Start early.  12 YEARS.  CakeHappy B-Day  April 1 in Holiday Inn in Savanah, GA. [was working Bass Pro there].  BigBoy told me to start it and let it run.  We had been doing a daily one each day.  Was one of the longest running threads on CTT and MR.  Then the Pot got to taking up too much space and we had to go to monthly.

Thanks for all who have stuck with it.

Have a great April.

Spanky - what kind of SS are you driving?

No train news.  Might get upstairs and do some sorting this weekend.  Got a lot of stuff in the house.  Time to start get rid of some.

All for now.

Good evening all,

Quiet day.  Went to see "My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2".  Excellent family movie and hilariously funny.   Got some questions answered by the IRS today and now I can finish taxes.  Going to Evansville tomorrow for an overnight trip.   Should be fun.  Lots of rain today.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Hello there,

Up early didn't sleep well. Been adding my 2 cents to the pot since 08. Hard to believe.

We missed the anniversary of Navy Jack's passing in March.

Does anyone hear from the likes of Wes or Dwiemer or Jack from Taxachusetes, Jonadel to mention a few?

Best get my day started

Prayers for those in need

Mornin' Fellas

Happy April Fools Day!

11 years ago today (it was even a Friday then) I met TheQ for the first time in person. We had been emailing and talking on the phone for about a month and a half, before we decided it was time to meet. I can honestly say I have enjoyed every second of my life since. Been some ups and downs, but all-in-all it has been a very good ride.

Matthew had his first whole day without any accidents yesterday! Keeping our fingers crossed.

Other than that, not much else going on. Hope to make it to York... speaking of which - who is attending?

Good Morning from Sunny and warm (high 60’sF) Southern Ohio,

I emailed back to the HR people at my new job and as soon as they get the physical info back they’ll send more instructions.  April 11 is still the target date to start the new job.

Grandson Gabriel had his first track meet yesterday.  He came in 3rd in the 400 and 2nd in the 200.  They had him throw the discus but he needs lots of work with that.  He is playing both baseball and running track.  Coming from a small school there are only 11 guys playing baseball so they are pretty thin so he feels obligated to play to field a team.  He’s pretty good at baseball too.

I pranked my bride this morning; she was a good sport with it and the girls have been pranking Gabriel and my bride.  I’m being careful.  I know I’m a target!

Washed up the van and the Civic.  The new paint on the Civic looks good, and sure beats the body shop’s estimate.  Cleaning up the inside of the van was like cleaning up a dumpster!  Nasty.

TGIF!!!!

May God Bless

Jim

Yes.  Falling down ladders and sawing off legs for just a few. Surprise

Congrats on meeting such a fine lady.  If folks don't know, these two went and got two kids that would not have had a chnace in life.  Given them the best of care and etc.  Hats off to Brent and Susie Q.

No rain.  Forecasters called for inches and maybe some severe.  May get some spotty showers.  OK with the farmers and me.

Sleep tight.

I'm back in the Pot, missed it for a while because life was crazy  Finished my layout, decided on no grass or other scenery for it. Started mentoring a younger relative through his Boy Scout RRing merit badge, he has a few Scouts now to boot.

Mornin' Fellas

Don't forget DennisW too! Doug and Dennis went many extra miles to complete their families!

Kev - Matthew turned 3 on 2/5. We thought this day would never come. Smile TheQ just had enough of changing him (so did I) so last weekend it was underwear only, no diapers or pullups. He only had 1 accident each day and late at night. Monday he had 2 accidents at daycare. There was a note on his chart that "Matthew is simply not ready, nor mature enough for potty training at this time." Sigh Then TheQ went to do laundry and found that his teachers had sent his poop home wrapped in the underwear inside a plastic bag, we were beside ourselves! I spoke with the daycare manager Tuesday morning and told her that to be treated that way after we had both our kids there and been paying them for 4.5 years that was totally unacceptable - and if it happened again we were yanking both kids and going somewhere else. I was assured it would never happen again. He had one accident on Tuesday and 1 on Wednesday (both because he was outside and forgot to go), so I told them - Make sure you have him go before and after playgroud time! Guess what, No accidents Thursday or Friday. I swear there are times the ladies that are his caregivers during the day simply don't use what God gave them between their ears.

Last night we had to go back to TheQ's office so she could get the orchids I sent her for our 11 year aniversary, that and a 'Just thinking of you'. Well we stopped for dinner along the way, on the way home we stopped at McDonalds so the kids could go potty, not accidents the entire time we were out (2+ hours).

On the 16th I am taking the kids to State College, PA for the PSU Spring Game (my parents and older sister will be there too), that is 3.5 hours each way. We'll see how he does. Smile

We just found with Matthew that if you let him 'stay the course' he will 'stay the course' he won't stray one bit. So if you want him to do something different, you have to force his hand. He doesn't wet the bed during naptime either!

He has something to look forward too as well... if he continues with this, at the end of April he gets his ride-on John Deers Tractor. Kid loves his John Deere Green!

My son Noah is about the same age and we're in the thick of training as well.  #1 is conquered; #2 not so much.  We used a bit of bribery - one piece of Halloween candy each time he goes.  It'll all click when it does.

The Wif is visiting her nephews who are wrestling for state championships up north, so it's just me-n-the-boy this weekend.  Too cold outside today (we had a whisp of snow earlier this AM) so I think we're going to get some good train time today for the first time in a couple of weeks.

Yes very proud to say I know all three ( Brent, Doug, And Dennis ) as they have done what a lot couldn't or wouldn't do. I fall in the couldn't catagory but love kids to death just to old now ( 61).

Morning all gloomy day here with possible showers off and on all day in lower 60's at present and if lucky it will hit 70* today.

Just before Thanksgiving I think A certain good friend I would say ( By the name of Fife Dog ) who I haven't met in person yet ( hope to at York in a week and a half) mentioned he was looking for a 6519 Allis Chamber with both brake wheels still in place and not the remake well I found one almost immediately and sent it his way with a exchange of some $ which was a good deal for him and I made a couple $ of it also then I got looking for one for me. not to be had a decent price no where I could get them with brake wheel broke off but didn't want it. I wanted like he did well this am for some reason no one was bidding on it I picked up another this time for just $25 plus shipping and seeing I have like $20 in Ebay bucks after shipping it's still only going to cost me $17 and thats covered as go a refund on a tender that a guy sent me the wrong one last night.  Big Smile

Not much else going on here just taking it easy. Truck is in the shop hopefully getting repaired correctly this time ( from 2 years ago when it got vandelized) was told one thing was causing the ABS light to come on when finally was able to afford to get that fixed took it to a Chevy dealership ( the other was done at a body shop) they said no it isn't your hub it's your speed senser well that didn't work so then they saw where the wire harness had been tapped up ( from being spliced back together wrong by the Body shop instead of just getting a new one) So now hopefully there going to repalce the wiring harness.

Hope all have a good weekend. Not a lot going on here.

Morning all and happy 12th to us!

Here's to those we have lost over the past 12 years Drinks

After a cold and cloudy day yesterday we have a nice sunny day today with 70 forecast. For the next week it is supposed to be mid/hi 70's/low 80's. Nice!

Ahh - daycare and potty wars...I remember those days with less than affection.

Have a great day all! (York, York, York...)

A lot of kids about the same age here.  Jordan will be 3 in June and sometimes he just gets too involved to do the duty. They are working with him, The granddaughter was easy, Jordan not so much.

Brent, Same kind of daycare issues with Lexi and Jordan. Jordan had a case of the runs and after blast #2 they sent him home. I went to pick him up because the daughter was at work and when I got him home I was schocked to see they did not even wipe him clean just stuffed himm into a new set of pull ups. Katie has been giving them money for 5 years. I don't know what to think.

I also agree that is is a nice thing so many have done so much for kids that otherwise would have things a lot worse.  Yes

Well I just got back from the house  / duplex inspection on the place Katie and Dan are going to buy. Not too bad will need some roof repairs in the next 5 years or so but other wise move in condition. It is right next door to the one my son Russ had built back in 04 so it is 12 years old and the neighborhood now has nice trees and stuff but they are all on postage stamp lots. When Russ built there was no landscape. 5 minutes from Katie's work and 15 from Dan's. About 50 miles from here or a bit less depending on how you go there.

The wind here is pushing 50 to 60 MPH gust. The truck was showing 10 to 13 mpg fighting the wind and 30+ mpg with the wind at my back. Wife wanted to go to Walmart but has changed her mind with this wind.

Have a good one.

Good Morning from a cool (30F) Sunny Southern Ohio,

Stayed pretty busy yesterday.  Cut grass in the morning cleaned up the garage in the early afternoon the Vigil Services, then dinner at a wedding reception from my nephew, home and watched Chasing Classic Cars.

It has been very windy here but not getting the rain predicted earlier.  I want to get started on the re-do of the utility room this week.  First stage is building some locker type units for the kids coats and shoes.

Got to go and start waking folks up.

May God Bless!

Good Afternoon!

Been awhile since I posted last, but this retirement stuff I'm failing at!  By the time I get home, eat, say hello, then set down,.......boom I fall asleep and lucky if I wake up to go to bed.  Oh well!  I will adapt!

Went to a local TTOS monthly train meet today, and ran into Ray, boy has that guy been through a lot!  He really seems in good health and spirits, but I only see the surface.  He sure could use all the prayers and well wishes that could be shared.  I will not try to paraphrase his situation, that's up to him.  But, I really enjoyed talking with him and hope he and his wife do well!

As far as my family everyone is doing great.  Kay has been a year and 3/4 Cancer Free, and that is sooooo great!!  Chris is doing fine, not married, but a steady gf, he is the onsite Geologist for a new Ikea store being built in Burbank.  He is responsible for testing and inspecting all the ground preparation work being done for the new store.  Additionally he is now President of the Southern Cal Geological Society, which is keeping him quite busy.

I'm still working on the "Dr's" layout, nearing completion soon.  Need to install a few more accessories, adjust some switches, and connect a Ross turntable.  Probably get involved in another one soon, but not near as complex or difficult.

Yesterday I had some time and decided to spend it in MY trainroom.  Boy, did I get concerned quickly!  NONE of my MTH engines would run or even start.  I thought after a bit I had a TIU problem. Then for 20 minutes wasn't making any progress, then deleted an engine and re-entered it.  WHALA!!  It came alive, as did all the others, what releiv!  (I had replaced all the batteries with BCRs and knew it took them a minute or so to charge up when power was applied.  I thought there was a voltile memory capability in the engine that would retain the ID information.  But apparently that is not the case.  Reloading them resolved the issue.  Thankfully!

The lesson there is to "Fun the trains more frequently"

I did review a lot of the posts and seems that everyone is doing well, so have a great week and take care all!

Evening all!

Beautiful day here today. 75 right now.

Buckeye - you came to the big D and didn't tell me?

Don - that is good news about your family. Glad you are doing well.

Dennis - cool about the drag races. I really enjoyed them in my younger days also. Ran my 68 Vette a few times. Worked pit and the starting line/burn outs a lot for some buddies. Then I got married. I did get my wife to work the timing and the Timing Tower with me once at Texas Motor Speedway when it first opened. Hint - it was air conditioned. Really cool to watch the cars from behind and above the starting line. Hate the Pro Lights - preferred the tree.

Evenin' boys.  Windy, wild and wooley here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  The kind of day that makes you think twice 'bout gardening in a kilt.  We had our first "show" at fifedom this weekend, and it 'twas good to break that ice.  My buddy Tom and I ventured over to Ranson, WV for a nice little train show.  I picked up 3 huge empty set boxes, brought them home and sat them on the kitchen table.  When Wifey had a cow, I "accidentally" dropped them on the floor, then she got the joke.

dbaker - Continued great news about the Mrs.

Hello there,

Been a wonderful weekend. Took Mom to the ER again Friday evening. UTI again. Maybe going to let her loose tomorrow. I'm really going to push for daily antibiotic or weekly test.  This is getting really old.........

Belated Happy Birthday and or anniversary to those I missed.

Drug a new to us corn picker-sheller home for son Saturday pm. Appears to be lightly used. Should be able to recoup the cost and then some  by selling the two items it replaces. The wind was crazy here last night and this AM.  So since I didn't plug in the heat tapes last night it got way colder than predicted last night. The water was frozen in the barn this morning .  More fun.

Looking forward to York. Anyone up for dinner Friday evening?

ray.......still praying for you and yours

Doug. ...glad to hear things are working out

Best get to sleep

Prayers for those in need

Nice weekend here.  Sunny and about 60 yesterday, and sunny and in the 70's today.

The robot team went into battle again this weekend.  Were ranked 16th out of about 45 teams after the qualification rounds, and ended up seated 5th in the playoffs.  Didn't do quite as well this time, as they got eliminated in the semi finals.

Finished painting trim Dead in the spare bedroom yesterday.  Got the coarse sanding of the floor done today.  This will become my wife's sewing room when done.  That will free up the area in the spare room off of the master bed room to be converted into a master bath - the next project.

Put a charge on the lawn mower to get it ready for action tomorrow.

The Haas F1 team put a car in the points again today.  Great results from our new F1 team from the US.

The local paper revealed that the State Fair Speedway will be having 7 races this year.  It is a 1/2 mile dirt track.  The program will include sprint cars, late models, and probably modifieds.  It has been a number of years since there have been races there.

No train stuff, though.  I do have a grand nephew that has a birthday coming up in July.  I think he needs a Thomas starter set......

About all for now.
