, probably not since the York meet. I have only about 23 work days left before I retire. I had 8 1/2 vacation days that I needed to use or lose.  I'm a dedicated employee, but I am not a fool, so I'm not going to give away vacation days.  I am taking off all of next week and a couple of three day weekends. It will be sort of a test to see if my better half can stand having me home full-time. We haven't done much for the first three days off other than go to a community celebration and go to some yard sales.  The heat and the humidity have been brutal the last three days. I think the weather is going to cool down a little bit in the next few days, so I might be able to get out into the garage and the train room. Cleaning out the garage and working in the train room are two of my major projects as I retire. My wife's sisters are coming for a retirement celebration in the end of July, so there is a lot of prep work to get ready for their visit.

Today will be a major race day. Hope to watch Indy and the Coca-Cola 600.

Take care,

Mitch

Nice day, 77 going to 86 with a good breeze and some clouds. Picked up Grand-son #3 about 24 hours ago he is 33 months old and full tilt or sleeping.. So that don't leave much time for anything else. When he gets up from his nap I will take him home and when I get back I will take a nap.  ;) Holiday party tomorrow it his other grand parents house. Saves us the mess.

Power was out for three hours yesterday evening so the gen set got a good workout. It needed new gas anyhow so this helped drain it down some.

Good evening all, my oldest son tried out the newly opened expo line yesterday from L.A. to Santa Monica.  He also rode from Azusa to downtown L.A. before transferring.  It sounded like a horror story. It was standing room only most of the way and a lot of dirt bag characters were riding on the West Side.  One guy was smoking a joint on the platform and daring anyone to say anything about it.  My son had to walk about a mile from his stop to his workplace because the connecting bus failed to stop and pick him up.  The story sounds like the movie "Trains, Planes and Automobiles".  It took about 3 hours plus each way.  He is back to driving now for a while until they get the bugs out of the system.  I don't think I will be taking that trip on it to the ocean either for a while unless I go on Saturday.

Good evening all,

A very good day at work.  Completed a project that has been a long time in progress.  The end result worked very well.   Our newly hired director quit after less than a month on the job.   Had a nice lunch with a coworker as well.   Lucas and his intended were down for a visit today.   Niece's wedding is tomorrow and of course the 100th running of the Indy 500 is Sunday.  Hope the weather cooperates and the race is safe and AJ's team wins.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Jim I have found some real close matches and when you consider the trains I'm trying to match are 75 years old  +/- a year and how much they may have faded in all that time I think I might be real close to the original. If I have to redo all of then so be it. I'm at this point enjoying it even with some boo boo's as a whole there looking real good. I have some other projects I want to do this year also that's not trains but will be nice when done. ( metal lawn chairs from the 50's/60's )

Was an easy day today went to Aiken for eye appointment because I'm diabetic. but first went to Home Depot to look at paint in spray cans and a couple of other things, then to Golden coral after DR. appointment then to Lowes and finally back to Home Depot for more items ( found my paint with better closeness at Lowes) any way got more Flowers at Home Depot and a few at Lowes. Bought 4" x 4" x 6' pressure treated to make a hand rail to the front porch not one there also got a 1" x" x 8' and a 2" x 4" x 8' all pressure treated to do the job and also some 1" x 4" x 8" for more shelves here in the train room. So I got myself some jobs for the next few days lol. Hope all have a great Memorial Day Weekend and Thank a vet.
