Good afternoon,

Still cold and gloom but the rain is out for now.  I got both Lexi and Jordan for the day.

I will be running me backside off with both of them today.

Good morning from wet cloudy Southern Ohio,

It rained during the baseball game yesterday, but they played anyway between showers.  Gabriel’s team won 16 - 0.  The other team did not seem prepared.

The job interview for a different job went well yesterday.  The HR people are going to put together an offer and I will need to figure which job to take.  Going back into being a training instructor or a supervisor.  I would enjoy either job.  This most recent offer is doing the same job I left in 2004 with a lot of the same people.

Tonight we have a track meet and a baseball game; if the weather does not decide for us Gabriel will need to decide which to do as the overlapping time makes both impossible to attend.

Brent-Last few storm doors were Larson and they have done well for me.  The last one have a built in doggy door which is a big hit.  We’re thinking about enclosing our back porch with windows to make it like a three-season room, sort of what you are talking about.

Banks - Wouldn’t cover the check because it was not deposited long enough?  That’s crazy.  Seems like a means to skim a little cream.

Got to go.  During the last downpour saw another downspout that needs adjusted.

MAy God bless

Jim

Hello there,

got Mom home last evening.

RT that sucks you can't make York. I'd guess I still  have a pretty good shot at making it. Looking forward to a good get together.

Having a disagreement with my bank over the check I wrote for the corn picker. They bounced the check because the deposit I made wasn't in long enough. So far a bunch of double talk about why my over draft protection didn't cover it. This is probably the last straw I'm bank shopping tomorrow after nearly 40 years.

Past my bedtime.

Prayers for those in need

Evening all!

Been very busy since last Saturday with work and a buddy's train layout project.

Buckeye - I am not able to read the pot every day. Sorry I missed it. You would have  been invited to stop by and see the layout project.

Ray - continued Angel for your wife and you.

RT - say it ain't so!

Yorkies seem to be dropping like flies. Hope it not catching. I have my flights to/from BWI and a hotel booked.

Regards, Roy

Brent/Sturg here is the whole story. back in may of 2014 my truck was vandalized and they cut about 3/4 of the way thru the wire harness or one of them anyway. When I went to pick it up the repair shop ( Body shop ) it went there I guess because they also broke part of my plastic grill I guess trying to get into the engine compartment which they never succeeded as there was no more damage in there. Any way they pointed that out but say it had to be the hub ( I have 4 wheel drive ) and part of the hub looks like a gear and 3 teeth where broke out. They said that wasn't part of the vandalize well I said it's funny as it worked fine before this happened but they stuck to there story. I at the time was living paycheck to paycheck so couldn't afford to take it into be repaired/looked at. Well since I also moved but because of going to York we decided better get truck checked out and get that and passenger side window repaired ( it died about a year ago no warning)

Wile trying to repair the ABS they said definitely the Hub would not cause this so decided to put in a new sensor didn't help then they saw where the harness was taped up evidence of someone doing work within the harness, Thats when I told them what that was and said I need to call my insurance company as this is warnaty as long as I own the truck. So that brings us to them wanting there appraiser looking at it again and then they wanted to just do more splicing well if it was spliced in the first place wrong this guy was to go thru and figure what was right and what was wrong. I insisted on a new harness well then they wanted the dealership ( insisted on my dealership to fix it also) to open it up and let the appraiser re appraise it again and he took like 5 days to get to it ( two where saturday and sunday so actually 3 workdays) and then the info had to be faxed to my insurance Company and they will give the dealer the go ahead so thats where we are so far they haven't even started working on it. Thats why all this ruined my trip to York as we are still not positive when we will be getting the truck finished.

Afternoon Fellas (will be by the time I hit 'Submit')

Sturg - no on the retractable running boards. They don't make them for the Durango and to have them custom made wasn't in the books. I went with TAC Nerf Boards, they are about 6 inches deep and look really nice. I also installed mud guards behind each wheel, dressed up the sides rather nicely. While installing the passenger running board I noticed a scratch that runs nearly the entire length of both doors. Not happy, looks like it is my fault from using the snow thrower too close to her this past winter. So maybe a trip to Maaco is in order (need to get another scratch from where I clipped the mailbox 3 days after purchase). Need to get them addressed before rust sets in.

RT - that sucks. Was hoping to finally meet you. Fall?

Kids are really looking forward to the PSU Spring Scrimmage game next Saturday. Really hope the weather holds and we can make the trip. Grandparents are looking forward to seeing the kiddos as well.

Going to Home Despot or Lowes this weekend to buy a storm door for the sun room. Will then have to lower to sun room porch about 6 inches and then install the door. Will be nice to be able to open all the windows, sun lights, and door when the weather warms up again.

Looks like the yard needs its first cut of the year too...

Good Morning from Sunny Southern Ohio,

With Gabriel running track and playing baseball the evenings are pretty full.  They won their baseball game last night 13 - 3; it was a coach's dream because it seems like everything came together.  The boys have a lot of talent, it is the same boys I coach in football so I know their potential.  Monday at the track meet Gabriel came in 3rd in the 400 and 5th in the 200.  Not too bad for a 7th grader.  We won’t talk about the discus.  The throwing coach has not worked with him yet and I do not want to conflict coaching strategies, but he is just having them heave the discus and the shot for that matter, rather than having them use the circle with a spin or kick.  I’m biting my tongue at this point.  All I do is point out the form the other guys are using and how smaller kids with technique throw further than bigger and stronger kids who do not have form.

Received a call from an job application I submitted for an interview, and I told them I had already accepted another position.  The HR person called back and asked I come and hear what they had to offer.  It would be returning to a supervision job I had in ‘04 working with a lot of folks who I know and like.  I may need to decide which job to take.  I want to discern which is more in line with God’s will and money is not a big motivator for me.

Cleaned out gutters, repaired a few downspouts yesterday, burned brush from the yard and spread some insecticide for ticks.  The ticks are crazy thick already.  I picked 4 off me after a few hours outdoors.

Doug- Careful with the label “Pot-head”; I’ve got to maintain my security clearance.

Brent-Did you go with the retractable running boards?

RT- Sounds like they messed up the ABS sensor; The sensor is a simple plug to the reluctor in the hub, the whole harness is usually replaced unless they were using used parts and shops may use the existing sensor and splice the harness, rather than removing the sensor from the hub.

Banks - Prayers for you mom

Ray - Prayers for your wife

May God bless

Jim

RT, what did John do to your 736 for you??  Huh?

Better to say what didn't he do lol The gear on the main drive axle needed replacing so he had to pull it and put the new one on. get the wheels back in sinc seeing it was apparent someone else had tried to fix it that had no idea what they where doing. there where a couple of other things also but that was the main things.

Good rainy and gloomy morning here guys,

Got some kind of crud hanging on to me, no wonder with this up and down weather. Cat is staring me down to get some food again.  Guess I had better give in and get him something to eat. Sounds like I will have the grand-daughter tomorrow and the grand-son on Friday.

Good Morning,

Had another day off yesterday, not working on a train layout.  Spent most of the morning getting tax software, and information all rounded up at one place. Didn't start the process yet just preparation.  Had a real nice dinner last night with some friends down by the Queen Mary.  Excellant 3 course meal (Prime Rib) for $21.  Great deal!

After doing the preliminary inspection and test of the bikes, they are safely back in the shed.  Great advice from lion88roar!  All those things he described are definetly needed.  Did find one other issue though, apparently from having them hanging up, they must have stretched.  I can't remember having to lean the bicycle over so much to get my leg over it!  Something seems wrong.  A new seat is also on the list, lingering affects were discomforting.

DDG, The picture of Carlsbad is awesome! Is that out of your kitchen window?  Now that Yukon Trail bike is just what I need!  Didn't seem that pricey either, considering. Reminds me of the Mopeds.

Spank, Thanks for your comment, you are so right!  And with what Tyler has been through I know it hasn't been easy for you and your family either.

Well need to go and get ready to go back to work on the layout.  The end is near (I Think)  its been a long job and a LOT of work.

Take care ALL and stay healthy!

Morning all. Well York isn't going to happen for me this spring anyway. To many things blocking it. one is it looks like I should get me truck back from the dealer ship Monday or tuesday ( or as they say we hope ) because of my insurance company and the appraiser. It seems when my truck got vandlized like 2 years ago that they didn't fix it correctly . Kept getting ABS light coming on that didn't happen before the body shop that so called fixed it sait it was because of my front left hub that it needed replacing because it had 2 teeth like things well finally got around to taking it in and they got whoa your hub wouldn't do that. So they put in a new speed sensor no help then they noticed where the harnes has been taped up and told them that the body shop spliced wires together in there.  They said until they get into it they can't say for sure but they believe that is the problem. It was rewired wrong. That with them saying they hope to get it back to me monday or tuesday just cutting it to close for me. Plus other things going on here this just isn't really good time to go.

No real plans for today other than go and renting the car for like another 5 days today. $$ Glad insurance Company say the will reinburst me for it but not much I could do anyway the biggest hold up was the appraiser getting him to come back and look at it again. kept putting us off tomorrow then monday ( weekend in there) then tuesday. Finally got him in there after they had the truck for 5 days. Well will see what happens now.

Well will talk to you all later.

Good evening all,

Not a bad first day back.   Pain Two was gone so that made it better.  Izombie was very good tonight.  Tried to order minutes for wife's phone and ran into all sorts of hassles.  Ugh.   Technology creates a vacuum.....  I hope everyone has a good day.

Good afternoon all,

Wife is being evaluated today for transfer from Hospital to a rehab facility on the same location.  If she qualifies, medicare will cover her for about 20 days or more.  Hope they can get her on her feet again.  Otherwise, I have to explore more long term care options.

I am getting some much needed rest since she has been four days in the hospital but I go sit with her at least two hours a day.  She looked a lot better yesterday and ate all her dinner.  Thank you all for the prayers.

Good Morning !

Spring has sprung ! Carlsbad flower field.

Busy couple of days followed by a couple of vegitative days. Not much happening on the train front. SWMBO has requested(informed) me that they want to set-up the train at the "Relay For Life" event this year. Didn't run'em last year since Mother Nature gave us some rain.

Opening Day yesterday ! Hopefully yesterday's result, a 15 to 0 loss, isn't an indicator of how the Padres season will go. Crying

Gotta get moving, will be running around most of the day.

Later all.

Morning all - looks like I'm Mr. Mom today, as Noah came down with pink eye (again) at pre-school yesterday.   Congrats to Villanova - I don't watch a ton of college hoops, and that was a great game!  They peaked at the right time - let's hope my Blackhawks can do the same, starting with the 6-goal win on Sunday.

Really enjoying my new (to me) ZW-R - things run much smoother when compared to my V, which I think was being pushed a bit too much.  Just need to pull it apart now, replace rolllers and clean it up, then put it back into service handling accessories and the like.

J - I couldn't find anything on what the pots are for, will continue to look.  I would strongly recommend that you inspect the foam that is under the pcba.  After time they desintigrate and dont perform as an insulator very well.  Cause to the board to short out on the tender chassis.  Suggest you replace it with the double sided foam tape or any other material.  This has killed a lot of the SOS engines.

Also, on page 3-15, and 4-18 are exploded views of the engine, tender and parts lists.https://www.lionelsupport.com/service-documents/   (Download Product Supplements 1-9)

Thanks for looking around - I could swear I've seen a post somewhere describing each pot's function.  One would logically be volume; not sure what the second could be.

The foam was indeed DOA when I opened it up a couple of months ago. Since I had already unknowingly run it to see if it worked, thought the board might have fried but thankfully it hadn't. I replaced the foam with a piece of cardboard cut from a Lionel switch box someone on Da Bay used for packing material. Will be a little surprise to someone 50 years from now when they open it again...Smile

Good morning,

The driveway guy never came back. I called and asked if he was coming back he said no. Huh?  It was cold yesterday and will be today so I told him to wait till the weather gets better. No reason to freeze moving gravel around, I am in no hurry.

Fire in the fireplace yesterday evening. 30 now with sun but calling for cold and wet weather for the next week so I am going to lunch with Raj today and put a pot roast in the crocpot

Mornin' Fellas

Don - if you haven't riden the bikes in a long time, I would highly recommend taking them to a bike shop and having them replace the brake cables, pads, chain, tires, and lube the brake levers (not the handle levers, but the levers the pads attach to) and also true-up the wheels.

I have a mid-range Mt Bike that I hadn't riden since I moved to MD, I replaced the tires and tubes and headed out on trails behind the house - didn't make it very far and the brakes didn't seem right so I walked back to the house, loaded her up in the car and took her to the local bike shop (happens to be next to the local train shop - very convenient that is) guy gave her a good once over and all the above is what he did. Said it looked like she hadn't been riden in over 10 years - yep that would be me. Smile

Banks - prayers for your Mom. Hope everything works out and you'll be able to attend next Friday.

Good Evening,

Wow two days in a row!  That's good for me!  Didn't go and work on the Dr's layout today, he was busy.  So stayed home and worked here, pulled weeds, yuk.  Chris and Kay have convinced each other to start bike riding.  Kay wants a new bike, we have two bikes we bought in the 80's, mine has 178 miles, hers has 66.  Got them out today and brushed them off some.  They do need new tires then they are ready to go.  But if she wants a new one that's OK, hopefully it would be used.

Thank you all for the nice comments it is appreciated.

Got some good train running time with Noah - and also worked on repairs to get the C&O 8204 tender I received as a child running with its Mighty Sound of Steam again.  Whistles great and chuffed on the bench, but something seems a bit amiss when chuffing on the track.  Will need to double check the tether in the coming days.  As a side question: does anyone know what adjustments each of the trim pots on the board make?

Tomorrow is tax prepday, hopefully not to bad.
