Jim.... Sorry to hear about the job loss.  I'm betting they will find a way to reopen the enrichment plant in Southern Ohio.

Morning guys, slept in to wipe off the after Datona race beers. Just checked the bank account and heading out the door for grapple hoses and fittings. Maybe it will be working today. Hope so because they are talking a 4"+ snow mid week and I will need to put the snow plow back on. SO would be nice to finish this up first.
Sunny this morning and 30F degrees with heavy frost when I got up. Their talking 40F later and cloudy.

Hello There,

Been MIA lately. Feel like a long tailed cat in a room full of rockers. Started a post Friday after frying fish but my phone was doing silly things. I ended up dozing off while phone restarted............. The fist week due to lousy cold weather we only served 514. A nice day this past Friday brought us 795.

Son's progress is slow on the truck. He hopes to be ready to start installing the body next weekend.

Fife.....hope you find a basement soon. Make sure it's dry.

RT........glad Kitty made it home.

Kev.....The grapple looks good.

I've been treating the Ash trees in my yard. Hope it works

Phish........prayers for your job hunt........Can you afford to retire?? Your grand kids go to a Catholic Grade school? The diocese recently said they were closing our parish school. We said think again. It's our school and you can't close it. If we get half of the kids that say they're coming we should be fine.

Mom has been keeping us stepping. Seems to be on the decline

There have been a couple of hardy robins hanging around here all winter.

Seven weeks till YORK

Best move on.

Prayers fo those in need

Aloha from a sunny and colder Chicago. Certainly enjoyed the 50 degree temps last week but, boy howdy, as Roy said, the wind sure was howling. Scared poor Torben the Wonder Dog too. I like those metal shelves, Roy. I have them in the basement and you are right, they are impossible to clean under, (and they rust) but I would've come by the pick them up if I lived down the street Big Smile

SJ, I'm glad you saw a robin; that is always a sign that the weather might have finally turned (though we are supposed to get 3 inches of snow on Wed. Ha!). Thanks for the  video heads-up too, SJ. I love visiting those layouts!

Worked at church this weekend; getting a bit tired of it - told them they have to find another person to do what apparently only I can do for them; the youngest got up sick late last night or was it early this morn, so he is home from school today. Fortunately, he's old enough to stay by himself.

8n, congrats on the CAD training. One of my relatives who has struggled in lots of things just earned a cert in CAD Drafting. it sounds interesting. Kind of like what I learned but  used to do on a large drafting table. Not too useful anymore (along with my mad slide rule skills) Smile

Stur-Jim, I hope you find something new that is interesting and lucrative too - wil lpray for that.

Doug, There's a Disney store just up State St. and they sell lots of these figures - the figurines at their website are fantastically expensive: they are large for our scale but frankly perfect for the Thomas line that is a bit larger: http://www.amazon.com/Disney-Alice-Wonderland-Figure-200647/dp/B003DV55R6

Morning all!

Got some light rain last night. Not much.

Phish - good to hear.

Built some new shelves in garage yesterday. Slowly getting rid of steel floor shelving. Too hard to clean  under them. New ones attached to wall.

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 41 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Fifepops duty today.  Hopefully will be mild enough for a little outside time.  Wifey still undecided on WV prospects.

Phish - Can't keep a good man down.  You'll be fine.

Good evening all,

Got some projects done around the house today.   Picked up the yard, replaced a light fixture in the barn and took out a storm window screen no longer needed.  Watched some of the taxicab race.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep  on training,

Started converting a Marx 490 into a saddle tanker today. Gonna need a new cab, pilot, and mechanism. Also put some of my collection on the market, hoping to get enough funds to finish some tooling work I started a little bit ago. Who knows, Mebbe a few new engines and some passenger cars will finally make it onto the market lol.

Good Evening from mild (mid 50'sF) and wet Southern Ohio,

Thanks guys for your words and prayers. I am 60, and will draw full retirement from the company and they are offering a generous severance package and I'll cash out 592 hours of vacation, so I am blessed in that regard. There are some openings in with other contractors for jobs that I would qualify for and have done in the past so I'll continue to submit resumes.

I am blessed with great health, and I look at being laid off as a blessing too because I do not know yet what doors may open. It does get me off shift work and can spend more time with my family.

Thanks again

May God bless you guys

Jim

After the race I did my final look over on the Grapple install for lines and I think I have a plan, but then you know how that can work. Bang Head I will have to go to Peru tomorrow  because they don't have farm stuff at Farm & Fleet anymore. Angry They have lost track of what their name means. So it will a trip to Rural King tomorrow.

SJ I saw four robbins today here. Big Smile

The race was Okay but had to go to Krogers when it started but did get in on the last 1/2. They sure did some nice things at the track for the fans. Doubt the George family would ever do that for Indy. That place could use some up grades at least the last time I was there. Oh sure they got everything for the rich, but the regular fan,, well they are years behing what Daytona had before the up-grade. The other NASCAR tracks,,,not so much from what I have seen.

No train news, but I did run them the night before last for about a 1/2 hour.

Phish, that sucks. I have been there and at older ages it is only worse. Can you retire yet?

Morning all!

Got sprinklers fixed and tested. Found 3 more buried CATV cables. Cut another one (nicked the jacket) and yes it was an active one Even though I was digging carefully with small hand tools. This is only a 15 in deep x 12 in wide x 24 in long hole. They come next week to put in a new one. Glad this is over. Bet my internet and TV provides are also!

Supposed to rain this afternoon. We'll see.

Mike C - 8 miles, impressive.

RT - I had a restless night also. We also are dealing with an aged dog that has to go out two or three times between 11 pm and 6 am. Rough.

Phish - that's tough Angel

Daytona today. Chase Elliott won race last night. He is good like his father. Rising fast.

Good Evening from warm (60's) clear Southern Ohio

It was beautiful outside today. Got up into the mid 70's. Gotta love it. Spent most of the daylight hours in bed since I'm at work all night, but what I did experience was great. Assisted at two Vigil Masses then came into work.

On the work front, the funding for our project has not came through and I'm going to get laid off the end of this month. The threat has been there since last September, and so it's not like it was unexpected. Crazy, going from working 24-36 hours of overtime a week to being laid off. I was hoping to make it to March 17 because that would have been 39 years I've been working here. We'll see. When one door closes another opens, and I just turn it over to God and ask for a point in the right direction. Sent out resumes for some interesting jobs still in the nuclear enrichment field that are nearby.

SJ-We had some wind but nothing near 55mph!

Dougdagrump-Try the Disney store. I think I remember seeing something there.

Good night and may God bless

Jim

Bust week. Had CAD traiuning in Kansas City Monday and Tuesday, an all day seminar on Wednesday, worked late on Wednesday and Thursday doing some 3D modeling for a tool that was broken - oh also caught a pretty good cold on Wednesday.

RT - good luck on your blood shgar project.  A short time back my doctor told me I have the opposite problem - low blood sugar.  Reccomends smaller and more frequent meals, cut the carbs and get more protien.  More meals - guess I can handle that!

Nothing new on the train front.  On the robot front, the kids got the compitetion robot together and are starting to do testing.  As typical, some re-desigining and re-building is required.  Double the work, cause we've got to make the same changes on the practice robot.

Looking forward to the Daytona 500 tomorrow.

All for now.

Doug, got a large number of them.  Mrs. Edna put them on sale when K-Line went under.  Also, picked up some from ChooChooAuctions real cheap.  So heavy, got them stored.  Will check them out.

Wifey and I ate at Golden Corral.  Got a batch of free passes Heather [old front end manager] gave me when she left to be GM in Reidsville, NC.  Prime rib.

Later.

Good evening all,

I did 8 miles in 2:19:19 today outside at the Y.  Not a great time, but still sufficiently fast enough.  Was very worn out when I got home.  Still have Sunday to get some items done.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Hola Dudes & Dudettes !

Been a 10# in a 5# sack this past week and a half. Glad thats over ! Had my first wireless ICD test and even though I didn't wake up during the test it must have been a very restless night. My c-pap mask and half the bedding was on the floor when I wokeup about 4 in the morning. When they called the next day they said that the ICD and I both passed with flying colors.

Any of you have some of the K-Line die cast 4 bay hoppers ? I currently have 13, unlucky maybe, on my roster that hadn't been run in quite awhile. Was a real pain to pack for the museum due to weight. Yesterday I finally got them out to run and discovered a potentially big problem. One of them in the 4 car Chessie color scheme has developed a bad cas of zinc pest. It has grown in length about 3/16" and 1/4" in width at the center, as well as exhibiting a lot of other irregularities. If you got any check your inventory.

Doc's are still making changes to my heart meds trying to reverse some of the decline in function.

A belated Happy B-Day Buckeye, seems like we just did this last month. Smile, Wink & Grin With many more to come !

Later all !

P.S._Anybody have any ideas as to finding some "Alice In Wonderland" characters in aprox "O" scale ?

Sunny and 55 degrees.  Warming fast as suppose to go to mid 60's.

Yesterday was one of those dreaded early and long sessions with Town Board and staff and budget expansion.  Glad that is over.

Buckeye, Thought your birthday was last month and the month before and so on.  Anyway.  Your present is in the mail.  Couldn't afford the high dollar fast delivery postage.  It is on the slow delivery route.  Whistling  [newbees, Buckeye has a birthday every month]

Got lunch with former intern and her boyfriend.  Must be serious.  She is introducing me to him.  I'm like her second Dad.

Got to clean the Train Box.  Full of engine boxes.  Had to dig through the whole group to get one for the enigne that is at Lionel repairs.  Got some kids that want to see trains run.

Have a good one.
